Big game from Rue tonight. He pops off for 21, 8 dimes and 4 boards
Gallanari will not play
bout time
god i love molly sullivan
spencer hawes is giving the welcome speech? WTF?
took about seven possesions for me to curse out evan turner for the first time on the year
I hate Iguodala but the boo'ing every time he touches the ball is just stupid
evan turner has already taken two 18ft jumpers. BRILLIANT
at least it means they are paying attention so they will notcie how much of a better player he is than his replacment....i never cared that people hated iguodala...i didnt even like him...and if they wanna boo him off that court im all for it...he has an awful personality...
what always annoyed me is that they allowed their hatred of him as a guy to brainwash themselves into also believeing he wasnt a good player
Quote from: Eagles_Legendz on October 31, 2012, 07:24:29 PM

worse than the shot selection is the foundational problem of having a three who cant knock down a jumper
Richardson and his almost automatic three-ball are nice to have.
Hawes looks like a farging idiot
how nice is it to have shooters on the court
it's going to be interesting to see watching a team with legit shooters, though it'll make ET even more frustrating.
I love having shooters but don't wanna see them fall in love with jump shooting like last year. Drive the lane, please

my perceived weakness of this team is going to be perimeter playmaking on both ends of the court....i think they are going to struggle defending dribble drive on the defensive end....also how will they do defending the leagues legit scorers especially small forwards...they are really gonna miss iguodala there...
on the other end they have shooters now but they dont have many guys that can handle the ball...hopefully jeru can really elevate his game by adding dribble drive which has been his weakness...but other than that they have no one on the team that can get to the hoop...basically they are going to have bynum and then spread the court with shooters......but thats a tough way to win night after night
classic iggy end of the half.
all the games on my package are out except the sixers
The Denver announcing team is awful
here we go with this shtein again
jesus....come on.
Denver on like a 16-3 run
Sixers only up 1
came back home for lunch just in time to see them choke
at least i hear the lovely malik. wut up playa
Spencer Gminski getting it done tonight
1-0
that one stretch of missed 3s was maddening. gonna be a lot of that this year.
hawes for mvp.
Yeah Hawes' goofy republican ass was ballin tonight

who needs bynum
we got spence. white means right

My section started an MVP chant for Hawes with about 4 min left.
Also, Nick Young is horrendous on defense. I counted 5 different times that he got completely turned around on D....and that was just the first half.
MollySully is the real deal..I may have actually fallen in love tonight.
Jrue agrees to 4yr $41m deal.
seems reasonable in light of the curry/lawson deals
I wanted Lawson in the draft. In hindsight is everyone happy with Holiday or would Lawson had been the better pick?
rather have jeru....lawson is already tapped out as far as ceiling...jeru is two years younger and more importantly like a half foot taller...i like lawson and hes much quicker than jeru but because of his size hes limited on both ends of the court...its really hard these days to be a lead guard and under six foot
how irrelevent is ET on this team, i saw him in a camera shot in the 4th quarter and i had totally forgot about him.
spencer had a great game but lavoy was awful last night, his rebounding isn't as good as it should be.

this ludicrous point forward crap that they try to run with turner needs to stop
i said this the day he was drafted....he cant shoot or dribble at an acceptable nba level
so why are you going to play him out high with the ball in his hands...get him down on the block to take advatange of his size...hes actually pretty decent finishing in the lane
nick young and defense don't get along. his help equal smacking whoever is driving in the lane, and he's abandoned his assignment on the perimeter for awful double teams a handful of times already.
Turner is a Hoyda and sucks.
Nick Young is even worse. Dude takes the absolute worst shots. Mike Breen made the obvious point 'its like every shot he takes he's falling away', fargin stupid. Everything bad that people said about Young over the offseason was confirmed in just the first quarter I've seen this season. Good thing is I probably don't see Doug putting up with that shtein for long, so eventually I doubt Young gets any minutes.

Then there was a possession where Kidd was against Young 1 on 1 on the wing, took him off the dribble and layed it in. Before that possession, J Kidd hasn't made a move to the paint since 2005.
missed the beginning, what happened to richardson?
Rolled ankle on a cameraman behind the basket going for a rebound
has there ever been a more empty double double in the history of pro basketball than evan turner today....god he sucks
I said the exact same thing to my buddy after the game. Verbatim 'Somehow Turner had a double double, which was like the most invisible double double in NBA history'

Damnit people, wheres the love? This is all we got.
farging Turner how does he miss both of those

Nice fargin win
ET had a nice game.
After being down 22-12 the Sixers have opened up a 45-31 lead.
The bench has been huge
second quarter scoring
sixers 32
toronto 7
lol
Toronto fans were booing...I didn't know they did that
been almost ten years since the sixers have won three consectuitve games that were all on the road
lavoy allen played over 20 minutes tonight and did not have a single point or rebound
Hard to believe, Harry.
Royal Ivey and Swaggy P were doin the lords work
why cant the nba season start in january
i didnt even know they were playing today
So apparently Bynum won't play for another two months.

how much is face for those seats?
face is 165 per ticket - $330 for the pair...looking for $150 for tonight for them both - I just want them out of my hands
can you give me tickets to wed dec 12 or sun dec 16 as a belated bar mitzvah present?
just scalp for five bucks and go sit down in them.....thats what me and matty would do
not sure i have ever seen a team give up in the first half of one of the first ten games of a season
yeah that was pretty gross...i stopped watching at halftime and then forgot to put it back on.
gonna be a lot of games like that this year because they have no one who can get to the basket...everything is a jumper...low % shots and when they arent falling its gonna get ugly
also without bynum they are horrendously bad on the glass

