That would be a big fat no to all of you. This league can die of AIDS for all I care and I'm certainly not going to put any more effort in than absolutely necessary.

Dio's Ragged Company

Philip Rivers (SD - QB)

LeGarrette Blount (TB - RB) ('10 Rookie)
Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG - RB)
Reggie Bush (NO - RB)
Frank Gore (SF - RB)
Brandon Jacobs (NYG - RB)
Rashad Jennings (Jac - RB)
Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB)

Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR)
Kevin Walter (Hou - WR)
Mike Williams (TB - WR) ('10 Rookie)
Andre Johnson (Hou - WR)

Chris Cooley (Was - TE)

Adam Vinatieri (Ind - K)

New England (NE - DEF)

If you don't have a decent rookie to retain before we have to declare our keepers, drop me a line.  Both Blount and Williams are worth keeping and I likely won't keep both.

That being said, trades in this format are not usually very worthwhile.  To wit:

As it stands now, my keepers will probably be:

Rivers
Gore
Jones-Drew
Fitx
Johnson
TE/K/D -- meh, I'll keep on of 'em just to avoid having to draft at that position
Blount or Williams

So basically, I'm set.  I don't need to trade and I'm not going to trade unless I get something back which unseats one of my probable keepers.  There's no reason for me to trade you Blount in return for a guy I can't keep because the rest of my team is so awesome.

I will however def. consider trading for draft picks.

p.s.  I own this farging league:

2010 Champ
2009 Champ
2008 Runner up
2007 4th place
2006 Champ

Contrary to popular belief, rocket science is relatively easy compared to anything else.

Yahoo fantasy, and yahoo in general has always, always given me headaches. Nothing is in the same place. Everything is always farging switched up. It's like they don't want me to have a nice day or something.

I laugh at you people who don't have at least one semi-promising rookie from last year on your team.  It's a free spot if you would just bother to pick up a rookie at the end of the season.

Not doing so will give the top rated player(s) to the person(s) who don't have rookies to keep. Confer with your smart friends, they'll tell you not giving the non-rookie having teams somebody like Darnell Autry is stupid. Then they won't associate with your dumbass anymore

Any of these 3 will work.

Go to the Yahoo! fantasy football home page by clicking the "Football '11" icon.

Go to "Draft Central" to view the count down timer.

Go to the :CF league home page and click on any team's name.  This shows you the timer and gives you the actual date/time of the draft.

I'm stupid for obvious reasons.

Mark Ingram, and Gronkowski are my shining moments.

I was looking at an outdated FF rookie sheet...no mention of torn ACL. Otherwise, I'm taking Julio Jones or Matt Forte. I was discouraged by the time you took Finley.

But, F it, Brandon Jacobs may be a point provider as my 3rd WR/RB. Jonathan Stewart will be sittin there waiting incase Deangelo goes down.

Yeah man - i was close to starting steve smith over santonio but went with him because Terence Newman was out and Mike Jenkins is a softy.

But I always catch the shaft when I have great weeks. In my $$ league I dropped 114pts. Everyone else in the league was in the 70s and 80s (non-ppr)...except my opponent who also put up 114. Tiebreaker is most points by a QB and he had Brees and I have Schaub

Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Diomedes on September 30, 2011, 01:27:56 PM
I'll give you a fourth for Brees.

Anything more than that is crack crazy in an 8 team league where you can't keep two QBs, unless one of them happens to be a rookie.  We've all got good starting QBs and decent backups.

If I were you, I'd talk to Poop Bandits.  He's got Cam Newton and Matt Ryan.  You might be able to talk him into a trade for Brees that would allow him to upgrade from Ryan to Brees and still keep the promising rookie on his roster.  Plus, he's kinda dumb.

I don't know that Brees will be a great enough upgrade for anyone else to dump they guy they have now PLUS a draft pick.

Like I said, I'd give a fourth just to have the nice problem at the end of the year of deciding between Rivers and Brees.  But I'm fine with Rivers and a second tier guy too.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: rjs246 on September 30, 2011, 01:34:19 PM
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you a bit there, sparky.

