The Eagles open as a 3-pt favorite, O/U 45.0
Bad playcalling, both MLBs gone for the year, a DT that punched Vai's cousin in the head, a team that can't win on Sunday Night Football and an overrated QB that can't win in prime time. Fun!
Take the under?
sounds like im watching the curb finale
at least we get nbc's awesome HD
I am almost hoping for a humbling loss Sunday night, like 34-10. Maybe Banner will grow a pair and "promote" Reid to GM and hire a new coach...Who is out there? Chuckie, Shanahan, anybody else?

That's pretty much what Dungy has been saying since he retired. He's done with coaching football teams; now he wants to be a personal life coach to losers like Vick
He's going to have the mother of all breakdowns if Vick ever hangs himself.
hopefully part of that breakdown includes blaming andy and murdering him for vicks death
Is anyone else lucky enough to have tickets to this game :-\
Unfortunately the Bears D is pretty bad. Our offense can score; theirs can't. Birds win this game.
The offense can score, if the offense shows up. By that, I mean if McNabb gets the balls to the receivers and they bother to catch them.

The Bears are 10th in the league for yardage allowed and the Eagles ability to score touchdowns hasn't been all that impressive for the past couple games
eagles went touchdownless against the raiders in a half empty colesium...im not writing anything in stone primetime in soldier field
that said they could score 41 or they could score 9
Who knows?? Trying to predict what this team will do at this point in time is like trying to predict the weather. No.....it's easier to predict the weather.
How I'm making all of my Eagles predictions until Reid goes...
Not coincidentally that's how Reid calls the plays.
They just said on Sportsnite that Joe Mays is likely going to start in the middle with Spoon and Gocong on the outside. :-\
I wonder if they are seeing how many combos of LBs and Olines they can come up with?
Never thought I'd be saying this but....they need Akeem Jordan back ASAP
Joe Mays at MLB is leaps and bounds better than Gocong there.

"Who the hell is Shane Miller?!"
That was a great play and won the game for us, Hugh came un touched up the middle :yay
I don't think Cutler has much poise so hopefully he'll throw up some gifts on Sunday night. Hopefully the secondary isn't too banged up and out of position to capitalize on it.
I like the match up because the Bears may be playing worse than the Eagles right now, but I'm never entirely confident until I see the first few possessions of the game to see if there is even a semblance of a balanced attack.

I still remember Olin Kruetz getting in Hugh's face later in the game after Chicago scored. Didn't mean shtein as the birds put a beat down on um'.
From Peter Kings Game Plan
9. Jay Cutler, the Eagles and the Hex of Al Michaels. How will Cutler be greeted by the angry home crowd in Chicago, and how will he perform, on the heels of his five-pick nightmare at San Francisco? Philly's 0-7 on Sunday night since NBC took over the primetime package in 2006. I'm sure Andy Reid cares. Looking on the bright side, though, they're winless with Michaels on Sundays, but unbeaten with Cris Collinsworth.

Getting ready to leave for the game, hopefully Andy and Marty will surprise me with a win.
Eagles - 26
Bears - 17
Red zone woes continue, McNabb and McCoy have strong games on offense while Cole, Witherspoon and Mikell lead the defense.
Quintin Demps
Brian Westbrook
Stacy Andrews
Mike McGlynn
Kevin Curtis
Akeem Jordan
Kevin Kolb
PJ Hill
Macho Harris to return kicks, Sheldon Brown to start.
im a heavy lean towards 41-17 eagles
but im very open to cutler having a breakout game after all the slop hes been throwin up lately
as is the norm for this team theres no in between...its chicago relatively close or close
or its eagles in a rout

Well, the screen pass that they remembered they have isn't working so hot tonight. Maybe they should replace it with a couple of running plays.

