just automatically place the ball on the 20 after a score/half because this shtein with touchbacks is horrendous.

Randall Cobb says you're being overly dramatic.

Exciting end to that game, but the last play was disappointing and predictable. Bottom five, all time?

Horrible call.  Packers had that read all the way.  What a start to the season!

AJ Hawk looked like Super Fly Snooka coming off the top turn buckle on the PI call in the end zone.

-- Newton has 315 yds passing in 3 quarters, breaking Peyton's record for most by a rookie in their first NFL game.  Carolina is beating the Kolbs in the desert

-- SD lost Kaeding on the opening kickoff, so they've had no kicker for the whole game.  Their punter just kicked a FG

Patrick Peterson just returned a punt for a TD

Newton over 400 yds passing and the Panthers are 10 yds away from tying it late.  This game is amazing

Falls 1 yd short of converting the 1st down but ties Stafford for a rookie passing record in any week

better to use his jersey number, but solid nick name. Way better than the hideousness you've bestowed upon Asomugha.

I saw a clip on CSN of him visiting firehouses the other day too

i remember when 300 yards was a great day for a quarterback and would make headlines....shtein has been watered down so bad by the pro offense attitude of the league...now if you dont get 300 you had an off week

bedwetter threw for 39.....lol

The Pats didn't want to play him. Injuries forced him into action.

Seriously, your alarmist attitude about this stuff is sometimes just confusing.

So you're saying that the Pats draft better depth than the Eagles do starters?

YES!

But seriously, I don't think Solder played great or anything. And I don't know how good/bad Watkins would look in there. My assumption is that Reid/Mudd felt giving the fireman his first two NFL starts in unfriendly dome environs was not a good way to give him confidence. I think he will be in the starting lineup after the bye.

At least the Pats drafted him ahead of the Eagles pick. Had they drafted afterwards it would be down right comical.

but really can it get more comical than drafting a 27 year old canadian firefighter whos a beginner at football

That depends....does Watkins dress up like a clown and do birthday parties?

And I'm not even close to being as down on the guy as you are and I hope that the guy turns into a player. But for the Pats to move up in the draft and take a guy who was intended to be OL depth and watch him play a very good game against a good pass rusher just pisses me off to no end. But the Eagles are "all in."

Don't mention the "beginner at football" thing again, unless you want to put away your rager for JPP and latch onto Graham.

It's ironic that a few of you are gobbling all over the draft picks of New England, when a lot of Pats fans have been highly critical of NE's past five drafts or so.
Title: Re: Week One 2011
Post by: General_Failure on September 14, 2011, 08:59:15 PM
I'd be critical, too, if the Eagles had gone from winning the Superbowl three out of four years to not making or losing it. I'd blame the rookies, the free agent signings, the assistant coaching purge, IGY, MDS, Lurie, and secretly myself for not believing in them hard enough.

You'd think they'd have learned something in the ten years the Patriots have been relevant.
