Eagles open as a 3-pt favorite, O/U 47
6ABC for the Philly peeps that don't have NFL Network
I'm dropping a Franklin on the Turducken to beat my hunger.
A 3 point favorite? Somebody hasn't been watching the last several Eagles games...
Arizona in the eastern timezone the last 6 years (since the last time they visited Philly and broke McNabb's ankle):
2008 = Washington (L 24-17), NY Jets (L 56-35), Carolina (L 27-23)
2007 = Baltimore (L 26-23), Washington (L 21-19), Tampa Bay (L 17-10), Cincinnati (W 35-27)
2006 = Atlanta (L 32-10)
2005 = NY Giants (L 42-19), Detroit (L 29-21)

Cards 31

I remember back in 2002 a team from Tampa had a pretty zesty record in games played in temperatures of 39 degrees or lower. Guess who turned out to be the cure-all for that mess?
i cant wait for this tailgate
Me neither. Can't wait to not be there.
there are very few things in life better than an eagle tailgate...they are even better than mets games at shea stadium
ill be there at 10 thursday...please join me
I agree on both counts.

I honestly don't care if you pay discounted or full price... so as long as this part is taken care of:

would you take a job where

Never met the guy.

In that case if Howies Roseman's name is actually Mike and he brings bacon to my cubicle every friday morning then yes, I'd love to work for him. But if his name is Joe and all he does is talk endlessly about his stupid son then no, I definitely wouldn't want to work for him.
who is grotz? and how credible of a source is he?
im being serious cause im not in philly so i dont know the local reporters at all.
also even if thats true i think spags at least considers it because a. he knows howie probably from his days here b. he would have two first round picks, a defense he knows, and maybe a QB already established.

i dont know his exact sources within the organization but i know he has some...hes a solid reporter for the delco times...in fact before he let loose of rosemans name he presented the info as "i know the name of one fast riser within the organization"...like he wasnt sure he should reveal it...then hugh was like id like to know who it is because my people have told me a name as well...at that point grotz and hugh alomost simueltaneously said howie roseman

It angers me that Reid might come out of this charade like a genius now for the fact that Arizona secondary is banged up, they suck coming out east, the Eagles pass 94% of the time and McNabb will now throw for 4 td's somehow
All because Reid backed McNabb up an inch so he could get ahead a mile--farg you

BUT
The Roseman news takes away my half-chub for firing Reid and bringing Spags back.
Hire a guy with almost no football experience to run the team? Oh, yeah... that's awesome.
Here's to another 10 years of not winning the Super Bowl!
BANG!
In all fairness, most of us have been saying that pretty much anyone could be doing the personnel better than Reid. Some pencildick running cost-benefit analysis couldn't be much worse.
is thats what its come to?
as long as you arent quite as pathetic as andy reid its ok to be hired
As evidenced by my celebration of the PSU win on Saturday, I am an idiot and have learned to accept mediocrity.
excellent observation
So if hypothetically they hire Spags, what does that mean for McNabb?
I think if they hire Spags, McNabb stays.
I don't know if I trust Spags offensively. He'd have to bring over a good offensive coordinator, and hopefully bring back Ross to be the full-time GM.
When are they planning to officially rename the lombardi trophy the Spagnuolo trophy?
at this point i think its the "anyone but reid" trophy
Reid will get his "lame duck" year next year. A poor showing and then he goes, but not before. And if the lame duck years of Kotite and Rhodes are any indication, that should be special. A McNabb tank on Thursday and Reid has a "no-lose" cover strategy, easily blaming this year on McNabb. Reid gets a bit of a pass, but is kept on a short leash for next year - maybe some "token" FO move. McNabb goes to another team and has a brief flash of success a la Cunningham like a candle that flickers brightest before extinguishing.
I don't know about you folks, but I am excited for Thursdays game. A prime-time, liquored-up, surly crowd ready to boo both teams. Can we please have Santa arrive at half time? Any snow in the forecast? The game will have folks and media who a looking for a NASCAR experience - lemme see that car wreck called McNabb-Reid-Dawkins, O-Line, etc. Those NFL Network bozo's will exhaust every cheap and trite cliche by kick-off. Thrill as we get to see well-worn draft-day footage of the booing once again. Chill to Wilma grimacing in the stands. See Lurie ask his wife where the bathroom is. We'll be reminded how Warner stocked grocery shelves. We'll see his wife's "haircut throughout the years" retrospective and video tribute.
This game will be the complete deal except for no "banner man". His Dana Bible sign was the bestest. And I'd take Banner man over Joe Banner anyday.

