The Funky Drummer was James Brown's drummer. My favorite to sample and style after when I played.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3xSXc1vy5I
Wasn't aware you were a drummer. Cool.
I dabbled with it. I wanted to play when we could start band in school but my mom said no bc they were too loud. So I chose saxophone. But I always fooled around on the drums whenever I could. When I build my house it's going to have a drum room in it so I can bang away and not annoy the neighborhood.
I loved playing the tenor but making beats is more fun

Another suicide. JFC these people...
I kind of admire people who kill themselves, to be frank. I get why someone would do it, and I'm not judging any suicide. I didn't walk in his shoes.
I'm not going to get into a big debate about life and how to live it. I can see suicide being a perfectly reasonable solution if you're in agony or have a terminal illness with no hope of recovery. But these guys are killing themselves because of mental illness issues that are for the most part treatable. In short, it's just a sad, horrible waste of life.
I think it's reasonable in a lot of circumstances, including chronic depression. That really is living in agony and the treatments aren't always too effective. For most people, it's not like you pop a Zoloft and you're all better.
I have less sympathy when it's clearly impulsive. Like when a 15 year-old loses his first girlfriend and hangs himself the next day, or when someone with no suicidal tendencies at all gets high as shtein and wonders what it would feel like to jump off a building. But someone with the level of impulsivity to end their lives on a whim probably would have done a lot of other extremely dumb and/or dangerous stuff in their lives, too, and much of it would have affected others... so maybe it's no big loss. It's still their life to do with as they please.
My only beef with suicide is the way it affects the people who were close to you, as they will be left wondering what they could have done to help, or did they miss a suicidal indicator, etc, etc, etc. I won't even begin to try and judge a person for wanting to end his/her life, but good god I can only try to imagine the level of guilt that his friends and family are feeling right now.
there would be the obvious initial shock and sadness but if a truly troubled person commits suicide i would think a solid amount of people who were close to him/her would be happy the person isnt living in the hell that was their life anymore....thats how i feel anyway...i dont believe in that better place nonsense but i do believe they are often better off not being here

Yep. All good guys. I was talking to the band to make sure it was real before he came home from school, because I was hoping to tell him it was a hoax. It wasn't. Kid is doing pretty well, but talking to newspapers that were calling last night was tough. I finally told them to email. A lot of fans are crazy, and they're leaning on the 13 year old which is weird and pretty unfair. But that's people.
This was one of the articles from talking to him on the phone. I thought he handled it as well as he could...he didn't know what to say about it. Now there's a TV crew coming this afternoon. Why they care what he thinks is baffling. I gave him an out, but he wanted to take the chance to say thanks.
