I got into a low money $30 per person, 12 team league...this is my roster. I was the 12th pick.
QB
Donnie Mac
Matt Ryan
RB
Larry Johnson
Chris Johnson
Clinton Portis
Ahmad Bradshaw
Chester Taylor
Fred Taylor
WR
Roddy White
Braylon Edwards
Hines Ward
Mushin Muhammad
TE
Carlson (TE from Seattle)
D
San Diego
K
Kris Brown
What does the Fantasy Footbal braintrust opine?
4th place.
standard roster each week? qb, 2rb, 2wr, te, rb/wr i assume.
if that's the case, then you need to try and get at least 1 fantasy stud at rb and wr.
^^^Same. I'm looking at your team trying to figure out who the hell your first pick was....it had to be Portis. At that point would have been better off snagging one of the top WR's then going RB-RB in the next two rounds.
Definitely Chris Johnson in the first and Portis/Roddy White in the second/third.
I did Chris Johnson/Clinton Portis.
Moss was still available...but...there really wasn't going to be any top running backs left 20 some picks later...so I figured I could still pick up something decent at receiver.
1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1WR/RB, 1TE, 1K, 1Def....that's the format.
I'm also hoping that San Diego could get me some extra points with the return of large neck.
Johnson is a huge question mark. If Portis is healthy is a guaranteed stud but he's getting older so that might not be guaranteed. Your team isn't bad but it is likely to just be steady and unspectacular all season.
larry johnson could bounce back and have a solid season as well, in which case a johnson/portis fantasy backfield would be boner inducing. but both have big question marks surrounding them.
you probably would have been better served taking moss if he was still available at 12.
In hindsight...you are both correct.
I'll try my hand at this.
As you all know I normally gloat and strut after my drafts whether my teams are any good or not. My money league team this year, though, has me less than thrilled. As such I'm posting it here to elicit your thoughts and ridicule. The league has 2 RBs, 1 WR, 2 W/T, 1 K, 1 TMD
1. (2) Michael Turner
2. (23) Calvin Johnson
3. (26) Greg Jennings
4. (47) Darren McFadden
5. (50) Marshawn Lynch
6. (71) Matt Ryan
7. (74) Knowshon Moreno
8. (95) Beanie Wells
9. (98) Owen Daniels
10. (119) San Diego
11. (122) Chris Chambers
12. (143) Chad Pennington
13. (146) Kevin Curtis
14. (167) Robbie Gould
i sent you one via pm that you never responded to, i was sad for a long time
what is a TMD
well by the looks of his roster.....take a guess...maybe team defense? call me.
yeah i just realized what it was
team D + (2) flex positions + just (1) wr = drop out of league
Insightful as always.

