Title: Week Two - 2023
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 13, 2023, 04:21:52 PM
In addition to weeks of sloppy play due to no pre-season looks like injuries are also running rampant. Have to wonder if that's also to be blamed on no PS and lighter than ever camps?

Vikes starting C and LT are hurt. Waddle has an oblique injury. Ekeler has an ankle. Both of Seattle's OTs could be out.

Until someone shows me some kind of data analysis, I don't buy the argument that there are "more" injuries in any given period than another, or because there was camp or wasn't, or because practice was without pads vs. with pads, etc.

Until then, I hold that injuries are the work of the football gods, meted out according to their fickle whim, and nothing else.

j can you correlate this week's injury report to last year, 2010 and 1990? please and thank you.

I've been working on it, yes.

Into 1990 now and see Fred Barnett is questionable with testicular torsion.

Jared Goff has achieved the rare feat of going TO Detroit and resurrecting his career. That rarely happens.

And he hasn't thrown a pick in like 400 attempts

Art Smith having Bijan, London, Pitts and others and not being able to scheme them up is a fireable offense.

He's a brutally bad play caller

Ridder isn't great but he should still be able to have a bit of success with those skill players

Man Hochuli Jr's crew is brutal.

Every time they sack or turnover Lamar there's a magic yellow flag on the carpet.

Burrow also looks awful.

Brutal goal line pick and Baltimore promptly matriculates the ball down the field to score.

Bucs are balling. And Josh Fields is missing wide open TDs

Officiating is as bad as it's ever been. They missed a shtein load of calls in the Niners rams game.

I mean it wasn't a ticky tack one - it was blatant.

Tua is dealing. Miami could make a deep run if they keep this up and stay healthy

Miami is about to blow this

They've had snap issues three times tonight and that was a bad time for one.

And the FG block trick by NE caused Meyers to miss. Short field now.
Title: Re: Week Two - 2023
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 17, 2023, 11:25:26 PM
Well that was a wild farging ending. Wow.

Bummer than Tua didn't go over his passing yards of 261.5 though. He had 200ish at halftime and end with 249.

But Fish Ml gets home. And we have two MNF games tomorrow

Saints and Panthers is a slop fest

Browns and Steelers could be too. Steelers defense pick six on the first play and then let the Browns walk it back down the field bc they can't stop the run

Najee Harris looks slow and then he fumbles the two point try.

Schwartz's defense, minus letting Pickens break free for a long TD, is smashing people

Between Pickett and Mac Jones I think I prefer Pickett.  Cocky shteins both, it's just more aggravating from Jones.
Title: Re: Week Two - 2023
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 18, 2023, 09:56:41 PM
I'm not sure but I'd lean Jones by a smidge just because his accuracy is better.

Young is shook by the Saints defense. He's playing lousy. And Reich isn't helping him. He's been a big fan of the whole run it into the middle of the line for no gain with Miles

1-2-1 in the bullet because of that vile backdoor push. ive lost on worse.

FWIW I think Pickett has more of an NFL future than Mac Jones, but he might just be earlier in the same career trajectory.

There have been a few big offense games, but I think it's been a while since the overall state of NFL quarterback play was this bad two weeks into a season. Tua for MVP?
Title: Re: Week Two - 2023
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 18, 2023, 10:49:06 PM
I'd agree with the QB play being as poor as we have seen it. And in a league that's pass happy as shtein.

Pickett needs to make some plays tonight. That Ford run could be a killer. Watson seems to be getting some of his game back unfortunately.

tbf tusa has been really good

outside of trev, the last few draft classes just havent produced elite or even good qbs. youve had guys retiring, guys falling off a cliff, then someone like stafford who to me is still playing at a high level but stuck on an average team
