Holy crap that's a lot of bad players. Looks like you could damn near field an entire team of them, too. We'll see if anyone signs Henery.

Also, don't forget DRC.

I was surprised he was.  I googled the requirements, and this is the best I found:

Article from ninersnation.com:  Link (http://www.ninersnation.com/2014/8/30/6085143/nfl-practice-squad-salary-rules-player-eligibility-49ers)

QuoteIn order to be eligible for the practice squad, players must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have no prior Accrued Seasons in the NFL (An accrued season is six or more games on the active roster);
  • Have one prior Accrued Season in which the player was on the 45-man active roster for no more than 8 games;
  • NEW RULE: Each club will be permitted to sign a maximum of 2 Practice Squad players who have earned no more than 2 accrued seasons of free agency credit;
  • If served two seasons on a practice squad, are eligible for a third season only if the team has at least 53 players on its active/inactive list for the duration of that player's employment.
  • A player has served one season on the practice squad if he is on the practice squad for at least 6 games. The rule previously required 3 games on the practice squad roster.

Yeah the rules are kind of impenetrable. It's gotta be a pain in the ass for even the teams to track that.

Bironas and Henery both tried out for the Lions last week. If that went how I think it went, Henery wasn't in line for the job.

On the other hand, maybe Bironas decided to drive into some trees when he found out he's not even as good as Henery anymore.

I usually don't feel bad for professional athletes, but it's hard not to with Henery. Not because he got a raw deal or anything, but to have something you've spent your whole life worked toward fall apart so completely so fast has to be tough.
Title: Re: 2014 Ex-Eagles In The NFL
Post by: Sgt PSN on October 06, 2014, 01:56:11 PM
I always feel bad for the guys who spent more time in the league, making more money than their skill set should allow for.

I don't hate the guy or anything but he lasted 2+ yrs in the league and can't kick beyond 40 yds or hammer the ball through the end zone in a farging dome.  What's to feel sorry for?  He lasted a hell of a lot longer than he should have.

QuoteDESEAN JACKSON: HOME TEAM — Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is at the top of his game as one of the most talked about and watched players in the NFL today. That means eyes are always on him— waiting for him to score touchdowns and waiting for him to drop the ball off the field. Even though he has the money and the fame, DeSean's life is actually run by a core group of women including his "momager" Gayle, his sister and assistant A'Dreea, his publicist Denise and his new girlfriend, Kayla. Produced by Rogue Atlas Productions in association with Lionsgate Television. Eli Frankel, Ryan Holcomb, Elise Duran, Desean Jackson and Byron Jackson serve as executive producers. Jay Fragus and Lawrence Bell serve as co-executive producers.

On his weekday radio show with Mark Malone on Tuesday, the six-time Pro Bowler issued a cryptic statement about the incident.

"There was a story that was released, and I want everybody to be cognizant of it, because I am very aware of it, handling the matter at this particular point," McNabb said (via NBC Sports). "But at this point, I have no further information, and as we continue on with the situation, then we'll let it handle as it will handle itself."

Apparently Nate never flashed anything off the field, either.
QuoteOfficials say four southwest Florida police officers have been punished for the wrongful detainment of Oakland Raiders safety Nate Allen, the Associated Press reports.

Fort Myers police Chief Doug Baker said Thursday the arrest was isolated and not deliberate.

Allen, who lives in southwest Florida in the offseason, spent several hours in a holding cell in February after a 16-year-old girl said he performed a lewd act at a traffic light. Allen denied the accusation, saying he was on a cellphone call from the time he left a nearby restaurant until he was stopped. No charges were filed, and Allen was eventually released.

An internal police investigation determined the officers involved violated state or agency policies and were assigned disciplinary actions. The investigation's report ends with an apology from Baker to Allen.
