MURP, I didn't see this on your site and it may be a whatever stat, but how many times a game must we watch McNabb get a sack or sack himself for failure to throw the ball away once he's outside the pocket. Yesterday he held on to it and tried to jump throw that shtein. What the farg?

Every farging game it seems like I have to deal with that play. I know he wants to make plays and I won't blame him for that, but I'll blame him for losing yards every time. Is it he'd rather take a sack than have an incomplete on his stats and have it affect his rating? He always gets up with that stupid look on his face too. Either start throwing the ball away or lose the stupid face after.

If I remember correctly he did get that pass off and it wasnt called a sack.   One thing of note, it was the first game of the season in which McNabb did not have a rush.

You're right. It wasn't a sack. I guess my new point is that he does this way too often.

I kind of look at it as live by the sword, die by the sword.   He makes a lot of big plays running around in the backfield waiting until the last second.  He also takes sacks and makes mistakes.   If you take away his ability to make the big play back there he becomes just another average NFL QB.

similarily to the way Barry Sanders ran, he'd break some 70 yarders the way he ran, but he'd have more than his fair share of 8 yard losses as well.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

There's a differance between the vintage McNabb plays where he fires a td at the last second and the plays where they just seem boneheaded....but there have been more than enough plays where he simply just holds on to the ball and runs out of bounds for a loss. McNabb's play making ability, like you said is what makes him McNabb. Maybe its just me or its hind sight, but too many plays look like he could have just thrown it away. That's my problem with Mcfabulous. I guess we want perfection every time out.

btw if you are interested hbionic.  McNabb is tied for 11th in the NFL for most sacks with 15.   Kitna leads the league with 22.

Most of the time when McNabb has the ball in his hands for more than 3 or 4 seconds and he still makes a play down field is because he gets out of the pocket and scrambles until someone opens up.  The plays when he gets sacked are when he holds onto the ball too long and doesn't leave the pocket.  Sure, every now and then he gets sacked outside the pocket but those occurances are far fewer than him getting sacked while in it.

It's those select few times that he holds the ball and doesn't move outside of the pocket that piss me off.

Well, he took two horrible sacks on Sunday--LJ Smith was wide open on the first one--I just don't understand why he didn't throw it.
