With only one pre-season game in the books it may be a bit early but hey anybody can get it right the first week in sept. I'm not going to try and go position by position but rather I'll list some of my favorites at spots that are a bit crowded but that particular player seems to be making a case for himself.
First and foremost: Eldra Buckley. Westy and Shady are givens but between Buckley and Booker who gets the nod.
Booker kind of fits the mold of the type of player the Eagles like to have at RB but he just hasn't shown up. He had the nice catch on rthe sidelines but can probably be exploited in pass- pro.
On the other hand, Buckley is physical, has good vision, can catch the football, and makes something happen everytime he touches the footbal and the Eagles have been looking for a "big back" the last couple years. With what he has flashed during camp and this first pre-season game I doubt he makes the practice squad.
Second: Brandon Gibson/Shaheer McBride. I can imagine a case can be made for either of these guys but the Eagles will most likely keep no more than 6 at this position. Every year it seems that Reid&Co. throw in a little surprise in order to shake things up could this be the year that Basket is shown the door?
Third: Moise Fokou Its a bit crowded at Lb even with the shuffling the Eagles will have to make in the absence of Bradley. He has shown good athleticism and and has great size reminds me a little of Emmons.
Well that's all I've got right now.
I feel like Booker had his shot last year (albeit limited attempts) and wasn't able to produce. Buckley might not produce anything either but deserves a shot. He's done everything he could possibly do so far to win the spot.
If Gibson keeps on rolling I wouldn't shed a tear if they cut Reggie Brown. Think we've pretty much seen all we need to see from him.
Buckley should get the knod over booker simply because you don't need 3 smaller backs.
Neither of them will ever see the field unless the team is in a world of hurt. So I'm tossing out a great big who cares.

Buckley is the shortest of the four and barely weighs more than Westbrook.
Power runner compared to booker who gets knocked down by a gust of wind
If you threw chewing gum on the field and Booker stepped in it he would get stuck, it wouldn't even stretch.
Eckel and Kleco are on the team still. Drop pronto

a few cuts made, Babin signed to a new deal
PFT:
QuoteEagles make some moves
Posted by Mike Florio on September 4, 2009 7:26 PM ET
Though the fates of quarterback A.J. Feeley, receiver Reggie Brown, and receiver Kevin Curtis remain undecided, the Eagles have cut a trio of other players -- and they have signed a fairly new arrival to a new deal.
The team announced earlier today that tight end Eugene Bright, linebacker Curtis Gatewood, and defensive tackle Willie Williams have been released.
The Eagles separately have announced that defensive end Jason Babin, a one-time first-round pick of the Texans, has signed a new deal to replace the contract Babin signed with the team on August 4.
The terms of the new contract aren't known. Though it's looking increasingly likely that the salary cap will disappear next year, the Eagles might be covering their bases by pushing some excess 2009 space into next year via the addition of a bogus incentive to Babin's deal.
Regardless, the fact that the team has chosen to do business with Babin today suggests that, of the 19 moves the team needs to make by 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Babin won't be going anywhere.
I'm really surprised to see Curtis' name mentioned there... unless they're insinuating that he may be traded. I can't imagine that he doesn't make the team.
florio is a complete moron thats why his name is there...wed all be better people if we never read him again
How the farg are they gonna cut Curtis? If not for Pimp he'd be the best receiver on the team. I mean, I wouldn't put it past the Eagles to cut him, but I doubt even they would be that stupid.
Probably confusing him with Tony Curtis.
i just realized dio emboldened every word in that article except the part about kevin curtis getting cut
way to bury the lead errand runner
lol thank you shirley povich
and its lede, not lead
first florio is a fool, then I'm a fool for not highlighting a fool's uninformed comment...right
you're a caricature of yourself, congrats.
obviously Curtis isn't going anywhwere, obviously Florio is mistaken or stirring shtein for fun

Florio probably picked it up from Reuben Frank.
He floated the idea in the paper the other day.

