Sign with the Eagles!
Ryan Matthews sucks.
hes basically chris polk
He will snap his farging collarbone signing the farging contract
Another player with no durability.
WIP plays the best sound bite ever, it's Chip saying the best ability is durability.
Wait until sports science, the Navy SEAL dude and the smoothies get a hold of him...its alllllllll good, boys.
Is this official? I just see it being reported he's visiting.
i know this is redundant but this is seriously like how i fell when i draft my fantasy teams and realize that they would have been solid 5 years ago but not now.

Eagles and former Chargers RB Ryan Mathews officially have reached agreement on 3-year, $11.5 million deal that includes $5M gtd, per source
THE PLOT THICKENS!
His contract is not signed.
Could we have two NOT AN EAGLE threads in two days?!
"Well if Frank Gore can do it, we can to. Nanny nanny poo poo." - Chip Kelly, 3/12/15
And Mathews is IN the NCC right now.
That would be a bit awkward...
'Hey DeMarco - welcome!"
"Ryan - let us show you this side door here that leads out to the yard"
Two men, one football. Sounds like Bachelorette shtein going down at NovaCare
If the plan was to sign Murray then I like having Matthews on the team for if/when Murray gets hurt.

sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Murray will be an interesting test case regardless of where he signs. Historical comparisons are scary in regards to player's production after receiving the workload that he did. However, to counter that a bit, his previous workload was significantly lighter than most RBs who get run into the ground. (But to re-counter that, the reason for the lighter workload in the past was because he couldn't stay on the field so...)
Amateurish move by the Eagles if they don't sign him
All part of the business
Amateurish move by Frank Gore then too, right?
Exactly. Backing out of a verbal agreement is part of the deal. Players do it. Teams do it. Accept it or whine about it, but don't chastise one side and not the other.
If I was days away from proposing to my wife, then all of a sudden I find that Selena Gomez has a fetish for middle-aged white guys with small lips and wants to spend her life with me, I'm choosing Selena.
It's a business about trying to make the team as strong as it can be with the resources it has. I have no problem if it means hurting Matthews feelings. I'm pretty sure the majority of players themselves don't give two fargs about the feelings of a franchise and it's fan base.
I was farging with QB you cranial lumps who called gores move amateur...hilarious tho that j missed the post critical of the guy who dissed the birds but not the ripping the birds
Supposedly they might sign both players, which I'm 100% on board with. Chip wants a running team and a QB who can make quick throws. If you have Murray/Mathews/Sproles that's a lot of weapons out of the backfield, if Bradford's knees don't fall off he has a much quicker release than Foles. Hopefully they can add a WR in the draft and a guard along the way and suddenly the offense looks formidable.
If Murray signs he instantly becomes a fan favorite in Philly for spurning the Cowboys
If he's just using the Eagles for posturing for a bigger deal with Dallas he instantly becomes the most hated athlete in Philly.
There's no in between...unless he does something stupid like signs with the Raiders.

Mathews has a physical scheduled off site for this hour. So nothing final yet.

I really don't give a shtein who the running backs are in his offense as that is the one part that is 100% system based...a rookie can be more or less be as productive as demarco Murray...it's all about the play action the options the formations and the play calling fooling the defense...if the execution is there then there is gonna be huge holes...so while I wouldn't be mad at a demarco Murray signing I don't see the sense of having any big salary backs in chips offense...I would rather allocate the funds to other positions or re ups
Demarco Murray AND Matthews is just straight up dumb imo
QuoteESPNStatsInfo: Among FA RBs, DeMarco Murray 2nd in yds/rush in shotgun last 2 seasons (1: Ryan Mathews)

2015 off season summed up.
My guess is Chip is planning on running a lot next year and knows he can't feed either of these guys 300 carries.

Yeah but you don't need Ryan Mathews to accomplish this.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he tries to get both of them the ball 200 times and Sproles and Polk 50-75 times each. Dudes gonna run the ball an insane amount.
And somehow Riley Cooper will still have 20 drops.

For the record, I would have agreed with this, although my understanding earlier in the day was that Mathews was the one who had not yet put pen to paper. [And I wouldn't have called it a bitch move for Mathews to back out; the Eagles changed the whole context of the deal after the agreement.]
As for signing both, he's collecting good players (and yeah, I think Mathews is good when healthy, which is not often). Seems clear that Murray wasn't part of the plan but desperately wanted to take his talents to South
Beach Philly to join his boy, and the Eagles had to be interested in a great RB that also happens to stick a dagger into their divisional rival.
An impulse buy for Chip. Seems like it could backfire even more than the Bradford trade, but at least there's significant upside here.

He won't have 20 drops. He'll just fail to catch 60% of the passes intended for him because, despite his height and hair, he can run or catch a fade and can't out fight anyone for a reception.
Also he's a racist piece of shtein, but we weren't talking about that.
