Anyone else going? I know preseason games suck but I just got free tickets so I'll be there.
Kolb's going the first quarter
Vick the 2nd and part of if not all of the 3rd
Kafka the rest of the game
I'll check this thread for updates if the antichrist is on good behavior
will be watching on nfln after the phillies game....btw phillie threaders no mention of the birds game....thank you
Yeah, I am at the game. Eagles wearing all white tonight.
On a side note, the field looks better than it has in years.

Same here.
But I will be flipping between the Skins/Bills and Phils...I will try to avoid the bottom line scores.
farg all of you. I'm stuck watching the bums on my ipad. No birds, no skins. Daddy very sad.
Do me a favor guys. Let me know how my boy Te'o Neshim does. I hope he doesn't look like a fool out there. Also keep an eye on Tyson Alualu for the Jags. Saw highlights of him at the Jags camp and he looked like a beast. Put on some serious lbs and not Nate Ilao kind of pounds.
you dont get nfln there don?
Good to see the cheerleaders camel toes are ready for the season.

Very touchy subject round these parts. Oceanic Cable is part of Time Warner. There is a sports bar right down the way if I get desperate. Only 1:30 here and lots of shtein still to do.
Scramblin' Kolb prevents being creamed. They could really use an offensive lineman or two.
at least he doesn't have concrete shoes.
Demps and Buckley hurt so far. Nothing that looked too serious.
Mostly good passes from Kolb, except whenever he wanted to go to Celek.
1st team offense looked good, mostly because Kolb. He forced some throws and def had some jitters, but good Hitting most guys in stride. Liked his ability to get out of pocket and move. DJack looked typical. Shady had a few nice rumbles. O-line was just ok.
1st team D - solid. 2 - 3 and outs.
Bad - special team kickoffs. Jags had good field position both kicks.
Vick had a nice throw to Riley Cooper for about 40...then got sacked and lost fumble. Stopped watching after that...
I like what I see so far from the team :yay
Joselio just got torched.
tuned back just in time to see joselio get torched by 15 yards. and he had the illegal contact penalty.
Hugh explaining on the replay that if Joselio's going to get beat and grab the guy as he's going by, he may as well just tackle him. Good advice, I think.
See? Just like that. Get beat by the receiver, so you club him over the head.
Jags CB karate chops Kelley Washington after getting beat. :-D
td for puppy hitler.
the budlight bank robber commercial is pretty funny. which means they will play it until I have to stab my eyes out with a dull piece glass.

not sure if he has before but he was undrafted so I'm sure he would slide over if they needed him to.

Andy loves kicking tackles inside, so there is a pretty good shot.
on a scale of 1-5 how did kolb look
3ish.
kickoff coverage is baaaaad
Wow, Kafka has a High School arm. Underthrowing badly.
I'd really like to see two or three plays in a row in this game where somebody doesn't throw deep.

I think Kafka was choking back on the ball. Not saying he's got an all world arm, but it's his first live action game, and he seemed hesitant.

Was impressed with the speed of the first team D.
O looked good, O-line did surprisingly well.

Most of those guys on ST tonight won't be on the team much less on kickoff coverage. Not really a major issue until the last couple of PS games and into the regular season.

Ha. I took my 7 year old and he loved it.
I had a ton of those annoying teenagers in my section tonight. Half way through the 3rd quarter a dozen or so of their friends occupied some empty seats and they were trying to get the crowd chanting. In the 3rd quarter of a preseason game. ::)
There was a late teen/early 20's kid sitting next to me with a black Vick jersey on. He kept asking me questions, I have no idea why. At one point he says "wanna see something cool?", I didn't give him an answer but he lifts the back of his jersey and he has a T-shirt that says McVick with the number 57 on it. Real clever.
I am still watching the game now its almost half time (watching on DVR)...
* Kolb looked good. He had a few forced throws but he was on for most throws. I was pleasantly surprised by his mobility in the pocket.
* I think Jeremy Maclin is going to have a huge season. Coverage is going to roll to Pimp, who will beat whatever and whoever they send his way. Maclin and Celek will feast on the middle of the field.
* Michael Vick...welcome back to the NFL. He looks very good. And he throws a pick as I type this lol
* Mike McGlynn played well at C...perhaps they'll scrap the Nick Cole experiment there.
* Riley Cooper's got game. So does Kelley Washington. Goodbye Hank Baskett.
* Brandon Graham...so far so good.
* Call me nuts, but I am not all the way sold on Shady yet.

Was he Indian by any chance?
My buddy has one of his cousins about that age that lives with him and sometimes when I drop by I talk with him about sports. One time I called Vick McVick and he thought it was so hilarious for some reason and said he was going to call him that from now on.
Why does the kick coverage continuously suck with this team?
Awful.
How's my boy Te'o Neshim looking phreak?
Haven't really noticed him, Don.
But I am going to re-watch tomorrow so I can watch OL, DL and LB play closer.
Liked what I saw tonight.

