So can anyone believe that both games played on aircraft carriers on November didn't work out?
In other news, thank god college bball started. Take my mind of the NFL.
It was great watching the UCONN/Michigan St. Game from Germany yesterday. Got the juices flowing. Exactly Matty, got my mind off the Bums and Birds train wrecks.
kentucky duke at 930.
bruce hornsbys son starts for unc ashville
No shtein. Name I haven't heard in a hell of a long time, Bruce Hornsby.
Watched UCLA the other night. Newly renovated Pauly Pavilion and wanted to see if Shabazz Muhammad was going to play. He was out for game 1 and is still ineligible due to some amateur status violation. They have that other highly touted recruit Kyle Anderson who started. He looked ok for his first college game.
that muhammad thing is bullshtein...something about him not paying for recruiting visits to duke and UNC.
but i'm fine with him sitting out another game, they play georgetown in brooklyn on monday.
dunk of the year in colorado murray state just called back for a charge...but good lord did dook throw down
HOYAS vs Indiana tomorrow.
also, muhammad got cleared to play tonight...had maybe 15 points and didn't do anything amazing but dude is going to be putting up highlight dunks all year. farger just gets up like a rocket any time he's near the rim.

In case anyone missed it Jack Taylor of Grinnell College scored 138 points last night. Crazy shtein about it was it was mostly off an iso dribble too. I'm sure he was happy to see NBA players were tweeting like crazy.

52-108 fg's
27-71 from 3 pt range
farg that kid..I'm pretty sure anyone who takes 108 shots - not to mention 71 from 3 - can score that many points. he took 78% of his teams shots; he's getting way too much credit for this.
yeah thats retarded.
also, that georgetown-indiana game last night went into OT and was one of the best november games i've ever seen.
otto porter will be POY in the big east.
deadspin just blasted the entire thing, it's a farging joke
Jack Taylor will be a NBA 1st rd pick.
Sean Woods of Morehead St. is such a douchebag. I hope one his players goes Latrell Sprewell on his ass.
i just watched Georgetown score 37 points and win.
billy donovan has been head coach of florida for 17 years. this blew my mind and makes me feel so old. i remember when he was hired and he still seems like a young guy to me.

anthony bennett - unlv - sick

I really wanted to see this kid play. Hawaii played UNLV last week and I missed it. Game started just before the "real" BSC title game ended last Saturday and kind of got lost in the hysteria of the day in college football. Pissed I missed it.
How did our boy Shabazz do against Texas yesterday? I saw UCLA won in a close one.
i only saw like 10 minutes of it....he looked just ok....seems like hes still trying to find his way

KU took a pretty embarrassing home loss today. OK St came out of the box swinging hard, was up 26-12 about 9 min in. KU came back and got within 6 at halftime and came out in the 2nd half looking like they were going to steam roll them but couldn't put it away.
I like KU's center. Tall skinny dude named Withey, but I call him Whitey because he's the man.
didnt see any of the game but i heard about it...def a terrible loss
because theres a stupid tournament theres way to many d1 cbb teams....so games like the kansas game today arent on tv...i hate it and its a big reason i cant get into cbb
It was on YES network. I guess they're partnered up with the Big 12 because KU sched says it was being broadcast on the Big 12 network but it was actually YES.
i need to upgrade my cable package....not for yes which i would get if i did it but for cbss which has a ton of good college sports on it

the big 12 network isnt a network...its essentially a third party
they produce the games and which ever tv stations are interested in picking up the game do so. i have no clue why yes wanted it but thats why it was on yes. im sure it was on some stations in kansas and oklahoma, too.
eventually there will be a big 12 network but right now only the big 10 and pac 12 and have their own stations. at some point the big 5--acc, b10, p12, b12, sec--will all of their own stations and separate from the ncaa.
Yeah, I figured it was something like that. I'd imagine that in KS and OK, it would be broadcast on local tv though, right?
most likely, yes
and why yes wanted that game, or any big 12 game, i have no earthly idea

just mind boggling
HA! Bitch fight in Ole Miss/Mizzou game. Wish Marshall Henderson got his head slapped.

KU loses this one tonight, which would have been 4 in a row, Lawrence, KS would probably have disintegrated.
During the game, one of the commentators mentioned that the last time KU lost 4 in a row was in 1988 and they still went on to win the chip. Good job, Larry Brown.

