Free Tivo for DirecTV subscribers

I was browsing a satellite users forum when I came across this. If only I had seen it sooner, because it expires tomorrow.

I just got an email from Directv telling me that I qualify for a free reconditioned Directv DVR with Tivo. All I have to pay is the shipping. Has anyone else gotten an email on this promo?

One person thought it was a scam initially, but it's been confirmed. Here are the instructions.

Just log into your account at DirecTV's site. Under My Equipment, select Add or Replace Receiver. Use Offer code DVR4ME

The only charge is for $15 S+H, except for the DVR activation fee. That's waived for Total Choice Premiere subscribers. Some people ended up with 2. One arived by FedEx, the other brought by the installer. They contacted DTV to make sure there was no extra charge or commitment and were told to keep both, no charge, no commitment.

Only problem they're refurbished and 2 of the guys from dbsforums received defective units.  Either way its worth it for the short term.

My free (after rebate) DTV DVR (the R15 model) is actually working pretty well for me now.  There are some things that need to be ironed out in the software, but it's going to blow TiVo away once the bugs are fixed.
