Title: Podcast or die.
Post by: Diomedes on November 01, 2013, 06:46:34 AM
I've been painting a lot lately.  Tedious work, and lonely.  When I'm alone, I tend towards the darkness.  I'm just not very good company. Normally to distract myself I listen to NPR or some music, but that hasn't been cutting it lately, so I got a podcast thing on my thing and listened to the first three (of six) shows this guy Dan Carlin who makes a show called Hardcore History did on the fall of Rome.  The day pretty much flew by and I wasn't suicidal at quitting time.  (After an hour driving home, I was homicidal, but that's another matter.)

I can't recall all the names and dates of consuls, wars, etc. as well as if I had read a book, but I definitely learned a lot and I enjoyed it.  Today, I'll review / refresh a bit by jumping around the ones I listened to yesterday, and then get back on the horse with the last three episodes.

My question to you fargtards:  Can you suggest any good podcasts?  You know my interests, so don't tell me about the one Dave Spadaro puts out.  I hate football.

Jay Mohr has a podcast Mohr Stories that is pretty good.

Neil Degrasse Tyson has a one called Star Talk, he's great to listen to for shtein about space

Greg Proops has a podcast called The Smartest Man in the World that has great reviews.  i have a few downloaded but haven't listened yet.

Comedy Bang Bang. I've listened to every one for almost 4 years now except for a few recent ones on backlog on my phone. Scott Aukerman has 2-4 different comedians on every week, sometimes it's just interviews, sometimes they play characters, they play games, etc. Used to be just once a week but now it's twice a week. May take a little time to get the recurring characters but it's usually really funny.

I went to a live taping of that Greg Proops podcast a few months ago and it was hit or miss. the comedy parts were actually pretty good but I don't care about his political leanings. He is a fanatic liberal though, which is ok.
