It's not hate, you dipshtein.  You can't pull that sort of immature bullshtein on the field.  It's inexcusable playground grade school flagry.  Period.

settle down elder...it was a titantically dumb play but it has nothing to do with al michales right wing hawk type zealotry hatred of pimp

two different things we are talking about

You're much more of a left wing zealot than I am a right one.   Never actually criticized pimp on this board but his stupid drive killing shtein is wearing thin.

Naturally they'll keep it close, make it long, and then lose in the last seconds or OT at like 12:32, just to make me miss the beginning.

Say what you want about the offensive line, they're actually much better right now then they were in the preseason/week 1. Not that they're really good or anything, but yeah.

The safety's are playing up every other play in anticipation of a Shady run. Jackson has to get one sooner or later here.

settle down with the barry sanders stuff

the main tangible difference btwn westbrook and shady and what seperates a guy like westbrook from most nfl players is he had that extra burst when he got the open field that allowed him to run away from people and score...what the nerds call "game speed"

shady can hit long runs and will occasionally pop one for a td but he doesnt put the fear into defenses that he can go the distance at any time...youll notice shady as he did monday nite alot of times will try to use an angle to get to away from defenders and towards the sideline

when 36 got in the open field he used to shortest path btwn two points and bursted for scores...shady doesnt have that

nice to have a qb that can see over the line.

igy?

it certainly helps...altho i wish the eagles had a black qb who didnt throw from a sidearm angle

You really think people are going to start buying back in now? I mean, people who aren't brain damaged?

yes

without even lookin i know right now the emb is chock full of playoff scenarios that get them in at 10-6....especially with cutler's injury.

with dallas maybe winning the nfc east now and juanny buying time this win was probably bad

Of course he is.  He eats most defenses alive.  But I fully expect the Eagles to put up a bunch of points as well.

This game is shaping up to be the most epic battle of white receivers since 1953.

its not even brady its whats ne's strengths are offensively....two great te's and a sick slot wr...i also expect kevin faulk to have a hello i still play football game with like 11 catches

not that the eagles are especially good at defending anything but what plays into their style is to have one or two outside threats who run simple routes

the pats have all slot and seam guys who rely on timing routes and ridic accuracy from their qb...i cringe even thinking about the eagles stopping that kind of attack

the five 4th quarter losses is so infuriating.

5 times you worked to get a lead for 3 quarters only to give it away.  not saying that they are really a winning record team or anything, but when the miss the playoffs there are a handful of plays that you will think back to

ok...im my own worst enemy for doing this but just whatever

giants sked left: @ no, vs. gb, @ dal, vs. wsh, @ nyj, vs. dal
cowboys sked left: vs. mia, @ ari, vs. nyg, @ tb, vs. phi, @ nyg

so they need the giants to lose twice (lock) and dallas to lose once other than to the eagles (lock)

so i mean if the eagles win out (which they wont) they would win the nfc east.

i think it was because the giants were also penalized on the play...in essence the pimp penalty was never assessed....it was offsetting and the down was played over

doesnt make sense

what about after a touchdown. they assess a taunting or any personal foul on the kickoff

why wouldnt they do the play over and wipe the td away then?
Title: Re: Miracle At The Meadowlands IV: Giants Game Thread
Post by: ice grillin you on November 21, 2011, 12:56:23 AM
i dont see the issue....the next play doesnt start when pimp runs out of bounds....it starts when the ball is snapped...so when he taunted it was still part of that individual play....the same play where the giants got illegal contact...thus offsetting

where i think its uneven is in the severity of the penalties...for example the offense could have an illegal motion and the defense could have the latest hit of all time that put a guy out for the season and the rule treats them equally

Quote from: reese125 on November 21, 2011, 12:53:05 AM

because a score is treated differently...once you cross the goal line its a new play...just like you cant fumble in the end zone...once you are in everything is a clean slate

from the NFL rulebook:

Quote14-1-9: FOUL AND DEAD BALL FOUL
Article 9 If there has been a foul by either team during a down and there is a dead ball foul by the other
team in the action immediately after the end of the down, it is a double foul, and all rules for enforcement
of double fouls apply (see 14-3-1).

