i think all the versus games are blacked out so csn can show them in philly.
and lol @ the nhl for putting a game 7 on a monday night
lol @ a 3 for 4 guy starting this thread.....delete and let an sd or sb homer thread start
farg it, Let Mo start it. Honestly, i dont see them getting past Pissburgh
am tempted to say 5 but Pens in 6
could not have broken any worse than it did..
All I want is for Hartnell to break every bone in Crosby's face. And for Gagne to piss in Malkin's eyes. That's all. Win or lose I'll be happy if those things happen.
if they want to win this series, they need to hit Malkin every shift, he disappears the same way Jagr would when he was hit shift after shift.
I dont think they win this series, Gonchar changed this team. Fluery is a great young goalie and Biron is back to being Biron again, and peaked too early

Flyers in 5ish.

Sbisa/Ross Up.. Nodl down. Maybe Jones is sitting, he sucks. Sbisa supposedly played 41 minutes for Lethbridge's last playoff game and averaged over 30 a game in Jrs, and has lost 10lbs since he left the flyers

im exaggerating obviously...but i really really do hate hartnall
yeah, i'd hate one of the few guys on the team who does the dirty work and can still score goals too
Aside from the gay hair what's not to like about Hartnell?
I hate:
Lupul
Carle
you need more reasons than the hair?
and that he looks like a witch
and is in general a clown
he one of those guys that they always say if hes not on your team you hate them...cept i dont play the game that you have to like every player on every one of your own teams
you really hate the guy because of his hairstyle? I mean, I hate white guys with dreads but that's because they're pretentious idiots.
yeah i do...its not just the hair it an overall ginormous look test fail...and the test is huge in determining how much you like an athlete...plus he plays like a clown...hes basically a less extreme steve avery
im not saying he stinks or any of this makes him a lesser player...im just saying i cant stand him

Seriously. Dress 7 d-men and send him out there specifically just to beat the shtein out of the first Penguin he finds.
Found this great idea from PSF, if you dont want to listen to Benniatti and whoever slobber all over the Pens or any series
QuoteI can't farging stand the ass licking that goes on during the playoffs, especially the Pens. So, I guess it is time for me to change my home theater audio. I turn the center channel all the way down and the satellite speakers all the way up. It turns Beninati's midget voice into a murmur and accentuates the game sounds (sticks, hits, posts, etc.). I highly recommend it to anyone who has the capability, it is the best way to watch the game
that guy is a bigger douche than even bennenati for making a thinly veiled "i have a home theater system and you dont" post
no one cares ahole
and im certainly not a bennenati fan but there are a dozen announcers who could be doing the game tonight that are worse than him
more people care about heads up poker than the nhl.
more people care about the NHL than buying newspapers

I'm all about listening to the sounds of the game, like HDNet used to do where they would just crank Ice Level sounds. I've been trying to figure out a way to stream the 610 broadcast thru my surroundsound, but i keep getting errors. I'd gladly pay to not have to listen to 80% of the announcers in the league
fyi - the flyer announcers are as bad as anyone and worse than most (other than clement)
jackson doesn't bother me as PBP, but coates and jones are terrible
when jones first started, i thought he was going to be good because he was critical and brought a little humor with him...but he's been properly sanitized by the machine
i was just about to say that....he was so good at the beginning...and hes still awesome on the versus studio show...but in the booth and on wip hes a bigger homer than sb now...its pathetic
he picked the flyers in five today
I cant stand Jones anymore for exactly the same reason. Coates makes me laugh when he's bright red and clearly hammered. JJ isnt a bad PBP guy, Clement is a perfect completment to JJ IMO.

