Should have done this shtein back in the preseason, then they wouldn't have had to waste time putting a DT in his place only to find out that he can't play the position either.

Again... you need a FB, get a farging FB.

Helluva move here at the trade deadline...

QuoteEagles Sign White, Release Hunt
October 14, 2008 | Last Updated: 10/14/08 3:28 PM ET | Comments (31)

The Eagles signed linebacker Tracy White. To make room for White on the 53-man roster, the team released RB Tony Hunt.

A six-year veteran, White (6-0, 238 pounds) spent the last two-plus seasons with the Green Bay Packers before being released on 10/7/08. Originally signed by Seattle as an undrafted rookie in 2003 out of Howard, White played in 20 games (two starts) with the Seahawks, recording 26 tackles and one sack. He spent the 2005 season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, before signing with the Packers in 2006.

A strong special teams performer, White has racked up 68 career special teams tackles in 69 games, including two in the 2007 postseason, as well as a forced fumble on 1/20/08 vs. NYG. He also recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone for a touchdown on 9/9/07 against the Eagles.

A 27-year-old native of Charleston, SC, White started 44 games at Howard, leading the team in tackles all four years and becoming the school's all-time leader with 500 career tackles, adding 22 sacks and six interceptions.

They wouldn't part with a 2nd for TO in the prime of his career when their WRs were worse than they are now. No way in hell would they have given Detroit close to what Dallas did.
I'm praying for some serious Dallas injuries because trying to cover TO, Williams and Witten is going to be next to impossible.

Great move for Dallas, you have to give it to them. After three weeks of watching TO get double teamed and shut down, they go out and get the best wr available, while Andy Reid sits on his fat ass thinking that when Curtis comes back our receivers will be fine.

Their corners are supposed to be great, maybe they should show it once in a while. The real problem is going to continue to be Witten

i wish jerry jones was the owner of the eagles.

not that the eagles were going to make any noise this year but i just do not want to see the cowboys win another superbowl.

this FO is a joke. im hearing reports that they wouldn't offer the chiefs a 3rd round pick? WTF?

i wonder how mcnabb feels now. he asks for weapons and gets none. cowboys have one bad loss and they make a huge move.

even the taterskins made some moves to help themselves out.

and oh yeah forgot to comment on HUNT....wtf was this move?

does this team even know what they are doing? he cant block so they switch him to FB. he proves again he cant block so they switch him back to RB. they never hand it off to them and then cut him? WTF?

not that i care much for him but this is the move they made today?

Pump your brakes, homie.

Jones' personnel moves have netted him zero playoff wins as a GM. If you want him as an owner, you get him as a GM too.

And let's not jerk the Skins off for signing Mike Green, Ryan Plackemeier and Shaun Alexander.
Title: Re: Tony Hunt we hardly knew ya
Post by: ice grillin you on October 14, 2008, 06:17:13 PM
skins moves were minor but still >>>>>>>> eagles moves

and thats all that matters

this is a continuing trend of the eagles not caring if they win it all or not...trading first round picks...one of which i actually agreed with...but still they show absolutely zero urgency and for a team that is relying on draft picks outside the first round to turn them around they might wanna get a PP dept thats isnt an absolute embarrassment

So true. As we have seen from these sports hernias in the past is that they take a good year to get back to 100%. Curtis wont have any positive effect this season. Looks like our Iggles are yet again settling to just get by..... :boo

how many superbowls do the cowboys have?

how many have the eagles won with REID and LURIE?

im sick and tired of this inaction. sitting one 2 first round picks and they refuse to trade for a 27 yr old WR who could be here for a long time? and pass on Tony G. who could have helped this season?

its just sickening. say what you want about jones but ever since he found his QB he has done everything to provide him with the best weapons in the game. TWO good backs, TWO of the best WRs in the game, and the best TE in the game.

the eagles have just one weapons for mcnabb in westbrook and rookie who they are counting on to save the special teams and the mediocre WR corps.

seriously how do you not trade for Roy? offer then one of your firsts but i bet the eagles did not even bother to offer because you know "WE ARE FINE AT THE WR POSITION".

hmm i wonder if they are so fine why that question comes seemingly every week every year.

i would have traded for roy williams in the offseason when the price was lower....but i def would have traded for him today rather than let him go to a division rival...but once again the eagles wanna keep their precious draft picks so they can make more horrible choices in april

after this weekends results plus acquiring roy williams would have sent some serious juice thru this organization...it literally would have elevated them to nfc championship contender...imagine what an already milquetoast locker room is thinking now and as someone mentioned especially donovan...its such a downer not just for us but for the team

Agreed on getting him in the off-season. But that was before Millen was canned and before they started out 0-fer.

And I agree 10000% they should have outbid Dallas because they have way more ammunition to get him. It is ridiculous. But they still should have gotten Tony G.

going into the bye week with the whole nfc east losing besides the eagles picking up either would have been a huge boost.

now the team will try to limp into the playoffs/wildcard relying way too heavily on mcnabb and westbook (both of whom will miss another 2-3 games). the team will win the final game against the cowboys since the cowboys will be #1 in the NFC and resting their starters. going into the offseason the FO will remind the fans how they beat the cowboys at the end.

Yeah, it is.  And I'm just as disgusted by it as anyone here.

Fact is, though, in this particular situation I think there was a lot more to it than just the Eagles being cheap or outbid by another team.  Williams is a Texas guy and we've all heard at one time or another how much he wanted to play in Dallas.  Now he gets his wish.

Again - not remotely happy about it at all but it is what it is.

reid just doesn't farging get it.  to top it all off we'll see more trevor farging laws.  no williams.  release hunt (that's like 3 wtf moves right there), and we get a decent DT (who already had 2 sacks?) moved to FB so now laws gets more playing time.  and no gonzo.

This is as angry as I've ever seen the fans at this team. It was close after the Carolina loss in 2003, but I think it has broken new ground new. Pretty much every place you go, the fans are tearing this front office a new one.

This team is really making themselves hard to root for with this madness.

I agree MJG has stepped it up a little bit lately.  He had a real nice blockon Buck's long run down the right side, sealing off the edge.  He's been pretty solid in pass D as well.  I always catch myself watching him because he's where I expect the breakdown in protection to be... but he's consistently picked up blitzes his way, held his ground, and preserving the pocket giving McNabb the room to step up and throw.

He's not nearly as quick as Andrews is pulling or getting out on screens, but he's at least proving to be depth worth a damn, which is more than can be said for a lot of the backups along the line.
