Eagles open as an 8-point favorite, O/U 46
The Falcons haven't won in Philly since late October, 1988
Andy Reid after the bye week....yea we know that one
I expect the Eagles D to dominate as long as they keep Turner under control
I hope Andrews can play, this team has been too long without him.
Eagles are 8 point favorites? I'll take the Falcons
Based on his game against the Bears, I now have a perpetual chubby for Matt Ryan.
Amazing stat I heard last week about Ryan...he's been blitzed something like 46 times this year and has not been sacked on a blitz at all.
Impressive for a rookie.
And about time for that streak to end. It's obvious, but they have to control Turner/Norwood and make the impressive rook beat 'em.
There is no excuse for coming out and losing this game.
And John Abraham has had a career resurgence; he has to be stopped by Trilliam and Sasquatch.

I had heard something like that as well. I know the Bears didn't sack him at all... and I think the Packers only got him once.
Can't believe I'm actually saying this, but the Eagles need to be very aware of Roddy White. He's becoming a very complete WR and is their big-play guy. Got to take him away from Ryan. Jenkins isn't their most dangerous guy... but he's kinda sneaky on deep passes. He caught a deep ball back in '05 vs. the Eagles that set up a short TD in a game the Birds lost by 4 pts.
anybody that has Turner for fantasy knows that when the Falcons go up against a stout Run D...he falls short. He has done it 3 times now against Chicago, TB and Carolina...expect the same again
So that leaves Roddy White against the secondary
with Westbrook and all recievers somewhat healthy....McNabb should shred this defense/secondary which still ranks in the bottom tier of the NFL
Eagles 28
Falcons 10
The same stout run defense that let Clinton Portis and Frank Gore run all over god's creation in consecutive weeks? Yeah, let's not go jerking off the run defense just yet.

seriously....its like no one watched the last two games and honestly i doubt reese did since he cares way more about fantasy football than real football...
i think its a coin flip as to whether they shut him down or not...they defintiely could...but to act like the eagles have some sort of dominant run defense is laughable
yeah I know....this is the same run D that stopped Barber, S Jackson and Willie Parker...but Im so way off base...stop it
Cracks me up hearing people talk about a great running team in Atlanta. Thats wonderful...you can run on Detroit, KC and GB....welcome to everyone else in the league.
Atlanta's running game is very suspect....and igy...your negativity about everything on this earth overshadows your thinking on all levels...including football..believe that

DETROIT, KANSAS CITY, GREEN BAY
Hey they stopped Barber, I'll give them credit for that. But Willie Parker and Stephen Jackson, for all of their talent, are running behind absolutely atrocious offensive lines. The defense is fine against the run, but jesus, settle down before you shoot in your pants.
rj you make it look like Im blowing the Eagles in the locker room. Im far far from a homer for this squad, but I will call it like I see it

completely unrelated to the marital problems igy and reese seem to be going thru but here in NYC today...on Max Kellerman's (why is he not doing ATH anymore?) ESPN radio show he called out the eagles.
he was talking about mangini and the jets and brought up a example and goes "well its sort of like andy reid...he scripts the plays in the beginning, they look real good, then he cant make any adjustments at all to the adjustments the defense makes."
i dont know why but i was like HELL YEAH TELL EM MAX!

I was at that game with my old man. I was only 9 or 10 but the thing I remember most aside from the ending was Mike Horan's 75 yard punt. Dawkins may not have broken up that catch, but I give him credit for forcing them to use a time out. And now the announcers say no timeout, so Boo to Dawkins. Boooooo!
Dawk's gonna end up with one of these Hoyda roughing calls as much as he likes to go high.
I like Demps returning but he really needs to stop shying away from contact....he starts tip toeing around once he gets up to the wedge/at the first sign of a defender. Run straight ahead at full speed man, you'll break one.

I think the only way I could be happier about such a blatantly bad call is if happened to the taterskins. That TD is also nice.
This might be the homer talking, but I honestly saw that ball change direction VERY slightly on that wide angle replay. I think his right hand might have nipped it just a little bit.
Westbrook is god.

