From the PE board that I thought was worthy of discussion:

2016 - DT Mike Patterson

2015 - G Shawn Andrews

2014 - WR Reggie Brown

2013 - DE Trent Cole, G Todd Herremans, C Jamaal Jackson, CB Asante Samuel

2012 - CB Sheldon Brown, WR Kevin Curtis, LS Jon Dorenbos, DE Chris Clemons

2011 - DE Darren Howard, DE Jevon Kearse, CB Lito Sheppard, DE Juqua Thomas, WR Greg Lewis, DT Brodrick Bunkley

2010 - QB A.J. Feeley, QB Donovan McNabb, RB Brian Westbrook, K David Akers, TE Matt Schobel, S Quintin Mikell, LB Stewart Bradley, RB Tony Hunt, TE Brent Celek, QB Kevin Kolb, DE Victor Abiamiri, P Sav Rocca, S Marcus Paschal, LB Akeem Jordan, LB Pago Togafau, CB Nick Graham

2009 - DT Montae Reagor, T Winston Justice, WR Jason Avant, LB Chris Gocong, G Max Jean-Gilles, LB Omar Gaither, DE LaJuan Ramsey, WR Hank Baskett

2008 - FS Brian Dawkins, T William Thomas, DE Jerome McDougle, RB Ryan Moats, S Sean Considine, T Jon Runyan, G Scott Young, RB Correll Buckhalter, LB Takeo Spikes, S J.R. Reed

Of immediate concern is the possible loss of both starting tackles.  Everyone else is expendable in 2008.

They better hurry up and extend Baskett before it's too late.

I wouldn't say Dawkins is expendable quite yet either.  Maybe if they address the position in the draft he might be but not yet.

And I had no idea Patterson was signed through 2016.  Makes me think he's not the only one smoking dope at NovaCare.

Dawkins isn't expendable until we see how he bounces back this year. He had legitimate reasons for being "a step behind" this past season.

Exactly.  I don't know if a safety close to his caliber would be available at 19, but even if there was one, he would still need at least a year of seasoning before he'd be ready to go, and even then I would still want to see if Dawk had anything left before letting him go.

I hope he does, obviously, but the Eagles better start considering getting serious about finding a replacement for him.

I was hoping this comment would lure MURP out.

2011 - DE Jevon Kearse

No.

Quote2008 - FS Brian Dawkins, T William Thomas, DE Jerome McDougle, RB Ryan Moats, S Sean Considine, T Jon Runyan, G Scott Young, RB Correll Buckhalter, LB Takeo Spikes, S J.R. Reed

Are you talking about at the end of 2008 when their contracts run out?  If so, then I agree on everyone except Dawk.  If you're talking about them all being expendable right now at this very minute, then I disagree with damn near all of them.

McDougle, Young and Moats are probably the only 3 they could release today and I wouldn't care at all.  JR Reed's a toss up.

Considine, as much as I don't care for him, is still decent depth if you make Mikell the starter.

Buckhalter and his rubber knees don't cost much money and he was excellent these last 2 years.  He's not expendible unless the Eagles draft or sign someone who is simply better.

If anything, Spikes brings some veteran leadership to what is otherwise an extremely young and raw LB group.  Like Buckhalter, unless the Eagles bring in someone with the same type of experience, I don't see how they can cut ties with him just yet.

what do you mean by everyone else in expendable in '08?

hes saying at the end of next season it wont hurt to lose any of those players

not sure how losing both your OT's (and very good ones at that) in the same year is expendable but whatever

You boys aren't so much for *reading*, eh?

The original post was ambigous to me. If the listed players are considered expendable before the '08 season, I agree with Sarge. But I take it to mean after '08 since that is when the tackles' contracts expire. But even after the '08 season, does this mean Trent Cole or Andrews are expendable? Or creating  $6 million dollars of dead money for Reggie Brown, or even $2.5 million for Juqua is just fine? Obviously no.

Sgt PSN

I think the line about players being expendable was strictly talking about the players whose contracts expire after the 2008 season, not those who are up in 2009 and beyond.
