OK, now he's really an Eagle. Him and whomever they pick with the extra 2012 2nd round draft pick.

So, is it the money Kolb got that you find insane, or that Banner Inc actually got a starting CB and a (likely early) 2nd round pick back for him?
Title: Re: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: ice grillin you on July 28, 2011, 03:00:55 PM
both...but more the money...

the money he got would lead you to believe the guy is already a good qb

the trade that was made would lead you to believe that the cards hope hes gonna be a good qb

Of note is that DRC is under contract through 2012 for ~$1 million per.

How can anyone not like this deal? A backup QB for an above average CB and a 2nd? If Nnamdi wasn't available, I think we'd all be doing cartwheels.

I know I was down on DRC from the onset, but thinking about this, its a very good deal.

...almost twice as much, in fact.

Also, get ready for the new company line:
-the Eagles value DE and CB more than any other positions on defense
-the Eagles are starting Pro Bowlers at both DE spots and both CB spots
-you can shut the farg up if that isn't good enough, because they farging say so

Even if he's average, that's still a hell of an improvement over last year. Not the best they could have done for that position, but the best they could do for unloading Kolb. If they wind up using that draft pick on a corner because DRC isn't playing well enough, then it was still probably a good deal.

Awesome haul for Kolb.  Now find another safety and some linebackers and we might have a defense.

The thing that really gives me pause on this deal is that the Eagles could have signed Asomugha or Johnathan Joseph without trading anybody. DRC is younger and cheaper than either of them, but they could have filled the need with arguably a better player on the open market.

BUT WAIT!! You all think that Reid and Roseman are idiots. So, which is it? Does DRC suck worse than last years corners. did 2 idiots get lucky on a deal or maybe they aren't so dumb after all?

If you think Joseph is better than DRC, you need a better vision plan.

I'll have to cool it on the schtick. Even the natives can't read it anymore.

But seriously, are the Eagles still in the mix for Asomugha?

They could have held onto him then tagged him at the end of the season. No way they were just going to let him go for nothing. The compensation may not have been as high but they still would have saved face.

I used too but if the thread is on the same page it was from the last time I checked I know it's just an update. Once he signs I figure that thread will go from 99 pages to 104 in under 10 minutes.

Yeah but in order for him to accept that rate, the Eagles had to tell him goodbye.  Had they tried to resign him, his number would surely have been greater.
