this was a guy in my espn fantasy draft last night...maybe the most classic draft ever.  i was trashing the guy the whole time in the draft chat, with no response from him.  he finally gets on at the end and tells me to farg myself and it's his first draft...ha

Solid roster.

I picked Pierre Thomas in the 3rd round of my money league, mainly because RB pickings were slim at the time. But I am nervous about that one.

fantastic you have 2 studs receivers, but an unknown in Moreno and an ok Pierre as your RB 1 and 2 is pretty unsettling

if its PPR, you "might" be ok

Dear Concretefield,

Recently, I went up to the mountains over the weekend and stayed in a cabin with a bunch of friends. We drank lots of Dos Equis beer and ate a lot of Doritos.

I had a lot of gas, I mean, record breaking, ozone layer depleting gas. Did the altitude have something to do with it?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Gassy

Reggie Bush vs. Detriot, or
Kevin Smith vs. NO?

And same team...

Laveranues Coles vs. Denver, or
Torry Holt vs. Indy, or
Chris Chambers vs. Oakland

It is a PPR league.

Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Munson on September 10, 2009, 05:52:30 PM
Yeah, I'm not extremely happy with my team. If Bush stays healthy at all and Jones builds on his year last year, I should be fine at RB (Westy is my other back, and I handcuffed McCoy to him).

My top two WR's are beasts, but I put off drafting Eddie Royal in round 5 to get McNabb, then he got picked up before I could get him. Pimp went the same round as Royal, so I ended up having that zesty trio of WR's to pick from for my #3 spot every week.

i'd give up

Steven Jackson
Vikings D

for

deangelo williams
Donovan McNabb
Eagles D

My qbs are Matt Hasselbeck and Carson Palmer.  I'm leaning towards hell yes, but I like to marinate on these things for a day or so.

Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 13, 2009, 12:34:40 AM
I'd be all over that.

And I'm in a small bad spot tomorrow...

Pierre Thomas is out, and my other options to start alongside Gore are Beanie Wells or Larry Johnson. I'm going with Johnson despite him playing the Ravens simply because I know he will start.

WW :CF D?

I got rocked because my opponent had Brees, who dropped 53 points.--------
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Munson on September 14, 2009, 02:58:51 AM
My opponent had the Eagles D and Shockey....that was pretty much enough thanks to me taking out Smith and putting Bush in....and getting pretty much shtein from my D, Kicker, Boldin, and Coles. I havn't even looked to see what Olsen did, but I'm sure judging by the score it was nothing.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition

So I'm trying to figure out which Indy WR to pick up....Garcon or Austin Collie. Either way, in that offense they should be an improvement over Coles/Holt.

two roster decisions i have:

3rd wideout:  percy harvin vs detroit or santana moss vs st. louis.  both going up against bad defenses.  moss has the disadvantage in qb.  leaning towards harvin

te:  owen daniels against tenn or celek.  leaning towards celek due to daniels matchup.  also think that celek could be a security blanket for kolb.  also think though that they could run the ball a lot and not throw to protect kolb.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: reese125 on September 18, 2009, 10:57:37 AM
both TE's will be security blankets for each qb...moreso for Kolb because its the easier outlet. I would prob go Daniels just because of the rapport with Schaub and he works the midde of the field for bigger gains

I will never trust any skins receivers until Campbell can show he can consistently throw the ball, but I do think the game will be close than people think so Moss could see alot of opps. Harvin could be very limited because how Minnesota will control the clock on the ground. toss a coin

Pick a RB to start in a PPR league:

Reggie Bush vs. PHI
Kevin Smith vs. TENN
Joseph Addai vs. Miami
Carnell Williams vs. BUF
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Sgt PSN on September 18, 2009, 01:55:43 PM
bush and addai are the 2 best recieving backs out of the bunch.  probably cant go wrong with either but bush will probably have more passes thrown his way than he'll get carries.  addai will see a little of both but will carry much more than he catches.

leaning towards bush.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Munson on September 18, 2009, 02:01:18 PM
Yeah, especially since he seems to have success against Philly's D. I'm just kicking myself for starting him over Smith last week.

I think Addai's going to have a bounce back year, but I like Miami's defense this year. Caddy could have a good game against Buffalo, but he's not gonna catch many balls out of the backfield with Ward there.

in my big money keeper league, i had brees, gore, chris johnson, and ronnie brown among others that led me to a record setting week.  in a league where $8 or $9 is a great week (we keep score in monetary figures) i racked up farging $17.50.  yay me.

Carson Palmer vs. PIT
Kevin Kolb vs KC

I can scoop Kolb up for a fill in and I am thinking about it since he dropped 33 points in my money league last weekend. Palmer also got me 33, but this week he is facing PIT.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Sgt PSN on September 25, 2009, 12:18:06 AM
pit can't run and control the clock which should allow cincy to get plenty of offensive possessions, their d-line has 2 sacks so far and isn't generating a lot of pressure and the bengals have physical recievers who can stand up to pitts physical corners, especially without hair palomalu lurking around.

and if you don't buy that argument, then i'll go the other way and say that cincy is likely to be playing from behind which means more passing attempts for palmer.  the eagles should be ahead which might mean less attempts for kolb.

not to mention that palmer is a good qb and kolb isn't.

Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: Sgt PSN on September 25, 2009, 02:55:07 PM
he'll never rely on the run, but he tends to get more conservative with the lead in the 2nd half.  and teams usually make solid adjustments against reid in the 2nd half and when he tries to throw the ball, they are better prepared.  we've seen it time and time again.

in any case though, even questioning palmer vs kolb is about as fantasy dumb as it gets.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 26, 2009, 11:32:03 PM
Not really...because as much of a fan I'm not of Kolb, he threw up 33 points last week. And the Chiefs don't exactly scream offensive juggernaut.