That's the game. At the very least, that's it for the Eagles offense.

shady loves carries
the more he carries the better he gets!
dook still hasn't learned a damn thing about ball security though. looking at the replay from the endzone, he was still holding it out there begging for someone to take it.
super drive especially on andys part...beautiful mix of play calls...not just the runs but also the bubble screen and the jab step buttonhook to mack
Great run, great blocking...and great hot read and catch by McNabb and Pimp to move the chains.
Now....its in the defenses hands.

So what you want is his record when he's already blown several opportunities in the game. Probably not very good, if I were to estimate.
im not even trying to attack him here. a little, maybe.
but throw mcnabbs record in that spot against brady, manning, elway, etc. off the top of my head the giants game in 01, 4th and 26 are ones where he did it. but those were both fgs...which is of course all he needed. but thats not the point. anyone got that or wanna dig it up.
Well there's you're problem right there...you keep holding him up to Manning and Brady and Elway and etc....McNabb is one of the better QB's in the NFL right now, but no one is as good as those guys are. When we're old and the rest of this MB is dead, Manning and Brady will be looked at as all time greats of the game. The only other QB in the league right now that might get that distinction is in NO. You might be able to make a case for Warner. Big Ben has two SB rings but how much of that is him and how much of that is the great team/coaching he's had?
But other than that, the other 27 guys have their great moments and their POS moments...Hell, even Roflburger looks like pure dog shtein sometimes. Or look at Warner when he had no Oline and a mediocre supporting cast in NYG. McNabb had more great moments earlier in his career, but he still is better than most and the constant bashing he takes because he's not a sure fire HOFer and needs a little help from the guys around him/better playcalling from the coach is a bit over the top. Not everyone is Brady or Manning, and there's only going to be 2 or 3 of those types of guys a generation.
you lost me at mcnabb is one of the better qbs in the nfl right now. fresh off his first good game since the giants, good spot to bring it up.
but no, he is what he is. but qbs are judged on exactly that: 4th qtr drives to win and rings. it aint gonna get done 100% of the time, but mcnabb NEVER does it. never won a bowl. never been a guy to pull a comeback/give you that drive. and thats what hes gonna be remembered for.
that and being a bitch.
The only people who call McNabb are a bitch are delusional Philly fans like you and IGY who are convinced he holds some sort of grudge and losses on purpose.
lol at him not being one of the better QB's in the league right now. After that top 4 or 5, you've got Rivers, McNabb, Palmer, Rodgers, Flacco, Eli, Romo, Cutler, Hasselbeck, Schaub, etc.....only one of those guys has a ring, and all have failed to come back before. For the record, Eli had 10 come from behind wins before this year started. But that was going into the 4th quarter, not your has to be the last drive of the game stat, of which I do not know.
Add those 10 guys to the Manning/Brady/Brees/Warner/Big Ben, throw in Brett Favre even though he's in the league for another year tops...and you've got the top 16 QB's in the league. When McNabb's on AND when the coach is calling a good game, he's better than all of em (not counting Manning/Brady/etc). But none of those guys are going to win a SB by himself. Eli had Plaxico Burress and what amounted to be the best D line (and oline?) in the NFL when he won it. Oh, and also a competent running game that was used.
Lol at the thought of some of those QB's in an offense that passes 45 times a game every game and up until now had no body to throw to outside of stop drop and roll Lewis and TO for a year. and lol at you if you think McNabb is the worst out of that bunch.
McNabb is barely= top 10 right now. QBs better than McNabb right now:
Brady, Peyton, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Palmer, Favre, Warner. Maybe Rodgers and Schaub. By right now I mean right this minute this season. You can't assume McNabb will catch fire in the second half, and the past doesn't matter either. Right now he's not accurate and rushes way too many throws. Also he sees the field very poorly.

