Peyton vs. Reggie Wayne - hardly any mention
Tom Brady vs. Corey Dillon - hardly any mention
Donovan vs. TO - supreme blow-up in media
Reed vs. Vilma - no national media attention

Isn't that mainly because TO played the whole thing out in front of the media? 

He went in front of the cameras at every opportunity and all the stuff he said and did was on camera.  He wanted the media attention and he got it. 

He wasn't talking to McNabb was he?  Instead he attacked him behind his back but on camera.  He didn't ever talk to him face to face.

The Colts thing did get a lot of attention at the time because that too took place through the media.  Venderjacht knocked them to some reporter and then Manning replied to another one.

The bottom linr is TO wanted a huge media circus and he got it.  Instead of laying low after the initial problems he instead did more and more outrageous stuff just to stay in the spotlight.  That's the reason it was so blown out of proportion.  If it was a little spat that stayed in house it wouldn't have been such a big deal but instead TO goes on national TV and calls McNabb a hypocrite.  Everyone knows about his past in SF as well and that made it just that much bigger.

If TO wasn't so obsessed with bringing attention to himself and using the media to trash teammates it wouldn't be a big deal.  If he was a real man and could work things out on his own it wouldn't be a big deal.  He was the one who wanted and then created the media circus, he was the one who pulled all the strings.

I mean, think about it.  When George Bush tells the Iraqi ambassador that Saddam has to be careful that's no big deal.  When he comes out and says he's a member of the axis of evil and goes to the UN and repeatedly threatens him in speeches it is.  If you choose to make it public and play it through the media it will be a much bigger deal especially if you're as big a personality and media hog as TO.
