multi-year deal. Bye Mark
We won't have buttfumble to push around any more.
Someone check on J?
o/u for what date j calls for daniels over bradford
he doesn't like daniel either
it was sanchez or bust with him
now its.....

Someone check on J
wonder if butt fumble has any trade value. Usually we'd all laugh at that notion but I didn't think Murray/Maxwell would garner anything of value
I have no idea if this guy is worth anything but he is the new coach's guy, and he isn't Mark f'n Sanchez so I approve.
I don't care for Daniel...wasn't for Sanchez (only over Bradford)
But yeah...Daniel will be starting soon enough when Bradford gets hurt and/or sucks
I think Sanchez does have trade value... the QB options out there are terrible and it's a fat cap year so maybe there's a team out there that won't mind paying the man.
J, the Eagles could actually keep Sanchez to back up Daniels and also trade Bradford now without taking any cap hit in the long run, so there is that.

huh
Ike Reese stirring the pot saying Bradford may be on the move. I can't see that, but it would completely eradicate Chippah's stain on the organization.

Edit: BB beat me to it.
or maybe Daniel is
Will be interesting to see what the Eagles do if one of the top two QBs start to fall in the draft.
Trade Bradford for a goddamn 2nd rounder

My thought, too. Bradford's signing bonus was structured so that the first half would pay in several days from now (2nd half in Sept), so they'd be off the hook for it all if they trade him soon, or eat $5.5m if they wait til the draft and take a QB then and trade Bradford. But presumably they'd get a decent pick back in a trade for losing that $5.5m so theoretically it wouldn't be bad at, and it would save $30 million in Bradford's salary. So, Howie may have been thinking along those lines as well.
AJ Feeley today is better than Bradford!
Actually, last year the Browns were going to give up a 1 or trade places in the 1st or something for Bradford, right? I don't think his stock has changed that much.
Bradford and the 8 for 2 and every scrap of evidence of last year's shteinshow would be gone.
Boom. That would be farging mind blowing and I'd like to see it. Who would have thought, even just a few days ago? I'd be happy to see them get Wentz or Goff and you have to think Peterson would love to get his guy in the draft and mold him. Only problem is Cle can get pick of the litter at QB, too. Depends how much they believe in Bradford.

$3M signing bonus (cap hit of $1M/year)
2016 = $1M (fully guaranteed) + $3M roster bonus
2017 = $7M ($5M guaranteed) + up to $6M in incentives
2018 = $7M (none guaranteed) + up to $6M in incentives
so basically that 3rd year isnt happening unless doug's wet dream of him being a starter becomes reality

To Miami!
How about to Denver? They're now desperate for a starter - their current targets might be Bob or Kap. Bradford has to be a better bet than either of those two. The last pick in the 1st would be pretty sweet.

his stock is way up....remember last year at this time he hadn't played a snap in the nfl for two years
Cleveland isn't even stupid enough to do that.
Still...
I don't even think it would be that stupid for them. A competent starting QB while keeping a top ten pick? Doesn't strike me as the most insane idea for either team.
ESPN's Adam Caplan reports the Eagles are expected to release QB Chase Daniel on Monday.
Daniel reportedly requested his release, and the Eagles are going to oblige. Philadelphia tried to trade Daniel before free agency, but they were unable to find any takers. Cutting Daniel will save the Eagles just $1 million against the cap while trading him would have resulted in a $6 million savings. Philly will certainly be working the phones hard to find anyone willing to take on Daniel's contract before they make the cut official.
basically they signed nick foles for 6 million dollars worth of dead cap space
why?
because doug pederson likes chase daniel
i read something about "offset language" in daniel's contract...and the eagles will "get back whatever his next team pays him". idk how true it is.
it was a twat.
Eagles owe him $5m guaranteed but he has offset language, so they'll save whatever his next team pays him. https://t.co/MOjdS886Qv

So if he's a total dick he'll take the league minimum to go back to KC?
All time bad contract here.
Not for a starter, it wasn't.
They gave Foles 2 years $11 million, that's an almost equally bad contract as they gave to Daniel. Don't see the point of making the change. If Daniel is unhappy boo farging hoo
$20M is the going rate for a starter these days. $5.5M is chump change for a #2. I'm not saying Foles is worth that, but that's what clipboard holders are getting paid.
Considering the offset of signing Foles and releasing Daniel what was the purpose of this move? Foles is no better or worse than Daniel.

its on the high end for a backup but foles has plenty of starting experience, so it comes with the territory
they could pay thad jones less than a mil to be the backup but thad jones has a 0% chance of winning a game should wentz get hurt. foles is...i guess sort of competent? in the least youd expect him to hold the fort down for a bit.
i would allocate my resources elsewhere if i were running a team, but i understand the need for an insurance option, especially when youre not even paying the starter that much.

Daniel asked to be released. Guess he thinks he can start somewhere. Eagles had the opportunity to oblige his request while signing a replacement who is also experienced in the offense. Might not be any net gain, but there's no loss either....though I think they did manage to slightly improve their backup position.
I'm pleased. Foles is a better QB.
My girl was asking about Foles of all people just last night. She asked if he was still playing.
I guess I have to give her an update.
I'll give her an update.
You will do nothing of the sort!
bye
