Title: Super Bowl LIX - Chiefs: The Rematch
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on January 30, 2025, 04:30:51 PM
Let's go!

Better defense than 2022. No Bradberry, Linval Joseph or Suh getting run.

BG's practice window is open so he could return

And should the Eagles win it'll be the second SB Carson Wentz gets to witness them win from the bench.

With all due respect for BG...please don't let him take Nolan Smith off the field...the guy is seeing it all and working beautifully with JC

He's nowhere near healthy yet, but with enough drugs he can go for a dozen plays or so. The important thing is that he never stops talking.

Bryce Huff is out there!  Damn, if that dude gets playing time?  Put Helen Keller and 1944 FDR out there already.

Come on BG!

I've been pretty relaxed all week.  Week leading up to Packers and Rams, I was a wreck.  Those were the two teams that scared me.  taterskins, wasn't worried.

Let's farging go!!!

Yeah that sucked. 15 minutes of studio show to begin and then we'd get a minute or so of a player talking and then back to the studio.

Twas the night before...

Nerves are in full effect but also confident they come out and ball.

What's everyone doing for tomorrow?

Two years ago we had a huge party at our house. Decorations galore. Rearranged the whole place to fit the 20+ people.

This time is way more subdued. Just seven people coming over.

Actually quite calm this time. I was a wreck for the Eagles Pats in 05 & 18.  23 I was a little freaked before the game.   I'm like you J, got this weird confidence. I've never had this feeling in a big game with any Eagles team in my 50+ years of being a fan.

I'm all about solitary confinement.  Probably just me, wife, dogs and lots of texting Sea Biscuit and bellyaching to you boys.  Junior is whipped so we'll see if he's here to support dad.

Son invited over some friends. He'll be making quesadillas and we'll have a bunch of finger foods.  Ordered some birch beer to give it more of a feeling like home.

And yes, strangely calm before this game.  Could just be worn out emotionally from the rest of the shtein going on in the world, but I have a confidence in the Eagles that I don't usually allow myself to have for my sports teams.

I still haven't figured out how to post pics here from my phone, but my one "big" SB long shot prop bet this year was $100 on Dotson to score the first TD. I also threw the last $29 I had left in the account after all the small bets on him scoring in the 1st quarter. So him getting tackled at the 1 cost me about $8400 lmao

GO fargING BIRDS

Post by: Geowhizzer on February 10, 2025, 12:15:50 AM
I was eerily calm for the entire game... and now can't sleep.

So a few thoughts:
1. The defense... wow.
2. K.C. was able to contain Saquon for the most part, but Hurts was able to make them pay for that overfocusing.
3. The Eagles were the better team on both sides of the ball, and played like it.  Reid and Mahomes had no answer until the game was out of reach.
4. Kenny Pickett took Super Bowl snaps before Dak Prescott.  Just let that sink in.

Many of us were all up Jake Elliott's ass recently but he was stellar!  No doubt FG's and booming kickoffs all night despite all the false starts by Lovato.  Good for him!

Braden Mann was also clutch. That punt that pinned the Chiefs deep leading to Baun's INT was huge.

Congrats to the Chiefs they held Saquan in check...too bad they forgot about the rest of our team and how dominant our defense is. I really think the Chiefs put all their eggs in the stop Saquan basket. The last time a team was thoroughly dominated in a SB like this to my recollection was Tampa/Raiders.

I realize we have more talent but the Chiefs were badly outcoached. What did they run the ball like 10 times? Kudos to Moore for continuing to pound it with Saquan/Kenny G. farg off mahomes/kelce/reid/trump. What an assbeating.

So glad I'm off today gonna make an omelet and watch the game and post game/nbc sports Philly.

Holy shtein

Wearing my LII hat this morning.  Rolled out with my daughter for breakfast and a bunch of folks congratulated us.  The server whispered, "thank you for beating those cheaters" after we ordered.

Oh hell yes.  This is so good.

you look back on it and this has got to be one of the most complete teams in nfl history...they won all 4 playoff games in a variety of different ways. today was pass rush/jalen. last week they couldnt touch JT. the first 2 playoff games hurts stunk. saquon carried them all year, then did nothing in the SUPER BOWL and they blew the doors off a hall of fame coach/qb.

has there even been a more beloved jew than howie

I kinda laughed and replied... White cornerback and Super Bowl MVP are two phrases that have never been used in conjunction, that's for sure.

Howie's construction of this squad will be studied for years.

Sunday evening into the wee hours of Monday morning were almost surreal, almost denial, "that did not just happen". Really hit me yesterday, started watching all the sports talk shows - Get Up, First Take, Breakfast Ball, Around the Horn, PTI, etc. AND hearing each and every one of them all agree this was a complete ass whoopin', bitch slapping, steel toe kick to the groin, beat down.  In my mind it will always be 40-6!  Stat padder staying in the game with <5 minutes left was asinine considering how he was beaten like a drum all night.  Those halftime stats, shtein the stats before the Chiefs first touchdown late Q3, will make me shake my head until the day they scatter me in the Pacific (also asked my wife and son to scatter some at Broad and Pattison).