In a franchise league like this one, a 4th round pick is basically reserved for the 11th-12th best player on your team. Backups, sleepers, second/third tier guys go in the fourth round. Brees would very clearly be one of the top four or five players on any fantasy team. Put it this way, if I drop him in the offseason and keep Stafford, is there any chance that he isn't grabbed in the first round? I mean, give me a break.

So, um, no thanks on the 4th rounder.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11

Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: rjs246 on September 30, 2011, 02:05:58 PM
Out of curiosity I checked this year's 4th rounders:

1. Austin Collie
(Ind - WR) Sour Krauts  -  Clearly not a starting calibre fantasy WR.
2. Rob Gronkowski
(NE - TE) Poop Bandits  -  Tight End.
3. Matthew Stafford
(Det - QB) Astroglide  -  Great pick, but obviously a question mark before the season.
4. BenJarvus Green-Ellis
(NE - RB) CharlieSheen...  -  Ha. No.
5. Percy Harvin
(Min - WR) VaticanAssas...  -  Brainmush.
6. Dallas Clark
(Ind - TE) Astroglide  -  Tight End.
7. Jimmy Graham
(NO - TE) Philadelphia...  -  Tight End.
8. Kenny Britt
(Ten - WR) Dio's Ragged...  -  Potential starter but a fringe fantasy WR.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Diomedes on September 30, 2011, 02:49:13 PM
Since Brees is a top five QB, you're looking for a first round pick?  Second round?  I can see how the guy who is trying to trade Brees might think that's a fair price, but there are only 8 teams in the league, so everyone has a great to very good starting QB.  This means that anyone who trades with you for Brees is giving up a trade pick AND a great/very good QB (assuming Brees is acquired in order to be retained), because he can't keep both.

Do you really think Brees is worth dumping a player like Vick or Ryan and giving up a first round pick?

If this were a 12 team league and rosters weren't as stacked, I think you'd have better chances of picking up a high round pick.  But every team in this league is stacked.

Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Diomedes on September 30, 2011, 02:50:06 PM
Also..Britt was a great pick and was proving it until the injury.  Dick.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: rjs246 on September 30, 2011, 03:16:20 PM
Ha. Kenny Britt. Pffft.

I fully understand your point about Brees and the small league, and if no one is willing to give up a high pick for him I'll just keep him and make a decision in the offseason. But if anyone wants a guaranteed point machine and has an iffy QB situation that they'd like to shore up for a few years to come he's here for the taking. Players like Vick (injuries, possibly not that good, sorry homers) and Ryan (a winner but not a huge stats guy) have very obvious risks associated with them from a fantasy football perspective. Brees essentially has none.

Brees won me my game in this league and lost me my game in my other money league. Which is why I am finally coming to realize that fantasy football is farging stupid. I'm in four leagues which means that I'm literally rooting for and against every player every week. Pointless.

Also, four of my players (Ray Rice, Ryan Torain, Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Decker) have combined for 4.7 points and I've still scored 109+ with Rice yet to play.

Killing this league.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Sgt PSN on October 24, 2011, 12:45:34 PM
It certainly didn't help any that McFadden got hurt early in the game (.7 pts) and I guess Lynch didn't even play, so I took a goose egg from him.  Pretty sad when your opponent has a player who finishes with negative points and you still lose.  I left some points on the bench, but even if I had played the highest scoring guys this week, I still would have taken a loss.  My only hope is that the Jags defense somehow holds Rice to -240 yds rushing.  It could happen!

Next week is the end of my gauntlet for the year though with the Packers bye so hopefully my team will get back to scoring like it was through the first 3 or 4 weeks of the year.

You're hardly finished.  The reg season is 14 weeks, so you've got plenty of time to recover.  Not to mention that Phreak finished 7-7 last year, made the playoffs and lost to you in the championship.  In 2008 there were 2 teams in the playoffs who finished 7-7.  When I won in 2005 I also finished 7-7.  So yeah, you still have life.

