Title: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: ice grillin you on November 11, 2014, 01:17:01 PM
what % win chance you got the eagles on?

Percentage is the same as the temperature. Rodgers is gonna shtein all over these DBs.

Get pressure on Rodgers...Billy Davis needs to gamble on some blitzes in order to force him to get off his spot.

I give the Eagles a 40% chance

50%

Eagles have an odd defense, they get a lot of sacks and force a lot of turnovers but also give up a lot of points. We keep waiting for that to end but they keep doing it. The Bears blow so I wouldn't use last week as any gauge of how good the Packers are. They can be beat. If the Eagles win it'll be in a similar fashion to how they beat the Colts. I see a close game.

99% chance of a loss or a win.

1% chance of a tie.

100% chance I'll be shteinfaced by halftime.

I expect the Eagles to lose a close game.  30-27 or something like that.  This is the hardest game left on their schedule by a fair margin to me.

they arent getting any stupid free interceptions like they got off scam newtown and fyan ritzpatrick, but yet they still need to create turnovers. ok 15 percent.

i think it comes down to their pass rush.  if they go all blood lust rape festival like they did yesterday on rodgers then i think they win.  if they give him time i think they get embarrassed.

I'm afraid the Packers offensive line isn't as terrible as the mannequins Carolina stands in front of Cam.

Based on the money lines that are out there, the Eagles have about a 30% chance of winning. I'm confident that Vegas has the odds closer than CF does, so I'll go with that.

It opened at 7 on sports book prior to the Eagles playing.  Most places had it not listed and after the Eagles game opened it at -5 per vegasinsider.

You can run all day on that Packers defense. If Shady doesn't show up in this one, especially if it means relying on Sanchez throwing the deep ball in the cold, the Birds are farged.

no doubt.. and rodgers is probably more mobile than cam at this point anyway and craftier in the pocket.  but whether they resemble the pass rush of earlier in the season or from monday night and the giants game is basically going to be the game.  those DB's can't hang with anyone never mind rodgers getting in a groove.

Those Packers throwback uniforms just don't look right without leather helmets.

The Eagles midnight green is horrible. Nike finally unveils their version of the midnight green and it's a tealish green disgrace.

Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid

what I like - Eagles are tackling well. the D has really tightened up well there, converting pressures to sacks, reducing RAC and even able to get a stop in short yardage.

what I don't like - Sanchez needs to get more zip on the ball, especially on the outs. He was lucky not to throw a couple of pics last week. Also the QB-C exchange. Kelce is still not right, lucky not to have had a couple turnovers there as well.

what I hope - the D can keep getting to the QB. Probably their biggest key to a win given the assumption that Rodgers should torch the D. Also hope the ST can somehow pull off another huge play.

99% of us on this board had this as a loss from the minute we saw the schedule.  I just want the birds to show up, give title town Pack a game, Sanchez to take a step forward and give us some hope down the stretch run, the Secondary to have a pulse and shady to shut the world up and peel off a few beauty's.

Rodgers may be due for a dud but it ain't happening today.

Most of the country has written off the Eagles in this one but I give them even chances. Rodgers can beat the Eagles but that doesn't mean the rest of the team can.
Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: Sgt PSN on November 16, 2014, 07:56:48 AM
I'm thinking this could be one of those "team with the ball last wins" kind of games.  In order for that to happen though, Sanchez has to play turnover free and Shady needs to be effective, if not dominant.

Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: Eagaholic on November 16, 2014, 08:18:53 AM
Yeah, GB can be had in the run game but I'd actually like to see a little more of Sproles and Polk running, especially later in the game.
Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid

I want more running generally, regardless of opponent.  The run/pass ratio has wandered into Andy Reid territory of late and I hate it.

I think that has more to do with game flow and teams loading the box.  When the Eagles are running effectively, Chip keeps feeding the backs. When they avg 2 ypc he goes to the air more. Can't say I blame him either.
Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: Diomedes on November 16, 2014, 09:52:36 AM
Yeah, I get that but I think he could be more stubborn about establishing the run.  He's got the talent and the whole system is predicated on the run, AMIRITE?  I'd much rather see three and out runs in Q1 than three and out passes.  We're getting too much of the latter.
Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: General_Failure on November 16, 2014, 09:54:30 AM
The run game isn't going to improve when teams aren't worrying about the passing game beating them deep. Sanchez needs to throw a little better, receivers can't let the ball bounce off their hands, and Cooper needs to have a career ending knee injury.
Title: Re: Week 11 - Frigid
Post by: Diomedes on November 16, 2014, 09:56:25 AM
Whatever.  Especially now that Sanchez presents at least the possibility of gaining 4 yards on a keeper, I demand more running, dammit!

sprolk has been in the game 40% of the time the last two weeks....not sure they need to go higher than that....even with his drop off shady is still easily the best back on the team

I think Sproles needs a few more touches on O.  It's fine if that's in the passing game but his workload has been down quite a bit since coming back.  I'm not asking for him to be the feature back but think he should get 5 more touches or so.