He's a good player but sometimes he seems like he's either not fast/athletic enough to create his own shot or he's just disinterested/lazy at times. He can dominate one night and then be practically invisibile the next. Last night being a perfect example. Only took 6 shots all game and I don't think any of them came with less than 4 min left in the game or OT. If the game comes easy to him from the start, he's usually able to ride it from start to finish. But if he struggles early, or if the defense is able to throw him off his game a little bit, he seems to carry that with him for the rest of the way too.
Elijah Johnson was farging insane last night. He's not that kind of shooter, he just got into one of those zones where practically everything he chucked up towards the rim went in, but I love his intensity and the way he attacks the basket, especially in transition. If he could bring that production to court more consistently, he'd probably be a decent NBA player too.
It was a much needed win for KU in order to stay with K-State in the Big 12, but the refs pretty much stole that game from Iowa St. Then again, it was poorly officiated from the start, so I guess they were just being consistant.

i dont really care about consistency for a 19-20 year old...you have to conclude that will come with age....dook has a complete nba skill set and is the only player in cbb i have seen that has a chance to be elite in the league...altho i havent seen enough of shabazz muhammed
Yeah, I'm not disagreeing at all. His all around skill set is legit and he's got a nice NBA body....or will once he adds a few more lbs of muscle....which will also come with age. I guess I'd just like to see him be more assertive on the court. I haven't seen much of that "type A" personality where he forces himself into the game or takes over late in games. I know it's college and he's a frosh on a team with a few senior starters, so he pretty much has to defer to them, but he's the best player on that team and sooner or later I'd like to see him take over (or at least try to) more often than he does. Can't be that passive in the NBA.
I don't think I've seen any UCLA games this year, so pretty much all I've seen of Muhammad are some SC highlights.

The bubble is god awful. Nova is in if they split their last two. I'll take any $ on that bet. If they go 1-1 btwn @Pitt/Gtown they're in. Lose both and they're out barring a run in the BET.
the reason nova is done is because they arent going to beat pitt or georgetown....of course anyone on the bubble can make it IF they beat _____________
the seton hall loss sealed the wildcats fate imo...not because they lost but because it tells me they are done and not beating these other teams going forward
lasalle is the big 5 team im most interested in....they have the highest ceiling....i honestly believe with the right matchups they can win two tourney games in a weak year like this...but they also could not make the tournament
they play at st louis next sat on nbcs....that is a huge litmus test for them....with the way st louis has played the last month or so id be happy with a close loss to them...get owned tho and you have to wonder
Well yeah but I'm saying Nova is IN now and will stay in if they split their last 2. The SHU loss is obviously a dagger because they had the game in hand before James Bell happened. I think they'll hang with Pitt tomorrow but I'm not optimistic they win one of their last two.
It's going to be great seeing LaSalle in again. Agree they can make some noise with the right draw.

this actually could be the year temple wins some games in the tourney even tho their team stinks....its a travesty how weak cbb is...almost anyone can make the sweet 16 this year
thats why i dont care if they get 8/9...who is the 1 theyll face? gonzaga. stillupfront's mom please.
previously id rather have an 11 or a 12 because the 1s were always so good. now since cbb is awful it honestly doesnt matter. 1-5 the teams are the same. 6-11 they are all mediocre. temple could make the elite 8 or lose in the play in game, so could 50 other teams.
this could be the year that a 16 wins
my concern with parity is that there isnt going to be any good lines to bet in the tourney
its possible
duke lost to god damn lehigh last year. its eventually going to happen unless cbb adopts baseball rules.
tcu over kansas and penn state over michigan were pretty much 16 over 1's

He reminds me a lot of a young Ray Allen, which would probably give me a 10 year boner if the Sixers could get him. I'd still like to see him be more assertive like that on a more consistant basis but going back to your comment about him still being so young, I guess he's just playing the role of good soldier by deferring to the upperclassmen on most nights.
ray allen was a shooter....this kid is a scorer
but he also can shoot and is much more athletic than ray...hes got the whole package....just needs to put it together at the next level
funny you mention ray allen tho...just last night me and a friend were talking about nba players and i told him bradley beal is the next ray allen....that cat if for real for real....he could lead the league in scoring as early as next season...best thing about beal is that it should prevent the bulletts from taking ben so thats one less team the sixers have to worry about if they can get up that high in the first place

gonzaga #1 in the coaches poll for first time ever
Since that team is historically a low seed that makes a deep tourney run, is there any doubt that they'll get bounced in the 1st round?