Penguins fans cheering from luxury suites in Pittsburgh's new arena will be able to ease into plush leather seats, enjoy beverages from a full refrigerator next to quartz countertops and access their own "instant replays" via a special touch-screen television.
Team executives Tuesday hosted the first show-and-tell of a sample suite, mid-level "loge box" and a scale model of the $321 million Consol Energy Center, which is slated to open in time for the 2010-11 hockey season.
"There's not an (arena) in the country that is going to have much on us here," team president David Morehouse said.
The 12-person suites go on sale today to current corporate suite-holders. After that, gold circle seat holders will have a chance to upgrade to a suite; club-level and season-ticket holders will be given a chance after that.
Suite prices will range from $115,000 to $150,000 a season, which includes access to the suites for 41 home games and about 150 events a year, including concerts and other shows. The new arena will have 66 suites — the number Penguins co-owner Mario Lemieux wore as a player — including four party-sized venues for large groups.
The 440-square-foot suites are more than twice the size of the 53 suites in Mellon Arena, which are 212 square feet. Mellon Arena is the oldest NHL venue in North America.
Despite the larger number of high-end suites, Morehouse said 41 percent of the seats in the 18,087-seat arena will carry ticket prices below $50. The range of ticket prices is $22 for low-end seats — the low-end now is about the same — up to club-level seats that will range from $136 to $150.
About 3,000 seats will be available to each game for non-season-ticket holders, he said. The team has sold out 107 consecutive games over the past two seasons.
Morehouse said he has some concerns the recession could affect corporate suite sales, but market studies have shown strong interest so far.
"We think the reason we sold out suites in the oldest building in North America is that people are queuing up for suites in the new building," Morehouse said.
Aside from the in-suite "instant replay" touch screens, the new arena will offer other high-tech amenities including the "Yinz Cam," a system developed at Carnegie Mellon University researchers that will allow fans to view video of the game from various vantage points on their cell phones, Morehouse said.
An LED screen on the exterior of the arena will show game footage of playoff and away games.
This summer, fans will be able to visit the Penguins' Web site and view a rendering that shows their seat's view of the rest of the arena.
"This is going to be, technologically, one of the most advanced buildings in the country," Morehouse said.
Suite 66 is perhaps the arena's most exclusive touch. The team will turn a storage area under the seats and next to the players' tunnel to the bench into a seating area — equipped with a fireplace — for founding partners, naming-rights partners and other team executives.
People in Suite 66 will be able to watch players move to and from the bench a few feet away.
LOL
jacksons voice is way worse than bennenatis or emericks....i cant stand it and it makes it impossible to listen to him...plus hes as much as homer as the other guys...he complains about the refs more than any pbp guy ever should...i mean hes not jack edwards but hes pretty awful
sorry boss, i forget you are the expert on things like this

Depends. Are you finally willing to entertain the possibility that Jerome McDougle was a bust?
phreak = all time homer king
sb = flyers homer king
phreak is too southern to care about hockey, but when it comes to the other teams he is the unquestionable king of sucking ownership dong
that flyer phans board or whatever its called is almost as bad as extremeskins...thats where sb gets it
flyers fans in general are pretty much as bad as skins fans. there are the types that think hockey is under covered then when more people watch womens bowling or poker than it they blame the media. hockey is a great sport, but it is what it is. blame the nhl and stop slobbering over everything coates and jj say.
i also honestly think so few people know the game that they just buy what they hear on the broadcast. i am the first to admit i wouldnt know a cross check from a slash but im not a big flyers guy. so few people in philly grow up playing hockey yet many like the flyers. the only hockey they see is the flyers and they only analysis they hear is wip and the tv guys. there in lies the problem.
the funny thing i think sb plays a lot of hockey and should know the game yet he is a giant homer. so....

