This guy is a complete joke.
His terrible route and effort on Spikes' pick today + getting knocked on his ass + the two farg ups at the goal line last week...
They should be on the phone with KC swinging a deal for Gonzalez. The TE position is killing this team. All three of them have been shtein, but LJ just looks like a farging idiot out there.
Get out.
I'm 100% in for any trade for Gonzalez. I give it a 1% chance of actually happening. But you could come off a bye week with Westbrook, Andrews, Curtis, Brown, and Gonzalez. Too bad he can't play LB.
Well, we all know Gonzalez will be in a G-Men uniform, which will be salt in the wounds as we watch the Birds hold on to their draft picks, Smith, Celek and Schobel.
gonzalez is like 33...i want no part of him...at least not for anything of substance
The guy basically got a one year, all expenses paid chance to win a long term deal and he's done absolutely nothing. I'm sure some team will sign him in the offseason but it better not be the Eagles.
Gonzalez at 32, signed on the cheap for two more years, is better than anything they have now. Get him.
no
Yes.
Yeah - who needs a hall of famer here? The receivers & tight ends are fine.
might as well sign jerry rice if youre looking for hall of famers...he would help the team win a super bowl as much as gonzalez would...and he would be free
You're worse than Munson when you're drunk, man.
Shut up.
And the Red Zone offense is fine. He had 99 catches last season, he's still an elite TE.

im not drunk and no one is worse than munson...lol @ you thinking old ass tony gonzalez would get this team anywhere of significance...you wanna trade a 6th rounder for him fine...but i aint giving anything of great value for him
Shouldn't you be watching the Chargers/Pats?
He can't block, can't protect the ball, can't run a good route, can't catch the ball reliably. After he leaves the Eagles, he will either turn into a pro bowler, or be out football.
I'd rather they just replaced him this year with Celek or some chode of the street. At least they will actually put forth some effort.
Schoeoeoebel should do a murder suicide with LJ.

your a complete moron. the eagles never use the picks wisely anyway. old man GONZO is even at his age 100 times more productive that LJ. he would be a great threat in the redzone.

Hey hey. Even drunk I know that Gonzalez would be worth a 3rd rounder and very effective in this offense.
To think they could have drafted the TE that was No. 1 on most peoples board that year. Jason Witten.
They also drafted Ryan Moats ahead of Marion Barber and Brandon Jacobs.
Somewhat unrelated, but worth mentioning...

I hate you.
Speaking of Jacobs, the word in Giants land is that when Jacobs contract comes up, he's not getting paid like he's going to want to unless he has a monster year. The Giants feel they would be fine with a runningback by committee of Brashaw and Ward.
Contract talks between Jacobs and the team were cut off at the start of training camp, with Jacobs being confident that he can prove himself by playing all 16 games and putting up big numbers.

I am not too worried about them passing up on a RB they wouldn't use him anyway.
they didnt pass up on a rb..,..they passsed up on rb's that can play
http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/20081013_Eagles_-_Scoring_a_TD_gives_L_J__Smith_s_game_an_upside.html
LJ says he cant do much with one pass a game. LJ Smith has that Old Rutgers loser mentality. No offense Diehard, but LJ always says to take positives out of negatives but it never seems believable. farg him
lj smith sucks. now he's whining like the bitch he is. he can't block, he holds the ball like a child, he consistently gets leveled by smaller DB's, hes the smallest 250+ lb TE ive ever seen play. can anyone honestly recall the last time he broke a tackle or ran over a DB? he is always injured. what a bust this kid is. he ran that route with zero authority yesterday then half ass attempted to get in front of spikes. that was just pathetic and weak. get him out of town. sign a real football player like Tony G. He's still top 3-5 TE in the league and would dramatically improve our offense.
He's an average (at best) NFL TE, plain and simple - has nothing to do with where he went to school.
Plus, his HS team was even worse than his teams at Rutgers.

