I figured it'd open around 4.5, but Giants coming off a loss and Iggles on a short week makes that line make sense.  Plus no one in the NFL has shown any consistency from week-to-week.

I think a lot of the $$ will come in on Philly.  If it does, I'm curious if Vegas will move it up to try to split the cash.

Pretty damn exciting 24 hours, Birds performance, Flyers on fire, Doc wins Cy Young and throw in the G Men coming to town.  Awesome.  The Sixers don't exist.

Is there a bigger bunch of excuse makers than Giants fans? They're already toting the "we're injured" line and the game hasn't even started.

The players sound like they are trying to convince themselves they can stop Vick. (http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5818954)

In the Colts game, Vick was dropping back 10+ yards, but seemed to be taking normal drops in the Skins game. Must be part of the gameplan against teams with a good pass rush
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: mussa on November 18, 2010, 07:00:38 PM
He's dropping back that far so he can see better. He only 6 foots.
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: ice grillin you on November 18, 2010, 07:05:20 PM
he has three pair of feet?

fred flinstone could have driven faster than vick can run if he had that

I believe that the only player on the team who can claim that is Joselio.

Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time

not being able to see the receivers is what made that game most impressive
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: General_Failure on November 19, 2010, 11:07:43 AM
Does it matter how far he drops back when he's throwing to somebody 60 friggin' yards away?
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: Tomahawk on November 19, 2010, 11:18:07 AM
No...just pointing out that part of the gameplan is to have him drop that far back against teams with good pass rushers
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: ice grillin you on November 19, 2010, 11:24:27 AM
even with a good offensive line you need a deep drop to go that far down the field

on the play to pimp they didnt even trust a deep drop they rolled him out and max protected (clay harbor actually made the key block)
Title: Re: Philly vs. New York In Prime Time
Post by: mussa on November 19, 2010, 11:28:09 AM
They pointed out that game how far back he's dropping back and clearly said he's doing this because of his height. I would think dropping back that far gives him the advantage to see and also to create more space to avoid the rush.

Being how important this game is, I almost wish they were playing it on the Giants home turf.

While there are other teams/stadiums that truly pose a home field advantage, I just dont think the Eagles are one of them.

False. The fans were as loud as any that I've heard during the Colts game and it clearly affected Manning's ability to yell Omaha at the los.

Yes, no handoffs to McCoy, but to be fair, the OLine is getting obliterated during run calls.  They're holding up well on passing plays though.

Still, it would slow down the rush to get some farging runs going.

Exactly. How is that hit any less violent or dangerous than the hit Samuel put on that other dude?  Oh wait, the other dude got up so I guess the Samuel hit wasn't as bad. Not to mention that Samuel actually led with his shoulder and the only reason Samuel hit him in the helmet is because dook is about a foot taller than Asante.

I can't help but be impressed with Vick's willingness to give up his body to gain an extra yard. It's going to end up killing him but that mentality is what McNabb lacked and the team seems to respond to it.

got ugly there for a while but what a huge win.  They're temporarily the #2 seed and next week is big for tiebreakers

and more fuel for the McNabb haters: Vick technically led a comeback with under 5 minutes left, even though he almost killed it a few times and most of the yardage was thanks to Shady

Vick came right out without being asked about it and said the red zone offense tonight was inexcusable and it needs to and will be corrected.

I love Vick more each week.  Good to see him pissed off.  I heard Colin Herd this past week say the red zone efficiency stat was overrated?  If you're winning by 30 points maybe it is but one td tonight instead of one of those field goals would have iced this thing by halftime.

This Bears game scares the shtein out of me.

Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty and offensive lineman David Diehl ripped Eagles guard Todd Herremans for the two plays on which Herremans was penalized during Sunday night's game. Both termed the two hits "dirty."

"Two of them. Same guy," Canty told the Newark Star-Ledger. "When you talk about players doing that to one another ... playing hard, playing between the whistles is one thing. But that was a dirty play. I think we all can agree on that."

