Title: Chance Warmack, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: SD on March 09, 2017, 05:10:24 PM
Former Titan top 10 pick. Beast in college...compared to Larry Allen coming out

He was a disappointment with the Titans but he's being reunited with his college coach (Stoutland).

He's always been a good run-blocker, but he sucks at pass protection. Do the birds have anyone adept at coaching people up on the line? I don't pay attention to these things any more. The prospect that he was coming out of college would be a hell of a find, but unless someone can teach him how to pass protect he doesn't have much of a place in a league that throws every goddamned down.

I had to do a double take when my son said the birds signed him.  I remember when he came out of Bama he was going to be the next Larry Allen.  Injured his hand last year.

Look pass?

He will probably continue to suck on passing downs, but there's real upside potential if they can manage to coach him up. That's the most you can hope for with highly limited FA $$$ left.

Overall I think Howie did fine today.

So is Kelce out of here yet or what?

the Neanderthal has got to be adios.  Warmack, Big V, Barbe, Seumalo, Lane, Peters, Brooks, Wisnewski FA?  not bad, not great but not bad.

semalu was born to play center so it makes total sense to move him in there and run brooks and warmack at the guards

Really like this move. Low risk. I think Legendz wanted to have his babies at one point when he was at a Bama.

I remember he always played with his gut hanging out and was flat out nasty at Bama, but he pretty much disappeared during Tennessee's recent down period

It was shocking as to how he never materialized in Tennessee.  His draft analysis from 2013:

QuoteDraft Analysis:

Considered by many to be one of the best all-around players in this draft class, Warmack should enjoy a long and productive NFL career -- and help solidify the Titans' ground game. The last offensive guard to be picked in the first round of a draft was Chris Naeole, who went 10th overall to the New Orleans Saints in 1997.

The reason most people haven't thought about him since the draft is that he's been awful since then. I mean, let's not dance around it. He can run block fine. He provides no pass protection. He's a draft bust. And he's coming off a season-long injury.

You bring in a guy like this for cheap hoping that you can develop something in him that his first team failed to develop. He seemed like a potential Hall of Famer coming out of college and he's too young to give up on given his athleticism, but unless his game changes soon, his career is probably half over.

I was thinking more like when the Giants took in Shawn Andrews.

Of course last year they were down to what, 3rd or was it fourth string on the line? Wentz was getting squished like clay. If Warmack comes fairly cheap and he ends up as a decent backup, it's a good deal. They need bodies there. He can make more in per game signing boni that everything else put together so he has incentive and if he doesn't work out at all they can ditch him with minimal loss.