Yep yep yep.
Some nights their jumpers will fall and they'll shoot other teams outta the gym. But relying on jumpers is a flawed philosophy and when they're icy last night happens.
ive got a pair for sunday if anyone wants em..
yea if this was 3 weeks from now id take them. so why dont you respond to my pm you farging jew
i was busy lighting my friday night candles..give me a bit, i'll check if i have those
Bynum now has cartilidge problems in both knees. I'm still happy with the trade.
dont know if anyone watched to the end or watched at all....i only watched the end....but i got to a bar at 9.16 and there was 1.11 left....the game didnt end until 9.32.....it was unfargingreal
Yeah I watched, ending was frustrating as hell. It's nice having a bunch of guys on the team who can shoot though, opposed to just Jodie Meeks (sometimes). When they play real good teams they're going to get killed though. Nobody on the team drives to the basket. At the start of the 4th quarter they had only attempted 2 FT's or something.

has nothing to do with philly....he was damaged goods from the start....why do you think they got him for so cheap......i called this shtein from second one...its why i dont care at all...and in fact am glad about this as the last thing i ever wanted to happen was for them to sign him long term
game is on nba tv tonight
They had an interview with Bynum on the pre game show. He said he bowls quite often but after bowling last saturday his right knee swelled up like his left knee. He seemed baffled by what was going on but was in good spirits like he'd be back at some point. I'd like to see him for a few months just to see what this team looks like. No way they sign him long term and I'll be shocked if a team takes a chance on him.

They will definitely sign him long term - someone made a good point how Eric Gordon got a hefty deal on a bum knee and he ain't no big.
One of my buddies down in Philly said that Bynum might be out for the year. Said he saw it on local Fox news. Haven't seen it anywhere else though. Troof?
Probably Eskin saying that
So it's completely false then.

wip just reported an ex teammate of andrew bynum said this about him "i dont know if he likes bowling but i do know that i have never played with a guy who likes basketball less than andrew bynum"
Let me guess....Ron Artest.
I thought he might have had a chance the way he was progressing through last year, but as soon as he started gingerly running down the court last year in the playoffs it was curtains for the longevity of his career.
I was never once excited about this trade due to that very fact. Just can't believe I have to keep watching a center-less team over and over again. Sucks.

got it makes me cringe when evan turner makes a bad pass then trys to tell a 13 year veteran like jason richardson that he was at the wrong spot on the court....he does it all the time too
kwame brown leaves the court and the sixers immediately rip off nine in a row....hes such a bum
nick young feelin it tonight...this might be one of his patented bust out games where he goes for like 30...happens a few times a year
j-rich just had a nasty layup.
if jrue isn't careful, he's gonna be an all star
kwame started
played five minutes
was flat out awful on the defensive end
and hasnt sniffed the court since
uh oh jrich

Nov. 20, 9:01 PM. Nick Young had an assist.
This would be a real nice win in a sense because they've pretty much trailed all game and have zero business winning it.

DiLeo now saying OdenBynum out indefinitely. I'm saying it's clear he's never going to play for the 76ers, who got scammed.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8671136/andrew-bynum-philadelphia-76ers-indefinitely
whatever. the pundits talking about it being a disaster are dumb. The Sixers weren't "on the rise" or whatever with Iguodala. Iggy was a nice player and the Sixers were stagnant with that construction of the team and weren't going to have cap space or win anything. That was the win/win aspect of this deal. If Bynum was healthy and you sign him to an extension you get a legit big man to anchor the team, putting you in a better position than they were in previously. If he wasn't, you let him go, and you can max out someone in two offseasons and can hopefully reconstruct the team.
It was a chance I'm glad they took, it didn't work out but you can't stay in purgatory forever. What sucks is they gave up Harkless, a first, and took on Richardson's contract. I see Iguodala leaving as a necessary step in the right direction. At least they can offer a max deal come seasons end.
Thad was a beast tonight
Yeah Thad was in beast mode and ET played half decent as well...still outta control at times though.
The perimeter defense was shtein in OT and their shooting in the latter stages of the 4Q left a lot to be desired.
As for Bynum - that is a deal you have to make, to take that shot on a legit big man. I am not ready to write him off entirely though. I think he plays this year and they still sign him.
Bynum may never play again, forget just this season. He has no cartilage in his knees and has to support a giant frame. Signing him would be really stupid. Remember Jeff Ruland?
We went from Webber, to Brand waiting to get rid of their deals why make the exact same mistake with Bynum?
I do remember him, yes. But like I said the other day - it would not be unprecedented to see a team sign a guy with knee issues to a long term deal. He may have killed his shot at a max deal, but some team is going to sign him and take a shot. Why? Because he is a legit big man.
I am not saying they definitely do it - but I would not be shocked if they do.
i called bynum when it happened.....let it go....hes a waste of life

Sixers had the lead for a bit, but the Bulls evened it up and looked like they pulled away late. Sixers were down by a deuce with 20 or so seconds on the clock. The Bulls were having trouble with the inbound pass. The ball got knocked away and was loose...but Rip Hamilton and his 95% from the line came up with it. So he makes the first one but misses the second one, again the Sixers can't come up with the ball and Hamilton gets fouled and sinks both buckets. Game over.
sounds pretty frustrating
just studying the box and of course its been a problem all year...without bynum i dont know that there is a solution but their rebounding issues are killing them
This team would be a legit contender with Bynum playing. It's a farging tease.
And as much as I hate Turner he's turning into a decent ball player. I hope his value peaks, then they move him in a package for a disgruntled superstar. They'll have a max deal to play with too.
im down with that plan...but how many true superstars are left in the league....with wade and kobe declining its basically durant and lebron and they obviously arent getting either of them
Replace 'superstar' with 'max type player'. I'm down with Al Jefferson and letting him develop with Turner and Holiday if they decided to keep Turner. If they don't like Jefferson at least they have a trade piece in Turner.

jeru was terrible tonight...no one sixer has played well...thank god for celtic turnovers or this would have been a 12 point loss
What a ridiculously awful foul that was on Jrue. He played great d and Rondo forearmed him. It's like watching the early 2000 Lakers