23 pt loss to Baylor sucked ass though.
Getting back to the conversation we were having a few weeks ago, I watched some youtube clips and whatnot of Shabazz Muhammad out at UCLA. Kid seems a little raw but has a great NBA body. Looks really athletic too. I'd like to see more than just highlights to check out the holes in his game but he def looks like he's got a pretty high ceiling. Might not be the worst thing if the 6ers get him if McLemore is off the board.
another game winner at the buzzer....this time an insane three toss for valpo
ridiculous
im not sure ive ever seen this before at any level
rider played an entire game today and had no assists
cat on st marys literally just got his tooth knocked out from an elbow and still guarded his man on an offensive rebound....then he spits the tooth into his hand and runs to the bench to hand it to his head coach....the coach is like you better get that shtein away from me....so then he hands it to a trainer and trys to go back in the game
awesome

this dude on richmond just lost his mind
up 2 after a 1 and 1 he shoves someone on charlotte and gets t'ed up.
hits the 2nd to make it a 1 pt game. another dude comes in..hits 2 and they get the ball. charlotte leads.
lol and now chris mooney gets tossed
richmond jesus christ what a collapse. they had the game won.
more like ref collapse
that first technical was an unbelievably awful call
cant wait to hear mooney post game
up 3 with four seconds left then down three with one second left....on six PT play with techs...never seen that before
you gotta do something about the shove...that was blatant
then the refs missed that travel on the charlotte dude when they were up 1 with 3 seconds left, which caused mooney to lose his mind. just an unreal ending. could not make that up if you tried.
oklahoma had a worse finish
up 12 with under five minutes left and lost by SEVEN

Seeing games like this makes it so obvious why it's hard for small programs to get consistently good. The programs either get good skilled big men who are really undersized (that top programs don't want because of their size), or guys with good size who are doofy and unathletic as shtein.
great start for temple....so weird to see them have a team this year that is better offensively than defensively

what a half
this brick show by wisconsin is impressive even for them
Nice job Wisconsin. What a horrible second half. 15-58 from the field today.

Colorado was down 16 at the half. Now they're up 5 with 9 min left. Illinois just hit their 1st FG of the half.
i think illinois just scored more pts in the last 30 seconds than in the previous 15 minutes...literally
people rave about the tournament because of stupid pools and shtein but could cbb the sport be any worse...the level of play is disgusting beyond description and outside of the 215 this tournament has been horrid
Goddamn you're trolling it up today.
watch the sport and then get back to me....ive literaly watched college basketball for more than 24 of the last 48 hours
you might have put a total of five hours in since the season started in november

last ten minutes of second half - 4 pts
down only 6

they were 7-28 before the final 7-7

absolutely amazing
just read that wichita states 14 threes were the most the team has hit in a single game in more than ten years
romey this is why we still watch sports that might currently suck
wait so does rome not think cbb sucks or is he mad that its being brought up
he doesnt currently watch it....maybe has never watched it...but for some reason is mad that i think its in a massive funk right now
hed have an argument to possibly dispute this if he wasnt to busy watching snowstorm soccer games
i dont think its a funk
its a systematic lack of talent. you cant have these 1 and dones and subsequent lack of dominate teams and expect to see good basketball. when gonzaga is no 1, when butler makes back to back title games, when play in game vcu makes the final 4, when a freshman loaded kentucky team win a title you are more than in a funk
you suck
if you took just the top 25 western kentucky teams of all time this years version wouldnt make it....yet they should have beaten kansas last night
kansas is a one seed and farging lost to tcu this year
what
the
farg
aau-inazation of the game. nobody good sticks around past their sophomore year. nobody good even really wants to be in college.
if it wasnt for the tournament and office pools cbb would be dead. but the fact is no one really cares people about the product people just want to fill out their brackets. in fact every single coach and analyst openly admits the quality is insanely bad. but everyone keeps cashing their checks.
it hurts the nba, too. they never get players coming in with buzz. they need to go to baseball rules.
high school kids can get drafted but are ineligible from ncaa only if they sign. meaning if they are drafted but dont like the feel they can go to college. but if you go to college, youre there for 3 years.
yeah its sickening how all anyone cares about is brackets...its actually worse than fantasy football because at least with the nfl people still care about the actual games...cbb is literally about a sheet of paper one month a year and nothing else
basically
no one ever talks cbb during the year. and nice theres no good teams, seeding doesnt matter. it used to be death to be a 7/10 or 8/9 because youd be stuck against the 1 or 2. now it doesnt matter. no team is that good. so basically all you need to do is get in and you can conceivably win the tourney.
i hope the final four this year is something like florida gulf coast-la salle-creighton-oregon. jim nantz will have a heart attack.
who was the doofus that said indiana would shutdown khaliff

theres fans but they are almost exclusively limited to college dorms and people who used to live in those dorms....its not a national sport like college football...cbb tv ratings are non existent....theres too many teams and the level of play is atrocious
it more or less doesnt exist to 95% of the country until march

