(The return of the kelly green will have to wait a while though)
that ship sailed about ten years ago.....now it would just be another classic flyer move getting a goalie whos to old and past his prime
it would be taking it to a new level though to buy out one awful contract to take another. that would be new even for the flyers
no chance of happening btw
so am i correct in assuming they're not just starting the schedule up where it would normally be but putting together an entirely new one?
you are correct sir.
rumor has the flyers playing the penguins on 1/19 to start the season
home and home is what i heard....that would be pretty cool
i heard that too until today when i heard that they are going to buffalo for the sabres home opener.
Pittsburgh here Saturday on NBC, then at Buffalo next Sunday. This (http://mobilwi.typepad.com/.a/6a0120a6dde087970b017d3fcae203970c-800wi) is apparently the schedule

where is jean marc pelletier
Boucher probably plays in Glens Falls.
The trade also is intriguing. The Flyers trade an undrafted, apparently malcontent defenseman for Boucher and a 2nd round defensive prospect.
the phantoms have the potential to be an all time bad team
they were horrendous before the lockout ended and now they lose schenn cooter rinaldo et cetera with no one to replace them
Geo I wax just reading up on Alt and I'm confused why they would throw him in. He has limited offense but he's raw, young, has size, and great tools.
Boucher's response to being a Flyer for the fourth time: "It's a bit embarrassing, to be honest with ya"
Holmgren says he'll be with the Phantoms the rest of the season and it was mostly a family/comfort thing
I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that after the NHL squatted and took a shtein on the fans for 119 days that so many people went to Flyers practice yesterday that the Fire Marshall had to shut down access.
The Avalanche had record turnouts too
Sunny... I agree with the general point you were making, but people are desperate for anything now, especially in Philly where the Eagles and Phillies haven't played since October, the Sixers are awful and there isn't really any noteworthy college teams playing.
Personally I'm excited they're going to be playing this weekend. Got tickets for them in Tampa on 3/18 over the weekend too. Phils ST in Orlando against the Braves then Flyers in Tampa the same day = win.
Hartnell took Sheena Parveen out for drinks :yay

The cheapest seats on the lower level are $160? What the hell
carchidi on twitter "Firestorm of controversy over #Flyers' tix prices. Shawn Tilger, #Flyers exec, will try to clear it up with media in a bit."
there had to have been a software problem or something because the tickets i used to have ($35 face) were $83 according to comcasttix.com today
i know, it's outrageous.
I had a coworker trying to get 85 bucks a piece for uppers yesterday. We were all ripping her for trying to rob her coworkers blind. Ends up it was Crazy Ed trying to make a few extra bucks to fund his next divorce.
G is #3 on TSN's list of top 50 players, behind Crosby/Malkin and ahead of Stamkos/Datsyuk. Richards is #44. Can't mock
JVR is hurt already... MOCK
according to the flyers, prices only went up $2
a season ticket that was $37 last year is $39 this year. that same ticket for a single game was $83 last year and $85 this year. a $46 per game discount for season tickets? that is farged up
and only 400 tickets are available for the free practice at WFC on Thursday. jesus
wait so they just had a lockout that doubled as a four month farg you to the fans and now they are increasing ticket prices?
seriously. and you sheep will pay for them wont you.
So Giroux got the C yesterday. Shocker.
has anything in sports history been more overrated than nhl captaincy
brian bozworth
nothings worse than listening to a puckhead talk about how nhl captains are different from captains in other sports because the nhl game and players are special in ways that football baseball and basketball arent
their go to on that is Messier in '94
in their mind that is every captain on every team
which is ironic because messier also debunks everything they believe in
he was an all time great leader but it had nothing to do with a stupid letter on his jersey...ask any of the players and they will tell you he was the leader of those oiler teams even when gretzky had the c
the C is overrated in all sports. It's about the guy who takes the lead, and the heat when the team is playing like shtein.
its not overrated in any sport but hockey because in the other sports its not rated at all...only hockey is so full of themselves to call news conferences and shtein when a captain is announced
i dont even know who the captain of the sixers is
i dont even think most teams have captains in baseball and football has them but again i dont know who any of them are
Whoever goes out for the coin flip in football is usually the (co-) captain I think. Pretty sure baseball doesn't actually have one and I have no idea about basketball. If they do, no one (including the players) cares.
baseball has them....jeter is known as the "captain"
and i remember seeing an actual C on variteks jersey at one time
but i dont think every team does
That could be it.....some teams do, some don't. It's def not a league wide thing like the NHL and NFL as far as I know though. I always figured it was more of a nickname for Jeter rather than an actual title.
hes their actual captain and its a nickname
it no coincidence that two pompous franchises like the sox and yanks are two of the few teams (maybe the only two?) that have/had captains

