didn't notice a thread out there about this and thought it'd be a good one to put out there and discuss and exchange info.
currently i have a htc dash smartphone through tmobile. poor man's blackberry that runs on a microsoft OS. older unit not a bad phone really. easy as hell to operate with some nice features. i have satisfied my two year contract a while ago and i'm waiting for the new htc phone to come out which is supposed to rival the i-phone that my friend who works for tmobile told me about. comes inbedded with the two transformer movies and broadcast in HD.
if i don't like the looks of it i may look to check out the i-phone itself. any word on whether it will be available through other carriers anytime soon ?
Verizon DROID. Love the phone, the signal is never an issue for me. Sucks paying 30 bucks extra to my bill for internetz all the time, but what can i say, i'm addicted to you.
LG Dare, Verizon Wireless. Great phone for touch screen, texting and internet, but the camera and video are only decent for temporary captures....nothing you'd wanna keep. No issues with coverage or the basic plan, and with the merger our new company gives a 9% discount...
a buddy of mine at work has the droid and loves it. i just got an iphone a little more than a month ago and it's awesomeness is only rivaled by bourbon, bacon and jessica alba's mud nickle.
from what i can tell, both phones are practically identical in their abilities although verizon seems to be offering a pretty awesome deal on the droids (buy one, get one free) which is great if you have someone else to give the other phone too.
when comparing the phones straight up though, i think it's 6 one way and a half dozen the other. the phones themselves aren't really anything spectacular, it's the apps that make them so fun and useful. and it seems like both phones offer the same apps, although i'm sure there are some that are available for droid that aren't for iphone and vice versa.
if you're happy with verizon, then go with the droid. but if you're looking to switch carriers, then go to at&t and pick up an iphone. in either case, i don't think you'll be disappointed with the phone at all.
Storm. Verizon. The phone is fine and the reception is fine but electronic leashes can suck my ass. If I could throw the thing into the ocean and never see it again I would. And I'm pretty sure all of my friends can attest to that since I never call anyone. OK, so maybe that's just because I'm a jerk and I should stop blaming it on my phone but whatever. farg cell phones.
Ive thought about going back to a skytel pager, but i dont think they make them anymore
i don't really understand why people still carry pagers at all. yet i still see them. why?
dont have a phone...use my girls when i need one...and i dont know what kind it is but its similar to the disposable burners on the wire
yeah i am going to check out the droid as wel. tmobile has a new family plan too where i could save another 60 per month while getting unlimted texts & internet. plus i can get new phones (the new htc for 200) and pay them off over 20 months interstate free. only thing with tmobile is horrible reception at the stadium area.

the only people i see using them are volunteer firemen and docs.
if you do a family plan, i think at&t is great because of the rollover minutes. between the 4 of us on the plan, we almost never even come close to using all of our minutes but even if we did, we've got so many saved up from rollover that we could never go through them all. i've been with them for about 5 years now (switched from sprint) and over those 5 years i've lived on the east coast, mid-west and west coast and the coverage has been excellent.

right....but i don't understand why. you can page cell phones. or are pagers still more reliable in the sense that they don't lose signal so if it's an emergency, there's almost no chance of you missing out on the call?
I have a tmoblile pre paid thing that costs me, on average, $7 a month over the year. And i havent used it in at least 2 months.
blackberry tour. very solid. alls i do is call, text, go on interwebs and take pics. no complaints though i do enjoy re-affirming my stance that igy is 50.

Socializing involves seeing people face to face and talking to them. Not exchanging emoticons and "lol"s

i really don't use my cell phone very much for talking. i use it for pretty much everything but communicating with other people. don't talk much and i text even less.
scooter doesnt have many friends
I liked having a pager, since i didnt have to call back immediately/answer a call
but what if they putt 911 on the page?

I'm close to that sentiment. I hate getting calls, and I almost never place them. Only when I don't want to make personal calls in the cubicle farm. I have the iphone, which I really like, because it gives me quick access to information. Plus it's easy entertainment if I need it.

they need to put their code at the end of that 911, if they're important, ill call

which would expalin the $7 dollar per month bill you have because
talking would cost more.
it's ok. i'm not judging you.
I have a Samsung Omnia through Verizon, with Windows 6.5 ROM and SPB Mobileshell. As far as phones go, it's great. I use it for goofing off more than actually talking on the phone, but it does some great stuff. Nice thing is that I haven't had to pay for any of the apps. It's like a digital swiss army knife.
that is a big point, does anyone actually talk anymore ? does it even matter having a ton of minutes ?
i try and avoid talking on the phone like the plague. i hate it with every fiber of my being. so for me, having a ton of minutes is irrelevant. my sister talks up a storm though so it's necessary for us to have sufficient minutes on our plan.
i use my phone for web browsing, listening to music, playing games, email, etc. i'm actually more suited for an ipod touch more so than the iphone. but i like having the phone capability should i find myself in need of an actual phone while i'm out and about.
i do it for a living so when i walk out of here i want nothing to do with it.

It's not a $7 bill... its a minute refill that i only do every 3 or 4 months or so. Sometimes more than others. gmail is sufficient in most of my electronic communications.
I not all that concerned if i am judged, if you feel better, judge me all you want.
chuck, you need to learn how to take a joke.
or a shotgun blast to the face. either way, i suppose it'll make him a better person.
Aren't jokes supposed to be funny?
:-\ :-X :'( ::)
funny jokes aren't welcome around here.
funny isnt the issue, no sense of humor seems to be though.
anywho, anyone else have reception issues at the linc ?
haven't been to the linc in about 3 yrs. don't usually spend much time on the phone while i'm there either so i couldn't really tell you one way or the other.
i did have solid reception at qualcom stadium for the eagles/chargers game last year. that game was so awful i actually posted here instead of watching.
i dodnt get reception at all there. i never talk but i try to text. mainly with my cousin in austin who is watching the game.
My reception is hit or miss. I figure that one of Lurie's vendor minions is blocking any non-Verizon signals.
i get perfect reception there
cant imagine why the vet atmosphere was so much better

so if the linc ever hosts a tesla concert, you're pretty much screwed, eh?

exactly what i'm worried about.
Blackberry Curve
I also have a Motorola Razr but I haven't used it for over a year. My contract runs out soon, thank god. Work pays for the Blackberry and air-card (both through AT & T).
We'll be getting iPhone upgrades soon, I think. I can't wait. I want one but I'm too cheap to buy my own.
Blackberry Curve from work (Verizon)...I tether my Macbook Pro to use the thing as a modem when traveling.
My personal phone (AT&T) is a simple Sony Ericsson.
Motorola RAZR2 V9
Holla old skoool!
well, this is the phone i am checking out with tmobile.

I don't know about t-mobile, but HTC makes nice phones. They're also pretty customizable. And the nice thing about windows mobile is that you can get a ton of good apps for free.