I used to listen to that on my way home from work when I lived up here...."you're in the living room with Sonny Hill"....he'd let dudes talk for like 10 minutes
world might or might not be a community outreach guy for the sixers
sonny might or might not do 3 hours of radio once a week and lend his name to a summer rec league for poor teenagers. im not sure thats bringing home the bacon.
marlon wayans was there though. thats my celebrity report of the night. realistically i was no. 4 in the house.

they actually got outhustled in the 4th quarter by what should have been a dead team
2/13 from 3
what...only 11FTs??
jump shooting...for the loss
they cant match up against the bulls frontline...hawes thad and erkel are so soft
jeru sprained his foot and is now in a walking boot....not as bad as it sounds i guess because hes listed as a game time decision for indianan tomorrow nite
He doesn't have to run much anyways....just plant him somewhere outside the paint and have him shoot jumpers. Thats what happens anyways

jeru out tonight = loss
unreal ending to that half....never really seen something liek that....a perfect storm of suck for indiana
Turner playing point, Nick Young at SF = derp derp derp
i gotta give them credit for hanging in...they have been double digits three different times in this game and have come back
the boards just kill them
unreal....nick cant make a short runner and paul george swishes a 27 footer at the other end
bradley cooper back in town for the sixers lake show tomorrow ate at lee's in horsham today
QuoteAndrew Bynum sat at his locker prior to the Sixers' Sunday night tip against his former team, the Lakers, talking to reporters, many of whom covered him during his years in Los Angeles.
This is a big week for Bynum, who will visit knee specialist David Alltchek in New York City on Thursday to get an update on the bilateral bone bruises in each of his knees.
If all goes well, Altchek will allow Bynum to ramp up his conditioning by adding the treadmill to his workout routine.
"I am feeling much better obviously, and when I see the doctor, hopefully, I will be cleared for impact," Bynum said. "My right knee is fine."
Bynum added that his left knee feels better then it did six days ago, when he last updated the status of his two injured knees.
As for the Lakers, Bynum reminisced about his days playing for the purple and gold and empathized with the adjustment Dwight Howard is making in playing with a talent like Kobe Bryant.
"I think Dwight's a great player, but he's going to have to get accustomed to playing with Kobe obviously, and not touching the ball every single play," Bynum said.
Bynum's attempted a career high 13.3 field goals per game his final season in Los Angeles; Kobe attempted 23.
"Later I thought I was able to get the ball more and do more things with the ball, so I could definitely see how at the end it could stunt growth," Bynum said. "Winning championships there was fun. But obviously my time there is done. Health is the main concern with me now.
"I don't regret anything. Personally, they traded No. 1 for No. 2 and that is what happened."
Bynum would have loved to play against the Lakers tonight or on New Year's Day when the Sixers visit the Staples Center to prove his No.1 for No. 2 theory.
"You want to play against your old team always, but I would just be excited to play any game at this point," Bynum said.
When that day comes Bynum is confident he will make the Sixers significantly better.
"I think I could do wonders for this team because right now we don't have a lot of post threat and that would help free up a lot of our guys from the outside – knock down shooters," he said. "And Jrue (Holiday) and Evan (Turner) are playing a lot with the ball right now so it would be good to join them and Thaddeus (Young) also."
thad just shot an airball from the half circle
hurry back Jrue...another L
How many times did they just let OJ Mayo drive the lane?
It was cool to see Dorell Wright try to go Reggie-in-the-Garden at the end but too little too late
without iguodala they have no one to stop people like mayo last night
imo the most important stat in basketball is defensive fg%
sixers were 4th in the nba last year and 20th this year
denver was 23rd in the nba last year and is 7th this year
give you one guess why

it's going to be interesting to see watching a team with legit shooters, though it'll make ET even more frustrating.
my perceived weakness of this team is going to be perimeter playmaking on both ends of the court....i think they are going to struggle defending dribble drive on the defensive end....also how will they do defending the leagues legit scorers especially small forwards...they are really gonna miss iguodala there...
lol at internet callbacks.
still don't give a farg, glad he's gone. hope he dies.
its real life call backs...happens all too often
listen and learn
awful calls are much more prominent
of course epsecially on the internet but in this case everywhere....thats kinda the point...i have to listen to and take shtein from non basketball knowing nimrods saying the dumbest stuff for seven years...of course i am gonna tell them to listen more when they are class when they are proven wrong
stop looking for an argument and answer this yes or no question:
did the team that was structured last year have a chance to win a title?
what does that have to do with anything...the fact that they didnt have a chance to win last year has nothing to do with you being an idiot when it comes to pro basketball

cmon man--so you only need Andre Iguodala to stop the superstar OJ Mayo now? They just need to know how to rotate to the ball and step in front of someone--but they don't.
Stats I'm looking at for defense is as a team...and Denver is 14 and Sixers at 19 in def fg%. You have to go by the adjusted fg% because it takes into consideration opp 3pt shots.
Denver--points allowed (almost 101 pts a game), FGM, 3pters allowed (which Denver is 2nd to last in the league) the Sixers are way ahead of them. Iguodala has changed nothing.

the only thing that matters is winning a title....so what does it matter if iguodala is a good defender. they werent winning a title unless they made some moves and he was the logical choice to go.
unless the only thing that matters is winning a title in every sport except the nba where its cool if the sixers go 41-41 so long as they are top 10 in the league in field goal percentage defense
stop talking about that trade like it mattered. they werent going anywhere then and they arent going anywhere now. what difference does it make.