I dont play organized anymore, we're talking about putting together a team again, but i got so fat i'll be like Barkley on the blueline. IGY and i've had this talk before, i dont see myself as a homer, sure i follow what the team does daily. But i'm not some orange tinted glasses flag like so many on FP. all hockey fans are diehards for their sport...more than any other sport theres easily more hockey fans that dont care about any of the other big three leagues
where the flyer fans are different than any other philly fanbase is the unbelievable stepford element they have...homerism in philly sports is less prevalent than in any city in the country...except for the flyer fans...ive never seen fans care more refs in my life...like today sb is already talking about how many penalties the refs are gonna call...four hours before the game is even starting...they are so preoccupied with that kind of crap they cant even enjoy the game
washington fans for example will whine like bitches about the refs more than anyone ive ever seen but at least they wait until the game is over and their team has lost
flyer fans are def not like the average philadelphia fan...probably because so many come from south jersey and that hell hole delaware
btw no bennenati tonight
the awesome strader and the highly underrated jaffe...excellent...btw man is jaffe cakked with make up for versus...when hes doing islander games he looks hungover compared to tonight
fyi
barnaby picked pens in 6
melrose flyers in 7
I really like Jaffe, he's great on NHLOnline. Remind me to stab you next time we hangout havas
And Kimmo is hurt already
jaffe said it was knee...looked like charlie horse to me but the replay angle wasnt great
Let's talk some more about who's a bigger homer.
yea but its more a lot of trashy flyers fans who magically like a sport where all the players are white dont know shtein about hockey. they cant skate, theyve never owned a stick, they just like it cause its a good sport and its all small white dudes.
that mentality then leads to people not knowing the game. like who didnt play pick up or rec bball and baseball, high school football, tackle football, etc. just doing makes you actually know the sport. you have to jump through 1000000 hoops to play hockey here. gotta pay for rink time. gotta pay for all the gear. gotta have 1 kid pay for goalie gear. its a whole thing and its harder when you live in an area where its mostly above freezing in the winter.
ok the game is starting so enjoy that but the point is not enough people in philly know hockey and the "lack of respect, us against the world" mentality of flyers fans vs. philly sports scene leads to the homerism.

Biron is looking slow and dopey out there.
Pens in 4
what a save there
flyers need to weather this storm and go into the int down just one...or even back door them with a goal and go in undeservedly tied
the one big advantage of playing at home is the first ten minutes period of the opening game...gotta survive that and then its a new game/series
This game should be 3-0 Pens by now. The defense and Biron keep yielding quality chances to the Penguins. When the Flyers are on offense they rip a couple of zesty long-range slapshots and lose the puck.

I'm about ready to mute Paul Steigerwald. Ever listen to this tool doing play-by-play for the Penguins? Not only is he up there with the worst homers, he misidentifies a player every couple of minutes.
Their color guy Bob Errey is basically a non-factor, mostly silent or making short, obvious statements.

I just love that Giroux got corkscrewed into the pipes, and no call. Malkin more or less dives after the puck is gone, instant whistle
did someone pinch and miss or a turnover cause the 3-1
whats really embarassing about this game is they are getting physically dominated

time to revamp the forwards on this team...keep giroux gawd and carter and anyone and everyone can be traded if the right deal is out there
I think Powe went to pass/shoot right by the right blueline, hit a shinpad and bounced perfectly to Kennedy who was already breaking down ice. Freakish pass. Flyers are done, havent had a shot on goal this period. The problem with this team is all year they've had an attitude that they were better than they really are. Very much like the Birds last season. Whereas last year it was the heart and grit that got them where they were.
Lupul needs to be moved, they need more speed and consistent effort. Lupul is such a lazy farg its sad.
Gotta feel bad for Hatcher the way he said that his knee is a mess and he wont be playing any time soon

id get rid of briere before lupul but i imagine briere is virtually impossible to move...but in general i agree on lupul...you cant have both of those guys on one team...they are the same player with the same glaring weaknesses
If you can move briere for picks to do it, he's got an Albatross of a contract, but i'd still rather have a healthy him over Gomez or Drury.
One thing i have to give Crosby credit with is his Faceoff's. He sucked horrible for his first two years, but he really stepped it up. Richards on the other hand has really gone backwards, and needs to learn how to take faceoffs again
i said all year even tho they had all those 25 and 30 goal guys that this offense was not that good....smoke and mirrors and so much of the scoring against the worst teams in the nhl
its not out of the realm of possibility that they dont score more than ten goals this series
Playoff hockey and I'm bored by this game...
way to ruin the only momentum theyve had all game dumb farg
it wasnt even a knee on knee. Maybe its the homer in me, but he just released the puck, how the farg do they call that?
might have been the first call all year hartnell didnt whine about to the ref...so yeah id say its the homer in you
it also doesnt have to be a knee on knee to be a penalty...they can call tripping if you just up end a guy by hitting his leg...and i didnt see any body on body on the hit...looked to be all on letangs leg...even if it wasnt any knee
done
lololol....that was the worst play ive ever seen

