Isn't the practice squad like a reserve for the team?
Pretty much. But they can be signed by another team at anytime so long as the new team puts them on the active roster.
We better hope Schwartz is the defensive genius we've seen in the past because that offense is putrid. Running backs and Receivers are hovering at C-.
Tavarres is gone.
They are shopping 2nd-round bust Eric Rowe. Last year's draft is already a total charnel house, except for Hicks.
Joining Tavarres on the waiver wire are Jake Metz, Quentin Gause and McLeod Bethel Thompson
I have a feeling Gause goes to the PS
Marcus Johnson has been cut but is a PS candidate
They like him a lot
Edit - David Watford and Byron Marshall cut too
Countess and shteintu gone.
I hope Aziz ends up on the PS
Josh Andrews made it
Doesn't bode well for Vaitai or Tobin
Rookie UDFAs making the team: CJ Smith, Destiny Vaeao, HOF Turner
Ed Reynolds cut, again.
more like najee bad, amiright?
Najee Goode was cut. Don't get that one.
Full list;
Bethel Thompson
Najee Goode
Darrell Greene
Don Cherry
Cody Parkey
Marcus Johnson
Ed Reynolds
Blake Countess
David Watford
MJ McFarland

Quentin Gause
Cayleb Jones
Jake Metz
Cedric O'Neal
Chris Pantale
Aziz shteintu

They won't go into the season with 4 LBs so they have to add 1-2 there
Will they roll with 2 QBs?
By my count they're at 52

Najee Goode was cut. Don't get that one.
Probably because he's really bad at football. They'll pick up some other team's garbage instead.
Parkey really isn't a surprise. Neither are any of the other cuts.
I really like Reynolds, though. Too bad he didn't seem to pan out. I can't believe he's not a better guy to have especially on ST's than Watkins, but whatever.
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on September 03, 2016, 04:05:15 PM
Will they roll with 2 QBs?
Might as well. Worst case scenario: both QBs get injured during a single game, and the Eagles have to use an emergency QB in a game they were probably going to lose with their starting QB anyway.
Giants are keeping 2 also.
dont need a qb3 unless youre stashing one, like the initial wentz plan or barkley. if they wind up needing one, im sure bethel thompson will put down his whole foods membership card and come in.
So assuming Johnson is suspended they'll end up with 10 OL.
If they have to cut someone for a LB who goes? Vaeao? Gordon?
I think Goode comes back after week 1
And if they want a third QB Kevin Hogan was cut by Andy and they had some interest in him
Quote from: MDS on September 03, 2016, 04:16:07 PM

Jets kept four QBs. Wha?

I was thinking that too, then they don't have to guarantee his base salary. Still surprised they cut him. I think he can play either outside position and with with Kendricks injury history and Bradhams issues I don't think you can afford to go thin there. I'm also assuming the will backer is particularly important in Schwartz's wide nine system.Maybe Schwartz just trusts Tulloch more since he knows the defense.

lol...slow awful white safetys from stanford are awesome
Watkins really outplayed Reynolds in the preseason, no way they were keeping both guys.
Nm
DB Terrence Brooks Ravens
LB Kamu Grugier-Hill Patriots
WR Bryce Treggs 49ers
Waiver claims
Brooks is from Romey State and was a third rounder in 14. He's a safety/LB type.
KGH is a Pats 6th rounder from Eastern Illinois and played well on STs and can hit
Treggs went to Cal and ran a 4.39. The Niners tried to slide him onto the PS. Had a knee sprain in camp. Pimp Lite supposedly.
Looks like Turner will be cut.
My guess is Gordon and Vaeao also go.
Grugier is 6-2 215 and ran a 4.45
Brooks comes over likely because of Joe Douglas' influence from his days in Baltimore
Treggs is a farg you from Howie to Chip
And there it is
Paul Turned has been waived and will likely be signed to the PS if he makes it through unclaimed
CJ Smith is another who was cut and will try to be signed to the PS

