Tony Romo...OUT this weekend with a vagina, I mean back injury
QuoteAdam Schefter @AdamSchefter 5m
Cowboys QB Tony Romo has been ruled out the rest of the season due to his back injury, per league source.
What
It's official, he's out!!
Great, Kyle Oreton to join the ranks of Joe Webb, Matt Asiata, etc.
You know what? My first thought was "ah man, I want to face Romo because they'll rally around the backup".
Sean Lee is apparently out too.
I'd much rather face Romo than Orton. This is a rallying cry for the Cowboys.
Orton hasn't started in 2 years and lost his job to Tebow. We're farged
600 yards passing for Orton including a 158.3 passer rating, including 100 yards rushing, and initiation and recovery of fumble of an interception he threw just for fun recovered in the end zone.
It comes down to Dallas' defense versus the Eagles O.
Kyle Orton can hang 40 on the Eagles D so long as Saint Nick can keep up and outscore them, they're fine.
Dallas' defense is a goddamn sieve.
I just have a bad feeling that this is set up perfectly for the nut-kick.
Bull farging shtein. They're going to annihilate the Cowboys.
Settle down, girls.
It's ok to be scared Rome.
No. It's okay to be gay, not scared.
And fat.
And drunk.
Scared is for Hoydas. farg that. We got Chip.

I understand it completely. The universe owes me one.
I'm saying it right now... SUPER. BOWL.
Like Geo, I'm with you Rome...but there's suddenly a sinking feeling in my gut. I think we all came down with a case of the 'aw-fargs'.
I have to balance it out with thoughts of Shady busting through the line for 10 touchdowns.
...and we pray! :evil
They went from being a 2.5-pt favorite to a 7.5-pt favorite in less than 3 hours :-D
I just hope we get to see plenty of this:
So, with Romo out are we going to be taken off of SNF? :-D
matt cassel hung 48 on them....kyle orton certainly can do the same....i dont know if dallas will win but i agree with geo this does not set up well for the birds....especially after an eagle blowout win on natty tv...all week now its gonna be how do the cowboys even have a chance....why even play the game...this is never a good thing in a game btwn two teams that are close to equally good
the good thing is they arent playing a quality franchise say like the packers...with a good coach and a good locker room....they are playing a bunch dogs wit a terrible coach and an insane owner who could easily lay down and implode if the eagles get up by a couple scores early
i think the eagles win by 30 or lose by 7
Your positivity is refreshing.

I hate the overconfidence
I remember a game a few years ago when the Phil's were playing the nats in dc. 75% of the crowd was phillies fans. Phil's were up by 1 run and basticho was pitching. He had the batter down 2 strikes with 2 outs in the 9th. The overwhelming amount of Phil's fans in dc were giving basticho a standing o in anticipation of a strike out. Only the batter took basticho deep and the Phil's lost in extra innings.
It's moments like that that pull me back to reality as a fan. I see orton starting as a rallying cry. I have a bad feeling Dallas comes out swinging.
game will be close in the 1st half. after that the eagles will pull away.
I'm with SD.
It's one of those where they take the unconventional approach, start running bubble-screens, reverses, wildcats on us, keep the defense on their heels and never get into a rhythm.
Until game time, I'll be nervous about this game but I know if our offense is rolling, there's really no one outside of the Minnesota Vikings who can destroy the Eagles right now.
I'm overconfident as hell and I don't care...I've been talking shtein all week. I have all these clowns at work riled up.

