Title: Reggie Wells, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: PoopyfaceMcGee on September 03, 2010, 02:55:21 PM
Was starting OG for the Cards prior to this year - Acquired for a 2011 6th round pick (http://prod.www.cardinals.clubs.nfl.com/news-and-events/article-1/Reggie-Wells-traded-to-Eagles/f23567bd-563c-4a16-8de0-7a63389cd42c?module=HP_headlines)

I hope this means that they cut Stacy Andrews, although all they've done for now is put Abiamiri on the PUP list.

Wow. Glad to hear it. Stacy Andrews is HORRIBLE.  It'll take a while for the line to gel, but I feel a whole better about it now than I did before reading this.

Seriously. A little late, but whatever. I like. Of course the question is why wasn't he starting this year and why were they willing to let go of him for a 6th rounder.

QuoteGuard Reggie Wells, a starter for the last six seasons and throughout training camp ... Wells' salary (he is due $2.4 million this season), moving the veteran was not unexpected.

They signed Alan Faneca to replace him too.

Yay Howie.

Sounds like Arizona kept trying to upgrade him but he kept playing just well enough to hold his spot.

Word is that Faneca is washed up but due too much guaranteed money, so they didn't want to pull a Bengals and cut him.

You'd better stick to just posting them.

Without ever watching Wells play in an Eagles uniform he's already better than Stacey Andrews. This is the kind of move I was anticipating. Still wouldn't mind seeing them make a play for Logan Mankins. He wants out of NE and would solidify the RG spot for the next decade.

how the hell did andy let this line get so god damn bad

the dirty little secret hidden amongst the stacy andrews debacle...herremans foot...jj knee and the general incompetance of the interior of the line is that jason peters sucks

when winston farging justice is the bright spot on your line its gonna be a long year

not only that...but they didn't take one farging lineman this year in the draft.  usually they are good for one or two OL in the 4th - 7th rounds

He really thought Andrews, Andrews, and Peters would solidify the line last year. Why it wasn't addressed this year, I have no idea.

Peters has a lot of ability, but he has about as much fire in himself as Marreese Speights. The dude just looks like he doesn't give a shtein all the time and with the stupid penalties, maybe he doesn't. If they can find a way to get him motivated, he'd be fine.

FYI: Rumor has it that there are teams interested in dealing for Stacy Andrews, and the Eagles are listening.

Looks like Reggie Wells is the starting RG.

If anyone, anywhere, wants Andrews, take that deal.

Completely misfired on re-tooling the line by letting runyan and tra go and replacing them with players they paid a high price for. At least they are admitting the mistake now rather than waiting to see if it works itself out like they used to with the WR and LB positions.

Just once I wish they could approach an offseason with an approach that tables multiple needs.

Apparently Stacy and his agent are miffed, saying he wouldn't have agreed to restructure to be a backup.  Wah.  Trade his ass.

Then maybe he should have worked harder to earn that paycheck.
Seriously, they only wanted to pay him less because he sucks.  This should've been obvious.

bengals were smart enough to not cake off a guy with a nuclear knee...tagged him the year before the injury...let him walk the year after.....birds panicked when runyan was done and gave him a terrible deal...when the bengals out smart you its time to re-evaluate

Per LaCanfora, teams are looking at Andrews as a possible starting RT.   :deion

By the way all the bitching about his contract is funny, because the Eagles actually protected themselves fairly good last year, then for good measure, they made him renegotiate this year anyway.  Plus, it's the same people bitching about them caking off Andrews who always bitch when they don't outbid other teams for other "star" free agents.  Make up your minds, fudgesicles.

Andrews was signed to appease his crazy syrup pouring brother.  Instead Stacey not only sucked, but his brother continued to be a bitch, cut all ties with the brothers.

i dont think anyone actually cares about the terms of the deal but on paper the amount of the contract combined with one knee multiplied by his performance makes for great comedy

troll alert:

wait a minute...if I pull up the Stacey Andrews thread right now I can bet there might be from you a "BOOM...love it" or "stud premiere tackle in the league coming into his own", ACL/MCL tears dont mean shtein for movement when you're a tackle--its well worth the risk regardless with the bum knee", etc. etc. Now it was such a waste to grab a guy with a nuclear knee?

why not these concerns from you when the eagles signed him?

ps-I miss you.

Terrible offensive line, looks to be, but the D should be worlds better than last year which would make them at least competative this year.

We're always gonna' worry about that, but on the other hand what other qb would have a chance at surviving behing this line? shtein, last year Kolb didn't last long enough for fans to realize he was the starter.