opp fg% is more important than all those numbers combined...rebounding would probably be next
and a having a top wing defender in this league means a ton...not just because you can slow down the best scoreres in the league but because the rest of you team can stay home and not break down your whole defense by having to help whether via a double team or because you got beat

this isnt about the team....a championship or the trade
its about idiots
im not trying to get into a fight about opp fg %, i really dont care
all i care about is the sixers winning a title and thats not happening for the foreseeable future so whoever the farg is on their team, whether it be a great defender or a disastrous oafish 7 foot loon, dont matter too much.
VORP
another pathetic game
Turner rolled his ankle and left.
pretty soon they will be giving people sitting in the front row some run
so nba titles hopes gone?
chance for a win tomorrow nite gone
Moultrie was assigned to the developmental league...what a stupid trade. The only positive is maybe they're making room for Bynum
Thad killing it tonight
best sixer game ive been to since game 7 milwaukee
evan turner did not score from the field and the sixers only played eight players and still won comfortably at memphis....crazy game
anyone watching this wonderful game
i wanna see jeru have a iguodala type defensive effort tonight against stef
david lee might have a 20 - 20 night
this game has 115 - 110 written all over it
really fun to watch so far
how the mighty have fallen....ric bucher doing molly sully's job for gs....reporting that shaun livingston was ready to take the amtrak to philly after bullets released him but he was claimed by cleveland
makes sense since they badly need someone behind jeru
the next contested shot in this game will be the first...sixers should be up ten right now but cant shoot....so many open shots
et seven shots so far....had four the entire game the other night
thug beidres with four fouls already
can someone guard jarrett jack
Hawes just stands there and gets dunked on. Punk.

against a team that has zero inside defensive presence the sixers refuse to go in the paint...everything is awfu jumpers
For some reason my CSN isn't working...
lucky
Jrue's shutting down Curry pretty well. His game is at a whole other level this year.
Hawes is fargin terrible. The bigs are terrible. Kwame's been in for 3 minutes and looks like the best big on the team.
their only big got hurt bowling
and yes jeru did exactly what i called out at the start and they still will lose by double digits....this was one of those games where jumpers didnt fall and they lose....period
How the farg does that even happen? Doofy ass steps over the line, slips and eats it
nice run here tho....but these always fall short in the nba
WOW jeru!
with that last shot nick young has now played 14 minutes and taken 13 shots
hes played great but just a brutal run up by jeru there
kwame brown is pusssssie....fargin should have hammered lee and instead backed up and basically got out of the way....sickening

nba xmas to june
This is the part of the year that igy leads a double life.
i love the spot the sixers are in tonight...i think portland sold out last night against showtime
vanilla hawes with the shave....hopefully to make him play tougher
not royal ivey.....royal blue
sixers are gonna lose inside tonight but they need to just not get murdered by hickson and aldridge and they win
these turnovers are ridiculous
sixers shooting 57% and down by seven
turnovers the difference so far
ive never seen someone get pushed around under the net as much as Hawes does. it's embarrassing
thats why he can usually be found hanging out around the three point line
does anyone in the nba get the ball to the rim quicker than thad....reminds me so much of what antwan jamison used to do

he should be the #1 stud in the city but 3/4 of it doesn't care about the team he plays for
Funny you say that, we turned on the Sixers game on Fox West after the Orange Bowl got so bad last night. My nephews asked me the same thing about Jrue and why he wasn't the man in Philly. Has there been a bigger boner deflating season than this one?
In years past we knew who they were. Either zesty or mediocre with slight fluctuations here and there.
But this year to grab a legit big - hold a press conference in the goddamn Constitution Center with legit hype? And for it to crumble without even getting started? Jesus.
By the way - Spencer Hawes is a waste of oxygen. Someone send this mope to MA so he can become an NRA spokesman or something.

how many more wins do you think they have with a healthy bynum? 3? 4? i don't think much more than that.
its hard to predict how players will mesh....but the fact is the sixers built their entire team around the idea that they would have a monster in the middle...if you are talking about a healthy bynum playing at his all star level then i think its way more three or four....id say they be 4-5 games over five hundred
just based on the help hed bring on the boards would have won them three or four more games....they are an abomination on the glass
ho hum...another awful loss
Josh Harris probably realizing this basketball thing isnt as easy as it looked.

They took a chance on Bynum and I give them credit for that. They had to take that chance and I'd rather suffer through this garbage now then mediocrity for the next 10 years. I hope they blow bad enough to get a top 5 pick. Move Turner in the offseason. Try to be creative with a max contract.
BTW how crappy is that Moultrie trade looking now?
I give them credit for that too - that was a deal you have to make with the dearth of big men in the NBA. You take a shot.
Hindsight with giving up Moultrie and Vucevic is killing them though...because this team has no inside presence at all. Spencer Hawes is a joke. I'd prefer Charles Shackelford now over him.
theres really nobody they can sign
basically they need to continue being terrible until they draft they next lebron/durant who might or might not be obvious
Jrue Holiday, all star
The Jeff Ruland trade is looking better and better all the time.
The ironic thing is the Sixers might have still gotten the better end of the Howard trade despite Bynum not bothering to lace up his sneakers once all year. That's how weak that piece of shtein "Superman" is.
At this point, I'm actually kind of hoping that Bynum doesn't suit up for a single game this year because it's gotta pretty much kill his chances of getting a max contract from anyone. So maybe the Sixers can re-sign him on the cheap and the year off helps rejuvenate him a bit and you start 2013/14 with a healthy Bynum, Jrue and a hopefully top 5-7 pick. Very wishful thinking, I know, but I guess there's a chance it could happen.
And yes, Howard is a farging waste. I've said before that given a healthy Bynum or Howard, I'd take Bynum in a heartbeat. Glad to see Stuperman hasn't made me think otherwise.
by all accounts bynum has arthritis...i suppose there will be times he feels ok...but for the most part he needs to be treated like a broken down horse and taken out behind the stable....not to mention hes a weirdo who doesnt seem the least bit interested in playing professional basketball

Did Evan Turner really dribble out the entire shot clock himself and then jack up a poor shot? Did Doug's head explode?
It'd be hilarious to see AI as a coach after "the rant".

