Title: Post Game Musings
Post by: ice grillin you on December 20, 2014, 08:02:42 PM
lets start off by saying that I have never been more mad at an eagle game in my life....and that includes the bedwetter in 08 putting up 3 in DC that caused me to pout and not go to the infamous dallas game at the linc the next week

1. first and foremost this was a coach loss.....ive never seen a team so utterly and completely unprepared for a game that meant something...i was not a fan of chip Kelly being hired to begin with....but i kept an open mind...end of the day hes just another college coach trying to make a quarter outta 15 cent in the nfl...please for god sakes stop with the genius shtein....on a micro level his call to not go for it on the second parkey miss was inexcusable...and yes i was going off the second they didn't convert on third down to go for it

2. i will farging kill myself if i ever hear again about how fast chip Kelly runs a play or how many plays chip Kelly runs in a game....i could run 105 plays in a game if i threw 97 6 yard in's

3. i told you so part I: eagles would lose at least one of their last two games.....that's what they do

4. i told you so part II: letting pimp go was a colossal mistake...all you rap and gold chain hating its all about the system people can kindly shut the farg up now

5. i told you so part III: jeremy macklin is a fraud number 1 wr....dooks was invisible the entire farging game until not by chance a throw to him was picked....anyone who ever again says hes as good as pimp needs to be put down and im normally anti capital punishment

6. i told you so part IV: their wr corps is terrible....to think you could go into this season with those guys is a fireable offense

7. how may time does Bradley fletcher have to get toasted before billy davis will put in Nolan carroll....its farging infuriating and he should be fired....they hired a bum DC whose defenses were never better than 28th in the nfl at the time and guess what....their DC still isn't good....nice hire genius chip

8. you know what YOUR team accomplished this year that no one else has?....they got rgIII to break dance on the field and lil Danni Snyder to fist pump in the owners box....don't ever ever ever again make a laugh at the Washington team thread

everyone die

Pretty much.

But Maclin did make a nice play along the sidelines and the ball that was picked was behind him. That's all on Sanchez.

The penalties...continuous turnovers....not only not yanking Fletcher last week but allowing him to run singled up today....not going for it when your kicker is struggling...red zone struggles...all farging disgusting and disgraceful.

To lose to a 3-11 team in a stadium loaded with your own fans is a farging disgrace. And don't tell me your team isn't Undisciplined Chip...when you have double digit penalties and repeated farg ups. Just shut your farging bitch mouth! This loss is on YOU Chip.

Ive spent the last four years ranting about him....no one went more off on him when he was farging hired much less since then...this is a post game musings thread not a last three drafts and free agents thread

I'll drive Chip down to Florida.

This team has not been prepared for three straight weeks.  OK, yes Seattle has the greatest defense and Richard Shermen is God, etc. etc., but Joe College version 1 totally outcoached Chipper.  Ginger outcoached him last week and today this team couldn't muster up enough balls to put a 3-11 joke of a team away.  Unacceptable.

@ScottHanson: Since '90, 123 teams started 9-3.  Only 2 didn't make the playoffs. ('93 Dolphins, '08 Bucs).   <Eagles were 9-3>

MERRY fargING CHRISTMAS!!!

farg Billy Davis.
farg The Genius
farg Cary motherfargin Williams
farg Bradley motherfargin Fletcher

Stupid arrogant football coaches and their goddamn systems can farging shove them right up their farging iceholes

The QB sucks and the corners suck. They aren't just mediocre, they suck. When's the last time someone got to 11 wins with that combo? What team is gonna get to 11 wins this year with that combo?

A lot of other things could be improved about this team, but I think those three players overwhelm everything else wrong with this team. The ceiling is kinda limited when those are the guys on the field.

oh what a great team they have....getting to ten wins with such terrible players....im so proud of them and can only hope they have as great a season as they did this year next year...chip Kelly is the only coach on the planet that could have guided this team as far as he did

Let's start off by saying I love how IGY starts a whole thread and sneaks in his 'excuse' for not making the Dallas v Eagles game that year in '08.  :-D

I stopped reading after that. East Coast fans are the best!

I find it hard to be mad.  I wasn't mad at all watching.  Their season ended last week (really, two weeks ago).  I was revved up for the Seahawks game but when they got beaten to the extent that they did, which guaranteed no bye basically, any dream of going anywhere in the playoffs ended, so I just didn't have the same enthusiasm against Dallas, and certainly not yesterday.