Just saw this on the news. This is a bad omen.
Phreak, Rome, you're right.
At this point, we're all in...so farg it.
Dallas is going to burn on Sunday and the Eagles are bringing, the lighter fluid, fuel, and tri-tips ready for this BBQ!
Going all out now. farg nervous, farg scared, farg omen, farg Orton. Foles needs to shtein on the mess McNabb left at Dallas years ago.
Normally I'd be 100% negadelph in this circumstance but let's be real for a minute. The Eagles are going to inflict severe rectal tearing on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. It's so farging on. You can feel the freight train coming. I'm not even worried about being wrong on this since the Birds have already annihilated my expectations and we all know they aren't winning the Super Bowl anyway. But please believe the Eagles are getting up in that ass.
Also even though Romo is a confirmed choke artist, he's a legitimate upper tier QB and Kyle Orton is Kyle Orton. Just because the Eagles have shat the bed against backups before doesn't mean the backup actually gives the other team a better chance. Romo is a good QB. My only concern without him there is that we'll miss out on the hilarious Romo choke. Instead of being a close game farged up at the end by that pathetic choker, it'll be a solid W over Orton, or Kitna after Orton gets injured. Vegas moved the line for a reason.
I have no idea how Birds Nation travels but it sure would be beautiful if Jerry Jones Stadium was like it was two weeks ago when the Packers fans outnumbered the phonies. Oh man that was awesome!
once romo went out i got ascared like a 4 year old seeing a ghost
me philly radar is off the charts...im thinking they lose by 30 or win by 30 and there's no inbetween
if you're scared you should grab your crotch area and cough to make sure the boys are still there.
If Romo, or whoever is starting for the Cowboys, continue with what they've done over the past few years, they'll implode. Another way to look at it is that they're due to win one of these last season games and make the playoffs. I want to see the Eagles win this one more than I have in a long time. What better way to get into the tournament than to send the Cowboys home with another late season loss.
Romo had back surgery this morning. Done.
oddly enough this will actually help his, umm, legacy.
I said it in the Farg Dallas thread but again, run Shady down our throats and you've got this. The Dallas D will not hold up if you pound it at them all night. We get next to no pressure on the QB so while the temptation is there to air it out, the Dallas offense can probably score even with Orton at the helm so be patient and keep them off the field with the run game.
Sadly(For me), Romo being out along with attrition on the defense gives Jerrah the perfect excuse to maintain the status quo. That's good for Eagles fans though.
Good Point EJ. I've heard several talking heads say this is Jerry's way out of canning Garrett. They lose, he blames it on not having Romo. They win and Garrett is a genius.
doesnt jerry own the team?
his way out from who?
You don't think Jerry is under pressure to make a change? They've been mediocre at best of late. If they loose he'll be asked repeatedly about his decision to stick with Garrett. Where ever pressure comes from, the press, fan base, etc., it will be there. Big part of his problem is who is he going to get? Who's out there? Who would want to work for this egomaniac? This way he sticks with Garrett one more year, lose this game he blames it on not having Romo and if they win he declares Garrett is greater than Tom Landry.

i dont think anyone short of god could pressure jerry jones...in fact i think jerry jones thinks hes god and would almost do the exact opposite of what anyone else said
pressure and jerry jones have never lived in the same galaxy with each other
If Dallas fans stop going to games, those seats will be purchased by opposing teams fans. Jerrah gonna get his money either way. Packer fans filled up half of that stadium and Jerrah didn't lose a dime. And the Cowboys are a "brand" with South Jerz type fans living in Iowa, Montana, Oklahoma, etc who are still going to buy merchandise simply because it's the Cowboys.
Hate to say it, but that team could go 2-14 for the next 5 years and they'd still turn a profit.
dallas hasnt been relevant for 15 years....i find it hard to believe that jj would all of a sudden feel pressure
people like him and lil danni dont feel pressure because they dont care about anyone but themselves
at least jj doest panic like danni...he is a terrible gm but the one thing he does is trust people and give them a legit chance
if he would hire a gm and secede power to him i think hed be a great owner but that will never happen

Financial pressure. I'm sure he feels the many millions of dollars difference between being perennial losers and if they were to, god forbid, win the SB with its ensuing bandwagon insanity.
the difference btwn playing for a division and winning a superbowl for a jj and a dallas is pennies.....hes in this for the fame not the dollars
now if you are a jeffy lurie then the few extra bucks might mean something....but even then its not significant to an owner
It's not pennies, it's millions, especially when you are talking over years. An owner's biggest revenue comes from TV, and Jerruh gets the same amount there as the owners of the Browns and Jags. His financial outlay is stratospheric so his margins aren't nearly as large as most people probably assume. He needs to capitalize on merchandizing, licensing fees etc. that will correlate to how much the team sucks or succeeds. Yes, he won't go broke but regardless of his profit he will feel pressure knowing he is making millions less with a team of choke artists. It's naive to think he is somehow immune to income fluctuations regardless of how his team performs over the years.

Absolutely. A dear friend of mine, who is a true Cowboys fan from Texas, has lived in Hawaii for 30+ years and still has that damn drawl, said to me the other day "until Jerry Jones dies this franchise is doomed".
Hard to believe its been almost 18 years since he's won a Super Bowl.

its pennies when you are a billionaire....trust me jerry jones is not sitting at home thing about the few million dollars hes lost by not making the playoffs and because of that he has to fire his coach
We'll just disagree then. A buffoon doesn't get to be a billionaire by not caring about not having $20 million here and $20 million there. They are all greedy farging bastiches.
Rog, who is making 29.5 million this year, is asking for volunteers from NY to help visitors with the SB. NFL will make $10 billion this year. But the volunteers will get to keep their volunteer uniforms. yay them. They could instead just hire a professional staff for a few hundred thousand, or what they'd make with one commercial, But no, let's sucker fans into volunteering instead.
he wouldnt have kept romo for 8 years and garrett for five
shtein he wouldnt have hired garrett to begin with if he cared about playoff money
or for that matter wade phillips
i dont think lil danni even cares about playoff money (billionaires dont) he just wants to win....but if you want to make that argument then point to how hes run his franchise.....jerry has done the opposite of caring about money
He doesn't care about money. That's why he built a 100,000 seat stadium.

