I'm watching Chip's post draft PC. He all but confirms Jordan would have been the pick if Miami hadn't traded up.

When he was asked about not drafting any Oregon players:

"Trust me, the guy that went #3, we would consider very heavily. Didn't get a chance to pull the trigger on that one..."

Kelly also said they had interest in drafting Kiki Alonso. If anything it's refreshing to have a coach who talks about the team and doesn't offer responses like "we're not gonna get into all of that."

He also seems to be attempting to win over IGY:

Quote"If you constantly take the overachiever at every position, you're going to be too small," Kelly said. "If you take the short defensive tackle backed up by the short middle linebacker backed up by the short safety, then all of a sudden you're going to get run over.
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.""  R.I.P George.

Yep - he's a total different guy than Andy and it's refreshing.

Someone needs to ask him about fastballs and 3rd round DE tweeners.

Is this the first non-mormon draft and UDFA period we have had in 15 years?
No way I am actually going to spend the time to look into that, so lets just say yes.

As much as I think Kelly is going to be a colossal failure at the NFL level and despite the fact that I think he's a flakey douche who bolted Oregon when the NCAA started sniffing around, I will say that I do like his overall approach since he's been hired.

I don't care about things like switching up the locker room and I marginally care about putting the team through SEAL training but he seems humble/smart enough to at least know that if he's going to succeed in the NFL that he can't do it the exact same way he did in college.  And apparently he's also smart enough to know that David only beat Goliath 1 time out of 100 and that this team needs more Goliaths than it does Davids.

I'm still not on the Chip Kelly bandwagon but I do enjoy seeing a totally different approach and mindset coming from this franchise than what we've all been witness to since 1999.

I don't think I've heard Chip clear his throat once yet.  True, we got more insight in 20 seconds than we got the last 13 years.

For the hell of it I checked out Andy's post-draft conference and got blinded by a big ugly red Hawaiian shirt, then the day 3 one he was back to his usual black.  Same generic draft pick "everyone is a good player" crap as the last decade (god I don't miss that), but one thing that stood out was that he said he liked Barkley and thought the kid was going to be a good player.  Truth or not, he reiterated that they wanted an inside LB instead of a QB at that spot and we didn't steal anyone from the Chiefs