That being said, the holes on this team are obvious.   The front 3 is good - Logan and Thornton are fine.  Cox has become the best player on the team the second half of the year.   Kendricks and Barwin can be starters on a good defense.  The other two LB slots need to be addressed.  Cole still has flashes but he gets beaten too often, and you can't count on Ryans being back next year.  Curry and Graham are fine as 3rd down rushers but you need at least one other legitimate LB.

The secondary is gross.  Boykin has gotten beat far more this year than last, Allen is below average, and Williams/Fletcher are beyond terrible as a starting CB tandem.  Cary can have good games if refs are allowing more contact, but he really isn't a starting corner and Fletcher is even worse.   Part of it is scheme though because how often are you going to leave a slow corner who can't track the ball 1on1 on the outside against Bryant and Jackson?  Cary can't run with Jackson either but at least he would usually make sure he didn't get off the line cleanly every play.  Jenkins is fine but that's now twice in 3 weeks he's dropped big pick6 opportunities.   Certainly no need to replace him and I am fine with Boykin still but they need 3 new starters in the secondary.

The offense is a mess.  Play calling has become increasingly vanilla (I attribute some of this to Kelly seeing limitations in his QB, but you need to innovate at that point to make them successful and I haven't seen that).

The OLine is still pretty good but Mathis/Herramens/Peters aren't getting younger.  You need an OLineman drafted in the first 3 rounds if only so Andrew Gardner isn't the first player in when someone gets hurt.  The depth is awful and you need someone ready for when some of these guys inevitably start to decline more.

QB play has been a joke this year.  You can't win with their turnovers.  Period.  Sanchez is playing like a worse version of Chad Pennington.  Even against Washington you can see the limitations when teams don't even need to cover more than 10 yards downfield.   He is competent enough to be a perfectly fine backup but you're in trouble if he plays more than a game or two.  Foles was a different kind of bad.  Just seemed rattled all year.  At least he was willing to throw downfield.  You lose the utility of someone like Sproles when you make him your first or second read instead of your last which Foles understood better.  Still, Foles isn't the future either.  I expect him to be the starter next year though.

McCoy wasn't as good this year but the running backs are fine.  TEs are fine too.  Ertz was underutilized this season but he's never going to be a game breaking TE.  He should catch 65 passes but he's obviously never going to become a Gronkowski or Graham or Gates.  Wide receivers need to be upgraded.  [insert igy comment].  Maclin has been good all year.   His production has taken a hit with Sanchez because Sanchez won't throw the ball more than 8 yards.  Cooper needs to go.  I didn't see anything encouraging from Huff.  Matthews is fine as a slot WR though he drops too many passes.  So they need someone opposite of Maclin who is a substantial upgrade over what they have.

QB/WR/OLine depth/LB/CB/S and maybe new D coordinator.  Simple.  :boo

Is the FA pool for WR ridiculously deep or is the website i'm looking at just not updated?

Really wouldn't mind a Maclin/Cobb combo next year.

Actually really wouldn't mind that at all....GB may let him go if they like Adams enough. Little bit smaller than Maclin, but they're similar guys. Good route runners, can go over the middle, but also fast enough to get downfield. I'll take that combo.

So you're saying the youngest UFA WR who also caught for 1000+ yards this year would be an upgrade over Riley Cooper?

They could sign old as dirt Wes Welker and it would be a huge upgrade. But I was just enjoying the thought of that combo outside.

Fortunately the bar is so low, finding a substantial upgrade opposite of Maclin shouldn't be difficult.

Admittedly I don't watch enough college football but what about drafting Cody Fajardo in the 4th or even the 3rd? He seems like he has the skill set for Chip's offense.

That sounds great no way it's happening. They'll probably re-sign MacLin and call it a day at the wr spot. They used a 2nd and 3rd on a wr last year. Cobb is s fine compliment in the slot with a big time wr and qb. Chip likes bigger Wrs too

yup.....not only does chip want big and long they dont need a small slot guy....they need a big studly X wide out

in fact I think mack would be the ultimate slot guy....my dream would be to get two legit split ends one of which can stretch the field put mack in the slot have have Mathews as your 4th wr

not gonna happen but one can dream

True on the big guys, but Chip could always be fwapping to Matthews for all we know as his "big guy".

Sadly, you're probably right on them re-signing Maclin and rolling with Cooper/Matthews again.