So Wade Redden was bought out by the Rangers. Apparently he wants to play with Mezaros again(and against Fonzie), and is expected to sign for a small contract.

revenge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPBH4_sEscQ)
"the Flyers have their sights set on revenge for last season's playoff loss"
hmm
They ass raped the Penguins so bad last year that they themselves actually felt violated. So they need revenge, obviously.
Finding it hard to get excited for the season. I wore Flyers crap all week and kept hearing the "excited for hockey?" question and I'd just shrug. 95% of it has to do with Bryz still being in net, 3% the lockout, 2% miscellaneous.
I hate hearing the players talk about how great Bryz looks, like you can make that determination after 1 week. Any doubt he gives up a softy within the first 10 minutes of the game tomorrow?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9s9g4BA2BUQ
i didnt think i would be nor did i want to care about hockey but i cant help it....as it gets closer i am amped and all IN....probably helps they open at home against pittsburgh
flyers get national tv today and tomorrow....caps have to open up at tampa....lol
did ovechkin and kovalchuk end up coming back?
i know visnevsky from the islanders didn't come back and they had to put him on a suspended list
yeah they are both back
flyers led the league in guys who played during the lockout with 11
hopefully that gives them a small advantage to get off to a good start....of course having better legs wont prevent breezy from giving up six goals a game
it's definitely the homer in me but i think he bounces back to be good this year.
he started off bad in russia but his play picked up in the weeks before the lockout ended.
i'm more concerned about the actual dmen. mezaros off of the achilles, i'm not thrilled iwth luke schenn and kimmo is old as dirt. how his going to hold up playing basically every other night between now and may?
I am off the charts excited about the season (finally) opening.

Also can anyone explain to me why Read wasn't traded in the offseason? Hs value will never be as high as it was after last season and he is just not good.
My question is Ed Snider is one of if not the most powerful and influential owners in the league - so how in the farg did he not get something in the CBA that allowed them to get rid of this piece of shtein?

Technically they can buyout the player now, with the amnesty taking effect with next season. The cap hit would still have effect this season. They've done that with Redden and Gomez.

I really like Laviolette, but he is one that may get tuned out by the players. Also, some of the comments Snider made during the offseason (particularly about playing a more defensive-friendly system) made me think that Laviolette may be on the hot seat. If the team really shteins the bed, it seems to be a sure bet that he will be gone.
Most likely to replace him, at least in the short term, may be Terry Murray. Not my ideal choice.

gonna be interesting to see how much they miss jagr this year on the PP....he had a ton of possession time last year and the flyers arent a team loaded with skill players so there no real replacement for him in that role
1-16 on the pp so far
Both their power play and their penalty kill have been god awful. Oh also the rest of their play has been terrible too. So that's nice.
JVR has two goals tonight...mock!
In case people still haven't heard, Hartnell is out indefinitely with a foot injury and B. Schenn was suspended a game.
In other news, the team sucks dick.
They need to suck dick. They need to shed Bryz/Briere/Hartnell/Timmonen and any other lingering dinosaur and rebuild. Tank this year and add a stud in the draft. Get rid of Holmgren, he costs them millions in bad contracts yet they retain him. This makes no sense whatsover.
"Its only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything"
Hartnell's out 4-8 weeks with a broken foot. Good idea giving him an extension.
Flyers traded for Knuble
Season is saved
they look great so far tonight....they just dont have anyone who can finish
Lundvquist owns them
he owns pretty much everyone...but you dont have to be good to stop this lineup
their #1 pp unit is giroux simmonds and cooter
jody shelly AND tom sesito are playing
lolol @ trading for knuble.
i thought i was hearing things a second ago (was in the kitchen). my daughter said, dad, why are you laughing? oh, no reason, honey...
they didnt even trade for him....he was a FA cause no one wanted him
I'm sure there was a huge bidding war
Whatever...just throw him out there to stand in front of the net on the power play
flyers gotta be close to two games worth of time without scoring
black (and orange)
I thought Knuble was playing for another team's minor league affiliate.
They didn't have to give up anything for him then? Really, I'm asking.
he was playing for detroits ahl team but to stay in shape and hope to catch on just like he did....however he wasnt owned by them (or anyone)
Glad they went to commercial so we could miss the fight of the year

