All is right in the world - lil guy and the game threads are BACK!
Hopefully they ruin Tommy's return to Foxboro. Maybe BG can sack him again
ill give anyone $500 if they can guess the theme this year without googling
the last 2 eagle trips to foxboro were qb'ed by aj feeley and sam bradford...what a world
4/4.5
45/45.5

That is great trivia!
Reverse The Charges???? We get the happy ending over Bob Kraft?
Jack Jones likely out due to a hammy injury
The singer of the Love Boat theme is out?
WTF?
It's ok. Soon he'll be making another run.
Exciting and new!!
so do they have a punter or what
sipos is getting promoted
Of all the people in the world who can kick a football with their feet we get stuck with one who can't.
Maybe it will be bizarro world for Sipos. Super Bowl goat to opening day hero, complete opposite of Kadarius Toney.
imagine caring about the punter
Looks like Devante Parker is OUT. He's not exactly Davante Adams but he is the starting X. That Oline could be a hot mess, too.
Eagles 31
Pats 17
Let's go!!
It's tight in the 4th quarter, then the Eagles score late.
Eagles 27
Patriots 17
McKee
Goodrich
Ricks
Steen
Albert O
Ojomo
And Penny which is surprising
The inactives
Both of the Pats starting OGs are out
Here we go....
Great now I let the Phillies ruin my opening day for the birds.
Let me say it one more time so I feel better about the day moving forward, but farg you, sir Anthony play and farg you Bohm!
Go Birds!
Jalen mills still on the Pats?
Gonna be a rough three hours with Nance and Romo. They can't get anything right.
Bummer to have that fizzle out.
I think they would have had it if they'd tried running with the third stringer one more time.
Zeke is gonna torment them again isn't he
Pats mixing up quick plays to the boundaries
Nice!
Boooooooooom! Slay babyyyyy
My illegal stream seems to be minutes behind.

Seriously guys what is wrong with Romo? he is so out of touch!
Thanks Zeke!
Davis with the punch out
OLine looking a little lost. Got lucky twice.
Jesus Christ that was one hell of a throw!
Slim!
Keep piling it on
Wtf with that kick
Special Teams!

its not even a quarter but i am ready to declare sports indian sean desai to be the best eagles dc since jj
Quote from: Don Ho on September 10, 2023, 04:49:40 PMSeriously guys what is wrong with Romo? he is so out of touch!
Yeah he's really bad even for Romo.
The special teams farging sucks
And they burn a TO bc they don't have enough on the punt team
Good lord
Lucky for the turnovers as the offense looks rather stale after the first drive
Play the game so far juju Schuster shtein dropping a pass!
can't complain about the punt coverage.
Offense? WTF? Oline getting blown up.
Surprised this Hoyda league didn't call that taunting by Jobe
Brown and Jobe with good coverage. Hallelujah
Offense is stagnant and getting whipped by the stunts by NE's front. shtein looks like a pre season playbook
How about something down the field?
Topper calling plays for birds?
Birds offense better wake up. Big disappointment so far.
Ok guys, there's more to this offense then Kenny Gainwell
Some gross shtein here.
They're gonna end up losing
Collective suck fest now
Ballgame.
Certainly looks like a team that hasn't played much together since February
i dont know why they are running a 1945 offense...all those 3 and outs and short fields gave the pats ample momentum to get back into it
100% on sirianni and hurts, they had a 16-0 lead, sat on it and now they up against it.
He was in there. No biggie as odds are birds give ball right back.
Was it Goedert's retirement they celebrated at halftime? MIA
O line awful today
Mailata penalty killed it
And then more sloppiness on teams.
At least Elliott nailed it
What the farg? No energy today. Lifeless. Hurts looks awful. Secondary looks weak. No pressure on Jones from DL and tiny LBs.
5 point lead, playing like ass, got this!
Gotta score here. A nice methodical drive would be nice. Or a bomb to AJ
Hurts throws into double coverage and Goedert wide open. Misses him again
Is Hurts blind?
Good grief
Hurts looking like National Championship Hurts. Where Tua at?
Tua is out here with about four hunny so far
Hochuli Jr out here throwing the game
What a soft ass call! farg the NFL
Blankenship came to play.
Not the birds day.
And Maddox is pretty useless
I understand thinking that was a double clutch based on the movement of the right hand but I haven't seen any evidence the ball movement wasn't controlled by his left hand.

