Title: Week 11: Detroit - Can We Have. A Normal Game?
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on November 15, 2025, 08:36:15 PM
No AJ drama

The OC not handcuffing the QB with a peewee gameplan

Just a game where the offense functions as they're built to function please.

And then hope the defense can get pressure on Goff and not let him and Gibbs murder the defense.

Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on November 15, 2025, 08:36:15 PMThe OC not handcuffing the QB with a peewee gameplan

QuoteAfter doing some digging and asking people inside the Eagles building, it was explained that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts' approach this season, particularly against zone coverage. They believe he's become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles instead of trusting what's open downfield.

Philadelphia ranks 30th in pass attempts. The result? Pass catchers become disinterested. Any top receiver I've covered in this league has said the same thing: They spend hours getting open. When the ball doesn't come their way, frustration follows.

He's definitely not one to gun sling it.

Both can be true.

It's okay lil guy,  Patullo can't here you here.

i would never quote esp...not that dio has any functional understanding of philadelphia media or sports anything beyond ditch digging and pretending hamas isnt a terrorist organization

its russini, and shes paraphrasing what sources gave back to her.

Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on November 16, 2025, 09:27:06 AMBoth can be true.

i mean this is ultimately it...patullo is terrible and hurts stinks, so its a lethal combination. a better playcaller could cover more for him, and a better qb could get patullo a head coaching job

Can't figure this out if it's the inept OC, average QB, all the underlying Beverly Hills 90210 drama, but this offense is pathetic.

Defense is gifting the offense incredible field position and nothing but balloon farts in return.

I don't think they were a lot of people not only on this thread, but watching this game, we're big fans of going for it there.  You have Goff shteinting the bed, can't get his feet set defense in his face all night pin the son of a bitch back and then let him drive 80 yards.

Hurts needs to be better but pinning all the offenses problems on him is just ignorant and dumb

The o line run blocking is still dreadful. Part of it is injuries, part losing a grater like Bechton, part they're just not playing as a cohesive unit.

Because Saquan's been getting hit behind the line of scrimmage so frequently this season he's developed a bad habit of unnecessarily jump cutting in the backfield rather than straight hitting the hole.

The farging stupid penalties

Aside from Smitty the WRs aren't getting a whole lot of separation. Love AJ but he's not getting open. At least they're utilizing him on the slant even though it was covered pretty well. They need to get back to timing routes on the curl/hook routes when he takes it makes a move then gains extra yardage. That route is only there when hurts scrambles and not the staple it's been in the offense for years. Keep hitting Dotson or whoever on routes to keep  defenses from blanketing the main receivers.

Petullo is not only a bad play caller he doesn't know how to play game flow. I understand going to the well too often but he deviates drastically and it's just ugly.

It's pretty obvious the defenses point of emphasis is stopping Saquan...Bigsby's getting room to run. Moore wasn't creative but was smart enough to see the birds path to a good offense was focusing on the run. Stop giving a shtein about AJ and his targets and focus on the run again. They stop it so be it run it till it works.

Can't emphasis how nice it is to have adults back at end. Campbell's a year or two away from being great but Dean has been their best LB this season. I know they're up against the cap but I hope Howie can work out an extension with him.

Say what you want about Adoree Jackson but he's been solid the past month and thought he played his best game last night. Yea he got burned against Jameson Williams on that TD but so would 90% of dbs without safety help.

I would have been happy with a split these past two weeks but winning both is unreal. All the years rooting for the birds I can't remember a tougher schedule. At least it eases up a bit going forward

farg Dallas

im not sure what you do with dean going forward...hes super injury prone, you have jihad and they already paid ZB. but the man is just out of his mind right now. total season changer really, theyve taken another leap since hes been back.

speaking of leaps...im gonna leap off a cliff watching the hurts/patullo/sirianni triumvirate. one pathetic incompetence leading into another. any decent qb wins that game by 4 scores. but not our jalen! every call patullo had was wrong. wr screen? NOPE. swing pass to saquon? DOA. run on 1st? ZILCH. pass on 2nd and short? SACK. when the right call was made jalen couldn't hit shtein. the line couldnt block, and when they could, saquon was doing too much bullshtein. the wr's couldnt catch. or theyd just pick up a debilitating penalty - which all comes back to patullo and sirianni anyway.

who am i kidding. hurts is a winner! 26 points in 2 games, got them w's. go birds.

dgunn and set joyner both floated stuff...dgunn's stuff im assuming is coming from his dude bg or one of the other old timers in there since hes really out the game. and this is on top of russini's report from the weekend.

it gets me hoping if they dont win it this year, theyll find a way to get rid of him. howie isnt giving his ass an extension so we're around that time to pull a wentz. i had a zone out daydream where he traded both hurts and AJ, tanked 2026, and came into 2027 with multiple 1's, a franchise qb and cap space. and all it cost was 1 down year.

now if they do win, obviously you gotta keep it together and go for 3.

Yeah, I don't see it

Damn near won the first Super Bowl he was in and played lights out
Two years later, MVP of the Super Bowl

His win loss record is nuts, as is another guy you probably hate, his coach.

Looks to me like Dynasty is only another Super Bowl away from confirmed

Record this year's eight and two with a straight line shot to the number one seat again

I'll take Hurts over "Are you a squirter" 100 times out of five

Him and his ilk prefer a 28-33 loss so long as AJ Brown isn't pouting.

Obviously never going to complain about wins but the offenses ceiling is infinitely higher with a good QB

on a selfish level I'd like to watch something in the same zip code as just an average offense.  This shtein is detestable.

That is true.

I joked last week when they got the ball way backed up on their goal line that I just hoped they'd get it to the 40 so they could at least flip the field.

That's where we're at these days.

And the cherry on top of this shtein offense is when its 3rd and long...they surrender like they're French.

thata 100% sirianni

a 3rd and long strat like that is coming from him. patullo is following orders there. and he doesnt want to press the issue in a 0-0 game on 3rd and 12 with hurts. simple as that. do with that information what you will.

thats true but patullo barely presses the issue on second and 5 much less 3rd and long...i doubt hes dialing up anything of consequence on a 3rd and long

its sirianni. and hes doing it because HE thinks hurts stinks. and howie/lurie agree because lets be real - they call the shots and they are in on this.

the eagles are really good and often in neutral/leading spots, so thats why so many of those 2nd and mid/3rd and long spots are high school plays. if the defense stunk and they were behind theyd have to led hurts rip. and thats not what anyone wants.
