Patterson starting at corner over Hobbs.

even with the colts on a short week and the Eagles off the bye, i have no confidence they'll win this game.
Good to see Hobbs get benched, but I don't think it'll matter much this week.
Call me overly optimistic but I think the Eagles win this game. Indy isn't the Indy of old, they're banged up.
yeah i think the injuries are a much bigger deal than the short week for the colts bye week for the eagles
also the colts defense is not good
not saying the eagles are going to win yet but i feel much better about this game than in years past
Agreed.
Colts without Clark/Addai/Collie helps.
i would feel good about it until i think about Reggie Wayne lining up on the left side of the formation and Asante not being able to follow, because you know, he only plays one side.
Reggie Wayne on Dimitri Patterson? ouch.
Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeny against Justice and Peters? ouch.
Quote"I didn't become talented overnight," Patterson said, "I came in as a talented player and I've just been a guy who's been patiently waiting for an opportunity."
Get ready for this guy to get TORCHED by Pierre Garcon.
No shtein
You never became talented, Patterson. You're getting an opportunity because of front office blunders
Lindley can't come along fast enough.
this is exactly the sort of game the eagles should get flattened in.
so look for a huge win, say 33-17.

when/if patterson is on wayne (i cant imagine the eagles wont adjust after the britt debacle) he will have a safety over the top of him the entire game....wayne will still get his but unless nate allen melts down again i have to believe waynes big plays will be limited
i think the bigger concern as ff said is garcon or whoever else is on patterson
mathis and freeney combined only have two more sacks than killa....i still dont like the matchup in the least but they havent terrorized qb's like in the past.....no doubt this could be a bust out game for them but i am not petrified like i would be most years.....altho i might feel like this because no matter who the eagles are playing the line is a huge concern...so being an even bigger concern doesnt resonate as much.....plus you have the vick factor
Kerry Collins and Kenny Britt lit up this secondary. It's either we can't stop the run or the pass. Either way Manning can carve any defense regardless who is receiving. Our only hope is Vick being able to create when he is running for his life. If he is due for a bad game it is this one since he could be rusty coming off the injury. I don't see how they win this game. By week or not, this team needs to prove they won't lie down like they did against the Titans. That was pathetic. The team is bi-polar as all hell and I'll always side with them losing when they face a much better team/coach. Peyton is a master at last minute drives and Reid is about the dumbest coach in the league when it comes to last minutes in games. I hope they prove me wrong!
Birds have not beaten the Colts since 1993. Your quarterback? Walter Andrew "Bubby" Brister.
Colts always kick their asses.
Hey, Brandon Graham said he won't be moving down as much. So we have a change at RCB and Graham staying at DE. Movin' on up?
BTW - Eagles said Hobbs was injured and missed today to go to the doctor.
Vick >>>>>>>>>>>>> Freeney/Mathis

Mungro!
Check out Darwin Walker in the background favoring his thigh.
ill always love the colts for embarrassing matt mccoy so much that the eagles never gave him another start....of course that gave us omar gaither who the eagles spent the better part of the next three years slamming down out throats
Hope the Colts beat the Texans. If so, the Eagles will be in a great spot on Sunday. Couldn't ask for a better spot with the Eagles coming off a loss and the bye and the Colts coming off a win in a big division game with a short week. Plus Clark hurt and other injuries with Vick back.
Love this spot for the Eagles.

That's probably the best case scenario, but I'm still far from loving that spot
First Eagles game I ever saw was in '99 at the Vet vs. the Colts, who trashed the Eagles behind Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James, both of whom had very nice days.
The only consolation was seeing McNabb throw his first NFL TD (to Chad Lewis) in garbage time.
I've heard a story...here I'm sure...that when Peyton returned to Philly after that game, he was given shtein by some ignorant Philly fan in a bar, and passed the guy a souvenir: his stat line from that game on a napkin. 235 yards, 3 tds, (one of them an 80 yarder), no INT.
If the Eagles are lucky enough to be close at the end, everyone knows that theres a 99% chance Andy does something stupid that blows the game. That and the fact that Manning is the best out there late in the game makes it bad for the Eagles. They'll be fired up for this one, as they always are coming off a buy, and could make it close, but I can't help but think the buy week streak ends against the Colts.

yeah no matter how optimistic you might be about this game theres no way you can say the eagles are in a great spot
Yeah, I feel like they win this game is the over is 70+
I think the Eagles have a shot this week...which is more than I've ever thought against the Colts since the Mungro game. I think they can score with the Colts and all, especially with Vick being able to sustain some drives with his legs...but I don't see them slowing down Manning in the least. I just picture Manning sniffing out everything McDermott is trying to do pre-snap (just like he did against JJ) and making them pay for it.
11-1 after the bye ain't bad...

