Title: Slingbox
Post by: Father Demon on December 01, 2010, 10:32:36 AM
Which one of you NFL Network people also has a slingbox and also will let me watch the Eagles game over it Thursday night? I don't get NFL Network (no, not switching to satellite), and don't want to go out to a bar to watch it.  Someone here will be able to hook me up...

i dont know shtein about shtein when it comes to this stuff but

doesnt your computer have to have the software or whatever and be hooked up to it?

someone who has a slingbox cant just fire a signal to a random computer and make tv appear on it

can they?

Essentially, they can.  If I had their log on and password, my computer connects to the slingbox through their IP address.  So, no, not everyone can connect, but if you have the credentials, it's a piece of cake.

oh so slingbox is web based...i thought you had to download some sort of slingbox software on your computer and then only that computer could get the signal

what you are saying is its just like getting the mlb computer package where i have my sign on and password and just go to mlb.com enter it and watch the phillies

Actually, I think there is a slingbox player app, but I got that the first time I used someone's (who isn't available this time).  So yes, there is a specific player, but then it's internet based.

So, who's gonna hook me up?

Someone's still bitter about his parents' divorce, and how hard they fought over who'd have to keep him.

no i just dont see how like 20 years into a marriage this dude cant go somewhere for 3 hours to watch a game, unless something serious is going on where it aint right for him to get away.

if at this point wifey doesnt respect your hobbies then i dont know. bring the hammer down on her going to the places she likes.

Wow, this is almost coherent, and I actually agree with it. Which could be because I actually understood what you wrote.

I'll never get it...I mean, I will never understand why some women are like this. I have friends like this....that get pissy on Sundays.

Its THREE HOURS. Shut the farg up! How many 3 hour events/dinners/shopping excursions have you dragged your other half to that He/she didn't want to go on?

ARGH!

:yay. Damn right!  My wife has no problem with me digging out to watch a game.  Trust me, I've been paid back with enough trips to the mall and the outlet stores on a beautiful island day and the surf is going off.  Closest thing to pouring gasoline on yourself and than having someone flick their cigarette at you.  The burning to death is probably less painful.

I must have it good.  I don't go shopping with my old lady, and she doesn't watch football with me.  We both win.

Guys...  and token sports-board-chick - it's not the wife.  I don't wanna go to a bar when I can watch (and drink) for free.  But thanks for the commentary.

I'm watching it on a free site one of you suggested, and Z - thanks for the hook up offer, but this way was pretty easy....

I'm watching a great looking feed at http://www.justin.tv/sportscasthq89/ if anyone still doesn't have the game.

After game report card:

atdhe dot net - very choppy
channelsurfing dot net - choppy, stream would freeze.  Change "channels" to another feed, same problem. (I usually use this one for other stuff, and it's not usually that bad)
justin dot tv - was an excellent stream.  Could do without the 12 year olds chatting on the side, using words like "butt" and "fag" all the time.   Hey.. wait.. Sarge - were you watching and chatting there?

Thanks for the tips, and you're welcome for the report.

There's a "Popout" button that pops the game out into its own window, so you can close that other shtein. I had the game fullscreened most of the time.

That was a hell of a good looking stream. I think they were claiming 720P.

They usually have better feeds but the NFL network broadcast is all around crappy anyway. When they can broadcast a HD feed it's great to watch.
