They couldn't even beat Dallas yesterday?  Jesus Christ.
Even the Eagles might be able to pull this one out.

No Portis, no Betts, maybe no Haynesworth and half their OL missing.  Probably another 4-point margin here.  And whatever no-name RB they sign this week will get at least 60 yards...
Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on November 23, 2009, 12:03:01 PM
London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh won't drop picks, Haynesworth will play and dominate, Edwin Williams and the rest of that rag tag OL will stonewall the Eagles....

Eagles should win by 20, and will eek one out by 3.

Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: MDS on November 25, 2009, 11:20:54 PM
no, they are gimmicky.

we all know why they dont wear the kelly greens. that would be thing to see once or twice a year. not a random 3rd jersey that banner and co. can $ off of. farg marketing kelly green 5's would be ill. but that would acknowledge that the franchise existed before lurie's parents bought it for him, so....
Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: Sgt PSN on November 25, 2009, 11:53:05 PM
which is funny because who doesn't think that kelly greens wouldn't outsell the black alternates 100x over?  hell, if they did a kelly green throwback once or twice a year, i bet they'd even outsell the midnight greens.  the eagles would make so much more loot off a kelly green alternate it's not even funny.

kelly green mcnabb, westbrook, pimp, celek, maclin, shady?  uh, yes please.

So MDS who hates on #5 just to suckle on IGY's teet wants  a kelly green 5? Hm.

The Black jersey's are okay, but they only look good with the midnight green pants. Black pants would be pretty sweet.

Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: MDS on November 26, 2009, 02:27:25 PM
those jerseys were awful

they had an excuse to go with the kellys and they didnt. instead they go with the frankford yellow jackets bullshtein. typical lurie. cant even admit they had success before he came along.
Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: Sgt PSN on November 26, 2009, 04:19:15 PM
did the eagles have success before lurie?  was the buddy era more successful than now?  not even close.  was a more likable team and coaching staff, but far less productive in the w/l column and playoff success.

did you read anything i posted?  i already said that doing the kelly green throwbacks as the alternate instead of the black one would not only look better, but they would sell like nobody's business.

the whole "argument" was about a statement mds said about lurie not wanting to acknowledge the "success" of the eagles before he bought the team and i said that this team wasn't really all that successful before lurie bought it.  3 nfl championships 40 years ago doesn't = success.

anyway, point is kelly green alternates would be str8 butta

win or lose he refuses to admit it happened.

doubtful.  people want to leave their own mark on things when they are in charge.  they want their "legacy" to be tied to specific ideas/changes/etc.  in the case of lurie, it's the eagles jersey color and logo.  whether the eagles win a sb or not is almost irrelevent.  50 years from now when the eagles are wearing another colored jersey, the midnight green and logo will be affiliated with lurie's tenure as owner.

he doesn't want to make money off of the old logo and colors because it wasn't his.  the new colors and logo are his and he will always be linked to them from now till infinity.  i seriously doubt he refused to acknowledge the history of this team.  he probably just doesn't care about it because he didn't make any money off of it.  the sad thing about it though is that he also doesn't realize how much loot he could make right now if he did come out with the kelly greens even just one time.

QuoteAmong the biggest challenges this week will be the fact that the Eagles are facing the top red-zone defense in the NFL. Washington has allowed 21 drives in the red zone and only seven touchdowns.

#1 ranked pass defense
tough red zone defense

The Eagles have to commit to the run tomorrow. Even though their secondary can be beaten, their defense has played really well. A throw-fest from Big Red is the wrong way to go after them. Especially with Haynesworth being doubtful.

There are only a few people here like 64 or Susq who might know the homeboy in the last pic, but thats the uni's I was first introduced too, and I've loved them ever since. I like the midnight green ones, but the Kelly green from the late 70's and early 80's are flat out the best uni's I've ever seen in the NFL. Would love too see them brought back. I'd buy the hell outta' them.

QuoteHaynesworth out vs. Eagles
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 29, 2009 9:46 AM ET
Washington taterskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth will be inactive for today's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network is reporting.

Haynesworth, who is listed as questionable with an ankle injury, did make the trip to Philadelphia with the team. But he is apparently going to need to miss his second consecutive game.

After signing a lucrative contract in the off-season, Haynesworth started the taterskins' first nine games, recording three sacks and playing well against the run. But the ankle injury is an ongoing concern.

The 3-7 taterskins take on the 6-4 Eagles at 1 p.m. Eastern.

They probably could have gotten another endzone shot in and still had time for the FG... but McNabb probably would have thrown it to someone at the 10 yard line.

True, but my thinking was that Pro Bowl CB picks seem to be more for guys with allot of picks vs good tacklers.

Exactly.  Remember Larry Brown from the Cowboys?  What did he have? 2 picks in the Super Bowl against the Steelers one of which was a gift from Neil O'Donnell and he cashed in handsomely.  Signed a huge contract with the Raiders and never did a thing the rest of his career.