The Sixers, sources say, are open to a shakeup as they continue to wait for the return of Andrew Bynum to give All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday some badly needed help. And I'm told Philly, as such, is shopping (or at least making calls to gauge the value of) swingman Evan Turner. ESPN.com

PHILADELPHIA — Andrew Bynum said he's planning to return to Los Angeles for the All-Star break and thinks he can make his 76ers debut sometime this month, although there is still no official timetable for him to join his teammates in practice or appear in a game.
"The only reason I wouldn't play [in February] would probably be a bone bruise or something like that," Bynum said.
But the rest of his update didn't sound so optimistic.
Bynum, 7-0, 300 pounds, visited his longtime orthopedist, Dr. David Altchek, in New York on Thursday to receive Synvisc lubricating injections in his ailing knees. On Monday, Bynum said that while his right knee feels "phenomenal," he still has pain and broken cartilage in his left knee and that the injections "didn't help that much, to be honest."
"It was an attempt at kind of trying to just ease the pain, but it hasn't really changed," Bynum said.
He is expected to resume his rehabilitation today.
Bone bruises and damaged cartilage in his knees have prevented the one-time All-Star center from practicing or playing in a game since the Sixers acquired him from the Lakers in a four-team trade in August. He is an unrestricted free agent after the season.
"It's just in there," Bynum said about a piece of broken cartilage in his left knee, which is preventing the joint from moving smoothly. "We're trying to grind it up without creating a bone bruise. There's a fine line. Yeah, it catches. It used to catch in my right knee, but it broke off and grinded up, so I don't feel anything in my right knee. So we just hope this one does the same."
Bynum said his knees are supporting 75 percent to 80 percent of his body weight when he runs on an anti-gravity treadmill. His workouts are lasting upwards of three hours at a time and also feature work on an elliptical machine, weight training on his upper and lower body and "one-on-zero" basketball drills, which include shooting from largely stationary positions. Bynum said he still experiences pain in his left knee when jumping, moving laterally and squatting.
"It's almost like more of a range of motion-type issue," he said.
Next Slide
The 25-year-old was diagnosed with a bone bruise and damaged cartilage in his right knee in September and a "mirror issue" in his left knee in November, when it began to swell after bowling.
A week ago, Sixers general manager Tony DiLeo said Bynum was on pace to begin practicing this week. Bynum said then he hoped to debut "right after the All-Star break."
The Sixers will have 31 games left once they return from the break, including 12 at home. Their first game after the break is Feb. 20 in Minnesota. The next game is at home against Miami on Feb. 23.
Bynum said he does not plan to remain in Philadelphia to rehab over the All-Star break.
"Actually, I might go home," he said. "I'm going to go to L.A. for a bit, and then come back ... Sunday and Monday."
Sixers looked like they were lulling the Bucks to sleep then bam they're hit with a 10-1 run.
Lolost again.

Sources tell Fox Sports that the Raptors have "engaged" the Sixers in trade talks centered on Andrea Bargnani.
You left out the most important part:
QuoteThe Raptors continue to talk about Bargnani with anyone that will listen. They'd likely be asking for Spencer Hawes and some change, a deal the offensively-challenged Sixers might have to listen to. If they ever get Andrew Bynum (knee) back, having a true stretch four like Bargnani could conceivably be a good fit. We're sure to hear plenty of more Bargnani rumors as Thursday's deadline approaches.
On the one hand we'd be getting rid of Hawes, on the other hand we'd be stuck with Bargnani until 2015. At least with Hawes he's out of here in 2014. Although in the grand scheme of things does it matter?
big picture it wouldnt mean much but player for player that would be a raping by the sixers....bargnani when healthy is a LEGIT nba scorer

Collins on his post game presser was talking about Lebron and Wade and how they're instinctive running players and that he only has instinctive joggers and that he had an instinctive runner last year obviously talking about Iguodala. Then he talked about this team was supposed to be about brute force obviously talking about Bynum. Thought it was a slight jab at the front office.
They asked him about Bynum coming back soon and he said don't read too much into it. He said he talked to Bynum and he said it felt good to be out there playing again. His whole tone was sarcastic like he knows Bynum is full of shtein.
I was listening to the radio this past week and there are still people who want to give him a max deal. My question to you people is are you farging insane?

Game 7 of this series is probably my favorite Sixers games of all time and this series in general is seriously underrated in terms of its greatness but doesn't get the credit since there was no type of rivalry brewing before or after it.
i went to that game 7 as well as game 1 of that series....great stuff
i dont think it gets the credit as much because...and a lot of people forget this...it wasnt the conference finals...
on top of that the conference finals was also a seven game slugfest where ray allen and ai went head to head....i actually think iverson was more impressive in the milwaukee series because of the hip injury...he completely missed game 2 or 3 and then was hobbled the rest of the way...shouldnt have played game 5 when he only had like 10 pts and they went down 3-2....no one thought they were going to milwaukee and winning much less going to the finals...but the last two games of that series imo were bubba's best ever...somehow he willed in back to back 40 pt games to send them to the finals
game seven of that bucks series is on my short list of best sporting events ive ever been to....ray allen hurt his knee and the sixcers won easily but because of that the last half of the fourth quarter was one big celebration with everyone goin nuts and the whole arena booming out beat la chants
chills
they won game 5 of the ecf...i was there. amazing game. i remember the place going crazy when anthony mason missed the layup and when esnow hit the game winner. they lost 6 in milwaukee, then of course 7 was the shtein.
i also went to game 5 of the raptors series when ai dropped like 54. i think he got his mvp trophy that night. good lord those were farging awesome days.
youre probably thinking of this: they were down 2-1 on the road in both series and had to win 4 to stay alive.
Pretty sure that was Game 1. I was there too and somehow was seated next to Bill Cosby. I'd kill for that place to have that kind of energy again.