Let me guess, you expect someone to drop an obvious keeper, plus a high draft pick, to add another obvious, and possibly better, keeper?

That adds up.

THawk and I have just negotiated a monster.

THawk gets: (QB) Drew Brees, (WR) Mike Wallace
RJS gets: (WR) Anquan Boldin, 2012 draft picks in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds.

I'm posting it here first so everyone can see that there are draft picks involved. Plan to do it on Yahoo later today.

Is Thawk's awesome hat on too tight or something?  I've got no objections to the trade, mostly because Rusty is going to have to cut half of his draft picks next year just to make the roster limit.

So THawk had a brain fart and never completed the trade acceptance on yahoo. He has requested that I bypass the veto process and update the rosters directly. I'm happy to do that but wanted to give the other league members the opportunity to call bullshtein here first. If the league objects to bypassing the veto opportunity we'll let the trade process for next week.

Ready go.

LOL @ my team this week.  Half of Sunny's roster was either on a bye or out with injury and barring a 30+ point night from Brady tomorrow, I will take the most embarrassing loss in fantasy history.  Even if Brady scores enough for me, it's still embarrassing.

Maybe a change of scenery will help!!
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Diomedes on November 27, 2011, 05:16:46 PM
Okay.  My sucky players:

week one roster:

Larry Fitzgerald (k):  no WR help opposite him to draw away defenders so he's always double teamed.  lousy QB.  no running game to pull safeties in.  in fantasy though, you have to start him every week...he's Larry Fitzgerald

Frank Gore (k): hot/cold, injured...but he's Frank Gore and so you gotta start him.  Even on winning team this year, he's not been consistent enough to say he's a stud.  he's a legacy stud.  still...go ahead and bench him in favor of who...(I'll get to that later)

Andre Johnson (k):  hurt all goddamn year

Phillip farging Rivers (k):  2011 Turnover King....an outright liability but like the others on my team, so hard to just let go because he's usually so money

Legarrate Blount (k,r); opens the year with few carries, doens't do much with what he gets, gets injured....by the time he started doing anything I was f'd.

MJD (k):  no complaints

of the players I drafted...

Jermichael Finley:  on or off.  had one huge game, a couple good games, and the rest he's been a total non factor.
Kenny Britt: looked great then busted hisself
Fred Jackson:  grand slam of the year for me..but couldn't make up for the rest of this zesty team..I actually cut him before it was announced that he was done for the year because by that point I was done and I wanted to stock up on rookies in case any of them turn out to be worth using my rookie tag on.  He was slowing down before he got hurt anyway...and what was I gonna do, keep him?  Instead of Gore or MJD?  No way.
Cedric Benson  -- lots of carries, no points.  suspension.  lots more carries, and finally at this point in the season, scoring some points...he was of no help to me
Brandon Lloyd --- worthless in Denver and cut trying to find someone to plug behind Johnson & Britt....whoever it was, it was a failed attempt..and of course now he's in a much better situation..still even if I had managed to hang onto him, what would I have done, kept him instead of Fitz or Johnson?  total wiff on Lloyd.
Santana Moss --- this isn't a PPR league and he got hurt.  I don't know when I dropped him but he wasn't worth drafting in the first place.
Josh Freeman -- another wasted pick.

I lost three games by less than three points...two of them by less than one.

zesty year, but oh well, it ain't easy to three-peat

which of my sucky players do you want?

So I'm killing time by dicking around on our keeper league page and I clicked on the "Toyota Fantasy Football Hall of Fame" in the top right corner of the league home page.  I've noticed it this year but never opened it, so I figured I'd see what it was about.  I wish I hadn't looked.  They're actually putting together a HOF for fantasy nerds and they have 10 guys up there from random yahoo! leagues.  These guys actually wrote essays and recorded videos telling why they should be elected to the HOF.  Is this a new thing or have they been doing it for a while now and I just never noticed?

Anyway, the point is that it's harder to cite a bigger example of why breeding should be strictly regulated than these clowns.

This season has some head scratching shtein going on.