The replay they showed after the break made it clear it was double clutch.
This rookie Gonzalez is causing a lot of havoc.
He has lived up to his pre-draft hype
Jake Elliott is going to collapse under the weight of pulling this team to a win against a not great Patriots team.
Nice urgent defense you fargsticks. Terrible all around. This is definitely the first game of the year.
This defense definitely does not have their game legs yet
Probably only time I don't give a shtein a defender dropped a sure interception
Brutal
Wow.
Are you serious??
Shame they forgot to pick up a RB in the offseason.
Well, we can blame most of this on hurts today. Unacceptable performance he had guys wide-open all farging day, just a bad day. Secondary had their issues but bad bad day for Hurts.
Don't worry, they'll pick up some senior citizen Retread has been running back when they realize what they got.
Jordon Howard!
Hands up if you had Jordan Davis getting a share of the first sack of the season.
Mac ain't it.
They might still escape with a win, but lets see if Hurts goes full Wentz first.
WTF Hurts? Really?
Blatant PI
Hey, guess what guys goedert was wide-open
Too cowardly to go for the sneak. Shameful.
Maddox best tackle takes out his own teammate
How do they miss that PI? How in the farg did they missed that?
The way they played, doesn't really matter
Pressure from the dline has been a disgrace all game
Whew, game of inches
God damn! Whew!
Sloppy as shtein. Like most teams they played like they haven't done shtein since last season
Really not much to say. This reminded me of the second half of the lions game. So out of sync, obviously starters not playing much if all in preseason reared it's ugly head.
I'm scared to look at the stats.
1. the 1H strategy of being afraid of the rain was...interesting. they basically didnt want to do anything, sat on the ball, lost the field and turned a huge lead into a ball game. brilliant.
2. once they got into their stuff in 2H, they moved the ball well. little things stalled out drives, but they were moving it. elliott saved them, big time.
3. hurts was kind of close to a trainwreck? his passes were crisp, he was moving well. but the fumble, yikes. he missed goedert multiple times. just wasnt seeing the field well at all. maybe credit to BB, maybe a lack of live action, whatever. hopefully this gets better!
4. kenny gainwell? yikes. no juice. swift was barely present. not a lot of room to run but nothing going on with these guys. lets try penny or something.
5. the defense was really good expect for that god awful drive to cut it to 5. won them the game. farg johnathan gannon with a pound of naan, all praise mighty sports indian sean desai.
6. i like being aggressive. i hate punting. special teams was all over the place, some good moments, some bad moments. but jesus. you punt the ball there. make them eat the yards on the other side of it. and if youre gonna for it, try something more creative than a slant in traffic.
overall, week 1 is pass/fail to me. they passed, they won. good. great. bring on cuzzo.
One thing about facing Belichick with so much time to prepare is he was able to really disguise a lot of coverages and it confused Jalen. Plus he wasn't crisp at all.
But then again in watching all of the games today just about every team was a slopfest. The drawback from not having real training camps and sitting everyone in pre season.
Nakobe is in a walking boot - not good
Suit Penny up Thursday please
Gonzalez got away with PI on Slim on that 4th and 2 pass
Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis looked good
Fletch was going in for X-ray and I hope Bradberry is ok
Hurts was locking in on single receivers and staring them down like 2021. I think it's more likely cobwebs than him regressing, but this was a bad game by him.
NE did a lot of interesting things on both sides of the ball to attempt to neutralize the Eagles' strengths, with varying success. I wonder how much of it will/can be picked up by other teams.
I thought Gainwell was fine but the RB usage was odd overall. I think Brian Johnson is still getting his sea legs as a playcaller too.
Something came up and I missed the end of the 4th quarter. Looks like I didn't miss much, but a ugly win is still a win. :-\
Suggestion NC, don't watch Q4. They had this thing signed, sealed & delivered with 5 minutes left.

