They asked didinger about him today and he said something like: of course they wont take him in the 2nd and probably not the 3rd but I like him a lot in the 4th.

I like that it seems they may be looking toward FA for a corner (yes, I know that's terribly optimistic).

Jarrett is a very productive collegiate safety, but he may lack the size and speed to make an impact at the next level. He is a four-year starter that seeks out contact in run support and breaks down ball carriers in the open field. In the passing game, he uses very good recognition skills to effectively cover the deep-third of the field despite less than ideal speed. It remains unclear if his toughness and instinctual advantages can make up for his size and speed deficiencies in the NFL, but he has a great attitude and work ethic and should be a middle round pick.

Now THIS is much closer to a "smartest guys in the room" type pick.

So...clean this up for me....is this good or bad. I'm leaning towards bad?

not really his football pedigree is complete normal...if he played for temple basketball or until last year wanted to be a rapper instead of a football player then it would be classic eagles

instead this pick is just a good ole fashioned reach

This to me seems to be the yearly Eagles knee-jerk. I think they wanted Paea, and then the Bears hopped in front of them and grabbed him. They had no plan B. I can totally see them saying, "shtein. Who else? Uh, this dude."

By the way, this pick totally shatters that bullshtein the Eagles always say about taking the best player instead of drafting for need. You can argue he was the best safety available, but best player? No farging way.

Yep.  I think they wanted Paea and got hosed by the Bears.  With that, I have no problem with Jarrett.  He was top 5 Safety on many draft lists.

I was thinking the dude the texans picked in the 2nd rd who worked "really hard" but couldnt get off blocks and had short arms was a typical eagles pick.

I have no doubt at all that they're going after one of the free agent corners now.

With that said, I also think Chicago royally screwed them.

Getting beat like a drum in coverage by the likes of Chad Hall. People pointing out he's atrocious in coverage. Doesn't bode well.

Kurt Coleman is going to start at SS this year, barring injury. They wanted to give Jarrett a chance to win the job, but he's going to have to be relegated to a situational "in-the-box" player for now.

And he is cut today.  Good riddance.  I guess LT and S are draft needs next year.  And QB  :evil

The funniest part of this thread isnt the Jarrett bashing - it's the bashing of the Texans drafting of JJ Watt and Brooks Reed. I'd say that worked out better than Jarrett did.

They might as well have forfeited the pick instead of drafting that POS.

Nice job, Howie.

"T for Temple U"

T for Temple U
Un-i-ver-sity!
Fight! Fight! Fight! For the cherry and the white;
For the cherry and the white we'll fight, fight, fight!

(repeat)

"Fight! Temple Fight!"

Fight! Temple, fight on!
Fight with all your might!
Fight for the Cherry and White,
Keep our colors high!
Roll that ball and hit the line,
All the Temple stars will shine,
Skill and courage win the game
Fight on, Temple, fight!