Herremans was called for tripping on the first one, although it looked more like a clip when he dove at Canty's legs from behind. The second was called a chop block because Canty was engaged with center Mike McGlynn. Herremans could face a fine, when the league issues its weekly penalties Friday.

"In a league where we're trying to crack down on defenseless players and things of that nature, that can't be allowed," Canty said. You're talking about defensive players taking shots on quarterbacks and wide receivers, well the league has to protect defensive players as well.

"That kind of behavior, it's either taught or it's allowed. Either way, it has no place in our game."

Diehl, watching the game on TV, because he was injured, also was not happy with the plays.

"I don't play that way. I never have," Diehl said. "There's a difference between cutting somebody and cutting somebody from behind late like that and going after somebody's legs. I think it was a dirty shot. If you're out in the open and cut somebody from the front, that's legal, when you see them coming. But when their back's to you, we all know that's blatant."

As for what this all means for the next time the two teams play, Dec. 19, at the Meadowlands ...

"We all reap what we sow," Canty said. "We all reap what we sow."

farg you Canty.  Make a play some time.

Herremans was on with Missanelli Monday and said that that first one was dirty, he said he does it only when his qb or rb is about to get hit, but it happens all the time.  The second one didnt make sense to him, as Mcglynn wasnt engaged with the DT.

The one friggin' time he actually hits somebody, and they fine him for it. He's going to fly right by every WR with a ball in his hands from now on.

Andy made a point that they told Asante to go low last year and he got knocked out.

It could be worse - they could start undoing touchdowns due to celebration penalties.

I'll sign up for that rule.  Coolest celebration ever is to hand the ball to the ref and get off the field so the kicking team can do their thing.  But nooo...goddamn jock clowns gotta dance and prance and nance about.  And the fans eat it up.

Idiocracy.

I think its more the celebrating before scoring. I gotta say though the first play on the taterskins, the turn around dance into the endzone was totally appropriate and awesome  :yay

I love a good endzone celebration.  Don't care so much for celebrating before getting into the endzone.  Score first, then dance.

I find the game entertaining, not the WWFesque celebrations of scores, tackles, etc.  There's no class or respect in it.  You didn't score the TD, mr. diva receiver, the team scored.  Save the celebration for if and when you actually win the game and until then act like a gentleman.

definitely agree...

there should be no celebrating until all games are over...this includes after hockey and soccer goals home runs touchdowns three pointers monster dunks and 15-0 runs that end with an opponents time out

they also should bring back the peach basket the no dunking rule and the all white major leagues...shtein while we are at it get rid of the golaie mask and the forward pass

Well, that's about right by comparison to you losers.  Three or four hours of sports per week during football season, double that if I can watch the Eagles game, almost none the rest of the year.  I can't stand much more than that.

Jocks are one of the lowest forms of human life, and obsessing over their circus tricks is pathetic.   Fundamentally speaking, it's no more valuable than following celebrity gossip.

Talking sports with people like you is the worst of all.  I will never understand how I got sucked into this shameful lifestyle.

in case this wasn't posted anywhere (I missed it)

QuoteEagles guard Todd Herremans was fined $5,000 for hits on Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty. Herremans was called for two penalties on Sunday, and Canty was furious because he thought Herremans was trying to take him out at the knees.

Goodell must throw darts or something for fine amounts. Samuel gets $40,000 and Herremans 5k? He is a silly man.

There's a difference between celebrations and what some douchebag does down 28 when he tackles someone for a 2 yard loss.  I don't mind celebrations as long as they're warranted.   People acting like farging champions when their team is getting rocked are dumbasses and makes the celebrations look worse.

QuoteBrandon Jacobs is $20,000 poorer because he acted on an impulse that most visiting players to Eagles fans have probably felt at one time or another.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports Jacobs was fined for "unsportsmanlike conduct toward fans."

"Jacobs was observed by an NFL security representative making obscene gestures and yelling obscenities toward fans in the stands," NFC information manager Randall Liu said Friday.

Ha, that $20,000 could have bought a lot of kleenex instead