brown and smith are good enough that they should still be able to win games even if he does this every snap
the trade off of being 100% healthy heading into this game is that nobody is really ready to roll. its a long season, theyll get better. they won. moving on.
Splurged with the son and bought the Sunday Ticket when it was on sale back in June. Worked pretty well. 2-3 lags (could be my crappy CenturyLink internet connection), but overall had good picture quality.
Today was the son's 20th - Tempus Fugit - and his girlfriend and another friend came to watch the game with us.
If his relationship continues past that game, the girl may be a keeper...
Now a few thoughts on the game:
- Defense looks like it takes more chances and plays a bit more aggressively, but for some reason I kept getting bad flashbacks of Jonathan Gannon when Jones just marched down the field.
- Did Hurts catch Goedert with his girl or something?
- Hurts tried to play hero ball with the fumble. Instead of trying to get when was given for him and take third down, he took on the defender and coughed up the ball.
- Hurts has to get better than he was today. Perhaps rust and not playing in the preseason. Perhaps playing in the rain. But this team goes as far as Jalen Hurts will take them... and he's got to be better.
- WHAT THE FARG was Sirianni thinking when he went for it at midfield on 4th down. I was convinced that he had cost theteam the game on that one. Terrible, terrible decision.
- Replay cost the Eagles on the AJ Brown bobble... and replay saved the Eagles on the 4th down for the Patriots at the end of the game. I'll take that trade.
- I was supposed to check my blood pressure tonight (damn middle age). I'm not going to do that... between the birthday spread for my son and that game, I don't want to know what it is!
QuoteHe was asked about Jalen Hurts' performance, which was below expectations for the quarterback.
"I'll definitely re-evaluate some of the preseason stuff next year. I know they played the first two years that we were here — they only played one series against the Jets in 2022. Maybe I should've played them a series or two this preseason, and I already wrote that in my notes, and I'm constantly self-evaluating myself. And, I'm not promising anything."
Sirianni went on to say that giving it some thought, if he could do it over, he would have played the starters for a series or two in the preseason.
Quote"We can't go a game without getting [Dallas Goedert] the football. He's too good of a playmaker, but there are some that the Patriots did that made it difficult for us to be able to get him some quick, easy touches. That happens."

I was so pissed off about the Phillies before kickoff my wife warned my son to stay away.
Very pleased with YouTube TV! Excellent all around and loved the split screen option.
And yes I'll take the replay swap there. One slapped us and one saved us!

That's funny, I've always had good blood pressure and this made me realize there's no way I'd want to know it during that 4th quarter, it could be ER worthy.
Bulldog report:
Jalen Carter: Was a noticeable force when he was out there. Wrecking ball energy.
Nakobe Dean: Incomplete due to injury. Looked slow when I noticed him.
Jordan Davis: Had several monster splash plays. Best game as an Eagle? Looked to have more stamina than I remembered too. Wasn't gassed even when NE didn't let him come out on passing downs.
Nolan Smith: Not a factor. Don't think he was out there much. Could be a slow climb up the depth chart.
D'Andre Swift: Touched the ball twice, not much to grade here.
Kelee Ringo: When Bradberry came out of the game, he was replaced by Josh Jobe. That says it all.
My interest in this team ebbs and flows. I had none this weekend. Watched anyway. Meh. It's tough to win in Foxboro and they pulled it off. It was ugly but who cares? Wins like this used to be guaranteed losses.
I'll take it.
Also - the next game on Thursday night is on Prime Video. I'm out. Work the next day, errands, whatnot.
Let me know when the NFL pulls its head out of its ass and puts the games back on at 1:00 on Sundays.

i talked to roger goodell and hes going to personally move each and every eagles game, including the super bowl, to 1pm sundays to accommodate your geriatric preferences
Good one.
NFL games belong at 1:00PM on Sundays if both teams are in the same time zone. That's a fact.
But you're right. Goodell doesn't give two shteins about any of us, least of all middle-aged white men who finally figured out tradition and loyalty mean nothing to billionaire owners and millionaire jocks.
Figured it out but not done whining about it yet.
The struggle is real.

this is one of my favorite tangents you get on. sports caved to tv like 30 years ago and you're still 1. mad about it and 2. paying attention.
Easy Todd, we old farts are still struggling with the fact The Brady Bunch, All in the Family, Sanford & Son, original Hawaii 5-0 were all cancelled. I miss Howard Cosell too.
Bad news Don, the Hawaii 5-0 reboot also got cancelled.