As was previously discussed, Westbrook does not make stupid decisions.
We were talking about whether Atlanta let 36 score. I think they just farged up.
500th win in franchise history (7th team to do it)
McNabb was wearing sunglasses in the postgame conference because of his eye
im pretty sure if the refs dont mess that call up the falcons drive down and score a TD.
What happened to McNabb's eye? Get pimp smacked by someone?
Any word on LJ? That shtein was violent.

i think mcnabb was poked in the eye on that one play where he took a hit and went down for a minute.
oddly enough he seemed to play much better after that hit to the eye.
Yeah, I couldn't hear what was going on in the bar.
He started off terribly. He was missing high, which is rare for him.
And what the farg with covering Roddy White?!? Jeez.
That bad call at the end was payback for the horseshtein call on Cole in the first half. I don't ever remember being at a game where the fans (me included) were so farging pissed. I mean, SCREAMING bloody murder after that call.
I was impressed that the booing lasted for a solid 10 minutes after that call. Sounded great on TV.

Good. That was the loudest icehole cheer we ever did too. :-D
The lame-ass Phillies chanting at the end of the game was louder than any other point in the game besides the booing for that penalty. Also, a penalty that costs a team possession of the ball in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter is not equal to a 15 yard penalty in the first quarter. Its not even close.
who cares. eagles won.

it was a loud ass icehole chant, and steady booing, the type of booing that you could feel in your stomach. I lost my voice
ha sam rosen was about to comment on it but couldnt then. he was like "and the fans react.....pause....long pause...it was a bad call"
My observations from this game:
1. It was nice to see a coach use his TOs more dumberer than AR, I didn't understand why he took his last TO with that much time left. It obviously cost them a shot at winning this game.
2. Matt Ryan is not a rookie Qb, that dude is going to be special.
3. This team is infuriatingly inconsistent
4. Run the football and the offense plays well, imagine that.
My observation, having watched GameCenter and watched the NFL highlights, making me expert on the matter, is that Westbrook is a football god. He's the team, plain and simple.
Bwest can be said to be the best player this team has ever had.
One thing that has stuck with me from the game, seeing McNabb with a grin a mile wide, laughing and joking with the ref while LJ Smith lay on the ground trying to remember who and were he was after one of the most vicious hits I've ever seen.

I hate Andy Reid. This point gets proven time and time and time again for 10 years and he doesn't change his philosophy. It upsets me greatly.

Smith said he didn't want 31 seconds running off the clock to reach the 2:00 warning and he was going to count on that warning as his only timeout....
I give Reid some credit for changing around the game plan a bit when McNabb was clearly having problems hitting the broadside of a barn. Of course, running the ball more with a lead in the 2nd half should be a given anyway, but still... It's not always a given for Reid. So, because of my low expectations, he exceeded them.

Hahaha. It pissed me the hell off too, though. Also, McNabb was giggling like a school girl after his ridiculous overthrows in the first half. I seriously wanted Runyan to go kick him in the nuts.
Mcnabb could of very easily crushed that secondary
he overthrew/misdirected alot of short passs...but he blew 2 wide open passes that should of been easy TD's
and I despise McNabb in the shotgun

Right.....you would think clock management would be the easiest thing that a NFL coach would have to do.
They ran the ball and won the game. When they run, they win. Plain and simple. I thought the D did a great job of containing Mike Turner. Not convinced though they will stick to this thing called running the ball.

The refs yesterday were really, really bad. REALLY bad.