so how bout them flyers eh?
They're outplaying Florida but ill give credit where it's duels Bryzaster is playing lights out
thats not a good thing and we both know why
finish thad
oooops
this game is retarded
My buddy Jeff is at the game (from Buffalo but has season tickets to the Panthers - go figure). I busted his chops just a little bit tonight.
Snort.
Just got back from the game. Lots of Panthers fans masquerading as empty seats.
Bryzgalov was stellar tonight. Fun to see Read get the hat trick. Not too many hats on the ice - a dozen or so. One of the Panthers players tried to slapshot one of the hats. He was pissy.
With about 1:48 left in the 2nd my son (he's 9) says loudly, "Maybe Bryzgalov will get a shutout!" Not one minute of game time later, the Panthers score on the breakaway. Called my son a jinx the rest of the game.
To be fair Breezy ain't getting a shutout unless the Flyers are playing the Special Olympics all-stars.
Then again...
He did make some ridiculous saves last night. Gotta give the retard some props for that.
He gets the shutout if that break away doesn't happen. I don't fault any goalie for giving up a goal on a break away. To his credit he played well vs. the Rangers too. He's playing better positional goaltending meaning he's doing little things like squaring up to the shooter and not taking himself out of the play. The D these last 2 games has been solid too.

nice penalty negroid
leights is back
they scored that first goal then thought they could go in cruise control.
an actual shot on goal would be nice....that whole period was gross
So who are the top prospects in the upcoming draft?
Their power play is an embarrassment
Bryz was the only reason this wasn't another 5-1 loss.
He really has been pretty damn good so far. I think I've counted two soft goals so far in 7 games.
They've got the most losses in the NHL. Yay!

i had to laugh last night when jj was talking about how the coaching staff has been thrilled with luke schenns play thus far...which is fine he has played well....but then that loser coatsy chimes in "well hes finally getting to play with some good players"
only a flyer announcer could take an unprovoked shot at another team or its players while the flyers are one of the worst teams in the nhl and dont exactly have a ton of talent
if the flyers are as bad as i think they are and get a really high pick im def going to newark for the draft
QuoteThis is a draft that has been anticipated by scouts for a couple of years, led by talented center Nate MacKinnon and American defenseman Seth Jones. But once scouts get an opportunity to truly examine a draft class, the enthusiasm typically dissipates with focus turning toward the next great class. So I checked with a couple of respected scouts to see if this draft still has them excited.
In short, the answer is yes.
"I would say there are maybe six guys that could change the fortunes of a team," said one team's head of amateur scouting.
How does that compare with last year?
"If you looked at last year's, the thing was -- was there one? It's not that it wasn't a good draft but when you start looking at players that can actually alter the landscape or really have a significant impact on a daily basis, that's what everyone is waiting to see," he said.
Another scout was kinder to last year's draft, saying there were two or three players who potentially could be considered franchise players. When I presented him with the suggestion that there were six players in this year's draft that may alter the landscape of a franchise, he agreed.
"Yeah, and I think you even go as high as 10 being impact players," he said. "It'll be interesting to see. We could have the most first-round picks next year playing in the NHL [immediately after the draft] in recent memory."
This year's draft in New Jersey will be the first under the new CBA. In the previous system, only the five worst teams had a chance at the No. 1 overall pick, with the remaining teams moving up a maximum of four spots if they won the lottery. That limitation is gone now.
According to an NHL source, the league and the NHLPA still haven't finalized exactly how the weighted lottery will look. According to the source, if the two sides don't agree to a change, the percentages will be the same as under the previous CBA with the difference being that any team can earn the No. 1 pick. Using those percentages, the team that finishes with the worst record has a 25 percent chance of picking first. The No. 14 team is 0.5 percent. If the season ended Tuesday morning the Capitals would have an 18.8 percent chance of picking first and the Flyers a 10.7 percent chance. Putting Seth Jones on the Flyers and MacKinnon on the Capitals could significantly shift the balance of power in the Eastern Conference.