Quote from: BigEd76 on November 23, 2008, 10:59:39 PMThey scored 31 against the Giants 2 weeks ago. The '98 team was dead last in both points and yards, scored more than 17 points one time the entire season and had a stretch where they scored 23 points combined in 5 games. This offense was bad in September and October last year too but had that one fluke game against Detroit. They also had that bad stretch in '06 where McNabb got hurt (Jacksonville-Washington-Tennessee-Indianapolis) and they came out of that one. And remember the McMahon/Detmer awesomeness of 2005? This offense stunk at Baltimore. Shocking. I wouldn't be surprised if they put up 30+ against Arizona...

41 points. igy, kiss my ass
Yeah, forreal Ed....he couldn't accept that they've played up to superior competition all year either.
Of course I didn't expect them to be this far ahead...i was expecting them to play close all night and lose.
DJack chest bumping Reid was hilarious....Reid kinda did a double take like "Really?"
Why Westbrook was still in for that drive, and why they kept throwing, many will forget on account of the score. This has been a typical Reid Eagles win...everything runs to plan for him and he looks great.
I hope reporters drill Reid's ass for not being able to put together a game plan for the fargin bengals, or on a regular basis.
Nice 4th down D
holy ish, andy has westy out :o I'm stunned.
munson, it had nothing to do with playing up to competition because they stunk against the Giants and Ravens who had better records. All I said was that this offense was seriously inconsistent and looked like garbage in a road game against the Ravens, and coming home against a team that sucks in the eastern timezone, with Andy and Donovan facing a ton of scrutiny, they could have easily rebounded and scored at least 30+ on the Cardinals, and I got laughed at for having that opinion.
Hey, this Eckel guy looks decent. Looks like another score coming up.
an actual fb that can run the ball :o
McNabb with 4 TD passes WITHOUT a broken ankle
6 touchdowns
They didn't really "stink" against the giants, they only lost the game by 4 points.
I was reffering to the other teams in the East...they played each of them close, even went up big early on the Skins. I was counting the Ravens as a team more on the Eagles level. They've played like shtein against teams on their level/below them, and have played just well enough to lose some close ones to the teams that should have beat their asses.
Wow running the clock down with run game...way to do your job Marty
AVANT TD
McNabb with huge comeback game. This is how you should run the offense Andy. Establish the run, then throw.
Reid sucks
What sucks though is Reid is going to get credit for benching McNabb and that dumbass take a step back to go forward comment. He'll also probably get credit for calling the game which I almost guarantee he didn't
he should get credit for being the one who put us thru the bengals and Ravens bs. Credited for not getting a true talented #1, and everything else wrong with this team. He sucks and is a jackass.

Balanced attack, good running game=winning by 28 points against a team that talent-wise should have beat the hell out of you.

That's what pisses me off the most.
If they ahd just played like they played tonight and had Reid called more games this year like he did tonight...they'd be something like 7-5 or 8-4 and right in the middle of things.
Instead they're 6-5-1, and even if they win out probably not making the playoffs. The wildcard teams this year are going to both be 11-5 at the rate the NFC East and NFC South are playing.
they'll still finish in last place, but it was nice to enjoy an Eagles game for once
For what it's worth you have to admit Donovan is a quality QB..he can forget the mistakes and bad games and put in an effort like tonight
Problem is we've seen too much bad Donovan vs the good.
Was it the play calling, was it the running game, was it the short yardage conversion.

D-Mac is with the post game crew right now, they're all pretty pumped and the crowd is chanting 'Donovan'.
McNabb is talking about a team effort, etc. and having a 1 on 1 conference with Reid this week.
Edit: McNabb said he played bad in Cincy and Baltimore, and says he expects to be an Eagle next year. He also got the 'pudding pie award' from the crew but gave the pie to Sapp because he needs to stay in shape.
God Reid post game conference is just horrid, like them all. Asked if the run game helped the offense...he mumbled asked for him to repeat the question and then said it worked. HAHA, he is completely clueless...can't he just admit defeat. Praise Marty :bow

Why do you insist on thinking just because the eagles run the ball more than they normally do that it's Marty Morninwheg was calling the plays? You do realize that Marty calls the plays during most of the games, don't you? Both Marty and Andy are equally stubborn in their play calling.
reid is a genius again. yay.
on that muffed punt....from my pov it did seem like the ball hit greg lewis and then desean decided to dive at it.
the nfl network crew decided not to replay it cause they had to cram in like 10 more NFL 60 FAT KIDS ARE FAT commercials into the broadcast but it definitely looked like the ball either hit lewis or was very close to him.
DGunn interviewed DeSean and he said it hit Lewis so he went after it

This is worst case scenario type shtein. They basically can't make the playoffs. If they win even one more game Reid may save his job. In fact, all they can accomplish at this point is 1. Get a worse draft pick and 2. Save Reid's job. Awful.

