1. Worried about losing momentum after the bye. Stupid to have it this early.

2. Hilbilly Johnson will be gone so it'll be Barbre and Wisniewski stepping in. I don't care for Barbre at tackle but I hope he's ready.

Lomas Brown can eat my meatcicle.

And Barry Sanders was the GOAT and it's not even close.

That's all I got.

1. do you mean stupid that the eagles have it or stupid in general? because the byes are even distributed over the course of time, meaning youre going to wind up late byes, early byes and midseason byes as the years go. if they had ALL the byes week 7-10, lets say, those weeks would be a complete disaster from a viewership perspective. fewer games, fewer chances to bet, some really good chances of complete national tv duds. then youd whine about that.

2. barber is about what youre going to get as a backup tackle. there are barely 64 good starting tackles in the league, let alone a good backup.

I hate them having an early bye. I know they're all spread out but I hate the week four-six ones.

Maybe that dope Johnson will think again before doing PEDs

[conspiracy theory] Wentz is the most popular player in the NFL right now, the Eagles are the most intriguing team, maybe the NFL lets Lane off the hook for Wentz's sake[/conspiracy theory]

so byes between weeks 4-6 should exist but the eagles should never have one?
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What

They should go to bad teams, not teams like the Eagles who we all knew would be super good this year.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What

Will never happen but all teams should have the same bye week after game 8. Yes it would blow not having football for a week but we'd all still find a way to live.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What

Maybe they could have some sort of exhibition game/skill challenges full of really good players during that bye week.

im confused what youre getting at...if you want all byes midseason then youre going to have like 10 games per week during that point, which makes for an awful sunday slate. or are you just complaining to complain

Bringing back the 2nd bye week makes way too much sense with the TNF games and if Goodell & the owners actually gave a single farg about player safety, they'd have implemented this at the same time they decided to start having TNF games every week.

Recall that this Lions team did curb stomp the Eagles by over 30 points less than a year ago.

Of course I try to block that out and remember the Snow Bowl and the Rodney Peete playoff game, two of the most joyous football games I have ever witnessed.

The Green Legion put together a party at the Linc for this game, you get to watch the game on the big screens from the field. Tickets were $40, but we got the open bar and buffet which comes to $90. If the weather is bad the Eagles don't want fans destroying the field, so they're going to postpone it for another game.

I can't remember the exact number but it is something like 8.25% of what the NFL has taken in for breast cancer awareness that actually went towards bc. And it is breast cancer awareness. Not treatment, not research, just "awareness." Such a fraud, worse than the military shams.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What

It's basically like if Goodell personally had a scam side business selling timeshares or something, and for a month each year, ads for that business were plastered all over the stadiums and uniforms.

They do it as a creepy way to market to women. If breast cancer is ever cured maybe they will switch the marketing gimmick to yeast infection month.

Agree, and it is not only creepy. There is something morally corrupt about using a serious issue like cancer to try and blow pink smoke up people's asses and make think they are helping a cause rather than being tooled for no other motive than corporate greed. And now we'll go to our Monistat Moment yeast catch of the day...

can you really even be mad....this is the eagles we expected from the start...its the reason why the first three games were so fun

i didnt expect the defense to get punked by matt stafford...but i also didnt expect them to do what they did the first 3

the answer is somewhere in the middle

i wont say i knew it was going to be this week but huge regression was coming...they played chi and cle and then over their heads against pitt

also detroits offense isnt horrible

Not bad to be down 11 getting the ball, considering that the Lions have scored a TD every time they've had the ball.

So far, this is 100% on the defense. When they aren't busy getting shredded, they're committing penalties....so many that the refs tried to pin an offensive penalty on a farging LB.

he tried to work the field....im assuming no one was open...but instead of going for the miracle shot he should have either checked it down or even just thrown it out of bounds....generic rookie mistake

Lions had no timeouts left.  A first down in bounds runs to the two minute warning and ends game.  Most important thing tho is you run the play most likely to get it not most likely to run the clock.  Wentz in third and short has been $$.  Some long developing pitch play seems really high variance to me.  Might rip off 11 yards but I can't imagine that's the best bet for 2 yards.

My view is first down was 100% the priority and clock shouldn't even be on the brain... giving the ball to Stafford with 2 minutes left needing 1 point isn't a confident winning look even if they start on their 15.

honestly don t even know why matthews was in the game there...should have run some read option with sproles...at the very least sproles in the backfield anywhere keeps the defense on their heels...with matthews they had their ears pinned back

Exactly

If you want that pitch to the short side Sproles is your guy

Defense was stellar in the second half until that little twat Golden Tate broke their back.

This team has no receivers and a fumbling feature back that was due for one.  Of course according to Charles Davis it was the greatest defensive play ever when DGB dropped the touchdown.  It was dropped.  DGB has to catch that.  Does he even have another gear?  Guy seems like he's just half assing it out there.