Flyers with 4 or 5 penalties in the final 20 seconds
LOL 18.5 seconds left, and Van Massenhoven calls a penalty, a 5 on 3..
Parent gets another one, then Hartnell gets thrown out, then coburn gets tossed after not fighting Jersey Bill..
flyers embarrassed themselves all game then made it worse in the last minute...pens are laughing their asses off at them in the locker room...so feeble
cant say i disagree in the least bit. Fedetenko skating smiling like he just banged Jessica Simpson tells the story.
he is frightening looking...as are most russians
ive come to the concusion that Briere was an extra vampire in Twilight
Oh and Guerin is a flag for picking a fight then trying to wrestle.
Flyers played like little girl scouts. Tell ya what the refs sucked balls tonight, from the get go they blew and the flyers grabbed their ankles and took it. Fargin somebody better step the farg up and get it done. Farg I HATE the pens. And Ha ha at The big O blowin it against N.Y.
What an embarrassment. The Flyers played like a bunch of Hoydas. They were out-worked, out-hustled, out-played and out-hit.
My original thought was Penguins in five, but if that's what we're going to get from the Flyers, they won't even win the one game.
lost was interesting
Havas, what was your impression of Jaffe? He's great during Islanders broadcasts and i like him on NHLonXM, but i think he became Keith Jones.
How in the farg do you get outhit by Cindy and the farging Pens? Embarrassment.

Picks for Briere would be a dream. Lupul's a bitch. Carle's a bitch. Carcillo is a waste of a roster spot. If this series continues this way - and I don't see why it won't - I hope Stevens gets canned.
Offseason should be about shedding cap, getting a new goalie, and trying to add Bouwmeester.

jaffe is the man...again your homerism is off the charts
I'm talking about his boner for Timmonen's leg. Seemed like a mouthpiece for me from what he normally is during Isles games or on XM.
oh i thought you were saying he has become some sort of awful stepford like jones
what did he do about timmononens leg...i didnt hear
He was talking about Kimmo's leg, how he continually was stretching it, and couldn't skate. Its fine the first few minutes, but it felt like he spent 20 minutes just following his leg
well it is a pretty big story for the most important player on one of the teams to possibly be hurt at the start of game one
i didnt notice him going over board and in fact i thought the replay they showed of timmonen in front of the net in the third period where he couldnt push off and generate any power was very telling and a good catch

interesting stat given by pannacio

1700 minutes? that's nothing. i've been logged onto this site longer than that and i ain't tired.

homer mcgee is back...or did he ever leave?
carcillo getting suspended is the best thing to happen to the flyers since the reverse gratton trade
did you see why he got suspended? Its not that they need him, but its just another bullshtein suspension which has no place in what the league was. But go ahead, claim there isnt biased calls.

its a joke how much more physical the penguins are...the flyers are actually intimidated to the point where they are now shying away from pucks because they are scared of getting hit

Sbisa is taking Carcillo's spot on the wing
i have no idea why they do that...why would you play a rookie defenseman at forward in the playoffs....bench alberts play sbisa where he should be and bring up a real forward
LOL, bench Jones over Alberts, you need a physical presence on the backend, not a flag who shoots teh puck into shinpads at every chance he can get.
And listening to Clement is great stuff. I think JJ tones it down with Clement in the booth.

I'd have to go with Kimmo if you are talking consistent phyical play If you are going for very strong games, and easily the most upside, Coburn. Parent is right there with Coburn.

Yep. I remember that game better than I remember any games from last year's playoffs. I spent half the night pulling my hair out trying to mentally prepare myself for a loss of that magnitude. Then at 2:30 or whenever it ended I was so pumped I stayed up another four hours celebrating that shtein. Classic Flyers moment.
I remember that game. Had to get up at 5:15 for school the next day, then had an all-night field trip with my 8th graders. Got home about 5:15 the next morning.
48 hours on about 1 hour sleep (if that) after Primeau's goal. I think I was hallucinating on my way home from the field trip.

QuoteFlyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen questioned if the officials are treating his team the same as the Penguins.
"What I noticed was, I didn't see the refs yelling at their bench at all. Not one time," Timonen said. "I could see them coming over to our bench a few times. It makes you always wonder why."
Timonen said the Flyers deserved the same respect from the refs as he feels they gave Pittsburgh.
"You see these guys going to the refs and talking to them, and it looks like (the refs) talk to them back," Timonen said. "We go talk to them and they yell at us. It's a little bit of a difference. It's not something we can control."
Flyers coach John Stevens hoped the players like captain Mike Richards, Timonen and Simon Gagne were respected enough by the officials that they would at least earn the chance to explain their gripes and grievances

Richards almost killed Fedetenko again, and missed just like the last game. He lined up and laid into Adams, but how bout you hit Crosby or Malkin.

Mother farger right, fargin money!!
maybe the bigger difference than even goalie tho because biron has been good is the talent difference btwn each teams top players...malkin and crosby are just on a different level than carter and richards

Thats what happens when you tank seasons. You get Fleury, Crosby first overall, and get stuck with Ovechkin 2nd overall, then follow that up with Staal 3rd overall. You act like they drafted those players where other teams had a shot to get them? The only time the Flyers were that low, was the worst draft year in recent memory, and they couldnt even win the lottery to get Kane.
exactly....or you get reemsdyke

It's the Flyers luck. How they manage to suck in the worst draft year, and even lose the lottery, is beyond me. Cursed team for what Snider has paid over the years
Watching Fleury last night, and Lunquvist tonight (and Luongo last week) is making me cry big fat tears into my scrumptious Miller Lite.
this whole series makes me cry because i cant root against anyone since i hate both teams so farging much

You can cry that all you want but the Flyers more or less out played the Pens as a team tuesday...the difference was definitely the goal tending.
malkin and crosby = 13 pts
richards gagne hartnell carter briere = 11 pts
and theres your series
jesus malkin has more goals than any flyer has pts
great players win series...flyers have no great players

This is the fourth game in a row where I feel they had the better of the play on the ice. Keep the momentum up and hope Biron doesn't shtein the bed Saturday.
not that i dont think biron could have a bad game but really its not a worry for me at all...its all about fleury not winning a game again...or the flyers shteinting the bed again on offense....i can see them coming out sat and scoring one goal
i have game six tickets...i hope this win isnt just one big cruel joke to have me witness them get elimninated...i think ive been to the last three maybe four home elimination games

I'll be at a farging wedding.
A Biron sighting and a goal from Knuble in the same night? My brain is assploded.
Watching Malkin and Crosby fall apart at the end was a little strange. I thought that only happened to Philly athletes.
IGY, stay home you jinxing motherfarger.

FSN Pittsburgh had a lightning strike and was off the air for almost the entire second period. Amateur garbage, just like their announcing.

Was that the Freddie Mitchell year? When they got eliminated 8-0? I think there was a SIxers playoff loss that day too.

Ladislav Scurko, one of the late round draft picks 5 years ago, confessed to stabbing a referee 14 times and killing him