At the beginning of the season I thought the offensive line was to blame for Shady's low numbers, but now as the line gets healthy, he just doesn't look like he did last year, he's not cutting quick like he did to and he doesn't explode through the holes like he did before. He looked like he might be getting something back a couple weeks ago but last week just looked slow to me. I'm starting to think igor was right.

he had too many touches last year....even the eagles knew this.....thats part of the reason they got sproles...but to legendz point I am surprised they havent given sproles more touches this year

Well they're passing more and you really can't argue that it hasn't been working. Still, I'm wondering if they have the qb that Chip really wants or needs. Could you imagine a guy like Rodgers running this offense??

That's what I'd like to think. Either that or he sees the same thing Igor does and that I've come too. That he's lost his burst and can't cut like he used too and he just thinks it's not productive to give him the ball as much.

i get it...but i knew they werent winning, nor could they do. they dont have the personnel to contend with rodgers on the road. they can  still maybe win out and wind up 13-3....all in all im not losing my mind here.

well the man coverage plan is working quite well.  it's like a good plan if you have a good secondary.  maybe they'll adjust that at half time when their down 45.

i don't think anyone was actually confident they were winning.  getting run over isn't fun no matter what.  the silver lining is it shows the front office and chip how far away they actually are from contending.  they still can't play with the big boys.

Yep said that.

Sanchez had zero chance on pressure here especially the Matthews sack.  Rodgers has had almost no pressure and GB's line isn't even that good.  Matthews not catching the long pass ended whatever chance they had to pretend to make this a game.

it might have been some what contained by realizing sometime during the course of the slaughter that bradley fletcher cannot cover jordy nelson straight up.

also since they've shown signs of being able to get some pressure recently it was a little encouraging that it might be able to slow rodgers down some what. nobody showed up in any aspect of the game and is pretty much the most disappointing.  it's not that they lost.. it's how they lost.  the game was never competitive and as i said before the only thing that can really be taken from is that they can't compete with playoff teams yet. hopefully the front office realizes this and doesn't keep drafting marcus smith 1st round projects.

exactly. rodgers is going to put up his points and odds are he was going to win anyway. the key was it was a momentum game to keep pace.  but any time the eagles had a chance to grab some they did something horrible.  also the offense has become predictable and the line has regressed terribly this year. play of the game was mccoy getting tackled on first contact by matthews backside while being held.

remember they wouldnt be able to offer oakland a top pick in 2015....or maybe ever. every pick would be assumed to be in the low 20's, so it would just be an insane package.

I was just kidding....wash had to sell the farm for rg3 and they were in the top 10....no chance the birds can move up

What sucks is, even if the Eagles could move up, it's still such a gamble. RG3 sucks

Who's more salty, you over missing out on Gus or Phreak over McNabb and Trotter playing in Washington. I'll leave Jackson out since no one's happy about that.

if they finish 8-8 it would help their chances of moving up to get MM

just saying

They might lose to the Seahawks, but they'll still slightly better than the rest of the schedule.

anyway, the packers score on everyone and with the rule changes the days of players giving each brain damage that you grew up in are over. its all about the passing games, and specifically, the qb. mark sanchez, nick foles, not good enough. ya know buddy.

Sanchez eats a fat dick.  The offense played lousy and the running game remains a huge concern.  Matthews was good and so was Maclin.  Cooper sucks, etc...

But the defense was the problem today.   I'd rather lament their horrifying disappearing act than worry why Mark Sanchez throws picks and coughs up the ball with alarming regularity.  He's a stop-gap at best, so fretting over his bullshtein is really ridiculous.

Had the same argument with my son today!   He was all on board that Sproles was a legit replacement.  I had to "kindly" remind him, being the Chargers fan he is, that Sproles is not 22 years old.  I cringe everytime he takes a hit.

Sometimes I spell Cooper with a K.

Funny story, although some of you will be butthurt by it:

My cousin's had the same boyfriend since high school, they've been together for 15 years. He happens to be black. Yesterday he comes in without her, we ask him where she is and he calls her a racist bitch. They got in a fight at the grocery store and she dropped the N word on him. First time doing that since they've been together. So first quarter of the Eagles game is on and she's still not there, so Cooper catches a pass and I  comment "too bad she's not here her favorite player caught a pass". She walks in the door 10 minutes later and we all did the Cooooop chant.