It's being reported that both Smith and Turner will make the PS so now they have to dump someone
is the minutia surrounding the eagles hitting an apex now? ive seen an enormous amount of talk about those 2 losers making the PS, like it farging matters
if they didnt have preseason games you wouldnt have pretend coaches on their couches acting like they just know that midget scrub turner is destined for the hof
Quote from: MDS on September 05, 2016, 06:16:26 PM

about ten years ago
it gets worse every year...i thought henry josey and the nova scrub were bad, but paul turner blows them all away
to be fair to my man j he has been very quiet on turner and at least never publicly developed a crush on him
Is Turner the one who returned a punt in a pre season game this year? He's slow.
Yes.
And he deserves to be on a roster. It's not always about straight line speed.
Not surprising that lil guy is trying to take the fun out of being a fan again. We all should strive to be so unattached like he is.

nobody deserves anything. theres no participation trophies. hes slow, short and cant get open. no teams determined he was worthy of a roster spot. but the amateur twitter coaches know all.
henry josey also deserved a roster spot. IN CANADA.
Quentin Gause gets got to make room
Lighten up Francis. It's fun to try and identify players. If you don't like it? Cool. You don't even watch or like college ball so it kinda makes sense.

1. dont call turner a "player." hes a practice body
2. i like college ball
3. i watch college ball
but close!
And he did deserve a spot based on the spirit and idea of fighting for a roster spot
These guys are told to come in and fight and claw for those final 3-4 spots (sometimes final 1-2 spots) and when someone does just that and makes plays on limited reps that's the whole idea sold to these guys.
I'm glad a Turner made the squad. He earned it.
With social media, it just gives those people an avenue to get those opinions out there so there will be more and more of them. Plus the NFL's coverage is at an all-time high and will continue to be so. I wouldn't be surprised if in 5 years networks start having Supplemental Draft specials. That is how insane the NFL popularity is now with their off the field business matters.
With the coverage the way it is, more casual fans watch preseason now and read people gushing about undrafted rookies all over blogs, and they freak out if they get cut. It's really no different than your typical idiot casual fan saying Carson Wentz is a bust after one game, that idiocy is just redirected toward other football subjects is all.
PT be fightin hard for that PT

You can reason it however you want. I just posted the facts.
That's just math stuff. 7 draft picks a year, 3 year career length on average, that's just 21 of your 53 roster spots.

I'd imagine they cut an OL now and bring up Smith from the PS.
Or wait and do it whenever Johnson's suspension is announced.
Josh Andrews would probably be the guy they cut
Najee Goode is back.
Aaron Murray signed to the PS
Marcus Johnson released from the PS
MJ McFarland released from IR with an injury settlement
kacie mcdonnell left philly to follow a man to kansas city....that man was aaron murray who now plays for philadelphia
juicy gossip bro.
she currently humps eric hosmer

I think she just left KC and took a gig somewhere else too
she went to nesn
JaCorey Shepherd signed to PS
Darrelle Greene waived
QuoteOn September 21, they signed Shepherd and released Green. On September 27, they reversed the move. Now, on October 3, they revert to the first move.
Reid used to do this, too. Gives the players something of an incentive to stick around.
i wouldnt go far if i was greene
im guessing this means they get one more game out of lane johnson and then next week when hes officially gone they will bring greene back again
The appeal hearing for Johnson is today, so I think that takes effect this Sunday if he gets shot down as we all expect. So yeah, Green will be an Eagle again before gameday.
Edit: Looks like the suspension begins with the announcement, not the failed appeal, so it could be the following week.
Eagles RT Lane Johnson's appeal of a 10-game suspension for violating the PED policy will be heard Tuesday morning.
An announcement is not expected until next week, meaning Johnson should be able to play at least one more game even if the suspension is upheld. Allen Barbre will switch from left guard to right tackle if (once) Johnson is officially suspended.
yeah i was just about to say it normally takes about a week to 10 days for a decision to come down
I've been following this tangentially, because it just seems to be dragging on. Wonder if he'll catch a reduction, or whether it'll just be the 10 and tell him to hit the bricks.
from what ive read to get a reduction you have to have proof that someone tricked you or purposely lied to you about what was in the pills and from everything thats come out thus far on how it happened it appears as tho that is not his defense....i think his defense is basically claiming ignorance
I'd expect the 10 games to be upheld but I'd think the best argument for a reduction is that what he got clipped for originally is no longer a violation, so maybe making an argument to treat this as a first offense.
if it doesnt go well today they just need to take the 10 now
if lane comes back in 10 from sunday, his first game is thursday giants jawn, which is a silly game to come back for on a short week with zero practice time.
Agreed.
A reduction is highly unlikely. Take the L and get ready for the end of the season if there is a playoff push.
hes not coming back until week 16...not exactly enough time to make a playoff push...they are either going to be out of it then and it wont matter or they are going to be in the mix and if they are then they didnt miss him all that much anyway
They did the Shepherd - Greene swap again.
Also cut Don Cherry and added OL Matt Rotheram