TANK!
A blatant elbow to the face doesn't even rank a minor penalty? farging rediculous.
Racist crime on Simmonds.
No penalty.
Timmonen gets 2 for a Caps player doing a swan dive over his skate. A Greg Louganis 10.0.
Then Erskine completely throws his elbow out at Simmond's face. With the puck there. And the refs stand their with their dicks in their hands.
Then they give game misconducts to Rinaldo and the Caps player for fighting "before the puck was dropped" when the puck had been dropped.
The refs in this league is beyond pathetic. Worst officiating in professional sports.
Rinaldo whooped that ass though.
Simmonds still out. That nose has to be busted.
It's amazing how bad this team is and how good Bryz has been. Polar opposite of last season.

I'd never fault a goalie for giving up a goal on a breakaway...that's 100% on the defense. I missed the beginning of the first but didn't he make a save on an Ovechin breakaway?
There's the 3rd soft goal this season.
This one probably didn't cost them the game though.

hideous farging win
is there anything more guaranteed than this team making the playoffs ruining their chance at a franchise player and then losing in the first round
I'm really confused as to how Rinaldo is being made out to be the bad guy in that fight? Vinny Lecav threw two as Talbot is on the ice on his back, but Rinaldo is in trouble because he knocked Crombeen out?
http://i.imgur.com/hYvp7ws.jpg
rinaldo's guy was on a knee and he threw 2 more punches.
lecavlier's was worse, sure...but rinaldo's was bad
rinaldos man was also hurt....its one thing to keep throwing on a guy...its another to try and punish a guy who is already half knocked out
Would you like hockey fights banned too? Rinaldo is a borderline psychopath but even he asked the refs if it was late. Refs said it was fine. Looking at the fight, I saw a guy who had 30-40 lbs on Rinaldo start falling and Rinaldo stopped connecting once he was on the ice.
Quote from: Seabiscuit36 on February 06, 2013, 03:47:57 PM

of course you did
and i dont really care about either of the fights....i think its a ridiculous code as it is...was never like that back in the day
i just think its funny that flyer fans are posting frame by frame gifs to try and defend their guy over a stupid fight
Saw that link earlier today. Figured it gave context to the right rather than the same old 'flyers are evil' shtein I've seen on SI etc. Hell watching a guy giving up that big a difference in height and weight is probably the highlight of the year for them. Offense is terrible
i also am not agreeing with the notion that you shouldnt hit a guy thats hurt....christ you allow fighting in the sport...im only saying what makes rinaldos seem or look worse to people is that his guy got hurt and he looked really hurt when it first happened...if crombeen jumps right up and skates to the penalty box there isnt even a conversation about any of this

Giroux has been horrendus
i never bought in on it....but hopefully the notion of him as a superstar will go away now

He's wilting under the pressure of wearing the C. Happened to Richards. They should have made Kimmo the Captain. I know it's not supposed to mean much but it's a hindrance to some young players.
i dont buy that at all.....but if its true and you play worse because a letter was stitched onto your jersey then you are a complete bitch and im trading said player immediately

They float way too much. It's like watching the Eagles on D, there's no continuity and skating to the puck is jagged and awkward. Lavy's system is as anti-floating as it gets. HE's the one who needs to be getting in peoples ass. Giroux is not a good leader. Remember when Pronger had to get in his ass a few years ago? It's not like he's suddenly changed because his skills have improved. I know they made a valiant effort but Shea Weber is exactly what this team needs to compete.

jake and the black man continue to roll
Bryz is horrible.
Grossmann is out. Lower body blah blah blah.