That would put Mcnabb at 11. Which would make him one of the better QB's in the NFL.
And unfortunately for the Cards Warner borrowed Westbrook's head today.
Considering the majority of the QBs suck in this league, 11 isn't that great. Not good enough to win anything anyway.
But if you want to label him as 11/32 and think that being better than half of the league is a good thing, go right ahead. It won't change the fact that you'll continue to be disappointed every year with him as the QB. He just isn't good enough anymore.
That's exactly the point. Everyone bitches about McNabb but doesn't stop and look around and realize that about half the QB's in the league absolutely suck, and 2/3rds of what's left are about on par with McNabb. I don't blame anyone for wanting a Manning or a Brady, but getting rid of McNabb isn't guaranteeing that we're going to get that guy on the Eagles. In fact, looking at the league and the amount of suck there is at the quarterback position, there's a better chance the team spends years in turmoil with zesty QB's every year. No thank you.
I don't get disappointed in him because I know he's not going to win it all with this coach. The Oline has been shotty all year, but they seem to be gelling now. The defense has also been suspect, but if fat boy stops trying to make Donovan into Peyton Manning and calls a balanced game/plays that favor McNabb like he did tonight, then they can win it. They've certainly got the skill players to do it finally, after passing 45 times a game to guys like James Thrash.
Of course no one is getting by NO or Indy or even the Vikes this year so it doesn't really matter.
If you aren't going to win a SB anyway, then what is the difference? It is better to look for that other QB. I'd love to see what Kolb can do is a full-time starter. Being mediocre is just as bad as being in turmoil if you have the right people around to turn it around.
and if you draft right, then you can find that QB real quick. Look at the Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, etc.
holy shtein you two morons can't kill yourselves fast enough.
I count at least four people here that should do the world a favor.
Am I part of the Fantastic Four?

I wonder how hungover shorebird is today...

Wow, you're as pathetic as monk and his hate for JRoll...and you know it.
its not as pathetic. hes alone on the jrol hate train. and that track leads to nowhere because jimmy has mvp awards, gold gloves and a little something called a title ring to back up his name.
mcnabb has a lifetime supply of coming up short, chokes, crying, pouting, puking, whining and acting like a dork.
mcnabb necking cutler was so uncomfortable. all cutler wanted was to get to the locker room and mcnabb was that creepy friend who tells the longest story ever when your trying to get somewhere

Oh look, another hate McNabb session!
I was at a friends last night and he was saying to me that I am awfully hard on McNabb. He should read some of the stuff here if he thinks that. I just said bottom line he has had multiple choke jobs and that when he has been given the opportunity to make plays in big spots he hasn't come through.
MDS getting his panties in a twist over McNabb is like having a toy poodle bark at a burglar. You know there's something wrong, but all you really want to do is kick the dog.
I just laugh at idiots like MDS who think guys who are 7-3 and 6-4 other places (Romo, Rivers, etc) would somehow be 9-1 here and would have won a superbowl with James Thrash and Todd Pinkston outside and a coach who calls 45+ pass plays a game. Hell, Rivers hasn't even been able to do it with Gates and LT and a relatively effective and USED run game. Lmfao at Eli being in this offense in 2002-2003.
Of course McNabb has lost big games and shown up small in big moments. So has every other QB not named Brady or Peyton Manning in the NFL. Hell, before Peyton finally broke through a few years ago he was seen as the biggest choke artist there was.
its mcnabb/reid fatigue. also i dont like it when my qb acts like a 12 year old girl.
The 12yr old chicks are the clowns who bitch about McNabb. There's some on the PhilaPhans board who said it wasnt a true comeback because there was 6 minutes left and McCoy ran the ball in. And another who said it should be discounted because the deficit was only three.
But they are the same who bitch when he brings 'em back when behind by 10+ and say it was because of a prevent defense.
The deficit was only three? Oh no, that means the touchdown was to win instead of tie! Man, that McNabb is such a loser.
did shore wake up yet?
If McNabb had ever won anything of consequence in his eleven farging years in the league then I might be a bit more tolerant of his choking, pouting, worm-burning bullshtein week after week.

