Reaction to last night's SEA/SF betting disaster (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8523891/jim-harbaugh-decision-decline-safety-had-huge-impact-betting-world)

From a football standpoint, the move made complete sense, even though Seattle would've needed two onsides kicks and two scores without any timeouts in under 40 seconds anyway

Post by: ice grillin you on October 19, 2012, 04:10:22 PM
no it wasnt a smart move from a football standpoint....what message board did you get that from?

Alright, let's hear it, igy.

The odds of a player getting injured during a special teams play and an unknown number of subsequent plays has to be far greater than the odds of Seattle somehow winning under either scenario. That alone is justification for the kneeldowns.
Title: Re: Week 7 - 2012
Post by: ice grillin you on October 19, 2012, 07:21:35 PM
there wouldnt have even been a special teams play.....once you are up two scores you dont even have to participate in any onsides kick...take the safety....let seattle recover the onside kick and game over

you dont make it a two score game you could possibly have a miracle in the meadowlands type final...or a greg schiano injury
Title: Re: Week 7 - 2012
Post by: QB Eagles on October 19, 2012, 07:37:21 PM
How is the game over if the Niners let Seattle recover? They would have like 35 seconds left. They'd be running offensive plays. Patrick Willis is flying around out there, exposed to injury. The odds of Seattle winning are super low with all the shtein that needs to occur, but the other scenario requires an even rarer event for Seattle to win.

Near as I can tell no one in NFL history (at least since they let blacks play and the games started counting) has ever recovered the ball from another team's victory formation, which is specifically set up to minimize the odds of losing a fumble. The Miracle at the Meadowlands happened specifically because some dumbass decided not to kneel down.

lol at thinking two scores in the last 43 seconds is possible

fyi - its not

There's no reason to take the 2 points and have to deal with an onsides kick when you could just decline it, kneel the ball down, and win the game.

And maybe Coach Jim made a few bucks betting on Seattle to cover the spread.

ftr i am not saying what he did was dumb....it was just minimally less smart....no matter what they were going to win....but with the safety it was guranteed....the other way a miracle could happen

you have it backwards

though it really doesnt matter because seattle wasnt winning so shut up fairies

I'm finding this hilarious. Every single analyst who has discussed this says that Harbaugh made the right call to seal the victory. Yet, the :CF support group feels the need to talk the permanent contrarian into it.

negative

two scores in 40 seconds < one score in 40 seconds

The correct answer here is that you don't take points off the board, especially in the final 2 minutes of a 1 score game.  I think Harbaugh was probably just letting his defense know he had faith in them after giving up like 26 pts the week before.

pretty much....i dont get how everyone doesnt see this...yes we are all being nerds for even discussing it but come on.....how do you not end the game with points

Brees has 4 TDs and over 300 yds passing in the 1st half

Would like to see this BAL/HOU game get switched to TEN/BUF.  21-20 at the half and Chris Johnson has over 130 yds rushing

heres an nfl betting tip

anytime the steelers are giving just 1 to a team that lost to cleveland, you take them

the eagles lose to these teams. the steelers dont even though their team is old.

I think if the Eagles and Lions played 100 times, they'd win 50.

Also, the Bears look complete.