And I'm in another tight spot at RB...I have Gore as my top guy.

I've been hit by injuries at the other spot though. I have Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell, Larry Johnson and Glen Coffee.

Coffee was obviously drafted as the handcuff to Gore.

My options for tomorrow are Thomas against Buffalo or Johnson against the Eagles.

Thomas' knee is just getting healthy and he will likely split time with Bush and Lynell Hamilton.

So who would you take?

Thomas or Johnson

Westbrook vs. TB or Ronnie Brown vs. Jets

Manningham vs OAK or Lee Evans vs. CLE

This is a PPR league which along with an awesome matchup makes me like Westbrook, but I'm always scared knowing every hit he takes may be his last for the game. If Brown wasn't going agains one of the better defenses he'd get the start especially since players in primetime games seem to do better. I'm also worried that Brown is due for a bad game.

I'm thinking Evans, but really know that I need to upgrade my final WR position (Andre Johnson and Steve Smith-CAR are the other two starters). What WR should I target with either Flacco or McNabb as trade bait

these are my wideouts:  steve smith (carolina), TO, braylon edwards, hakeem nicks, mike sims-walker, and santana moss.

pick 3...i'm thinking TO (because of matchup with Cleveland), Braylon Edwards (because of new team and Cotchery being hurt) and Sims-Walker (Garrard's #1 target)

I picked up Maclin in another league.

Pretty much guarantees a minus yardage day from him.

Awesome.

I'm winning now by one in my $$ league. problem is, the opponent still has Peyton and Chris Johnson.

Pimp got me 1 point
Calvin Johnson got pulled for injury
Carlson has two catches despite SEA racking up 41

farg. >:(

that was a hell of a call with an early pick of Cedric Benson in the CF draft Phreak...that boy dominated the Ravens

Thanks. But I sat his ass today.

Figured the Ravens would eat him up.

Not that it matters. You get off the schnide against me :boo

I'm tied 116-116 in my main league, he has the Miami defense.

Here's hoping the Jets put up 45+

Mike Sims-Walker against St. Louis

or

Santana Moss against KC

choose!

Mike Sims-Walker against St. Louis

I'd go with Sims-Walker as well

Westbrook @ OAK
or
Lynch @ NYJ
or
Bradshaw @ NO

So far I'm going with Westbrook, but he only had 6 carries last week and wasn't really used in the passing game either.

If you have a PPR league, I would consider Lynch because Trent Edwards refuses to throw the ball down the field. They call him Captain Checkdown for a reason. The only problem is that BUF OL may not be able to open many holes against the Jets front 7.

I think Bradshaw is the most appealing there. He's turning himself into a pretty damn good player. Mike Lombardi compared him to Charlie Garner on NFLN the other night.

Here's my question:

Torry Holt vs. Rams

or

Nate Washington vs. New England

This decision will be based on whether Calvin Johnson starts or not.

Torry Holt, it is supposed to rain in NE.

Lee Evans vs. NYJ in the rain
or
Chris Chambers vs. denver.

Calvin Johnson isn't starting so Holt vs. is former team is an appealing matchup.

Chambers. Lee Evans is that bad

Alright here's what I'm looking at

my WR's:
Randy Moss
Anquan Boldin
Mike Sims-Walker
Steve Smith (NYG)
Jeremy Maclin

My RB's:
Joseph Addai
Brian Westbrook/LeSean McCoy
Carnell Williams
Kevin Smith

One guy said he'll give me Moreano for one of my WR's (Moss is the only one I put off limits), so I was thinking I'd offer him Sims-Walker for Knowshon straight up....another ugy just offered me Steve Slaton for Steve Smith.....I countered with Sims-Walker and Caddy for Slaton....If he doesn't except, should I go Smith for Slaton? I figure with the amount of times McCoy will get the rock and the way Addai has bounced back this year, I may actually be okay at RB....but if the masses here think Knowshon or Slaton would be an upgrade.....I know Slaton lost the starting job but that won't last past this week, if it even lasts this week. But I have 5 WR's that could be starting and we only start 3 guys, so I'd like to get at least a Solid RB2 out of one of them.

Playoffs in my money league start this weekend.

The teams in first place but I have a decision to make today.

Big Ben tonight against Cleveland

Need an RB2: Barber, Maroney, Snelling, or Norwood? I'm thinking Barber but goddamn his production has been weak this season.

And King Jerry has been talking about how he needs to be "the closer" like before, and not the starter. So Garrett, who always listens to what the media and Jones say, will likely work him like that. Choice (who has been grousing about carries) and Felix first and the Barber to close it if they have a lead.

I'd lean Maroney, but they have 63 running backs up in New England.

I don't believe that Barber is going to close for a second, and I think Dallas is going to keep the ball on the ground a lot against SD. But Barber's production has just been so flat... Maroney has more upside. Might do nothing but might have 2 TDs too.

This might be Maroney's last hurrah too. Guess I'll roll with him.

fwiw, maroney scored at least 1 td/game for like 5 weeks straight because being held out of the endzone last week against miami.  in other words, he's been scoring a lot lately and the pats have been going to him in the red zone.

Because of injuries look like I have to play Eagles WR's today.

Jackson  - no brainer
Maclin or Avant - which one for the number 3 spot?

Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition

With the weather and attention on 10 and 18, I'd go with Avant.
Title: Re: Ask Concretefield 2009 edition

maclin caught 1 or 2 td's last time against the giants so they might be paying a little more attention to him this time around.  but he is a starter and will probably get more opportunites to score than avant will so i'd probably go with him.