word
I haven't read any of the thread, but that was the most complete Eagles game we've seen in quite some time. 5 and 36 were both magnificent, Nick Cole came in and was a brick wall, Jackson and Avant both with bit plays, and the defense was at worst very good. Dawk made a surprise appearance - he was all over the field with awesome hits and coverage.
Whatever this means long or short term, I don't care right now - it was just great to watch such a fantastic and fun game.
I wouldn't jump the gun people. This is thee jekyll and hyde team of the NFL. They take on maybe the best built NFL team next week. Even with last nights play calling I don't think it matters much against the Giants. If we win one out of the last 4 I'll be surprised
If anything, this anomalous win will only serve to embolden the Mormon Manatee. It went a long way to ensuring his return for another year of smug superiority. All is well. Lets burn all draft picks on his favorite toy, the line. And what head-scratching, aneurysm-popping picks they will be. Oh wait, lets trade a few to the giants, hell why not one pick to each of the East.
That said, I hope Card Trader had a great night.
a reporter asked reid about running the ball and andy replied "it was working so we stuck with it"...
meaning that if it does not work right away on the first few carries in the first qrt even if the game is tied 0-0 he will abandon it again.

If running doesn't work in the 1st quarter, abandon it completely. If passing doesn't work in the 1st quarter, keep doing it. Got it...
Absolutely infuriating.
see what happens when you run the ball you fat farg? reid will go back to his 70% pass shortly, we'll get our ass kicked and back to were we were in relation to the ravens game.
For a little while there it looked like they were about to go back to pass, pass, pass, punt and throw the game away.

yeah you could tell.
even near the end when they scored that avant TD. the play before was that pass attempt to celek. they were just running the ball that whole drive and andy had to throw in a pass on 2nd down.
This game, this win, the 48 points, mean nothing. How can you be happy with this game after the Ravens and Bengals games? All it means is that the Eagles can actually play up to their potential once in a while. It doesn't mean they will win the Superbowl, or make the playoffs, or beat the Giants, taterskins, or Cowboys.
That game tells me they are poorly coached, because they can't play with any consistency. They should be ashamed of themselves, not proud. So they can put together one game. Big Deal. Why didn't they play like this against the Ravens and Bengals before their friggen' season was over? This team sucks and I'm more pissed off now than I was before, because they've shown me that they have it in them to put together a complete game, but can't do it with any consistency. The season is 16 games long, and one good win does not a season make.
Win out, prove me wrong and I'll be wrong and like it. But I don't see it happening.
Quote me on this and bring it back if I'm wrong, the Giants will annihilate the Eagles.
I can be happy with this win because it was enjoyable to watch. It's frustrating in a general sense because of the reasons I stated earlier but just because I'm disgusted with the overall direction of the team, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it when they kick ass. I'm not that bitterly cynical.

Both Marty and Andy are equally stubborn in their play calling.
hmm maybe because Reid didn't have his plastic playcalling sheet all game and when they showed Marty he did and he was talking. Hmmmmmmm, sounds suspicious to me. Are you defending Reid? Did we not see the same playing a few years ago with Garcia at the helm...Marty calling the shots.
Mornhinweg called all the plays in the Ravens game. Mornhinweg = Reid, basically.

Perfectly stated.
That being said, I would've been more vocal if they weren't completing the string.
They're still picking #13 after this win. Relax.
As long as Reid and Heckert are choosing, who cares? All we can hope for is the next FredEx/McDougle fargup to arrive.
Speaking of...has McDougle done anything for NY? Other than be deactivated and draw a paycheck?

It angers me that Reid might come out of this charade like a genius now for the fact that Arizona secondary is banged up, they suck coming out east, the Eagles pass 94% of the time and McNabb will now throw for 4 td's somehow
All because Reid backed McNabb up an inch so he could get ahead a mile--farg you
anybody need their palm read Im open all night

they need more attitude like that and he knows it....sad when a rookie is a leader...says all you need to know about an andy reid team
lmao now hes a leader? how?
cause hes not wet mop bitch like donovan
i knew it would involve donovan somehow. always does for you but please elaborate on how desean jackson is a leader on this team.
i know you pulled it out of your ass but i would really enjoy the reasoning behind it.
he leads the team in dropping the ball at the 1
And letting punts bounce of his chest like in Chicago, and by running backwards any chance he gets
still hard to believe this was a preview of the NFC Championship game

I forgot. We are supposed to be mad we are one game from the Super Bowl. Keep picking against them IGY, I think it's our good luck charm.
Hey GF how about letting "Cardtrader" back for old times sake?
Didn't I ban you too?
I'm convinced IGY just likes to hear himself talk, or type, or spew whatever bullshtein that comes to his mind using any form of communication he can. His "predictions" cover all bases, he makes one hyperbole extreme prediction about why the Eagles will definitely 100% lose then says "But not if this other extreme happens, then the Eagles will win.".
For instance, he completely blew it with his doom and gloom pick on this game. Then, when he was wrong, pointed out that he just happened to say "Oh if Eli throws a few picks and sucks the Eagles will win."
Thanks for that brilliant insight.