It was beyond farging stupid.

It was not only completely unnecessary, it was exactly the sort of over-analyzing embarrassment that has consistently been the difference between winning big games and losing them.

Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: MDS on November 29, 2009, 06:44:51 PM
unnecessary is a good word.

the call itself is a good one to go with in a game where you need some sort of fluky break to help win. like a potential playoff game against the saints. this game is not that.
Title: Re: Eagles/taterskins Talk
Post by: Rome on November 29, 2009, 07:08:49 PM
If this pathetic bullshtein team had a seething, bloodthirsty defense I could see them pulling that bullshtein but they don't.  They are totally average in every respect and that's why they keep lousy teams close and get embarrassed by good ones.

Giving a miserable offensive team like the taterskins any help whatsoever is the clinical definition of absolute idiocy.

Yeah that was a bit deflating considering he's been a real bright spot this year. I did see a lot of tape on his left thumb though/they actually showed the trainer taping up his thumb during the 4th corner. Reid didn't do injuries outside of Jackson during his PC though.

1. The on-side kick was stupid. Not the act of leading off the game with one, but doing against a team who is going nowhere fast is stupid. If it fails, and it did, it gives this underdog loser team momentum...which it did.

2. 3rd down defense...farging pitiful

3. Not enough blitzing and playing WAY too soft against their receivers

4. Stupid penalties (AGAIN)

5. McNabb leads another game tying/game winning drive

its not about doing the simple things like leading a drive mid way through the fourth quarter to tie the game against a 3-win team. most qbs can do that. its about doing what vince young did today. its about doing these kinds of things in the playoffs.

i never said mcnabb sucks. he is and was and probably will be a good qb in this league. hes probably going to the hall, if that even means anything in football.

what were talking about here is super bowls. thats the only thing that matters. mcnabb has proven hes not a guy who can win you a super bowl.  the defense sucks, the coach is an idiot. its probably going to stay that way. they wont this year. or next year. its over for him here.

ES is all fired up about the officiating.

To their credit, a few have stepped up and said that every team gets screwed once in awhile and the calls did not cost the Skins the game - only to be shouted down by the bubba's of the board.

It's funny because I haven't seen then mention that

1. Samuel got horsecollared
2. Avant got facemasked TWICE on his long catch down the side line
3. The holding call on Peters where he flung Carter to the ground was bullshtein

Quote"When you have a talented team like we have, every now and then you have to bring that nasty attitude out and if it's a spark by me by what I say, or just maybe my play or even just me being there, that's what I look forward to doing," McNabb said, adding that he couldn't repeat what he said in the huddle in the fourth quarter because there was some colorful language. "And when you look across the board, yes, they are young. But I think they played enough games where they understand how to prepare and what to expect."

Not a leader!

Yes, because Vince Young would have totally won those games.

And what about the GB 4th and 26 game? Or I guess we're just ignoring the times the team wins and giving him no credit, and placing the losses solely on him. I got it.

90% of the QB's in the league fail to come up in big situations constantly....stop thinking that No McNabb = Getting a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Because the odds say that's not going to happen.

McNabb played well this week.

Of course, that's irrelevant because a week-by-week assessment of McNabb at this point in his career serves no purpose.  Anyone who has watched the Eagles the last 10 seasons is aware of the fact that McNabb is capable of playing well for long stretches in a season.

They still aren't winning the SB; McNabb isn't getting younger; McNabb isn't getting better.

it was so funny watching the mcnabb plead with the ref that his arm was going forward and thus they should keep the ball

ummm it was an interception big guy not a fumble and there are still no ties in the superbowl

Regardless, Turner will run rampant on this D.

I doubt it - Turner had 12 carries for only 33 yards against a horrible Bucaneers rush defense. Gonzalez will probably have 20 catches for 236 yards and 3 TDs

My little insight about the onside kick is this.
When this team scores, it doesn't seem like yards-to-goal matters. The big play is obviously not their problem, more like converting third downs, short yardage and red zone. It almost seems like sometimes DJack works better with 70 yards in front of him.
That means that they are taking an obvious risk to alleviate a problem that they don't really have.
I mean it's not that logical, but it just seems like to me that when they score, they can do it from anywhere on the field, and when they don't have it together it doesn't matter what their field position is.
Also, the pattern on special teams this year has been:
suck, suck, suck, Djack! (repeat)
so i don't know why they were so confident that they could get it done.

i think youre overanalyzing it....they tried the onside kick for one reason and one reason only...because they saw something on film that led them to believe it would work

the sad thing is it did work, minus Joe Mays running in front of the play, and touchign the ball, making it bounce wide, and Gocong taking a horrible route towards the ball.  Engineer needs to learn angles