I can't wait for him to get out of here either. I can't believe they passed on Witten. No thanks on a washed up Gonzalez. That Gresham out of Oklahoma looked pretty good against Texas. He may be a bit slow but we will have to see how fast he is clocked.
That washed up Gonzalez is going to look pretty good in Jersey.
giants are a sb contender....eagles are not so he certainly would look better in ny for a high pick...the eagles with gonzalez most likely dont even make the playoffs and thus they have no reason to give a 2nd round pick for a 33 year old te for next season

The reported asking price is a 3rd round pick.
Not to mention, even if it was a second....what exactly are the Eagles losing in giving up their second round pick?
Only their dignity when the trade doesn't go through and the Chiefs hang up while Gonzalez is still laughing in the background. Other than that, not a whole lot.
Who cares? Trading anything of value for an ancient TE is stupid, but Andy Reid will almost certainly farg up whatever pick he would have had to give up for Gonzo anyway, so it's a lose lose proposition.
farg Andy Reid.
No way Tony Gonzalez would make a difference on a team that throws the farging thing 2 out of 3 snaps.
Sure he would be an improvement. But it's not like he would carry this team to a championship or anything. So cram it.
hed be an upgrade but wouldnt win them a sb like he could the giants...he might get the eagles in the playoffs if a lot else went right...like the eagles getting a new linebacker corps for thanksgiving...but since thats unlikely to happen ill keep the draft pick thanks

Yes he would. He'd be the difference between the Eagles going 9-7 and them going 13-3.
Yes. Now I see that you are almost certainly right about that. how foolish of me to doubt the holy Gonzo's powerful mystery and mysterious power.
hes so good the chiefs cant get anything better than a 6th right now

i doubt the chiefs really expect a 2nd round pick for him.

i dont get it. didnt he have a 1000 yd season last yr?
who is reid going to draft anyway in the third round? some project player who he will play out of position? while passing up much better talents who will end up in the NFC east?
There's a really good, quick, smallish DE that's just begging to be drafted and moved to SS, and Reid's going to find him.

Can he kick field goals?
Yes, but even worse than Akers does.
Mark Simoneau kicked an extra point!
There isn't even a game on today, dummy.

QuoteESPN's Chris Mortensen, attending the meeting of league owners, reported that the Cowboys' NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles have also made inquiries about Williams' availability. While one GM said there was a strong possibility the Lions would trade Williams to the Cowboys or Eagles on Tuesday, Philadelphia is believed to be more interested in Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez. The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers are also pursuing a deal with the Chiefs.
peterson just said no one is getting traded from teh Chiefs
John Clayton: "It really came down to two teams. I mean, you had Philadelphia... but they have LJ Smith, so why would they bid heavy?"
:-D :boom :win
Supposedly the Giants offered a 4th but KC wanted a 3rd. If anyone offered a 3rd (LIKE THE KIND OF PICK USED ON TONY F'ING HUNT AND RYAN F'ING MOATS), they would have traded him....
I can't believe how incompetant this front office has become.
"Become" ahahaahahahahahahah
......yeah, well..........is.
Every Friday at practice that actually hold an incompetition to see who sucks the most. Reggie and LJ are neck and neck every week, I hear.
Greggie won for so many consecutive years that they forced him to retire from the competition.
Nobody likes it when there's a ringer in the competition. S'why Reno's gone, too.
So John Clayton is still pushing this "but the Eagles have LJ Smith, so they are really ok" schtick on ESPN.
Is he boys with LJ's agent or something?
yeah i just heard him say "really they have LJ so it was not a big need".
WHY IS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA SO BLIND TO THIS MADNESS?
maybe if Reid was being constantly called out every week by all the pundits something might change.
Go into your kitchen and beat yourself in the face with a meat tenderizer for saying mainstream media.
Thanks.
IM GOING TO SCREAM ARERRGRGRGRGGR.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