Did he even move?
nope
i mean its nash from a decent spot...but breezy doesnt even compete on the shot...a good goalie makes a save in that spot
then for the second time this game he fails to make a poke check that should have prevented a goal
really good night on the nhl scoreboad for the flyers draft positioning with several teams behind the getting pts
hartnell is such a clown...if it wasnt for breezy being so god awful his ass should get amnestied
Flyers tore into the Penguins in that first period. Of course, these games have a strange way of evening up...
Like I said...
I thought this thread would be on fire after tonights debacle. It's true, no one gives a shtein.
Just watched the replay. Oh my God, Bryzgalov is just awful. As long as that jerk off is in net this franchise ain't going anywhere. Yes there are other issues but the sooner that kook is out of here the better.
i suspect the flyers have a bit to much talent to end up getting mackinnon or jones but they are right in the mix as of now and its worth noting that a lot of teams around them came away with pts last night - jets, isle, sabres, blue jackets, caps
as long as breezy is their goalie they have a shot
still four pts out of last
Inexcusable but predictable.
No heart, no goaltending = Flyers 12/13.
flyers streak is safe
Pour one out?
flyers gettin raped
It's too bad they aren't bad enough to get anyone worth tanking for.
on paper they arent but dont give up hope yet...they are only three pts out of last place....and remember theres a lottery they techinically dont have to finish last....
breezy is the only flyer that realizes they shouldnt be winning and is trying his best to lose this game
It's bike week here in Daytona so all the bars are packed anyway but I watched the game tonight with nine Buffalo fans and had an absolute blast with them.
If you ever take a second and reflect on just how bitter and cynical you are as a Philly fan, I legitimately suggest you hang out with fans who are WAY worse off than you (team-wise).
I mean, these guys and gals were pissed but they still had a great farging attitude and had a shteinting ass blast tonight despite their team being hideous.
Yeah Sabre fans are usually pretty easy to get along with.
Don't fool yourself into thinking they necessarily have it really hard though. A lot of them are Yankee fans.
sabre fans will always seen more cynical than flyer fans because flyers fans are the one philly fanbase that isnt cynical at all and really believe they are going to win the cup almost every year plus have an incredibly long leash when it comes to the teams management and players
lol @ flyers fans not being cynical.
jesus christ, man.
i dont know that they are quite as extreme but they are really close to being hockeys version of taterskin fans

We may NEVER see another championship parade in any sport in our lifetimes.

It'll never happen and he's my all time most hated hockey player but how awesome would it be to have Scott Stevens as the next Flyers coach?
The Flyers won... a shootout? :o
Still hate the farging shootout.
i still hate flyer wins
except monday when im in tampa...they can win that one
had quite the adventure yesterday......my man got us tickets in the lightning owners suite....we promptly were asked to leave because we all were rockin flyers gear....actually they first told us we could stay but we have to put on lightning t shirts that they were gonna give us....we politely told them to farg off....so they moved us to a commons mans suite where it still was all you could drink and eat...im easily still drunk
oh and breezy fargING SUCKS
I wore a Flyers shirt in one of their corporate boxes and nobody noticed, but if you're in the suite with the owners (dunno if they were actually there or not), you gotta respek
Jack Edwards may literally masturbate himself to death jerking off to today's game. It's going to be ugly.
If he actually does, that means that there was at least some positive benefit to this season's fiasco.

