Clarke really impressed me during camp and preseason.  Does anyone think he can take Hicks' job this year?  I think he's more than an adequate backup and miles better than what Sciullo gave us last year.  He looks better vs the pass than Hicks...although not sure how he stacks up vs Hicks on runs (not like we really run the ball anyway :) ).  Hicks does have an advantage imo when it comes to screens and pulling, although Clarke isn't horrible.

Who here has been thinking of a Clarke/Hicks position battle?
Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No pro bowl WR's.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Retarded special teams.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  "I've got to do a better job."  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Running game shines for 3 plays. Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No adjustments anywhere.  Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  (repeat)

I thought the exact oppostive, Clarke did a better job run blocking then Hicks but Hicks is the better pass blocker

I like them both a lot. I watched Hicks a lot in TC his rookie year and watched Clarke last year and this year a lot.

I do not think he is ready to give Artis a push for a starting job. Artis said that he is finally comfortable this year because he can focus on one position. He said last year and the year before it took a lot out of him having to prepare for different positions and he was very happy when they promoted Herremans to 1st team LT in Tra's absence so Artis could stay at LG.

Artis bulked up in the offseason to be more physical inside too.

I think Clarke will be the heir apparent to the RG position if they move Andrews outside to RT when Big Jon leaves.

I think it's a year premature. Next year I think the starting OGs will be Andrews and Clarke. One of the OT will prolly be Hicks. Then, in a year from that we'll see either Herremans or Armstrong move in.