I was really optimistic that he'd give them about 50 games this year, especially when he started 60 in a condensed season last year. Seemed like he turned a corner and was willing to play through some pain. Never expected 82 games from him and I figured that if he played well and was reasonably healthy this year that the Sixers would max him out but only get maybe 2 more productive years out of him. I was cool with it though because I figured a semi-healthy Bynum for 3 years gave them 3 pretty legit shots at the Finals. Now that whole spectacle the Sixers put on after the trade is biting them in the ass. They tried showboating like Miami did after getting LBJ and Bosh without acquiring anything near the same type of talent. Shame on me for believing the hype. Public Enemy told me not to.
I'd like to be pissed at Bynum, but the Sixers really only have themselves to blame. They probably didn't realize at the time of the trade that Bynum would not play this year, but they definitely knew it was serious leading up to opening day and they put on a front and told the fans that he'd be fine and expected him back in a week or so. Then it was maybe December. Then by the AS break.
Oh well. If nothing else, this speeds up the tanking process by 1 year. Had they kept Iggy, they'd be a 6-8 seed with a 1st or 2nd round exit and would lose Iggy as a free agent with a 20something pick in the draft. Now they're probably a top 5 lottery team. But aside from that, there's also probably a ? about Collins' future too. Ownership didn't hire him and the team isn't even trying. Do they 86 him at the end of the year or give him a pass due to the lack of talent? Collins has never coached more than 250 games with the same team and he'll be really close to that at the end of the season.
the bigger issue with bynum was always his attitude and desire to play basketball at all...the knee in my eyes was always secondary to that

That's why I thought his willingness to play through some pain last year was a step in the right direction for him. Oh well. Like I said, it gets them a 1 yr head start in the eventual need to rebuild anyway. If they can find a
sucker trade partner for ET this offseason, they'll already be heading in the right direction.
It didn't work out, they need to move on. If they re-sign him they get what they deserve. They're finally clear of the Webber/Brand type deals, there's no reason to make that mistake again. Tank, tank, tank and get some young talent. Develop said talent, keep cap space open, and build your team. It's not like attendance is an issue.
Wonder who the coach will be.
I think Doug's gonna resign.

The Sixers have no one to blame but themselves. It was a high risk/high reward gamble to go after Bynum. Of course it could have easily worked out, and then everyone would have been worshipping Aron. But shtein happens.

You're kind of contradicting yourself here. I'm not playing the race card with you, but most of the reasons you mentioned for not watching the NBA apply to NFL, MLB and NHL.
Too many teams? The NBA has 30 teams, just like the NHL and MLB. And the NBA and NHL have the exact same amount of games a year, which is 1/2 of what MLB plays. So how you can say the NBA has too many teams and plays too many games but not feel the same about NHL or MLB just doesn't make sense. Especially MLB.
Even in the NFL with their non-guaranteed contracts, I think there's still some protection from injury. If AP tore his knee up again today and expected to miss the season, it's not like the Vikings could just cut him and not pay him another dime. And if a team suspects you are malingering, they're probably going to investigate it, especially when they're on the hook for $16mil.
Bynum is definitely aloof, even more so in Philly than he ever was in LA so if you don't like the dude, fine. I don't think you'll get an argument the contrary from anyone here. If the NBA is boring to you, fine. But you're seriously contradicting yourself with all reasons you're giving as to why.
And as far as the "loafing by overpaid, over-indulged spoiled brats" goes, you just described the 1994-2005 Phillies and the 2011-2012 Eagles.

This is probably where you should have started and stopped.
I've come back around to the NBA as a whole. In the 80s and 90s, I thought college ball was almost unwatchable, especially compared to the NBA. 10 or so years ago, I'd have preferred to watch a college game over pro. But the NBA game has gotten so much better over the last decade because the stars have gotten close to being on the same level as they were 20 years ago. LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Durant, KG, Pierce, Rondo, Dirk, CP3, etc, etc. The game is softer now than it was during the NBA's golden era, but the quality of the stars is about as good as it's ever been. The biggest difference today compared to 20 years ago imo is the absence of dominant centers and it's really about the only thing in the league that is really lacking. PG play today is about as good as I can ever remember. The personalities probably don't seem as big, but I think that's just because there's a big difference watching MJ or Magic through the eyes of a child/teenager vs watching LeBron or Durant as an adult. shtein's always better as a kid.
I'll always love and follow the Sixers, but I checked out as an NBA fan after the 2002 Lakers/Kings semi-finals. It was obviously rigged. Sac was a much better team. The 2000 game 7 vs. the Trailblazers with the 20 point comeback was equally awful, but the 2002 semi finals was a blatant farg you from Stern. He wanted the Lakers in the finals, and he got em. I give them zero credit for any of those championships. The only legit one I give them is when they beat the Sixers.
The worst is at the 5:30 mark where Kobe elbows Bibby to the face with the ref standing right there and no call

I grew up with Dr. J, McGinnis, Doug Collins, Lloyd Free... and I still didn't give half a shtein about any of them. As a kid it was Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Big 5 and then if nothing else was on, I'd watch the Sixers. People my age never truly embraced the Sixers and that's why the Spectrum was half-full when they were playing (whereas you could never get a Flyers ticket back then).
That said, if the Sixers had guys with heart like Moses, Doc, (who played his entire pro career with knees as bad or worse than a piece of shtein like Bynum) & Charles Barkley you might have something other than outright apathy on the part of Philly fans.
Not trying to troll it up here and I agree that other pro sports have their malcontents and bums, but the NBA is a joke to me.