i meant to post the quote but forgot...did anyone see the article in the paper a few days ago where peters said the fans are going to be in for a treat sunday watching him vs freeney because its a pro bowler going against a pro bowler
LOL. Does Peters realize that the majority of people who watch football, aren't doing so because they are enamoured with DL vs OT match ups?
Even if that were true, it would be offset by Mathis vs. Justice
im not sure i would be promoting myself against dwight freeney in first week back from knee surgery
but even healthy peters is like a quinton mikell type pro bowler and dwight freeney is ronnie lott
Very true
Even without the knee injury, Peters shouldn't be promoting anything about himself other than how much he sucks.
And please tell me that he actually used the words "fans will be in for a treat." Because I don't care if it's Reggie White lining up against Anthony Munoz, that still isn't a treat. Well, maybe it is, but you get the poingt. You've got a game featuring Manning, Vick and Pimp and he thinks that watching him is going to be a treat? Me thinks it's more like a trick.
Treat me to an uninjured QB, a healthy YPC for Shady and a farging win, Peters.

i was paraphrasing but he definitely said something along those lines...and i disagree...im not gonna lie and say id be watching it every play but i think a monster end tackle matchup is exciting and theres time when its mos def something to watch for...
this week is not one of those times

Never said it wasn't exciting, but there are very very few DE/OT matchups (ever) that you would ever go into a game and say "I need to pay attention to these guys." And there are very, very few people out there who would consider watching a great match up to be a treat.
We actually agree, you just don't realize it.
yeah... but you also cant say you're not at home watching it on tv and not looking at freeney when the ball is snapped.
if I see vick or kolb drop back my eyes automatically focus on the pressure from line. its actually all we really have a good look at anyway. you cant miss freeney, and sure as hell cant miss Peters' early take off from the line and him still spinning past him.
now if you're at the game different story.
Quote from: reese125 on November 04, 2010, 07:52:16 PM
yeah... but you also cant say you're not at home watching it on tv and not looking at freeney when the ball is snapped.
Anyone who is more than a casual fan will pay attention to Freeney. That goes without question. At the same time, Freeney vs Peters isn't going to make anyone say "Oh I gotta see that!"
Besides with Vick under center, the Freeney vs Peters matchup becomes slightly less critical than if Kolb were under center. Vick is a lefty, so I'm more concerned with what happens on the right side of the line since that's Vick's blind side.
I used to love watching Runyan and Strahan go at it, and Reggie against who ever he was laying waste to that day.
Can only white athletes have "grit?" Is it basically a substitution for exceptional talent? (http://blogs.indystar.com/philb/2010/11/04/colts-austin-collie-has-true-grit/)
grit = hard worker
exceptional talent = gifted but lazy
Right, so the only way white athletes are successful is grit, and most black ones are lazy?
pretty much
the problem is theres like one talented white athlete every five years and a thousand hardworking black athletes a week
White guys get to be called gritty, black guys get to be called athletic. Hispanic guys don't get called anything, but they'll do the same job for a quarter of the pay.

If I sat down and thought about it, I'm sure I could come up with a few more names, but 2 names immediately jumped out at me when I read your comment. Eric Snow and George Lynch. Neither was athletically superior but those guys were straight up hustlers and outworked damn near anyone on the floor. Obviously they never achieved anything remotely close to superstar status like Utley did, but I think they were a couple of nitty gritty bruthas on the court.

sweet defensive stop
seems like if the birds lose, it wont be due to the colts winning, but due to the refs and their own mistakes
i think the eagles are closing in on 100 yards of penalties
BIG 1st down there...
too bad they could not keep it going
but they ran the clock down
letssssss go DDDDDDDDDDDDD
pretty much a given that the colts will score here

Without a doubt the worst officiated game I've ever seen.
Just laughable.
You have gotta be kidding me. Why not just call the game a Colts win now? Unreal.
I haven't been this pissed since 2002.

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

lolololololololol
The refs cost me $500, but I'm not paying up because of the total BS that was the refs.
Assante saves the day!
Bad thing is the game would have been much more in favor of the Eagles if it wasn't for the crazy penalties. (two turnovers negated among other things)
Nice win!

I've never come away from a win as pissed off as I am right now. farg the NFL, the refs, and these bullshtein rules and calls. Unbelievable that they'd call a guys hand grazing the back of a helmet a penalty.

YES!
DGunn thinks there's a conspiracy that the owners are trying to collect as much money from the players as possible before the lockout :-D
Considering those penalties, makes as much sense as not.
mad march hare indeed.
:-D
neck strain for Allen, will be evaluated in the morning
I'm torn on what I disliked more in this game. The high number of penalties, or the ground level endzone view for kickoffs.
Surprised that they won, but I kinda thought Asante would pick one off at the end. It had a nice symmetry to it.
Only thing worse than the refs was phil simms sucking mannings lower shaft like a 12 year old going to town on a lollipop
Also I'm all in on vick.

I liked how the cameras caught Lurie, who looked like he had a big ol hog dip in, giving the refs the whatever hand flip on that false start call
14 penalties for 125 yards

Exactly. I should be sitting here happy as shtein that they beat an all-time great, but instead...I'm pissed the farg off because I still feel cheated.
Worst officiated game I've EVER seen... and I mean that shtein.
There's been plenty of bad officiating this season. We were chatting with the Titans fans two weeks ago about how awful it was in that game. But there, it was universally bad.
This game was flat out partisan. All the blown calls went against Philly. Absurd.
Vick was asked why he didn't slide today and he said "I'm gonna play this game how I play it"
he actually said he don't play like no bitch.
I'm watching the game on DVR now... that Vick/Desean pass on the 3 down backed up in our own zone was money....
Had to go into a work meeting right as they called the Roughing the Passer.....Merrill and Quick were losing it, and so was I.
Most mad I've ever been after a win.
The Eagles outplayed the Colts all game and would have won by double digits if not for the refs. It was a joke.