no its really not....if they were trying to win for home ice advantage in the playoffs or the overall number one seed it wouldnt be ridiculous to get upset at a loss
its def not ridiculous to get mad at a win that could cost them jones or mackinnon
If you're thinking rationally its absurd to he upset about a win or a loss regardless of circumstances. In other words I retract my statement.
i dont think anything im saying is remotely irrational.....in fact it makes me mad that you are not angry at todays win
igy's gonna be in anger management soon...a lotta saltiness lately!
its not even that...you dont care about the flyers...but imagine this is last year with luck and rgIII and the eagles needed to lose to get one of them...you telling me you wouldnt be furious if they won a meaningless week 16 game
I understand...I'd probably be pissed
I understand too. And I want them to lose. But I don't want players who are willing to intentionally tank games even if its the best thing for the franchise in the long run. It's a complicated spot to be in as a fan. But I can't be mad at the players for playing. Also it was the Bruins. And farg them.

this is the exact attitude that has kept the flyers from winning the last 100 years....why do you give a flying farg how much effort the scrubs on this team put out now....the long run is all that matters right now
you think the penguins cared about the scrubs on their team that were tanking games....95% of them werent even on the team when they won cups
this goes for almost any sport....get the farging superstar....everything else will work itself out
unless you are the flyers and eric lindros
I am of the opinion that they have talent they should keep and can win with as long as they get a legit superstar to go with them. But whatever. I get your point. I just don't think they are that bad right now talent wise.
their defense is a travesty...they got some really nice mostly 3rd line pieces on offense...but nothing that gives you any hope for the future....they need legit players to push all the garbage they have now down a couple lines....and a great start at doing that would be to get a stud or two
This miserable aborted season can't end soon enough.
Just embarrassing.
For some reason I'm not able to get the game tonight - been cussing at NHL.com about it.
It may actually be for the best I don't.

Talbot is out for the season with a broken leg
for some unknown reason the flyers just traded for clowe
harry z to anaheim
for Jay Rosehill. Cool, another goon
Homer called Buffalo about Vanek. They want a young forward that is already in the NHL (i.e. Couturier), another prospect and a 1st-rd pick for him. If he could stay healthy, I'd consider it, but they can't give up a top 10 (5?) pick for him
lose out.....draft jones...amnesty breezy
anything less than that is unacceptable
Not gonna happen, can't happen, agree.
ive spent my morning watching every fight jay rosehill he has ever gotten in...let me tell you if this cat gets real playing time flyer fans are going to love him...i cant recall the last time ive seen someone where every fight they get in just about is action filled long and wildly entertaining....kid does not believe in holding on and has an unbelievable chin that he will stick out there at will...he throws and he throws wildly...and he doesnt seem to concerened with not allowing his opponent to do the same....hes def not a defensive fighter...he can also go really well with either hand which you dont see often...and because he switches hands so often many of his fights end up being off balance craziness
the bad part is he is so wild that most of his punches miss...they also miss because he has what appear to be really short arms...that the only reason i can come up with as to why so many of his shots never reach their intended target....he also doesnt seem to have any punching power...
anyway here are some of his battles

flyers acquired steve mason.....hopefully he battles for the starting goalie position next year that is opened up by breezys release
Leighton and a 3rd to Columbus
Maybe a change of scenery will help Mason but he hasn't done anything since winning the Calder
Since his rookie year Mason has been poop, but I like this as a low risk move. They give up basically nothing and get an experienced kid with (maybe) some talent for when Bryz is gone. If nothing else, he's a much better backup than Boucher or Leighton.
how mason does is irrelevant.....this means breezy is gone!!!!
Not to state the obvious or anything, but they still need someone to stand in the crease and stop shots. Getting rid of Bryz is great, but only accomplishes anything if they actually improve their goaltending in the process. (Cap considerations not withstanding.)