Yeah this has really bothered me and this statement bothers me even more. I love the guys talent, but dont just show the nation you can fly in the regular season--do it on the big stage too.
"It was a great feeling being on that bench and supporting the team," McLemore said
I hope it's just the college mentality with him. He's a frosh and KU is always a senior heavy team, so even with his talent he probably realizes that he's not at the top of the pecking order and is just deferring to the upperclassmen. His comments could just be him trying to be a good teammate. Still, my biggest complaint with him all year is that he doesn't seem to have that dominant personality that you'd expect and his performance so far in the tourney (along with those comments) kind of support that.
That kid's gonna be the #1 pick in this June's draft, that's how awful it's gonna be
Watched less than 5 minutes of this entire season and still got 11/16, still have my Final Four intact and had a perfect East bracket
so to sum up everyone's take away from the first weekend
1. their brackets
2. how little cbb they watched over the year yet their brackets
3. how weak the nba draft is gonna be
4. florida gulf coast
aaaaaaand this is a sporting event

Miami laying a huge egg.
Marquette gonna hit the elite eight.
Wowowowowowow
Laquinton Ross from deeeep! Ohio state for the second game in a row.
Up three with two seconds.
Great finish to the OSU/AZ game.
Indiana is going down too.
La Salle is still asleep.
Another Kansas/Bill Self choke job
Up 11 with like 3:00....
OT loss
Elijah Johnson screwed the pooch....twice. Missed the front end of a 1 and 1 that would have put them up 4, possibly 5. Instead, Michigan gets the board and Burke hit that ridiculous 3 to tie. And I don't know wtf he was doing on the last play of the game.
McLemore was money for the first 37 min, but he also missed one at the rim late in the game and was invisible during the closing minutes and OT. Hate seeing KU lose, but what a great 2nd half/OT from Burke.
FGCU up 15-4 already
I hope they win the whole farging thing so Todd can lament how the small team knocked the big boys out.
They're losing 48-37 now.
they were only ever in it cause florida couldnt hit a shot for the first 15 minutes of the game
Your womens basketball moment: Elena DelleDonne finishes 5th in career points all time.
Too bad no one will watch you in the WNBA, Elena.
Did anyone watch her in college?

Her, Griner, and the Maryland chick all got some national attention this year, which is still more than can be said for the WNBA

I think Syracuse may be the team I underestimated the most in this thing. They were so inconsistent this year and they have gotten hot. First FF in ten years...which surprised me that its been that long
nothing more important in cbb these days than a nasty d....theres like 5-7 teams in cbb tha can legitimately shoot the ball
i am not a blame the ref guy but this game is despicable

Personally I think Wichita State is the team I most underestimated.
That was a pretty gruesome injury.
Holy shtein
What happened? Turned my back for 10 seconds, wife says what the heck happened, won't let me rewind. Knee?
Ok, just saw the replay. No wonder there were only a few replays. Jesus Christ.
case and point why these guys needs to get paid
that dude might not be an nba player but im sure he could play pro somewhere. now he cant.
"Lousiville has confirmed it is a broken leg"
Sideline reporters are farging useless.
Anyone have a link?
I haven't seen a link but was watching live.
Shin bone through the skin...players on the bench vomiting.

heuaiugbadsgbgbdsg jesus I can barely watch that...but LMAO at the bench's reaction when they look over and see it :-D

because broken legs are beyond modern medicine's ability to be treated.
duh.

A real team player would have duct taped that shtein up and got back out there
Pitino said it broke in two places and of course we know it came thru the skin. One year recovery. He said its the same injury that Michael bush suffered while at Louisville

hes never going to be the same. the free labor he provided a profitable corporation just cost him potential employment opportunities. none of this is correct.
Nothing says free like a hundred thousand dollar college education.
I'm sure he's being held to extremely high academic standards.

no, you know what's horrendous? people who felt the need to post it on facebook or twitter. if you feel so compelled to post a picture as horrible as that, then do what ed did and post a link and call people Hoydas if they choose not to look.
also horrendous is the outpouring of thoughts and prayers from everyone - let's get a grip. it was a horrible injury and the fact that it happened on national tv during a marquee matchup means that the most possible amount of people saw it, but the guy isn't dead. he broke his leg. gruesome, yes, but he broke his leg.