Wow. Easy there Father Damien. I had to listen to the last 10 minutes of the game on the car radio. I was fuming at when they described the penalty on Trent Cole. I almost drove the car into a group of old ladies crossing the street. Just saw the replay on DVR. The only bigger joke was the defenseless receiver horse shtein call on Collies hit. This has just gotten out of hand. The Gestapo is taking over.
I have to admit, if not for having Vick @ qb, the Eagles would have lost yesterday, Kolb would have probably gotten' another concussion. Vick is the only qb who can survive a game behind this line, they suck horrendously. Sometimes it seemed Vick was dropping back fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. He made some beautiful passes, tight spirals that sailed through the air like missiles. He pretty much carried the team because I don't know that there is another qb in the league who could have operated behind that line.
Pump the brakes a bit. He also nearly threw 2-3 interceptions. He wasn't perfect. But mobility is a must behind this line, no doubt.

I'm trying not to falut Vick, but he bails too early. The line was awful - no doubt - but when a pocket did form he still scrambled. I know a lot of that is a lack of trust in his line but he has to get over that and learn to recognize a pocket when it's there.

people said that after the Lions and Jags games, bottom line, no interceptions this year, i don't give a shtein about "almosts"
I know there's still a long way to go, but a healthy Vick + Pimp + Shady gives them a legit chance to come out of the NFC this year.
I was thinking the same yesterday no way Kolb would of survived yesterday. Vick had his weakest game yesterday so far this season but he still had zero INT's and is making plays with his feet when he needs to. I am fine with him bailing early, the defense doesn't know what the hell to do with him. He seems to be able to throw much better now than in the past.
Some of his throws yesterday were absolutely perfect, just beautiful.

I dont know how much of it is lack of faith in his line or the fact that be just basically had his sternum crushed. if hes feeling pressure, I dont want him standing in there tall like the other totem pole qb's in the league. hes a rare qb that has the luxury to gain 25 yards in open field by running out of that pocket. if hes sees it, he should take off.
I can't believe the Eagles won....stupid team made me have faith in them again. Super Bowl.
Patterson also looked good, hopefully he played well enough to steal Hobbs starting job
That is why this team is so frustrating one week they beat a team like this the next who knows. I will say this though the team is clearly more confident with Vick in there, they have a different swagger.
Some other thoughts:
-Jason Peters had his best game as an Eagle. Never mind his one stupid penalty, Freeney was a non-factor. I know they gave him help from time to time but he held his own when he was singled up on him.
-Stewart Bradley is a liability in coverage and especially on seem patterns. He needs safety help the further we go into the season, I cringe to think what Dallas Clarke would have done to him.
-Cut me a break with the Colts were injured nonsense. The Eagles have had just as many injuries this season to just as many key players. Vick/Kolb/Bradley/Jackson/Allen/Hobbs/Bunkley/Peters/J Jackson and I'm probably missing a bunch of other players.
-Where have you gone Brent Celek? Maybe he should have spent the offseason working out instead of on Facebook, Twitter, and Daily News Live.
vick only throws to the black guys
He threw to Owen Schmitt yesterday
I watched Celek close yesterday, almost every play he runs his little route, doesn't get open, then raises one of his hands like he is. It's painful to watch.

watch these buttfargers have a lockout next year
If they do I'm sure they'll find plenty of new and creative ways to sneak more ads into their broadcasts to get back some of that lost money.
All of the chalk lines on the field will become advertising banners.
Vick drops back....looking.....fires across the middle complete to Jackson at the Snickers.....across the Bud Light to the Toyota......Excedrin, McDonald's and into the Auto Zone for a touchdown!

I did not mention :CF to Freddie when I met him this weekend. You should have seen his eyes light up when my buddy said "4th and 26!" though. Seriously, that was probably the highlight of a guy's life who has peaked and has nowhere to go but down.
There's a picture on the internet of Freddie Mitchell standing next to you. I don't think his life can go any further south at this point.

How long until this reaches Freeney and then reporters run back to Celek for reaction and he backtracks.
It won't because reporters haven't had any reason to "run" to Celek since the Captain Morgan pose. And even then, not really.
The guy who had 0 receptions in that game (and way too many drops on the year) probably shouldn't be making public statements about the effort other players are or aren't giving.
^^
that
especially about a guy who is going to eclipse 100 career sacks
who exactly is brent farging celek anyway
also more catching and less twittering you jerk off
I was going to mention that Celek has accomplished practically nothing in his career other than having "the potential to be one of the best TE's in the game" where Freeney is and has been one of the best DE's in the game for quite some time now, but I knew someone would come in and close it out for me.