Dio has lost 2 games by less than 1 point combined.  I don't think I've ever seen 1 game end with less than a 1 point difference, let alone 2....in the same year.....by the same guy.

Chuggie has the worst fantasy roster I've ever seen and might beat the 1st place team twice in the same year.  And why did he waste roster spots on Peyton Manning and Delone Carter all year?

Philly Crew traded away Matt Forte for draft picks and a rookie keeper who isn't worth starting right now and went on a 3 (about to be 4) game winning streak to pull himself out of the basement and get a solid grip on a playoff spot.

I think my team is being coached by Andy Reid this year.  I'm 6-1 (soon to be 7-1) vs teams with a sub .500 record and 1-3 vs teams above .500.  This might not bode well for me in the playoffs.

It's a keeper league where we keep on rookie each year, so my bet would be that he intends to retain Peyton and Carter for next year.
Title: Re: Keeper League '11
Post by: Sgt PSN on November 28, 2011, 06:00:27 PM
I get that....but you could drop Manning in September and pick him up on waivers in week 16 if you want to keep him.  Does he really have keeper value at this point?

Chuggie is in an interesting spot with his rookies though since he has 3 on his team - Newton, Carter, Ingram.

He could keep Newton as his QB next year and drop Manning.  Then he could keep Ingram over Jacobs as a RB keeper which still frees up his rookie spot for Carter.  He could be set for years if Ingram and Carter turn out to be any good.

Chuggie would have to win his last 2 and either Sunny or PC would have to lose their last 2 in order for him to have a shot at getting in.  I think the tie breaker is points scored, correct?  Chuggie has the advantage over PC but is still behind Sunny in total points.

Only 2 spots left bitches.  FIGHT!

Title: Re: Keeper League '11

Also, here's some sweet irony.

Rusty traded Drew Brees to T-hawk and was rooting for T-hawk to finish last so he could get T-hawk's first pick in the draft next year.  But Brees' performance last night gave T-hawk a win and moved him up to 5th place.

Of course, T-hawk could still end up with the 1st pick if he loses first in the consolation round of the playoffs, so I guess Rusty isn't completely screwed yet.

Charles and Matthews.

Bradshaw is the got to guy in New York, but seems like he can't last as a true #1

I've never been a fan of the New York Jets offense, and Shonn Greene. They use him like the Eagles use their running backs...at the wrong times, and the Jets are always playing from behind...not conducive to running back touches.

Charles should bounce back as the #1, but it was a knee injury he suffered and the fact that the Chiefs are one QB injury away from having an offense worse than the Jets. Matthews is tolbert's bitch but with sparatic potential for huge points.

How many years does Bradshaw have left? Maybe it its a toss up between Charles and Bradshaw. Don't you have a magic 8-ball you can ask these questions to?

Cash received from: Dio (I think, Baltimore postal stamp on the envelope)

Deadbeats: Sarge, THawk, Phreak

I mailed you cash on Monday aholeface. If you don't get it by Monday, let me know so I can write a sternly worded letter to the Postmaster General.

I didn't forget, I was just hoping you would.

Seriously though, I'm waiting for my pubes to grow a little longer so I can shave and sprinkle them into the envelope.

I'm still growing.  My new plan is to braid my pubes and glue them on Jackson's head so it looks like he has dreads.

You think you're gonna do for his head what Maclin's shaving remnants have been doing for his chin?

Alright. Good to see RJS is taking care of my old team. I take it you didn't start Culpepper and Moss in the playoffs?

I think I still had Moss as of last year. The last of the team I inherited. This is the second championship I've won with this team. I think Dio and I are the only multi-year champions, since I joined anyway.

I won with it, too. Dynasty!

At best a Dynasty equal to my team--won two in a row? I have--which was founded by MURP.  Then there's the question..did he win any of the years before I took over?

So yeah.  I own this league.

True story.  $20 and my flowing wang locks were placed in an envelope and dropped in the mailbox today.  Lucky for you, I was too lazy to braid them.  Unfortunately for you, I was not too lazy to mushroom stamp your money several times.