Glad you didn't make any catch predictions (Avant 80 catches this season!)
Coleman, I think, is definitely going to make this team. From what I saw of him, all that stuff that's been coming up in camp showed up in the game. He had a couple of real good hits, seemed like he knew where to be and looked pretty good in coverage.
Quote from: Diomedes on August 14, 2010, 08:01:45 AM
how many first and third quarter timeouts?
Zero and two, I think.
And those two were both Vicks fault. He lost track of the game clock both times.
Special Teams looked atrocious, but as someone else already mentioned, there's a lot of guys out there who won't even be on the opening day roster, so it's not the real st unit out there.
Kolb looked pretty good, as did the 1st team offense. Celek dropped a td though.
I like the fact that the first team defense had back to back 3 and outs to start the game while the first team offense had a couple of long drives to start things off. Red Zone offense needs to improve though. Can't settle for too many FG's once the season kicks off.
Here's what really jumps out at me though:
Jax had 0 rushing 1st downs, was 0-9 on 3rd down and 0-2 on 4th. Granted, those aren't all the first team defense, but it's still pretty dominant. Not to mention that the Eagles more than doubled Jax in TOP. Turnovers are what allowed the Jags to stay in the game.
All in all, solid outing for the offensive and defensive starters and Vick looked like the old Vick.....made some really nice plays and turned the ball over a couple times.....just like when he was in Atl.
Vick looked like a completely different player than the one we saw last year. Still had that bone-headed fumble but looked fast and capable of making things happen.
It's also weird to think about, but this team looks like it has a lot of legit depth at WR. Washington and the white-boy both look like they can contribute and the top three are pretty clearly a capable group. That has to be a first in the Reid era. Meanwhile there's zero depth on the o-line which also is probably a first, and not exactly a positive, but whatever.
Quote from: Butchers Bill on August 14, 2010, 10:39:30 AMAnd those two were both Vicks fault.
I blame Reid.
1.) 1st and 3rd quarter, take the delay of game penalty. There is no excuse for wasting the timeout. The fact a TO is taken instead of the delay of game penalty is a coaching call, not a player call. I didn't see the game, so it may well have been Vick himself or another player who signaled for the TO, but he did so only because Reid/coaches instruct him to do so, rather than not to do so.
2.) He should prepare his players better, and when they F up something like that, it's on him. He needs to drill better in camp and practice, and if necessary change his cockamamie play calling system so that it doesn't take so goddamn long to get a play in to the QB.
Chad Hall looked damn good whether it was at WR/KR/PR/RB. He's just an athlete, who has the right attitude that he'll do whatever he can to make this team.
Demps is done, he tore his vajajay or something early. Quentin is not on his way
Pimp showed why he is the funnest thing to watch on this team and probably top 5 in the league with his end around. Speaking of Pimp and Maclin, how nice is it to see Kolb thread the ball right to where it should be, and they can turn upfield in one motion. Just seeing them in action after a camp is impressive.
Boo Robinson stood out on the Dline, PS material easily. I never even saw trevor laws other than on the sideline. Graham looked ok out there, didnt standout a lot imo. Keenan Clayton really looked good, sure they were talking him up, but he did make some very good plays.
All in all its the pre season, but the 1st team d was pretty impressive for their first time out. The Offense is going to be fun to watch, and ST's is gonna be a work in progress. Thank god football is back
they're replaying this game on NFLN in a few minutes if anyone missed it last night

Just from watching Cooper at camp (nicknamed Sunshine after the QB in Remember the Titans, awful yet fitting name) and lastnight I see why they took him. They didn't have a need at WR but he's a steal and adds size at the position which is something they're lacking. He's locked in as the 4th WR. He's huge up close, looks more like a TE.
And you're spot on about Vick, next to pimp he was the most athletic player on the field. He'll do something to make you say damn then make a boneheade play. I think his play on the field probably mimics his personal life.
The one thing that stood out to me, at least that hasn't already been pointed out, was Stewie. It was nice to see a linebacker out there that actually looked like a linebacker instead of a chunky DB.

From what I could see at the game, it appeared as if Vick was confused about how much time should have been on the clock (40 vs 25 seconds). Kolb didn't have any time issues, and neither did Kafka.
this may be just me but i get the feeling michael vick isnt a very smart person
If Ryan Lead is a 1 and Peyton Manning is a 10, I'd guess Vick would be a 3.
I thought Austin Howard looked good too. For a guy that has been getting some hype he went out on the field and backed it up. He had a few pancakes. Overall what I noticed is a lot of the guys there have been a buzz with at camp went out on the field and proved it.

That is good news. If the Eagles manage to waste a lot fewer TOs this season, I guess I'll have to put some of that blame on McNabb's shoulders. And it will be interesting to see if Washington has a marked increase in stupid clock management this year.
Until then, my story is that the atrocious clock management skills on display under Reid are his fault and I'm sticking to it.
Vick appeared more competent than last year but still useless as a QB. The day he heads out of town can't come soon enough.

One of the biggest issues in the past was getting the play in fast enough so that the QB could get to the line and read the defense. It was the first preseason game, but every time Kolb had the ball he was at the line with at least 10 seconds left on the clock.
So hopefully it was either McNabbs fault all those years, or Reid has finally learned to get the play in quickly. I'd be satisfied with either.

McNabb burned at least one time out last night and he only played for two series I believe. Kind of leaning toward McNabb more so then Reid. Other than Vick using two (one they were actually out of time, the other looked like confusion on the O in regards to lining up) neither of the other QBs were pressing for time to snap the ball. Both Kolb and Kafka had plenty of time at the line pre-snap.

That was not a far fetched prediction. He would have to average 5 catches a game. In an offense that throws a lot and runs a lot of 3WR sets.

And Maclin hadn't shown anything yet when I made that, I was expecting his rookie year to be certainly less than what it was.
And Curtis was hurt then, I think.
no #1 wr has ever done it under reid...not even a hall of famer catching passes from your hero
why would friggin jason avant ever do it?
Because, as I explained, the outlook was somewhat grim at WR in an offense that throws a lot. And the guy has good hands.
5 catches a game. For a slot guy with good hands.

To will definitely make the HOF. The touchdown numbers alone will get him in.
Yeah, he'll get in but I'm not certain he'll be a first ballot guy though simply because he's burned so many bridges around the league.

Sure. I mean, Cris Carter hasn't gotten in yet so it's entirely possible that TO will need to wait a bit, but he's 5th on the all-time touchdown list. That's a hell of a list to be floating around the top of.