That's not what I meant. It was for people that click on it to look then get all bitchy because they clicked on it. I'm not attacking anyone that doesn't wanna see it
You'd be a lot cooler if you did.

and i wasnt attacking you, easy. i was suggesting that if people want to share the picture, then do it the way you did and give the viewer the option to view.

AMEN!!!!
You would think the dude was shot in the face or something. Yes I know its a dangerous injury because of arteries and whatnot but for crying out loud the whole thoughts and prayers thing is overboard.
Know what helps make it go overboard?

wichita state went 26 minutes without a turnover then in the last four mintes has committed seven
can you say CHOKE
Yep I was just about to say that they've choked on that Louisville pressure
best laid plans
have wichita st +10 and louisville over michigan in the final for the pool
wowow...huuuuuge tie up there

how do you call that a tie up
It was quick whistle...but dude picked up his dribble and it looked like the LOU player got his hands on the ball
i just dont know how you call it that quick in that spot, it was the game
michigan 4 three pters at the second timeout and only tied
trey burke and stauskus combined have zero pts and michigan is up nine
impressive run by syracuse...i had no faith they could come from behind or come close to doing it
Michigan is cold...they need to stop the jumpers.
As hardaway drains one
i give them credit for coming this far but the cuse is just not a team that can score enough to come from behind
It's about to be sewn up here...yep...it's over
i cant see louisville beating michigan...what do you think j?
i think michigans ability to score from almost any position and from so many spots on the floor will trump the cardinals defense...and you cant press trey burke
Two awful possessions by Michigan. Damn.
I don't know...I think a UM/UL final is going to be fun and the most exciting matchup.
I think Michigan is more prone to cold streaks and see Looey as the more explosive team.
wow what a terrible call
i thinks its the opposite j....michigan has scorers everywhere...louisville is press defense and grit
jesus...no fouls
Remember how Michigan seemed to limp towards the end of the season? They seemed prone to cold streaks and are showing a bit tonight.
I love Louisville's pressure.
Now...if Burke and Hardaway are on point and can beat that press on the regular it could be trouble.
i have mcgary for a half unit under 11 pts....he has 10 right now with this free throw coming
lane violation and he still misses the free one
dont foul there....make burke give it up...you had plenty of time
cj fair wants to murder brandon triche right now...what an awful take
What a crazy last min
Missed FTs
Burke almost throwing it away - great save by Timmy jr
My god these missed FTs are chokeariffic
It would be superb if a wolverine player called a TO when they don't have one
Well...Michigan escaped. Poor final possessions by the orange.

Holy shtein what an exciting game!
Michigan's version of Jeff Hornacek was lighting it up from three. Then Louisville's guy starts banging threes! Erased a ten point deficit with a quickness!
And that loose ball alley-oop by Louisville was a beaut
farging Siva! Polynesian Power!
All ball! Michigan got farged!

Any bad call hurts the game but when it negates a great play it's a travesty.
free abortions for life for pitino for anywhere in louisville metro area
Michigan got badly outcoached down the stretch there. Any hope of Michigan winning was drained away from about 1:10 to :30.
jesus got a shoutout from siva and the crowd goes crazy

Heard of him now.
haha...
great win by the milt wagners
that was a validly great game btwn two teams with talent at numerous spots.....theres not nearly enough games like that in the sport
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/horizon/2013/04/30/wisconsin-green-bay-brian-wardle-abuse-allegations-ryan-bross/2123569/
QuoteAmong those allegations were:
— Wardle ridiculed him after he defecated in his pants during a preseason conditioning drill, calling him "a piece of (expletive)" and that "he had never seen such a big (expletive)" and continued to bring up that incident throughout the season.
According to Bross, Wardle said: "We literally ran the (expletive) out of one player" and that "we might need to try it again next year."
— Wardle used a homophobic slur and other sexually related derogatory language to to indicate Bross was soft, Bross said.
— Wardle told Bross he would be a better player if Bross had sex with a girl he was interested in dating, according to Bross.