i don't know which sucks harder. the type of league you're in or the roster.
Wayne?
Just checking.
had my final draft last night in my keeper league, 8 teams, keep 4 players (voted down to 3 starting next year and only 1 at each position). we play 1 qb, 3rb, 3wr, te, k, d, and st
my team:
qb - brees (k)
qb - palmer
rb - gore (k)
rb - chris johnson (k)
rb - ronnie brown
rb - cedric benson
rb - jamal lewis
rb - glenn coffee
rb - jerome harrison
wr - steve smith
wr - TO
wr - braylon edwards
wr - antonio bryant
wr - santana moss
wr - josh morgan
wr - hakeem nicks
te - tony gonzalez
te - chirs cooley
k - jason elam
k - rian lindell
d - green bay
d - pats
st - baltimore
st - green bay
the team who won the league last year is two guys, and only one could make it. so he's trying to use the computer program that the other guy usually uses to make picks. you enter each pick in as it's made and the computer tells you the best possible pick at your spot. well, his spot comes up in the 1st round, and he reads the rankings wrong and picks....Peyton Hillis. he asked for a re-do, we told him to farg off, and he fumed the rest of the night. good times.
I wouldn't expect your WRs to carry your team if I were you
it's not a ppr league, and yardage isn't rewarded that much. it's td focused, so i figured i'm ok have 3 guys who are #1s
the only problem with your recievers is that delhomme, edwards and quinn are the qb's throwing to them.
yeah, i hear you on that. definitely a downfall.
thinking about it, since it's not a ppr league, you might not be that bad off. to and edwards are good red zone targets so they could still catch their fair share of td's this year.
it's a toss up really. your recievers could be gold or crap. the rest of your roster is nice, although you might want to try and add a 4th rb since you play 3 at a time....unless you plan on jam lewis being your bye week back.
This is my money-league team (12 teams, 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 WR, 2 W/T, K, D). I literally have no idea what to think of it.
QB: Cutler, Roethlisberger
RB: R. Rice, Forte, Spiller, R. Williams
W/T: Marshall, Jennings, Owens, Celek, Berrian, Breaston
K: Gould
D: Miami
Had an early pick in a 12 man league which led to big gaps between picks...
serpentine, right?
Correct. Oops, forgot to include Celek.
I'm not gonna say shtein about your team because who knows.
I like Ricky Williams.
I rated Cutler and Forte higher this year working on the assumption that neither of them are actually as bad as they were last year. That whole thing could very easily blow up in my face.
And of course you like Ricky Williams.
F-
How anyone could not like Ricky, I'll never understand.
i agree, seems like a good dude to hang with.
Ok...2010 money league PPR. 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB 1 W/R 1 TE 1 D 1 K
1. Ray Rice
2. CJ Spillers
3. Deangelo Williams
4. Tony Romo
5. Vernon Davis
6. Donald Driver
7. Josh Cribbs
8. Percy Harvin
9. Santonio Holmes
10. Ladanian Tomlinson
11. Alex Smith
12. Cincinnatti
13. Neil Rackers
14. Sydney Rice
Sucky? I farged up and passed up on Greg Jennings and picked Vernon Davis. I should shoot myself in the pee-er.
Vernon Davis will have more td's than Jennings and will probably be within 300-400 yds receiving. Total points wise, they'll probably be relatively close at the end of the year, which is good production coming from the TE. Not to mention that you already have Donald Driver. Why take 2 receivers from the same team? So you're good there.
Where you farged up was drafting Tony Romo in the 4th round. I can't imagine that he was the best available QB that early on unless you've got like 14 people in your league.
Holmes probably could have been a waiver pick up since he's out the first 4 games. And Sanchez hasn't looked that great during preseason so it'll be interesting to see what kind of production Holmes has when he does come back. Sidney Rice is on the PUP list and is out a minimum of 6 weeks and would have definitely sat on the waiver wire. Percey Harvin has headaches. Josh Cribbs had 20 catches and 1 td last year and you took him in the 7th round of a PPR league. Think about that. So there's 3, maybe even 4 players that would have been passed by everyone that you used draft picks on. You got great value with Rackers in the 13th round and he has a chance to put up a lot of points with Houston's offense.
The autodraft did a better job for Phreak in the Keeper League than you just did.
You are probably right...but Romo was the best QB, points wise, at that point.
My receiver selection is zesty.
i had my 8 team keeper draft on Tuesday, we keep 3 players and my keeps were Brees, AP, and Turner.
it's a 20 position roster with individual ST and defesnse. also there is no TE position, they are just played as wideouts
my team looks like this
qb - Brees, Kolb
rb - AP, Turner, Shady, Portis, Slaton, Cadillac, and Justin Forsett
wr - Brandon Marshall, Ochocinco, Dallas Clark, Harvin, Breaston, Steve Smith (car), and Vincent Jackson
k - Brionas, Viniateri
d - Packers, Patriots
st - Eagles, Lions
Legit. What are you allowed to start each week? Also, did you have to give up a 1st round pick to get Steve Slaton?

slaton was a 17th round pick i believe
we start: 1qb, 3rb, 3wr/te, 1k, 1d, 1st
8 team leagues are pretty ghey. Every team should look stacked. I think your receivers kind of suck for an eight-teamer.
And separate D and ST? Ultra-ghey.
I like the idea of splitting the D and ST....just adds a slightly new twist to everything. Of course, it's no surprise that your crusty, white, rich, old ass fears change.
That was mean. I'm sorry. I could just delete it before posting.....but I won't.