Taylor Hart claimed on waivers from SF as the corresponding move to Brooks going on IR
Was Brooks any good?
Yeah he played nickel...so we'll see more of Mills/Jenkins/Watkins playing slot
I like Mills aka Motumbo. He sucks, but I like him. Hope his skills catch up to his finger wagging.
He was probably my favorite draft pick. I watch a lot of college ball especially LSU so I am really rooting for him.
The more I watch of Watkins the more playing time I think he deserves.
Yeah he went from about to be out of the league to a guy who can probably hang on for a couple years. Good on STs and the move to safety has helped him. I read an article about how the cut from the Eagles the first time opened his eyes and he realized he needed to work on a lot. So when in Buffalo he focused and here we are...
"On Monday, the team claimed defensive tackle Taylor Hart off waivers from San Francisco. Hart was just waived on Saturday by the 49ers, who claimed him after the Eagles waived him at final cuts."
"In addition to adding Hart to the active roster, the Eagles also added cornerback Aaron Grymes to their practice squad."
"To make room for Grymes, the Eagles cut OL Matt Rotheram from the practice squad."

lb - kendricks, bradham, hicks, gerry, 4
cb - mills, robinson, brooks, douglas 6
s - jenkins, mcloud, maragos 4
sp - sturgis, jones, dorenbos 3
pup - jones
mcallister and marcus smith have the inside track at de. destiny vaijo at dt. other than that....wide open.
most interesting spot will be the 4th running back (udfa? free agent?) and what they do with agholor/dgb. by the looks if it theres no room on the roster for them.
rb probably filled by training camp cuts...its a position that doesnt need much acclamation
gerry is probably a ps guy especially if they are changing his position...i could see him being the 5th or 6th lb but not the 4th...no way hes one injury away from starting at lb...last year was tulloch a long time veteranbacking up ....its not going to be gerry this year
another linebacker is coming from somewhere
http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/63145/Bears-decline-former-first-rounder-Kyle-Fuller-s-fifth-year-option/Default.aspx
Interesting. I'd definitely take a look. If he seems good medically I'd offer something to da bears. Maybe a 4th that can become a 3rd with good performance. Chi may well bite. Could solve the CB/DB issues in general. Add that to a good pass rush and we can be looking at something nice jelling by the end of the season. Pop LaGarrette Blount in the offensive backfield, pair him with Sproles and pepper in a little Pumphrey and Boom! FEF
youd have to be insane to give a 4th rounder up for someone who hasnt played in two years because of an iffy knee and might get cut this summer
So a 3rd then?

i see your point...maybe they IR him with a fake injury or keep 5 LBs and gerry is never active. goode is still on the roster.
I watched two mins of a 6 minute Gerry YouTube clip. I think literally 4 of the first 5 plays on the highlight reel he was flagged either for helmet to helmet or taunting. First thing that came to mind for me was McCoy redux.
The thing about the roster that leaps out at me is that the Eagles could go into next season still having total garbage at CB. Douglas has starting potential but a lot of the scouts seem to think he needs a lot of coaching, and he's dumb as a post. During the draft I saw one report, I forget where, saying he'll be ready to compete in his second year. He'll be the guy I'm most interested to see in the preseason.

the main reason for this is that hes always a step behind so instead of putting a pad on someones chest hes putting a helmet on someones head

exciting!!
Pumphrey sucks and they have a glut of players at RB, but I wonder if they are willing to expose their 4th round pick to the waiver wire. I'm skeptical.

