Vince Young going to Eagles as backup to Vick. Now two first-rounders (top 3) at same spot
Not sure how I feel about this.
Why? He has talent and will be a backup. Maybe they can groom him and ship him off. I'd rather have a young guy with some upside then some veteran journeyman.
Homer Simpson: "Mmmmmm.....wildcat"
Yes! Both on the field at the same time... With KAFKA at QB! HOW THE farg DO YOU DEFEND THAT?!?

At this point Young is a veteran journeyman. But that's all the Eagles need.
I like it. Coming to the birds knowing his role is the backup might get his head back on straight.

I like the athleticism and upside, sure. I don't like the fact he's a bonehead and half-wit. Seems like his feelings get hurt easily. Imagine him after a rough stretch and getting eaten alive by media and the fans....
Or he'll throw the last shred of his career away in an entertaining fashion. Win/win.

I wouldn't necessarily call a guy who's about to join his second team a journeyman.

Just imagine when it's opening day, and they line him up wide left to confuse the defense. They'll never know what hit them.
If they do that, guaranteed Vick and Young both blow out their knees on that play. Bring in the Kafka era.

Vince Young - WR - #10
They signed him to replace Pimp who they'll unceremoniously cut via singing telegram.
Is this legit?
I don't think it is just yet
Clark changed his wording already

just to make things clear: Nothing official with VY but looks like he's going to Philly
Apparently not. Way to jump the gun, Clarke.
Yeah, I see he put "seems" in the headline of his blog.

From "going" to "would be a nice fit if they sign him"
watch him wear number 5
some hilarious Twitter comments of this ilk:
-Good fit. Emotionally fragile athlete and Philly fans... Let's see how this plays out!
-Young fits the need for a quarterback that can vomit in the huddle.
etc
I love the move..if for nothing else because he shined in the greatest college game I've ever seen.
if he can keep his head on straight and play well in the 2-3 games hell start when vick inevitably gets injured, then swap him for a 2nd rounder and XXXXX, itll be a good deal
thats basically what this is

Oh yeah, that was a great game no doubt.
Funny that Charlie Casserly passed on Young and Bush for Mario; which was right, and got shtein canned for it
I was at that draft..the few Saints fans there were ecstatic
done deal
1 year

I was dead tired and somehow fell asleep halfway thru the 2nd quarter. I woke up at like 3am and still haven't forgiven myself.
I like the move ok but don't know if he can do well as a wco QB or not. VY needed to go to a place as a backup, with low expectations and sit quietly behind a mentally tough leader he could learn from. It could bring out his potential.
Add another layer to the 'if somebody told me 3 years ago...' Eagles QB scenario. Who would have believed back then they'd have on the roster an emotionally fragile but athletically gifted QB. Wait, nm.
Schefter is saying that he is still on waivers and cannot talk to teams until he clears them. This happens tomorrow.
So I can see it now...tampering charge?
Technically, I don't believe it's tampering if a player's agent approaches another team, just vice versa, which could be the case.
I thought players with at least 4 years of experience weren't subjected to waivers.....?
QuoteI don't want to discourage this talk because I totally recognize the humor in it, but if the Eagles signed him to be a backup I would be totally fine with it. He would finally be exactly what he should be. A backup QB who might maybe someday get a chance to start if he works really hard and figures out how to play.
Edit - wow. That's what happens when you login at 5:00 AM. Nice quote job, bonehead.

Yeah I don't get it either, unless there was a change in the new labor deal. This coming season will be Young's sixth.

I think you're mistaking Joe and Howie with criminals who actually leave evidence.
Anyway, 4pm today is when Rusty goes head-first off that oddly high overpass south of Richmond.
Good move. I am ok with the backup being mobile enough to get out of the pocket once it collapses...in 3 seconds. farg the oline :boom
The one year deal doesn't make much sense. Two year deal would have been the way to go.
That is exactly what I thought
Fantastic.
This is the kind of news I've been hoping to come home to all week.
Already home at 4pm? Taking a half day or something?
Also, the deal isn't actually official yet and may just end up a 2-year johnson. Wouldn't doubt the boys with calculators are pushing hard for it.
It's a hundred degrees. We decided we had done enough at 2 and left.
Hire slaves if you want people to work in this.
Simmer down and drink a gallon or two of agua, amigo.
I'm sure it's just GM speak but Howie is saying Young to the Eagles isn't a done deal...yet
Pretty sure the Eagles are feverishly working this to take Pence out of the headlines.
And I win. Tamari says Young deal is now done.
up to $5.5M w/ incentives
I can't wait for the Vick as mentor to Young articles.

Tony Dungey is already on it!
There's another Parent of the Year.
Wearing #9 to honor McNair, and in his press conference today he said he came to Philly because of Reid. He also said he hoped he could help the Eagles win "the national championship"...
Those come with parades too, right?
Sure, why not.
Where the farg is this loser at??
Maybe the guy that's been impersonating Vince Young in Manayunk and scamming people for his charity can come play backup for the Eagles?
he injured his hammy in one of the final preseason games. its vince young though.. so like.. who cares anyway.

Well, if VY is still hurt it would be nice to have more than 1 healthy qb.
7th round pick to Minny for McNabb.

Having a backup qb when Vick has a broken hand is something to worry about. Good prediction on the blow out.

Yeah, we have Kafka...and no one else, so how farging important is Vince Young now? Ha! Igy's post was at 11:45 pm after a game in which Vick breaks his hand. Hawk looks like Hawkins next to you. Get sober you drunken DC government working farg.
I'm with IGY. Game was over regardless of who came in, Kafka practiced with the first team all week, whatever...
That said, Young will start against the Niners.

Hersey Hawkins was a great basketball player, but I doubt he's in Mensa.
A 6'5 Vince Young would much better at falling into the endzone than a 6'0 mushy brain Vick.