Aside from TO, I can't remember the last athlete on one of my teams who I have grown to hate as much as Bynum. If they re-sign him, it would be the most obvious step backward they could make and would do nothing to generate buzz around this team. Seems to me Mr Aron bit off more than he can chew - if this team sucks like this for the next 5 years, him and Harris will be back in NYC turning tricks on Wall St before you can say degenerative knees.
I don't see any way they give Bynum a new contract. I mean, if they could get him for the vet minimum, then fine. It becomes low risk/high reward in the event that he plays. But there's no way that Aron can think that giving Bynum a high dollar contract is going to be anything but an insult to the fan base and enrage them even more than they already are. He's already worked his way into the dog house in less than a year and if he handcuffs the team for the next 5 years with a lucrative contract for Bynum, there very well could be a lynching or just all out abandonment by the fans. I mean, if they actually cake off Bynum after all of this, would any of you either renew season tickets or even go to a single game next year? Would anyone? They'd pull what, a couple hundred in attendance each game?
seeing bynum and nick young giggling on the bench the other night was sickening
Im on the fence w whether or not I am renewing my tix for next year, but one thing is certain - if they resign Bynum, I'm out.
Anyone hear Adam Aron, Sixers CEO on Milkey Miss? Took calls from the fans. Some pissed off people calling in with the usual "I'm done! Hawes sucks! WTF you going to do with Bynum? Kwamie Brown?" He did his best. Kept thinking how sweet would it be to get Lurie to field calls from the fans. Never will happen but sure would be the show of the century.
http://www.crossingbroad.com/2013/03/bynum-spotting-images-of-a-loon-andrew-bynum-at-buffalo-billiards-may-have-threatened-to-kill-a-guy.html
QuoteThe guy I was playing against was quick witted and very sarcastic so someone getting flustered and pissed with him isn't hard to understand. Bynum minded his own most of the night and latched on to two girls from the get-go and stayed with them even through his interesting departure. (Maybe that's part of his ladies closing tactic).
The guy asked if he could take a shot and told the girls and Bynum not to move for a sec so Bynum flicked his stick. The guy turned around and they both laughed and shot one liners back and forth. The dude went to shoot again and Bynum went with the flick move once again. They were still laughing but I did specifically hear the guy say jokingly, "don't make me cross check you like the real sport that wins at Wells Fargo". Neither team is winning so not the best line but still Bynum didn't like it and when he went to shoot for a third time Bynum made a gun out of his fingers and pushed down on his head. The guy said something along the lines of you're really not going to let me finish this game and Bynum said "you wanna play the death game?" Multiple times and said he has his boys and they can go back to his place and play whenever they want. Then he decided to spell out K-I-L-L... Show off. The guy said what do you think my answer is to that? And Bynum threw the glass and squared him up. Good shot if you ask me. He was covered from collar to bottom of chest. The dude did indeed yell stop the music that's the first shot Bynum made in Philly.
And...
I was there last night (my tweet referenced above) and can confirm that Bynum was there alone, and seemed to be going back and forth between 2 different groups of chicks. I was not near the pool table while the confrontation started but as me and my buddy were leaving at like 1:50am we caught the tail end of the argument and basically told Bynum to leave as it wasn't worth it for him. He didn't leave with any girls as someone mentioned in a comment earlier. He walked out with us, and was still really frustrated about those dudes trying to rile him up. As we were half a block away, a drunk blonde chickenhead ran out of the bar and was screaming down the block to him about how he was leaving alone (I suppose implying that no one cared about him and highlighting that he was a loser for coming out by himself). At which point the cops across the street got on their megaphone and told her to grow up and go back inside. Bynum walked with us and then went into a huka bar where he said he knew the owner. Didn't see much wrong doing from the big man, just a couple of guys who thought they were cool talking trash to an NBA player - end of story.
Saw a blurb the other day where DiLeo said Bynum was still "plan A".
And apparently Nick Young is rockin' an Afro-mullet.
What's Plan B?
Something akin to the Johnny Davis years?
id take those again
last time i checked them being horrendous got them AI

this is incredible
they have cap room to resign bynum, add someone in the next offseason, and more than enough time to wait out the heat and become a the best team in the east within 3 years.
if turner or jrue can become a closer its OVA.

lol spencer hawes just took a 7 foot jumper and it hit the top of the backboard
There was a series off offensive boards the 6ers had around 5:30 in the 3rd that was just horrendous. Great that they were getting boards but I think they missed 4 straight put backs from under the rim.
I can't think of anything more infuriating than watching ET try to get free for a shot with the shot clock winding down.
sure there is...just watch his facial expressions after every no call or a couple of missed shots in a row

Or after he fails to wrap up on a foul with less than 30 sec left. Not that they were winning the game, but how can you allow a shot in that situation?
cause hes soft
its the same way he goes to the basket
3.5 out of the 3 spot
believe
Apparently the Sixers were close to a deadline deal with Atl that would have sent Hawes and ET for Josh Smith's expiring contract. Wondering if it was an attempt to clear space to throw a large/max deal to Bynum. If that was the case, then I'm glad it didn't go through.
they have plenty of money to cake off bynum if they wanted to
not that it matters anway as they have his bird rights
the last four possesions of this game are unreal
damien wilkins three
damien wilkins three
arnett moultrie rebound

17 straight for the Heat. I wonder how King Cole is taking it?
you do realize they need to lose
pheonix just beat the rockets in what is a great win for the sixers
awesome game here against the heat
wow- hawes just proved once again what a piece of shtein he is with a wide open missed lay up with 20 sec left
Yeah that guy is the ultimate turd.
He should retire and go into politics since he loves the GOP so much
2 losses back of the 3
instead of whining about spencer hawes you need to be encouraging him to continue sucking so they can get a good draft pick
what a great game that was....the whole game im thinking god i wish they were good so that every night they had this type of crowd and atmosphere for a game that mattered....mr harris please make a winner
i dont know that ive ever been more sickened by any fans more than current heat fans...its one thing to have celtic or laker fans there because theres a decent chance they are a real fan....but these heat fans are the biggest frauds ever and their was a shteinload of them last night

what season - bowling?
Another win against a better opponent. I hate this team.
Why tank when you can be set in mediocrity for another 5-10 years?
That's the thing though.....they shouldn't even have to "tank." They suck and are bad enough to lose these games on their own. They're either overachieving right now, or they're catching their opponents on off nights. Or both. Either way, that shtein needs to stop.