they are going to have a zesty goalie no matter what...clearly they need to find a long term solution there (again) but short term the only thing that matters is getting rid of breezys contract...now they will have a zesty goalie who is a free agent instead of a zesty goalie signed thru year infinity
its a huge accomplishment to get rid of that deal...the minute the amnesty clause was announced it became a dream scenario for the team
Flyers finally get the lead then lose it in 20 seconds.
JUST END THIS.
These scrubs are going to farg around and make the playoffs. It's going to be great getting beat by the Pens in the first round on their way to the Cup.
Flyers trying to hold on for a fourth straight win. On their heels, though...
Luke Schenn out after getting hit in the face/head with the puck. Up 1-0, but Winnipeg controlling the pace in the 2nd period.
and CLITSOME ties it up. Great name.
And just like that it's 2-1. The Flyers aren't in the same arena right now.
I've seen less than one period from Mason and I already know he's better than Bryz
Yeah, that 1-0 up went to 3-1 down in the blink of an eye.
Mason got a 1 year extension. Hopefully he's the starter next season.
as long as breezy is playing in siberia next season i dont care who starts
Mason gets the start tonight...hopefully a sign of things to come
Clutch loss
Best loss of the season, Buffalo only had one more point than the Flyers. Now they have 3. Flyers are probably looking at pick #5.

I'm sure they'll beat the Bruins tonight too. Let's try now that the seasons over.
My offseason guess is they're going to trade their top 10 pick and either Schenn or Courturier [personally I'd rather they trade Schenn] for a top pairing defenseman. I'd still love to have Weber but the Preds would look like idiots if they traded him after matching that ridiculous contract.
currently sitting at the 8 spot....can realistically finish anywhere btwn 6 and 11
here are the #1 overall pick odds
1st - 25.0%
2nd - 18.8%
3rd - 14.2%
4th - 10.7%
5th - 8.1%
6th - 6.2%
7th - 4.7%
8th - 3.6%
9th - 2.7%
10th - 2.1%
11th - 1.5%
12th - 1.1%
13th - 0.8%
14th - 0.5%
They were eliminated from 1, 2, 13 and 14, and 3 is out of reach unless everything goes their way, so that narrows things down a little. A loss tonight eliminates them from 12 and all but rules out 11, so there's a really good chance they're finishing with a top 10 pick. Too bad it won't be top 5. C'mon Alberta, win a couple more

I was responding to the odds. Thanks to last night's win, 6 is now out too, and 7 is three points away with two games left. If they lose their last two, they'll stay at 8, but they could end up dropping to 11 since Buffalo, Jersey and Phoenix are only one point up
This is probably not news to hockey heads, but I just read that Donovan McNabb's nephew is the #4 ranked prospect in the draft and there's a fairly legit shot that the Flyers get him. That'd be neat-o.
popeye jones' son is the best player in the draft and one of the better defenseman to come out in a long time....aka the guy the flyers wont get because they won a bunch of meaningless strike shortened season games
8. flyers lose tonight against ottawa and they lock in the 8th spot
if they win they will drop one spot for every one of the teams that lose their game
9. buffalo - idle
10. dallas vs detroit
11. nj at nyr
12. pheonix at anaheim
flyers tryin to ruin their draft status by giving their all at ottawa
On the plus side, this season is finally over. Let us never speak of it again.
Another good game from Mason, but they farged up their draft, falling to #11
1 = Florida
2 = Colorado
3 = Tampa Bay
4 = Nashville
5 = Carolina
6 = Calgary
7 = Edmonton
8 = Buffalo
9 = New Jersey
10 = Dallas

unfortunately they cant do both...big offseason decision will be which one goes...its has to be breezy right?....briere is cooked but he at least has a semi deep flyer history
It has to be Bryz, but Jesus Briere is done. Mason looks like he can play enough to remove any excuse for keeping Bryz and that should settle that.
Bryzgalov should be the one to get bought off. Then Tonya Harding Briere's knee and put him on LTIR for the year.
I read that Snider likes Bryz and has said that he's staying. Not sure how much truth there is to that. Also Randy Miller said Holmgren lashed out yesterday at people asking about Lavy's job and buying Briere out.

Rumor is that Snider wants to get the one more year out of Bryzgalov before buying him out. Apparently the cost of the contract drops dramatically next year.
Personally, it's time to cut bait with him - he is what he is for the Flyers, and will be nothing short of a major distraction if there is any sort of goalie controversy, which is inevitable if Bryzgalov stays.
Cut him, make Mason the starter, get a veteran backup (hello again to Ray Emery?), and let the Russian find his Sputnik somewhere else.