14-3-1: DOUBLE FOUL WITHOUT CHANGE OF POSSESSION
Article 1 If there is a double foul (3-11-2-c) without a change of possession, the penalties are offset and
the down is replayed at the previous spot. If it was a scrimmage down, the number of the next down and
the necessary line is the same as for the down for which the new one is substituted.

the o-line was so horrendous then. not saying young doesnt have the escape ability, but nowhere near as close as vick. young would have taken a lot of hits or at the very least rushed his poor ass throwing motion due to pressure, and his ints would be league leading.

his mechanics suck and arm strength are so bad its painful to watch, but crazy enough the farger wins games. some people just have it in them. we know damn sure mcnabb and vick do not.

I'm through with the Vick era. Seen it done it--its not going anywhere. You either have it in you to win late in games or you dont. Since the majority of nfl games are won with 6 minutes to go in the 4th--yeah sure Id go with Young---this is all of course your d can hold up.

I'd like to see one more start out of him but I have no problem with it.  Once he got settled in I thought he played fine.  Two of his INTs weren't really on him, Cooper trips and the one that looked like it bounced off Harbor's noggin as he was being molested by the defender.  One more week of reps with the regulars should really help him.  Echoing Reese, I'm just about over the Vick era.

Title: Re: Miracle At The Meadowlands IV: Giants Game Thread

I was watching 1st & 10 on ESPN this morning when Skip Bayless made the remark that Young would be a better fit to start for the Eagles than Vick. At first I was probably just like you—I just shook my head and changed the channel. However, as I continued to think about it and looked up a few stats, I actually think he might have a point.

Let's start with Vince Young. As a die-hard Tennessee Titans fan I will tell you up front that I am a huge Young supporter. Young got drafted by an organization that treated him very poorly and had to go into a system with a coach that honestly didn't want him. I loved Jeff Fisher, but he never gave Young a chance. Fisher wanted Matt Leinart, Bud Adams wanted Young. The owner always wins that battle.

Young won 63 percent of his starts with the Tennessee Titans, finished his career in Nashville with a record of 30-17 and won the Rookie of the Year award in his first season.

Vick didn't win the ROTY award; he barely played his first season (don't worry I have a few more reasons). Young was thrown right into the system, Vick got to sit and watch a little (although he did play in eight games his first year). Vick's career record is not that impressive, either. He is 37-31-1 in his career. For those of you keeping track at home, that's 53 percent. Young has a better winning percentage.

Young has been in the league for five seasons now. He has been elected to two Pro Bowls over the course those years and suffered though a few injuries while he did it. In Vick's first five seasons, he made three Pro Bowls. They both had injury problems in their first few seasons; running quarterbacks never stay healthy through a whole year.

During the first five seasons of Michael Vick's career, he played in 58 games and had a touchdown-interception count of 51-38. Don't try to tell me that's amazing, because it's not for an NFL quarterback. Young's ratio is 42-42. They both throw a lot of interceptions.

My favorite stat is the one I was the most surprised about. Young has been routinely criticized for his completion percentage over both the course of his college and NFL career. I swear I heard Merril Hoge torch Young week after week over the fact that he wasn't an NFL QB because his completion percentage was so low. Young has sported a completion percentage of 57.9 percent over the course of his career.

Vick's career completion percentage is 55.3 percent. I don't hear anyone criticizing Vick, though.

I don't believe in the quarterback rating system, but it is a stat that is thrown around a little bit. Vick's quarterback rating for his career is 80.2. Young's rating is 75.7. Don't try to tell me that's a huge difference, because it isn't. According to most analysts and fans, Michael Vick is an elite NFL quarterback, but his rating doesn't show that. Take a look at Peyton Manning's rating of 94.9 if you want to see an elite quarterback.