Notes on Roster: They could make a suprise move and either cut K. Curtis or release H. Baskett and Keep D. Amendola
5 corner goes to D. Patterson because he is on all four special temas units.
They keep on 3 DTS cause, Howard / Abdimiri / Parker play DT on passing downs any way.
Schefter says Klecko was released
NOOOOOoooooooooo!
What am I going to do with my four Klecko jerseys now?
Cry while you jerk off into them?
Should have cut Laws.
Ikegwuonu and Bryan Smith are gone
Feeley stays (for now)
2008 is going to turn out to be a disaster draft for the Eagles other than Jackson.
And Reid still won't get fired.
QuoteVick Placed On Exempt List As Eagles Get To 53
To get to the league-mandated 53-man roster limit by Saturday's 6 PM deadline, the Eagles have made the following moves ...
The Eagles waived ... CB Trae Williams, CB Jack Ikegwuonu, DE Bryan Smith, DE Josh Gaines, LB Tank Daniels, FS Reshard Langford, WR Danny Amendola, RB Lorenzo Booker, C Dallas Reynolds, G Paul Fanaika, G Mike Gibson, TE Rob Myers, FB Marcus Mailei and FB Kyle Eckel. These players are now subject to waivers.
The Eagles released ... DT Dan Klecko, LB Matt Wilhelm and TE Matt Schobel. These players are now unrestricted free agents.
The Eagles placed QB Michael Vick on the Exempt/Commissioners Permission List. He will not be able to practice as long as he's on this list. He is eligible to play in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles placed OT Fenuki Tupou on injured reserve.
so here's the roster as of now:
QB = McNabb / Kolb / Feeley / Vick (roster exemption)
RB = Westbrook / McCoy / Buckley
FB = Weaver
WR = D.Jackson / K.Curtis / Maclin / Avant / R.Brown / Baskett / Gibson
TE = Celek / T.Curtis
OL = Peters / Herremans / J.Jackson / St.Andrews / Sh.Andrews / Justice / Dunlap / Jean-Gilles / McGlynn / N.Cole
DL = Parker / M.Patterson / Bunkley / T.Cole / Abiamiri / Clemons / Babin / Howard / Laws

CB = Samuel / S.Brown / Hobbs / Hanson / Harris / D.Patterson
S = Mikell / Demps / S.Jones
ST = Akers / Rocca / Dorenbos
IR = Bradley / Ingram / Tupou
Seven receivers? Uh, no.
Someone goes before next Sunday.
"We like Reggie."
Wow... I'm so glad the Eagles are never willing to give up their draft picks...
Instead, we will hold unto them, make bad picks, and cut them a year later.
Gold Standard.
That Bryan Smith pick will haunt me for the rest of my days. Or something.

These draft picks officially flushed down the toilet:
Fanaika (7th round, 2009)
Gibson (6th round, 2008)
Ikegwuonu (4th round, 2008)
Smith (3rd round, 2008)
Bryan Smith. Not at any time did anyone even have a hint that he might be any kind of player. any any any. any. What a waste of a 3rd round pick.

Trae Williams - no shock
Jack Ike - mild shock, but Dmitri Patterson outplayed him. The deep ball he gave up the other day essentially sealed his fate
Bryan Smith - Waste. I don't even recall him showing any flashes whatsoever.
Josh Gaines - no shock, but I would guess he has a shot at the PS
Tank Daniels - I like the guy, but Moises Fokou earned that spot because he can actually play LB. Tracy White is the STs ace now
Reshard Langford - PS candidate all the way...he showed good things
Danny Amendola - PS guy I bet
Lorenzo Booker - draft pick wasted...and cut a year too late. I liked the move on the day they got him and even in camp last year, but holy shtein does he suck.
Dallas Reynolds - no shock
Paul Fanaika - no shock, simply no room because of the overload of OLs
Mike Gibson - no shock
Rob Myers - PS candidate...showed flashes
Marcus Mailei - no shock
Kyle Eckel - no shock because of the addition of Weaver and emergence of Buckley
Matt Wilhelm - no shock. WHen they first signed him I thought he would make it because of his STs and being a veteran, but Fokou has more upside
Dan Klecko - mildly surprised he did not make it. I like him as a DT. Abiamiri and Howard being able to play inside cost him a job here
Matt Schobel - you suck (bet he goes back to the Bengals)
Glazer says Feeley was released to make room for a waiver claim
UPDATE: DT Antonio Dixon from the Skins
So they cut AJ for Antonio Dixon....
No trade takers? A hot market for Antonio Dixon?
doubt it. He has size (6'3" 325) but wasn't even a starter for The U and Zorn said he has no conditioning

Gargano says they're talking to Alex Smith and will release Reggie Brown if they sign him
so they were gonna trade for the guy but arent sure they wanna sign him for nothing?
could banner inc be more on the dick of new england...when they own a player hes the greatest thing ever but when they release him he must suck because the pats are the standard right below the eagles

Another guy that's done next to nothing. He was highly touted in his years draft class if I remember correctly but he pretty much disappeared in the league.
I'd like them to go out and get Leonard Pope. The dude is gigantic, and the knock on him is he can't block, but he's got good hands. Whoever it is going to be backing up Celek, so it's not going to be a stud. Pope would look good in two TE sets as well, and at 6'8" he'd be easy to find inside the twenty.