I think the stuff about the way McNabb acts is totally blown out of proportion. His act is definitely is wearing thin, but isn't as bad as some make it. Reid on the other hand should be executed.

This. Great post Joe.
It's sad that Eagles fans have to get excited about small comebacks like last night against bad teams when you see a team like the Saints come back from like 14 points one week and 21 the other. Then you see Peyton Manning come back against an elite Patriots team.
I guess you have to take what you can when you can, but the upper tier teams are so far superior to the Eagles, it is ridiculous.

Jeffrey Lurie left a message on my phone today. He said if I didn't get excited about the win over the Bears, he would cut Weaver and give Trotter a 3 year extension.

It was RJS.
In that case, I'm going to call his bluff.

did shore wake up yet?
I was up till I found out it was raining, mercifully raining.
I thought the big diff in the Chicago game was the fact Reid ran the ball 26 times not counting the 4 times Dmac ran it. Weaver ran the ball only 4 times? Seemed like more. McCoy had 20 carries for 99 yards and a TD. How can this not continue?? I'll say this, with Bwest at the stage of his career that he's in now, I don't feel this team loses anything with McCoy starting. The man has some moves, and can easily break away when he gets in the open field. He's very comparable to a young Bwest too me.
But we've all seen it happen before, one good game called and then the next game it goes right back to pass pass pass. So I'm not at all excited about beating the friggen' Bears, they were supposed too. Run the table and then I'll take some notice.
I'm still a little pissed that 3 2 1/2 months ago I'm reading how igy's going too take my money and now all of a sudden there is not bet after 4 years of the same bet. I have too wonder if it would be different if the Skins didn't suck ass so bad.
I'd feel pretty good about the chances they win the superbowl this year if the defense wasn't so banged up.
This offense is only going to get better.

Truth. Maclin is making great strides for a rookie. Celek is turning out to be one of the better TE's in the league. Only thing holding them back is thier coach.

You're delusional.
Do you even read what I post anymore or do you just copy and paste half wit generic sentences in response automatically?
even with a defense at 100% manpower, i will never feel comfortable about this team winning a super bowl as long as andy reid is on the sidelines. i have my doubts about mcnabb because he has the weapons and still can't get the ball to them accurately but i'll still take my chances with him. but reid alone nullifies any potential greatness this team could achieve.
^^^^^^^
Pretty much how I feel about it.
This team is going nowhere with this MASH unit we have for a defense. I can't see this team beating the Saints or Vikings to do anything of consequence.
What are they going to do with a healthy defense? They have no playmakers, outside of Samuel occasionally making a pick.

yeah because the skins have been so awesome all the years we made the bet....in fact never once when we made the bet were the skins supposed to be even close to as good as the eagles...yet i still agreed to it straight up every year
and theres never been a year where we didnt send back and forth multiple PM's making the bet and making it a lock...if you were so worried about it how come you havent uttered a word all year about till a couple weeks after the eagles beat the skins and a couple days before they play again...
how bout a PM the night before the season started saying are we gonna do it again...how about a PM the night before the first skins game being like yo we on?...nope nothing until a drunken rampage 48 hrs ago...youre a fraud of the highest degree...and even after your embarrassing display i still offered to bet on sundays game and you came back with wanting to bet on best record this year...whod make the playoffs this year and you wanted me to pay up on the first game ALREADY PLAYED...lolol

Disagree. Bradley would have been a factor this year (no way to prove but IMO). Sheldon Brown, when healthy, is a playmaker.
Sheldon is more of a playstopper than a playmaker. Still useful for a defense to have, but he's not going to have a lot of highlights.

But whatever, it's plain to see it's a dead issue with you, so I'll wait 'till next year, but don't act like it wasn't ever brought up. I'll make the bet now for next year, no reason to have to really hash any details out as it has been the same bet year after year.

But I think shore just proved he mentioned it more than a few days ago.