Everyone also claims that Young is not a leader. He definitely proved that he wasn't in Tennessee and that was what really led to his release. He had that whole issue with the suicide thing, walking out of team meetings along with throwing his pads into the stands after games. He was a franchise player who certainly didn't act like one. He was very immature for his age. I think Vick had some off-field issues himself, though.

After looking at some of these numbers and points, I hope people might start to realize that Young is not that different at all from Vick. They have very similar numbers and issues as quarterbacks in the NFL. I can understand if you still think Vick is a quarterback, but it's closer than you think. If you don't believe me than just watch the Eagles play football this season because there is no way Vick will start all 16 games this year.

Young is going to get his chance whether you want him to or not, and as a kid that watched him his whole career, I can tell you he's not that bad. Some might even say he's on Michael Vick's level. Thanks Skip.

Anyone who thinks Vince Young is a better fit than Vick after one showing needs to get your head checked. The Eagles attempted 36 passing plays and 33 rushing. They reverted back to what made them successful this season w Vick. They balanced the offense. Vince still threw 3 INT's. Two in the end zone. The Giants couldn't do shtein all game and never capitalized on the turnovers. If the defense didn't play as well as it did this game was over by along shot. I'm telling you balance the offense out and this team has a chance every week. Its up to the coaches here on out and of course the players to step up big when they need to, but I put this mostly on the play callers. I loved the fact that the run game really wasn't working, but they kept going at it and keeping the Giants honest. It wasn't pretty but, it was balanced and the defense was fresh all game because of it.

vince wasnt kidding..its his dream team when hes qb'ing--ha.

listen, I dont think anybody here is going to take one game/win with vince young and expect a qb controversy. its mostly out of jest because we know it wont happen, but you cant deny the fact that you have a 6'5 guy standing tall in the pocket (not one batted ball), working with the riley cooper and chad halls of the world while jackson was bottled up, who doesnt run around at the first sign of pressure, and delivered when it mattered. Its not an aberration, the guy has heart in the 4th q of games which we havent seen as fans in what---12-13 years?

now watch what happens with vick--blitz after blitz after blitz. the giants played back majority of the night to let young beat them--prob one of the biggest reasons he held onto the ball so long, but yet he and the d got the w. Im buying a #9 jersey.

If the D can somehow play like they played against the Giants, maybe they don't blow anymore 4th quarter leads.

I wish he made better decisions and he doesn't have a big arm but I agree he does have talent. He made some beautiful throws in traffic which went largely unnoticed.

Also, when a guy is starting his first game in over a season and you have one of the leagues leading rushers in the backfield you should establish the run to assist him. He didn't get that benefit as Reid threw the ball something like 9 out of the first 11 games.

maybe he refuses to do it but i cant believe no one has changed his arm slot...how is he still throwing the ball sidearm or 3/4...hed have so much more behind his throws...he looks like a big black ty detmer for god sakes

They've tried in the past, and it failed miserably and his delivery went back to the sidearm.  The advantage for him is his height, where the sidearm isnt such a detriment.  But I am surprised Marty and Andy haven't pushed it.  Gannon is really one of the only sidearm qb's who i can remember having success.  And his sidearm wasnt 100% of the time.

its a detriment because it prevents him from making throws that are needed in the nfl...and ive never seen him try it in a game...im betting when he was the man in tennessee he refused to do it and the titans gave up trying...maybe if the eagles have him for more than this year andy and marty will work on it in the offseason since hes now playing for his nfl career

No he didn't.

I figured igy was dropping some college knowledge on us from VY's college days while getting his MA schools confused.  But yeah, there it is right in the middle of the post...."titans."  Sometimes I don't read good.

They should scrap the long throws they were doing with VY, Desean has his guy beat twice and he couldn't put enough air under it to get it to him.
