McNabb is a good QB whose injury is ruining his play. one thing i do have to blast him about is why he changed the things that make him so great like running to make plays instead of sitting in the pocket and taking bad sacks. He could be so much more if he just let his talents do the work instead of being like Reid and let his ego overwhelm his talent by going against the what everyone says.

I'll admit I wanted Akili Smith in that draft, and was a little surprised they took McNabb.
(Actually, I really wanted Tim Couch, but knew Cleveland would take him).

Oh well, at least I didn't want Ricky....
Anyone but Reid.

Growing up near Syracuse... I wanted McNabb.

Of course, his total undressing of my Wolverines his senior year helped me understand that he had all world talent.

I think I still had the Hoying experiment on the brain, and didn't want an option QB.
Anyone but Reid.

I remember the day McNabb was drafted and the Idiots booed him mercilessly.  It had a profound effect on McNabb, and his demeanor towards Philly media, and even the fans, still is tinted with that summary rejection on draft day.

We can sit back and say that McNabb should be over it, but most of us have never been in his place.  Was the booing racial?  I don't think so, but being a Caucasian, I have never had the opportunity to experience the world from the African-American perspective.  I have never, in the old Cherokee saying, walked a mile in McNabb moccasins.  My family has seen some forms of racism (my great-grandfather was Cherokee), but I have never experienced that personally.

Philadelphia also has a penchant of battling its stars.  Mike Schmidt and the Phillies fans had a very stormy relationship until the last few years of his career.  I'm not sure if it's all racial- though I'm sure that some of it is.  But I believe that McNabb may have read that into the draft reaction, perhaps based on his (or his family's) experiences, as we all tend to do.

Bottom line:  McNabb has been a terrific QB for the Eagles.  Is he a Hall of Famer?  Perhaps someday, but not yet.  He is, however, one of the main reasons for the team's success in the past five years.

WAR McNABB!  ;D