Jerry is a control freak. He hires yes men who'll acquiesce to whatever crazy roster moves he makes.

Dang guys, the closest Jones came to ceding control was hiring Parcells and even he burned out after a few years. He is dead set on proving that he is the driving force to this team's success and he won't stop until he proves it. The ghost of Jimmy Johnson has been haunting him for 18 years and it won't stop until he wins a SB again, which won't happen any time soon. He's a blind man with a Colt 45 during the draft, hits now and then but misses miserably more often than not. He overpays players after one good season. He signs mostly mediocre free agents to save a buck to compensate for his overpriced re-signings. He's a good owner but a crappy GM who wants to prove that he's a good GM and as long as the team is *somewhat* competitive ad he can say we're a player or coach away, that won't change.
I get so sick of hearing Jones' "vote of confidence" that there's a side of me that hopes you just kick our ass up and down the field. I wish he would disappear and just whip out his checkbook now and then like most owners do. Posted this on a Cowboys board when Jerryworld was still being built:

dallas still sucks
3 coverage breakdowns so far. Two on Murray one there. Literally no one in the screen. No clue what's going on. You know Orton is going to dink and dunk and three passes in the flat have no one in the screen. Don't get it.
Chip better be aggressive...down the field, Chipper...THEY CANNOT COVER

still not sure if I'd rather see Eagles up by 2 so dallas can win with a fg, or dallas up by 2 so Eagles don't play down. they really need first downs

Congrats, CF. Better game than I thought it would be and turnovers were the difference in the beginning and in the end. I had to double check to make sure the guy that threw the last INT wasn't wearing #9. :boom I think Jimmy either left a curse on this team or Jerrah signed a deal with the devil to get those three Lombardi trophies. All in the past now.
Shocked that we got to Foles five times but in the end we had no answer for McCoy, which I pretty much figured would be the case. Notice how we basically abandoned the run and went pass happy again. ::)
Eh, the Saints would have destroyed us anyway. They've pretty much had our number for awhile now and already ripped us a new one earlier this season.
Good luck in the playoffs, maybe you can bring one back to Philly this year as parity seems to be in full swing outside of a few teams. Any given Sunday. Also, congrats to McCoy on the rushing crown and the franchise records as well. He's a good one.
I can honestly say the Cowboys showed up much more than I thought they would...especially on defense with the pressure they got on Foles with that rag tag DL.
I was nervous from start to finish. And still winding down.

I thought it was over after you went up by eight with six minutes left and I'm as surprised as you are that the defense made an appearance. When we got that last stop I thought we had a shot until Orton kicked me in the crotch on the first play of our last drive. That's the way it goes though. You got turnovers, capitalized on them and most of the time the teams that do win the game.

Yeah, I was stunned by the pressure they got on Foles. It wasn't all on Orton though, they abandoned the run, got predictable on offense again and went pass happy. I know you guys know how that is.
As soon as Orton let go of that last pass I yelled "Oh GAWD" because I just had this instant image of a game killing pick again.(Our dog woke up, cocked his head and look at me like I was an alien).
Orton played pretty well but he threw behind receivers more than once(Two ended up as INTs) and missed open guys as well. Have to give credit where it's due, the cowboys manned up last night defensively. Heck of a game, but there has to be some curse on Dallas to lose that way over and over.
Not really. They've been an 8-8 franchise for the last 3 years and I believe are basically a .500 franchise since their last SB. They're the poster child for mediocrity and mediocre doesn't win big games.
You fargin' hear that, Andy? Mediocre doesn't win big games.
SeaBiscuit, I was basically stunned by how much pressure we got on Foles.
Sgt PSN, you would be correct. We're basically a .500 team since our last Super Bowl win. Wade actually has had the best record of any coach in that time, was the only one to manage a playoff win and two seasons with double digit wins.
Switzer's last two seasons: .500, double digit wins once.
Gailey: .563, double digit wins once.
Campo ::) : .313
Parcells: .531, double digit wins once.
Phillips: .607, double digit wins twice, lone playoff win.
Garrett: .518
5/18 seasons with double digit wins.
8/18 seasons above .500
10/18 seasons at .500 or below, including four straight now.
2-7 in the playoffs in that time.
Jerrah doesn't mind mediocrity as long as it puts butts in the seats. Oh well.
