Title: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on December 15, 2014, 03:16:41 PM
RGIII is playing.

Beat their ass and watch Dallas lose to Indy and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE win the East.

Mark Sanchez is still their quarterback and the defense couldn't stop a team full of sleepwalkers.

Stop it.  Just stop it, Jay.

So they're going to lose to Washington?
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: hbionic on December 15, 2014, 04:35:48 PM
That was the season last night. There's no hope of anything, even if they go to the playoffs. Maybe they can give Tampa their playoff spot if they qualify.

There was never any hope in the playoffs for this team, but the postseason is still more enjoyable without Dallas in it.

Playoffs are great and it would be exciting and all but honestly no one on this board can paint a scenario where these clowns could win.  Maybe they could beat Detroit BUT aaahhhhh, iffy.  They make the playoffs and Howie thumps his chest and plays the "hey, two straight playoff appearences" card.  Maybe a good kick in the penis will wake this FO up.  It's worked in the past.   ::)

Did pimp play yesterday?

farg all that noise - just get into the playoffs and anything can happen.

Foles will be ready by then
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: Rome on December 15, 2014, 05:41:24 PM
I hope they lose out at this point.  There's no point in going to the playoffs with this zesty defense.  I'm sick of one and done in the playoffs anyway.  Lose out, get a better draft slot and then pray to God they're smart enough to address this pitiful goddamn secondary.
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: hbionic on December 15, 2014, 05:44:47 PM
Phreak, I'm normally right there with you...but what I thought what was going to be one of those teams that 'had it in them'...just isn't reality.

I normally don't give up until the end, but when the eagles took the 24-21 lead last night and then the D allowed the fargtards to march right back up the field and score...that was it for me.

Right now they're #20 and would only get to about #17-#18 if they lost both, so tanking does nothing at this point

Not sure if it was covered in the other topics yet, but here's the Eagles playoff scenarios:

-- Dallas clinches the East with a win + Eagles loss
-- The Eagles clinch the division with two wins + 1 Cowboy loss OR a split + 2 Cowboy losses
-- The Eagles can get a wildcard with two wins + any of Seattle (ha), Green Bay (ha) or Detroit (hmm) loses both

I'm chucking it in for this season and most likely next season also. This team won't win until/unless Chip gets the qb he wants for his offense, a wr that can stretch the field and the secondary gets blown up. I thought it would be 3-5 years before we would see if Chip makes the Eagles an elite team or not. I'll admit after last year I thought it might happen a lot sooner but now this team looks a mess compared to last year. Their record is a lie. They can't play well against good defenses and just about any team that has a decent o-line can score on them.

They could possibly get a real quarterback, get some good secondary help and shore up the defense, but if that doesn't happen soon when they finally do get right with all that then they'll be looking for a new runningback because Shady doesn't look long for the NFL. The draft these next few years is key for Chips job, imo.

Their schedule is so much weaker next year and they get the NFC West opponent here. At New England is probably their only guaranteed loss (unless you miserable Fs are already marking the home game against Dallas as one too)

lol...oh my

homer stuff aside and you def are a magical one you did have them 3-1 against the nfc west THIS year so i could see how you think they will probably be undefeated next year
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: BigEd76 on December 16, 2014, 11:34:29 AM
Yep, I should've marked Arizona as an automatic L since all the experts had the Cards going for HFA throughout back in August.  I also had the Eagles beating Seattle since it was a cross-country game between the two Niners matchups, but hey, we all predicted the Niners collapse, Foles getting knocked out for two months and Shady being a non-factor for most of the season

H = Saints, Bucs, AZ/SEA, Bills, Dolphins
A = Falcons, Panthers, GB/DET, Patriots, Jets

You don't think that schedule with Foles* looks easier than this year's schedule with Sanchez starting half of it?

Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: shorebird on December 16, 2014, 12:19:23 PM
Who said they were losing to the taterskins? Even if they win the division, make the playoffs, they aren't going to the championship game or winning the Superbowl and at this point in the franchises history that's all the matters to Eagle fans. All making the playoffs means to this franchise is that they won't have as good a draft as they would if they hadn't made them.
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: rjs246 on December 16, 2014, 12:28:24 PM
I agree of course that they are not a team that is capable of winning the SB, but I would rather watch a playoff game this year than not. That's not always the case. But unless they're getting MM, which they aren't, their first round draft position means very little to me. They have a good number of holes to fill and I don't trust them to do any better with the 20th pick than with the 24th pick.
Title: Re: Week Sixteen - Washington
Post by: smeags on December 16, 2014, 12:37:18 PM
the issue isnt so much where they pick, its who they pick. another marcus smith should bring about a curb stomp for the person who makes the final call.

do you have any idea how much teams can change thru free agency and the draft not to mention thru a training camp....you above just reeled off a bunch of things that happened this year that made predictions difficult...now you are predicting 2015 in december 2014??

