Title: Cary Williams, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: Dillen on March 14, 2013, 04:13:00 PM
Really like this one. Him and Fletcher are good signings. 6'1 so along with everything else, it looks like the Chip loving size thing is for real. 3 years 17M

I need a picture to believe he exists. Also, who is his father, and what does he do?

I like this pick-up then. Some fire under that guy. Even if it is directed at refs, its more than I can say about anyone on the team since Dawk.

I also dont like this - the guy got paid because he was all over the ball in the playoffs. Larry Brown, anyone?
Title: Re: Cary Williams, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: hbionic on March 14, 2013, 04:47:57 PM
Larry Brown was Superbowl only from shteinhead Steelers QB.

This dude went up against rookie bad-ass Luck, Manning, Brady, and Kaepernick.

Not too shabby. I'll say he doesn't or won't easily get phased from now on.

QuoteWilliams agreed to a three-year, $17 million contract that includes $10.5 million in guaranteed money in the first two years of the deal, according to his agent, Harold Lewis.

Williams, who had 75 tackles, four interceptions and 17 pass deflections last season for the Ravens, can earn another $2 million in incentives.

Williams landed with the Eagles in a market flooded with good cornerbacks one year after declining the Ravens' three-year, $15 million contract offer.

"We're excited," Lewis told The Baltimore Sun. "Cary is leaving one great team and is excited to join another great team. The Eagles are a great organization. It's a perfect fit."

seen a lot of this cat....hes long which allows him to get to a lot of balls but isnt a huge playmaker....but hes also really lean and struggles at any kind of press coverage

i think a good comparison would be to bobby taylor as far as his overall skills (but smaller)

If he's an NFL caliber defender of any stripe, welcome aboard. There's still a lot of underbrush on this D that needs to be cleared out. Step 1 in the rebuild is to get a roster full of players who actually belong in the league.

Loving the focus on quantity so far. Important to eliminate the liabilities that every semi-competent team exploits. They don't need All-Pros, they need a foundation first. Where they do need some bigtime players is the draft.

on 97.5 with Mikey Miss earlier today (http://www.975thefanatic.com/teams/eagles/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10517593)

About a minute into the interview, he tells Mikey Miss "hold up, I gotta take this...it's the Eagles" and hangs up, and this clip starts about 30 seconds later when he calls back

Williams was asked at the PC who he models his game after, and he said Nnamdi.  I guess someone snickered cause he followed up with "Take it as a joke, I don't care.  I'm here to win."

If he had not just been a off season signing then fine.  Its a respect thing i guess.  Some people get it, some dont.  Ultimately MDS is right, if he shows up and can actually play, then who gives a shtein.

Agreed 100%. If people want them to be mandatory, make them mandatory. Maybe the coaches want players to be there, but I'm not their coach. As a fan I don't give a farg about anything these guys choose to do in June unless it lands them dead, in jail, or suspended.

I like that he has balls. Just wish he wasn't so afraid to get beat deep because he gives receivers too much of a cushion. His bad attitude is needed on this d.

No, there isn't.  If he's saying it to a teammate or someone else in the locker room.  Shooting his farging mouth off to a reporter is idiotic.  How many times do players have to post bulletin-board material before they realize it doesn't nothing but incite the other team?   Just shut up, already.
Title: Re: Cary Williams, Philadelphia Eagle

Gotta think (and hope) they'll let Boykin run on the outside now. Or maybe they believe Carroll will be on one side and TBD on the other with Boykin in the slot.

I wouldn't stand on a mountaintop and scream a defense of Cary but replacing three out of four secondary players is tough. And Cary wasn't awful.
Title: Re: Cary Williams, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: ice grillin you on March 03, 2015, 02:00:31 PM
i wouldnt classify it as easy but safety positions are not difficult to at minimum adequetly fill (altho the eagles are trying their hardest to disprove this theroum)

however you can easily go 5 years without a acquiring a single good+ corner....filling two corner spots at that level in one year is virtually impossible

You can't build a championship team based on fear. If the fear is you can't get rid of Cary Williams because he's the best of the worst, it's a loser philosophy. farg that toast. Last season was as bad as I've seen the Eagles in terms of their corner situation in recent memory. It's only up from here.

I don't care what year was worse. They all sucked. You couldn't count on Williams or Fletcher, ever. And the bigger the spot, the more apt they were to get burned. Consistently inconsistent. Too inconsistent to even work around. Now, will they be better this year? Can't say. Will they be appreciably worse? No. If they could find a way to be appreciably worse, even that would be morbidly entertaining.