After him spraying his passes all over the place yesterday, I'm sick of his shtein. The laughing at time when he should be solemn/competitive is something that persists no matter what. On the flip side, he actually ran the ball effectively twice yesterday. That was nice.
He's still our best option, but he's infuriating.
When your supposed to be a team leader, you don't stand around laughing and joking while one of your starters is laying on the ground with what could have been an even more serious injury than a concussion.
I lost a lot of respect for McNabb seeing him act that way. I don't care if LJ sucks or not. Thats your teammate that just had the livin' crap knocked outta' him by a dirty hit, and you think no more of what had just happended then to stand around laughing it up with the friggen' ref.
Also, with the way Ryan was moving the Falcons offense, hooking up with Roddy White big time, is there anyone who thinks they wouldn't have scored had they gotten the ball back before that bad call? Nothing is for shore, but it wasn't looking good.
Atlanta is shaping up to be a good team, and by the time the playoffs get here they will be a better team. A game like this, to lose the way they did, it just makes them more dangerous, imo.
So? They'll be someone else's problem if they make the playoffs.
My point is that it's a team on the rise and one to watch. Being a fan, I like that kind of thing.
It's kinda' ironic also that they now have a real qb and are a much better team than the former Mike Vick Falcons, what with all the hype that surrounded Vick.
hmmm mcnabb, westbrook and djack were the only eagles players around lj when he was on the ground. but the camera showed mcnabb laughing with a ref. and this means he doesn't care? wow, just wow. the hatred for mcnabb is never ending

mussa, I think that by and large I've been one of McNabb's bigger supporters on this board. It could just be the way it came out looking on the TV, but that really did bother me. Just looked somewhat heartless.

McNabb was complementing ref for picking LJ in the KO pool. Seriously Non-Mussa(s) he has seen so many injuries do u expect him to get all frazzled. Man's game... Move on LJ didn't blow out his knee, achilles, break a bone etc... None of the players were praying and all that horse shtein. Hard late hit, concussion...dime a dozen.

And for those not at the game, you might have thought he was all laughs and smiling after bad throws, but he was pissed plenty of times. ONe of the bad throws had him run 10 yards down the field obviously pissed off at himself. Another time I can remember him banging on his helmet with both hands and then shaking his head at himself. Another time I also saw him smacking his hands together in frustration at himself (or if the WR ran the wrong route, not sure, but he wasn't happy either way).
Another time, I saw him eat a live baby after a dropped pass.
It's more fun when we talk about how unpossibly awesome Brian Westbrook is.

Actually, for those of us not at the game, we were actually able to see his facial expressions along with said body language. RIGHT after the aforementioned "10 yards down the field" reaction, he had a huge grin on his face.
I know he cares about his performance, and as I clearly said, he's the best option for this team to win right now. But, his intensity sucks, and he tends to make the same mistakes over and over instead of fixing them.

Which is why he'll be Reid's quarterback forevers.
Is there any way the two of them haven't swapped fluids one way or another?
Are you counting the popcorn butter that comes out of Reid's pores?
Trick question. The same stuff comes out of his penis, obviously.

Wrong. Bwest and DJ took a knee by him, Reid and most players from both teams were around with McNabb closer. What really made it look bad was that McNabb was right there three feet from him laughing and joking with the ref like hardly nothing had happened.
No one here hates McNabb, but it looked bad.
I'm going with the theory that while in the prone position, LJ said "Tell Andy I love me sum fat-ass Mormon" which struck McNabb's funny bone.
im sure they realized that while it was a vicious hit that it was nothing serious and he just had his bell rung.
ref was probably telling mcnabb how they were going to hand him the game with a terrible call later in the game.
Everyone is such a farging Hoyda now days. Is everyone supposed to farging cry because something bad happened?
Injuries happen, get over it. I wish McNabb would have rubbed one out and jizzed all over L.J. so that you guys would really have something to talk about.

Looks like Banner's being bounced ouf of the Linc.
from yahoo sports:
QuoteThe Eagles' held the Falcons' No. 2-ranked rushing game to 77 yards and just 3.2 yards per carry. They gave up just two runs of longer than six yards and held the Falcons to zero or negative yards on six of their 24 rushing attempts.
Not bad at all.
Yeah, this year the defense is going better against the run than they have in a while. Nice to see.
that picture of Banner and his escort reminds me of Robb and Big.