this times a million percent...draft position in the nfl isnt that important compared to other sports and its certainly not important when picking lets say 22nd versus 18th....the important thing is that you take earl thomas and not brandon graham and kelvin benjamin not marcus smith...id much rather have the faint hope of making a playoff run than a slightly better middle of the first round pick...shtein id much rather have the three hours of excitement that one playoff game would provide than a draft bump

bills just beat the packers and are a qb away from being legit
dolphins will be a totally different team with harbaugh
seattle and green bay are still going to be great
falcons will be a totally different with not mike smith as coach
panthers need 1 wide out and greg hardy back

easy.

you gotta believe chip and howie are on the clock this offseason

list of moves that worked
-jenkins
-sproles
-matthews, sort of

list of moves that didnt
-sanchez as the backup
-keeping allen
-keeping williams
-keeping fletcher
-drafting smith
-drafting huff
-cutting pimp
-resigning cooper
-not benching fletcher until the 4th qtr of the 15th game of the season

they got a lot to fix. if they dont, i easily see lurie doing something. howie, obviously, takes the fall first.

NFC was a much weaker conference back then though.  And Andy did have his franchise QB in place plus a stud defense and a legit DC.  Not saying Chip is better, but Andy came into a much better situation than Chip and the Eagles didn't blow a bunch of draft picks in Andy's first couple years either.

The problem with his statement is he's not wrong.  They have no one better than Bradley Fletcher & Cary Williams on that team.   Think about that.  Their defensive backs are so galactic in their awfulness, they have no choice but to leave them in.  Whose fault is that, I ask?

Todd Bowles couldn't coach this shtein, and he's like DC of the year with the Cards.

Just maybe it's the players.

No dc in their right mind would have Bradley Fletcher running down the sideline against the likes of Jordy Nelson/Dez Bryant/Desean Jaccson without safety help. How many times do we have to see him beat one on one before you know he can't handle thst assignment on his own. Late Allen finally helped him on the one play and it was a pick

Seriously.  Cox, Kendricks and Barwin.  I like Jenkins too but they could improve there as well.

Even if they replace Jenkins, 7 starters need to go on defense.  That's not going to happen overnight especially with Roseman at the helm.

That RGIII pass was a duck that Fletcher actually would have had a decent shot at. I'm trying to think of when I've ever seen Allen provide effective over-the-top help. I know I've seen him burned right along with the corners. Last I remember, that was his assignment on John Brown.

Maybe there are things Davis can do, but I'm not buying that Allen or Carroll is a magic pill hat Davis is refusing to swallow. When you have bad players in your secondary, good receivers will get open.

Remember the Eagles have a bust named Jaylen Watkins. Too bad he can't play.

exactly....hes so farging stubborn its insane...and they actually have a good 3rd corner...im not saying Nolan carroll would turn the team around but jesus Christ hes probably better than Williams or fletcher

as for allen over the top not defending him at all he stinks but teams have been running go routes literally on the sideline against fletch....no safety in the nfl could get over to where dez and pimp were catching balls the last two games

bottom line is that the dc coord. is a bad or maybe wore than the talent he has

What's even worse than Davis' arrogance and/or stupidity

Is the farging HEAD COACH doesn't override the insanity and tell him "yo Billy put Carroll in"

well you are talking about an offensive head coach who rewarded a terrible pass catching racist with a long term deal and went into a season with jeremy maclin kkk and a rookie as his wr corps.....id say he has some stubbornness issues of his own to work thru

Truth hurts. Ouch.

QuoteIt was his 13th turnover in a little more than 71/2 games. That's about par for his course. Sanchez had 98 turnovers in 62 games in his previous life as a New York Jets quarterback. He is what he is, and that is a decent backup. But he is not a reliable long-term starter.

not sure sanchez starting will make a huge difference in the final outcome.

barkely would just make it a quicker death.

I'm more concerned (curious, really) with who will be starting at corner. I actually hope they start Fletcher because I want to see how badly OBJ eats him up.

id like to see them have boik boik shawdow him..obj primarily has lined up outside but hes been in the slot a decent amount as well as in the backfield and bunch sets...they move him all over...plus even when outside hes constantly changing sides of the field...and were they to put fletcher or cary williams on him youd see him take them in the slot all destroy them all day long...boik is the one guy on the eagles that could follow him around and have a chance at covering him

Would it help you to feel Billy Davis' pain more if you watched Odell toast Nolan Carroll all day? Or combinations of Fletcher and Allen and Williams and everyone else who can't play worth a damn in that secondary?

Haven't actually watched a second of football this weekend.  First time that's happened since... I don't know when.

Feels good, actually.  More relaxed than I've been in a long time.

If I had actually watched the Eagles game...  :boom