Where the hell was the "playmaker" Ertz today?

Buckle up gentlemen.

pretty much

you'd have to have one of those grainy super close up shots that you see sometimes showing a wr's foot out of bounds to have overturned that

I never saw anything in the replays that definitely showed a Lion touching the ball while out of bounds, so I thought the review was legit. Looking at it again however, Kelce was clearly humping the ball while his arm was out. Go to about 35 seconds:

Errands >>  entertainment

Anway...all I really care about is how Wentz looked.  From what I can tell, he did well but had an INT late, probably on some kind of last gasp throw?

Just being the usual bitches we are.

Wentz played good, not great but good.  Couple of drops - Beckham with a real bad one in end zone.  Birds got ball back down 1 with 1:38 left and no time outs. Just needed to get in FG range and Sturgis looked good all game.  Wentz decides to air it out to Agholor downfield on the first play and picked off.  Very bad decision.  Not a last gasp throw.  They had plenty of time.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: QB Eagles on October 09, 2016, 07:21:19 PM
Probably his worst game but he still looked good, Wentz wagon is still rolling.

Defense sucked in the first half, offense had two turnovers in the last 2:30 that cost them the game, refs sucked. That's all you need to know.

3-1. Just pretend the results of the Steelers game and Lions game were reversed and we'd all be pretty happy.

I'm not too upset about it, what the farg.  You have to call a play.  I just want to know who it's on.  Bad play call, game over.

I had them for 2 wins this year.  I'm already happy.  Wentz continues to give reason to hope that he's legit and Pederson isn't a train wreck.

No need to get defensive.

But really.  Let's call a play there that doesn't involve even possibly chucking the ball downfield to Nelson Agholar.  There are other options even in that situation.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: SD on October 09, 2016, 08:46:23 PM
INT was primarily Wentz's fault. Agholor wasnt open and he put it in a place where Slay could easily make the INT. Agholor sort of lost his footing going for the ball...some (post game radio callers who don't think anything is Wentz's fault ever) would call it a lackluster effort on his part.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: Diomedes on October 09, 2016, 08:51:50 PM
He should have thrown the ball out of bounds rather than attempted the pass to Agholar.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: ice grillin you on October 09, 2016, 08:56:19 PM
the int was 100% on wentz...it wasn't a  particularly bad throw just a bad decision in that he forced the throw trying to make something happen...it was a throw you make with 30 seconds left not a minute thirty

still it should never be forgotten that this teams wr's suck and that play was a perfect example....the line gave him tons of time and went thru basically every progression he had and still no one was open
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What

Jordan Matthews was MIA this week compared to what he's been. I'm guessing he was a focus for the Lions. Take away that catch that wasn't a catch along the sideline and his stat line was the same as DGB. Three fewer targets than Agholor.

Three fewer targets than a guy who is never open... that's not good.

Agholor farging sucks.  He has zero ability and his awareness on the field is non-existent.  Wentz made a big mistake assuming he would somehow do his job and come down with that ball.  Lesson learned (hopefully).

I have to assume that Howie sees the situation at receiver and will do something about it.  He's tried in a limited way already with DGB but it's clear that as a group they're just not good enough.

Matthews is a decent third receiver btw.  No more, no less.

As pissed off as I still am about yesterday, I am feeling really good about Bradham.  Guy is just a freaking beast out there.

Kendricks is playing so poorly right now.  He can't cover, tackle, looks lost.  I don't recall seeing any of this crap his first two seasons.  Yes he's always been undersized but I remember when he had a motor and it was exciting watching him play.  Now I cringe when he's on the field.
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 10, 2016, 09:44:32 PM
Agreed on both fronts.

I was a huge fan of Kendricks and didn't want to think they'd deal him. But something changed in his game, namely tackling, and he's not what he was his rookie year. He's pretty much pigeonholed himself into being a weak side LB who blitzes. That's his strength.

Bradham needs to kick the case of the dumbfargery and he will be that much better
Title: Re: Week 5 - Lions: Detroit What
Post by: Eagaholic on October 10, 2016, 11:15:51 PM
Bradham has made some good plays but he whiffed on at least a couple of other tackles that I saw. Their tackling in general needs to improve. And the outside contain. They can't keep getting burned with runners taking it around the edge. Especially earlier in the game neither DE or OLB was anywhere to be found outside. Wide-9 or not they have to clean that up.

Yeah, probably. It's like the bear that is shteinting in the woods and looks over and sees a rabbit shteinting also, and he bear asks "hey rabbit, do you have a problem with shtein sticking to your fur?" The rabbit says "no, why do you ask?" So the bear wipes his ass with the rabbit. I'm hoping the Eagles don't go from bear to rabbit in trying to clean things up.