dave and busters season
Right now they're battling Toronto for the 9th pick. They have to pretty much lose every remaining road game (very possible) just to sniff the top 6
Much as I hate to say it I think I'm coming around to the conclusion that they have to sign Bynum.
- They threw away their best player and a shteinload of young talent for him. They are in too deep.
- Center is a farging atrocity on this squad. A healthy Bynum is really exactly what they need. That'll probably never exist, but the prospect is still tantalizing.
- The possibility of watching him succeed somewhere else while the Sixers play for years in the rubble of the team he blew up is a lot to bear, both for the fans and publicity-wise for the team. Even if that possibility is 1%, the Philly factor makes it almost a certainty to happen.
- If he resigns and either doesn't play much or is terrible -- and let's be clear, these are the most likely scenarios -- then the team is utter trash and they should be able to score a couple fantastic lottery balls, which hopefully they will not squander on the Evan Turners of the world.
Signing him helps the tanking process. It reduces their ability to afford decent role players. It probably pushes Collins out if they don't get rid of him anyway. The Sixers will go out and hire a worse coach than Collins because they are the Sixers. If they don't sign Bynum, they go out and hire a few mid-level talents and are mediocre forever. They'll be slightly better than this season. Is that what people want to watch in a superstar league? The Sixers desperately need one electrifying player to generate interest. No better way to tank for that guy than by giving a couple more years to that piece of shtein Bynum.
If they are in any other position, it would be insane to sign Bynum. The man may never play basketball again. But they are in one of those positions where I feel they are kind of trapped by circumstances into putting on the suicide vest. I don't really see the benefit of cutting their losses when what they need is either more losses or a big win.
If they knew for sure the knees are dead, then they should walk away. But his new surgeries will probably prevent them from knowing anything for sure.
He just had (or is getting ready to have) arthroscopic surgery.....which is pretty damn useless for him. It's like vacuuming out your car because the shocks need to be replaced. He needs a cartilage transplant. Recovery time on that is about 6mo, so if he had it done today, he could *cough* potentially *cough* be ready to play by the start of 2013/14.....or shortly after. Yeah, I think I heard that one before.
But yeah, they almost do have to resign him at this point. Like it or not, they're invested in him because they gave up a lot to get him. I'd offer him a 2yr deal with a base salary of like $5mil/year and a boatload of incentives that could drive the annual payout to $10mil.....even more if the team makes the playoffs, etc.
He'd probably laugh at such an offer right now and I'm sure there are teams out there who would pay more than that for him in free agency so I seriously doubt that anything like this would actually happen. If he still wants a max deal or even a deal longer than 2 or 3 years with a lot of guaranteed money, then I won't blame them if they let him walk. But if they can get him to sign a 2 year deal with incentives, then why the farg not? What else are they gonna do? Sign Greg Oden? If I'm forced to pick between injury prone big men, I'll at least take the guy who has been successful on the NBA level.
you all are insane
forget the arthritis.....THE MAN DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE GAME OF BASKETBALL...its a joke to think you would ever start fresh and build a franchise around a pos like him....i cant think of a worse example to fans or players than to want him back
and they didnt give up a lot for him....iguodala was significant but wasnt going to be a sixer next season....dont be fooled by nik vucevic....hes getting numbers on a hideous team....hes not even as good as thad young....and lol at moe harkless
Agreed on IGY....it was a contract swap more or less. And I agree that his passion for the game is lacking. But I think his passion for money is strong and if you can manage to ink him to an incentive based contract, he's much more willing to suck it up and play through some pain. If he wants more than 2 years or more guaranteed money, then he can go farg himself and I'd have no problem with the Sixers letting him gimp away.

why would you want to sign someone who is driven by money?....that means if by some miracle he takes an incentive based deal (not happening) and by a second miracle hes plays at a high level...then you got to sign a guy to a max deal who only cares about money?....makes no sense to me and will def not end well
they made their play and took their shot with that loser...time to get out...not go in deeper

Agreed on giving him a job.
Is he really that bad off now?
I think he's pretty much broke and was recently ordered to pay a shtein load of money to his ex-wife or maybe some random baby mama. I've *heard* that during his playing days he set up some sort of retirement-type account that he can't get to until he's like 50. So I guess he'll have a fat grip when he's older but as far as I know, he's pretty broke right now.

The sad story of AI's fall from grace
i read that in the paper yesterday....on the bright side is that theres no shortage of people willing to help him or things he could do...he just needs to get to a place where hes ready to be helped
From the moment someone realized he could dribble a basketball he's been spoiled and enabled to act like a child. He blew more dough in a decade than most people can dream of having in 10 lifetimes, but we're supposed to shed a tear for him?
Boo farging hoo.
he was doomed from that start of his life
the difference at some point he had to mature and wake up. never happened, never will. hes a lost cause.

I love AI..but I find it hard to give a shtein about a bum who squandered $-50 million away on "keepin it real"...imagine how many hungry mouths he could have fed?
theres a huge gap btwn not feeling bad for him and calling him a bum and an ungrateful dumb stillupfront
i dont feel bad for him and he will always be one of my sports heroes so i will always be for him...at this time i feel sick to my stomach for his current standing...its not fair
he wanted it this way
even michael vick got it...and hes dumber than a republican congressman from the south

Obviously Brown is out of the picture now (which is fine by me), but I'd be happy with Shaw. He probably should have been the Lakers' 1st choice 2 years ago so hopefully their loss in the 6ers gain.
Can't really think of any other intriguing candidates out there unless they want to dip into the college ranks.