That he does. I like what I've seen out of Barnett but Pomphrey and Gibson could be cut, they gave up a 3rd and Matthews for Darby who looks lost. They could have packaged a future 3rd and 4th, moved up a few spots, and drafted Lattimore.
But but but Barnett broke Reggies sack record at UT!

me and you both were not happy with the pick but i have to say all the returns so far are positive
Absolutely. But they needed a starting cornerback more than they needed a freaking backup defensive end. They overthought it just like they usually do. That's why the only thing they have sitting in the trophy case is dust.
if he doesnt start over vinny curry then blow the whole thing up

they got one.
how do you know this?
well they drafted one at least
fair enough
They didn't draft a 2017 starting CB. They easily could have but chose not to because THAT'S what they do.
sure...then their pass rush is weaker
Bullshtein. They could have drafted a backup DE anywhere or gotten one in free agency.
if barnett is a backup de then it might just be over
the idea is they grabbed a franchise edge rusher and corner in the same draft. its just 1 cant really play right away. next draft you go after running back. by 2019 you might have a super bowl team.

QuoteThe Philadelphia Eagles have announced 16 roster moves, bringing the current roster to 70 players.
The Eagles placed cornerback Sidney Jones on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, released quarterback Matt McGloin, and waived wide receiver Paul Turner with an injury settlement. The team also waived the following 13 players:
LB Don Cherry
DT Winston Craig
WR Rashard Davis
TE Anthony Denham
QB Dane Evans
LB Carlos Fields
CB Aaron Grymes
DE Jake Metz
C Tyler Orlosky
T Victor Salako
LB Christian Tago
DT Gabe Wright
TE Adam Zaruba
Orlosky may get claimed but I'd like him to make the PS
(http://rs205.pbsrc.com/albums/bb91/viktorkrumluisunoss/orly.jpg~c200)
Personally I hope he doesn't get picked up by anyone and his life falls apart because of it. He knows what he did.
Josh Andrews cut
There goes my chance to pull my Shawn Andrews jersey out of retirement.
Treggs
Billy Brown
Dillon Gordon

Only 8 OL
I'd imagine Shelton Gibson or Marcus Johnson would be the candidates to get cut for waiver claims.
probably gibson...he stinks

I don't get trading Tobin and Barbre for shtein even less now. Neither was going to make a pro bowl but each player providdd solid depth. They now have one reserve tackle, Peters is a wrong bend from retiring and Johnson is one piss test from banishment.
they will probably add a depth piece or felt confident a few of the guys they cut would make the PS
you can only have 45 up on gameday so im sure if theres an OL injury theyll make a move...or they may just make one tomorrow
And why in the world would you keep 5 running backs.
because they like pumphrey but hes not ready to play....im not sure this will be able to last 17 weeks. but for at least 1 week they have the roster space -- nobody is injured -- so why not.
by week 7 someone may get hurt, blount could prove himself to be useless, clement could show hes not an nfl player. and on and on
Stop making excuses, Howie
its not an excuse, its a fact. i mean i dont see the need for 11 skill position players but im not the one who took a midget rb and wr that cant get on the field
for the moment, though, they are covered o-line wise for the 45
Gonna give credit where credit's due here, since I expect to be mostly bitching once we get into the season.
I don't think the Eagles will regret any of their cuts. I understand not giving up on Pump or Gibson that quickly, although I think Gibson might be on the practice squad before kickoff on Sunday. The guys they had to cut to keep those two are at the same level as the guys they can pick up off the street mid-season if they have to, so no big deal.
The team is a dumpster fire only at CB. Howie's handed a workable 53 over to the head coach. Let's see what that dope does with it.

lol
the biggest mistake i ever made was hooking lil guy up with eagle season tix because four seconds after i did it he became the biggest eagle homer ever
he makes j look like me
i picked them to go 8-8 but dont freak out over having 8 OL on the 56 so HOMER