QuoteEx-Flyers prospect accused in ref murder
A Slovak newspaper yesterday reported that former Flyers prospect Ladislav Scurko had been arrested and accused of killing a referee last year.
The report said police in Kosice, Slovakia, say that Scurko, 23, was suspected of stabbing Marek Liptaj 14 times at a highway road house in January 2008. The corpse, buried in a forest, was discovered 11 months later.
The police didn't reveal motives for the crime, but said Scurko could face 15 to 20 years in prison.
Scurko, a center, was a sixth-round draft pick (170th overall) of the Flyers in 2004. He played in Slovak pro leagues the last two years, registering a total of seven goals in 84 games.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said the Flyers didn't sign Scurko and he had not been a member of the organization for a few years.
- Sam Carchidi
I think that was a fine symbolic gesture to his old peeps for the favoritism the league shows Crosby.
But what is that "could face 15 to 20 years in prison" for stabbing the ref 14 times and burying him in the woods? What do you have to do to get life or the death penalty there?
LOL - I was thinking the same thing. Maybe you have rape the person before stabbing and after stabbing. Then, dig up the corpse only to find out it's not there. Then, chase the zombie referee down, rape it again, and blow his head off with a high-powered firearm.
Then again, maybe offing the zombie for good would get a reduced sentence.
The only countries in the world that use the death penalty are the USA, Japan, and a bunch of dictatorships and third-world hellholes. Slovakia wouldn't hand down the death penalty if someone tortured and killed 90% of the country. The cops might get a little rough during the arrest though.

Nothing - Slovakia doesn't have the death penalty.
I cannot wait for this game to start, my boy keeps asking me every 2 mins. "when are the flyers gonna play?"
I'm going to miss the flyers game 6 and draft day for a wedding... FML
2-0 Flyers just like that.
Richards a great steal and shot, Knuble gets the rebound for 1-0
Giroux a beautiful cross ice pass to Lupul who buries it Asham-style to make it 2-0

:yay
Briere scored on the PP to make it 3-0, then Carcillo beat the shtein out of Max Talbot shortly after the face-off.
Wow. Now Malkin scored and both teams started fighting.
Looks like the "Malkin goal" was actually Fedetenko knocking it out of Biron's right pad.
Uh-oh. 3-2 and a definite momentum shift.
After a pathetic second period, it's 3-3. Flyers D has sucked... with the amount of time the puck has been bouncing around right in front of Biron, it's amazing the Flyers aren't behind. Offense has been basically nonexistent for the Flyers since the early second, even on the PP.
They've been in control for most of the game, until the last 10 minutes of the 2nd.
If someone doesn't light a fire under their ass during the intermission, this series is over.
Unfargingreal
EPIC CHOKE :boo
The Eagles better make me happy soon.
Choke away a 3 goal lead to end the season. farging beat.
The worst part is 2 of those goals were batted out of mid air.

The good news is they should be a pretty damn good team for years to come. If they get anything resembling a goalie like Fleury, they're stanley cup favorites.
I'm already sick of thinking about this loss. Ready for next year.
Yeah, we have years and years of first round exits to look forward to.
Joy.

One first round exit after ayear that included a trip to the ECF.
They're set at center for the next 7 years, especially if they keep Giroux there. They need a goalie and maybe another quality winger and they can easily become the favorites in the East.
Or maybe an upgrade on D over another winger.
Bums.

worst sporting event ive been to in a long farging time
i have to say flyer fans are the worst things on earth...when they gave up the gonchar go ahead goal there was not a single boo in the entire arena....welcome to the jungle came on and everyone started going crazy...if the eagle or phillies or sixers choked like that it would have been an arena full of venom...flyer fans are such stepford bitches

This is the truthiest thing you've ever said. So awful.
Knuble....gone
Alberts....gone
Biron.....probably gone
Niittymaki....probably wants to go somewhere else
more Giroux
maybe clear some room for Bouwmeester
trade for Lehtonen
not much to pick from for goalies in UFA
yeah i wouldnt say biron is gone with the class of goalies thats gonna be out there...a lehtonen trade would be real nice
bouwmeester would send my gooey little fishies everywhere
Bouwmeester is exactly what they need meaning he's too good to be true.
Khabi's an f/a, old but he's proven and better than Biron and/or Nitty. Never been a big Lehtonen fan but he's still an upgrade
Had a chance to get Khabi a few years back and passed...cant see why they would do it now. farg, today sucked.

You're full of retard.
The first period was back and forth through the neutral zone until the Flyers took over. Then they kept the momentum going through the early parts of the second before gagging worse then your girl did on all the cock she was around the last two weeks. The Flyers were not "dominated" and had momentum for at least half the game. Prick.
And yes, I'd prefer to think about next year and the years to come than sit around and think about that abortion of a game.