Your ass = crustier, older, and whiter
And I may have more money than you but am certainly not rich by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm probably the poorest person on this board. U gif me cash?
That would be interesting to know.
My wife is a nurse so we aren't the poorest of anyone I think.
How would poorness be rated? Lowest net or gross?
net of course
but the greater the gulf between your gross and your net, the lesser the sympathy
yay tax code

So far I am looking like a goddamned genius.
$100 league. I originally had the 12th pick overall, but traded it for the 3rd pick overall but I had to give up my 4th round pick.
1-QB
2-RB
2-WR
1-WR/RB
1-TE
1-K
1-Def
1st- Chris Johnson
2nd- Maurice Jones Drew
3rd- Peyton Hillis
5th- Matt Schaub
6th- Kenny Britt
7th- Chad Ochocinco
8th-Owen Daniels
9th-Chicago D
10th- Mike Sims-Walker
11th-Malcolm Floyd
12th-Ladaniam Tomlinson
13th-Braylon Edwards
14th-Michael Bush
15th-Ryan Longwell
(#12th's 15th round pick)- Matt Hasselbeck
not bad
I never take a D that early
who went 1 and 2? Adrian and Arian?
Yup. If I remember correctly, Peyton Manning went 4th...dude picked like 3 colts on his team...including Austin Collie...between the 3rd and 5th rounds.
I know.
Your starting WRs could either be excellent or completely blow. But the RB's are pretty damn good. Owen Daniels should be good if he stays healthy.
Rate one of my 2 teams...10 teamer auction draft, the first year we're making it a keeper league. We usually do the draft in person but had to do it online this year. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, a W/R/T Flex, K, Def. PPR league. Guys cost 10% more then what you got them for in the draft to keep next year.
QB-Peyton Manning ($17)
RB-LeSean McCoy ($50)
RB-LaGarrette Blount ($21)
WR-Larry Fitzgerald($46)
WR-Percy Harvin($7)
WR-Mike Thomas($5)
TE-JerMichael Finley($14)
Flex-Mark Ingram($13)
K-Alex Henery ($2)
D/ST-Eagles ($4)
Bench-Tony Romo ($12)
Bench-C.J. Spiller ($4)
Bench-Michael Bush ($1)
Bench-Sidney Rice ($1)
Bench-Antonio Brown ($1)
Bench-Garrett Hartley ($1)
Bench-Rob Gronkowski ($1)
I already dropped Gronkowski to pick up Kendall Hunter, and Hartley to pick up Deion Branch
I had to pick 2nd overall in a standard format league. I took Foster, because I couldn't bring myself to trust either Ray Rice or Jamaal Charles to score the same over the course of the season. I'm kinda having buyer's remorse right now.
Probably because I'm starting Knowshon Moreno and Tim Hightower this week. FML.
At least my receiver corp (H Nicks, M Wallace, M Williams (TB), J Jones (ATL), M Sims-Walker, S Smith (PHI)) is solid.
I like Rice because:
a.) his QB has Boldin in the middle and Lee Evans down field to keep the D back a bit
b.) he can catch as well as any back
c.) Vonte Leach was brought in as his lead blocker...I think I could gain a few yards with Leach leading the way
d.) the #2 RB is Ricky Williams who picks up the blitz better than anyone I can think of, giving Flacco time to dump the ball to Rice.
I think he has his best year yet this year
Would've won if I'd drafted Rice.
Here's hoping Arian gets back this week.
I drafted Matt Schaub as my QB in my fantasy team and Eli Manning is my back up.
I have two sacks of shtein as WR's. I was just offered Mike Williams for Eli Manning.
I'm super retardo if I don't trade, right?
mike williams has been horrible this year
I have Victor Cruz, Devon Bess, Ochocinco, and Lance Moore as my WR's.

You're super retardo if you do make that trade. I drafted Williams in our keeper league this year and finally dropped him after 5 weeks. This was his production:
1. 11.00
2. -0.4
3. 4.30
4. 6.90
5. 0.80
----------
Total - 22.6
Manning is good for that in a single game. So yeah, don't make that trade. Dude needs to offer you some more players. You never trade a good fantasy QB for any single player straight up...unless it's AP or Arian Foster or someone like that. If that dude wants Sheli (which tells me that his QB situation is not great) then you need to get his top WR and another player.