All is well!  LIFE IS fargING GOOD!

A few random thoughts...

Went to the office today and had no FEWER than 20 calls from colleagues congratulating me.  Not me or the Eagles specifically now that I think of it.  More like thank god you beat the Chiefs - we hate them - talk.  I'll take being a pity farg any day where this is concerned.  😆

Also - I continue to be amazed at the level of hatred being levied at Taylor Swift.  By women especially.  The hostility from women towards her is something that should also be studied in the future.

Anyway, I was seriously thinking of flying up for the parade.  Had flights/hotel package all lined up.  Then at the last minute I realized nothing will ever top the last time.  I'm not saying I'm not out of my mind happy that they won.  I am.  But nothing will ever top LII.  I was there in the city for that game.  Still the best non-family moment of my life.  Strange how much this nonsense means to me.

Finally, I spent a lot of my life wishing I had been born in a city that had more winners.  Most cities certainly do.  But man, let me tell you, when we get to celebrate wins, they mean everything to us. Nobody loves their teams like we do. Not even close.  That's why despite all the years of anguish and suffering, ain't nobody I'd rather be than a Philly fan.

So far this week on nfln I've watched:
GB/Birds playoff game
Rams/Birds playoff game
Commies/Birds nfccg
Lost count how many times I've watched the SB

Tonight they aired 52 which is still incredible

And

SB 59 mic'd up. No brady/burkhard they play Merrill and the chiefs radio guy. They show the big plays from different angles...the commentary from the players and coaches is unreal. Must watch tv

Watched the game again this morning.  We've been on the losing side enough times to recognize when one team was ready to play and one wasn't.  The Eagles were foaming at the mouth before the game even started.  Everyone saw that.  But they played like they knew what was coming on every play.  How many times have we seen that from the opposition in big games, especially with Andy Reid?

That shtein was pure poetry on Sunday.

Can't adequately describe how stunning that display of total domination was.

We're never going to witness its like again either.

It really was an Andy Classic. Abandon the run, watch your quarterback get his ass beat, no adjustments whatsoever. I'm not sure he's still in the NFL at this point without Mahomes pulling bullshtein out of his ass as often as he has.

Watching AR mouth breathing in the second half and looking like someone watching a meteor heading for his front yard was priceless.  The whole "I'm happy for Andy" some Philly fans were spouting when he won his first Super Bowl in KC still makes me cringe, actually had a lady, a die hard Philly fan who lives up the hill frome us, tell me that the other day on a walk a few days before the game.  :boom

Still find it pathetic he had Kermit in there the last few minutes down 40-6 after getting tossed around like a rag doll and attempting onside kicks. Let Ginger get a few Super bowl snaps.

I've been living in a state of absolute bliss.

I'll start getting back into the groove once free agency and the draft heat up.

We went from Buddy's time of ignoring everything on offense except Randall to The Guy in France letting everyone leave via free agency. And then Richie The K and his wet two point conversion chart and Ray Bob.

Andy and Donovan falling short all those years. Andy losing his mind and hiring Juan Castillo as DC. Chip the farg face and his shenanigans. Howie being stuffed in a locker and not leaving for another job and resurrecting himself.

So from 2017 until now almost seems unreal. This season was one of pure dominance and it was the Eagles who put everyone on notice. Pretty farging cool.

Maybe Lurie knew when he said "championships" years ago and was ridiculed.

To funny about some of the clowns we've had here coaching this team.  Just had a conversation with a buddy of mine about all the QB's I've seen.  Man the lifeboats boys, some scary stuff:

1970's - Pete Liske, Rick Arrington, John Reaves, Roman Gabriel, Mike Boryla, Jaworski
1980's - Jaws, Joe Pisarcik, Randall, Matt Cavanaugh
1990's - Randall, McMahon, Jeff Kemp, Brad Goebel, Bubby Brister, Ken O'Brien, Rodney Peete, Ty Detemer,
Bobby Hoying, Koy Detmer, Doug Pederson, McNabb
2000's - McNabb, A.J.Feeley, Mike McMahon, Jeff Garcia, Kevin Kolb, Vick
2010's - Vick,Vince Young, Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez, Wentz
2020's - Hurts, Minshew, Pickett, McKee

HOLY shtein!!  Proud of myself as the only one I forgot was Brad Goebel but the rest some good, some bad, some ugly.

They reported that Smith will be "ready for the 2025 season."

It's unclear when Smith got hurt, but he played only 30 snaps after averaging 60 in the Eagles' first three postseason games. It was his fewest snaps since before Brandon Graham got hurt against the Rams in Week 12, when Smith began playing significantly more."
